John W. "Ski" Miskowski
John W. "Ski" Miskowski, 60, of Zion died on Monday, August 19, 2002 at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Illinois.
John was born July 14, 1942 in Waukegan. He was employed as a Bus Driver for Pace North Division where he received the "Million Miler" award and he was a member of Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 900.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children Dawn Miskowski and William Ranta Jr., both at home in Zion; and many aunts, uncles and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Philip and Mary (nee Count) Miskowski.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Christian Assembly of God Church, 2929 Bethel Blvd., Zion, with Pastor Steve Goodner officiating. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Church. CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, is serving the family.

Mildred E. "Millie" Morneau
Mildred E. "Millie" Morneau, 81 of Zion died on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
Mildred was born February 15, 1921 in Brainard, MN and moved to Zion in 1955 from Racine WI. Mildred was a long time member and actively involved in the Zion Church of God and she frequently spoke at many other churches and church related functions.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Warren P. Morneau; children, Evie (Don) Meyer of Phoenixville, PA and Margie (Jim) Gambill of Sauk Village, IL; four grandchildren, Darin Meyer, Kevin Meyer, Tanya Gambill and Tami Napiwocki; and a sister, Gladys Spencer of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan road, Zion, with Reverend James Gambill, Reverend Tom Grissom,and Dr. Don Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Jerome A. (Jughead) Ornatek
Jerome A. (Jughead) Ornatek, 60, a former North Chicago, Illinois resident passed away July 24, 2002 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in La Jolla, California after a brief illness. He resided in San Diego where he was a Real Estate Broker and an avid golfer for many years.
Jerry graduated from the former Holy Rosary School and North Chicago Community High School, Class of 1960.
He is survived by two daughters, Yvette (Dean) Conner of Santee, California, Yvonne Rivas of San Diego, California, his three grandsons, Cory and Cody Conner and Harley Rivas, his sister, Francine (Robert) Grampovnik, of Wadsworth, Illinois, brother Terry (Beef) Ornatek of North Chicago, Illinois, and twin brother Larry of Phoenix, Arizona, two nephews, Jeff Grampovnik of Wheeling, Illinois and Greg Grampovnik of Wadsworth, Illinois, a long-time companion, Jacqueline Londhair of San Diego, California and many relatives in the local area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank (Audie) Ornatek in 1984 and his mother, Cecile Ornatek in 1998.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth, Illinois. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 til time of service. Memorial contributions may be sent to the San Diego Hospice, 4311 3rd Avenue, San Diego, California 92113.

Martin C. Pohle
Martin C. Pohle, age 95, a resident of Louisville, KY and a former longtime resident of Leisure Village, Fox Lake, IL and Chicago, IL died Saturday, August 10, 2002 in Louisville, KY. He was born January 1, 1907 in Knau, Germany to Otto and Anna (nee Ulitzsch) Pohle. Mr. Pohle was an accountant with Lytton's, Montgomery Wards, Wilson-Jones, National Cylinder Gas, and the International Division of the I.R.S. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Libertyville, IL.
Survivors include his daughters Marianne (Frank) Papp of The Villages, Florida, Linda (Steve) Shiels of Portland, Oregon and Kaethe (John) Shake of Louisville, KY; his grandchildren Joshua Shiels of Seattle Washington, Aaron Shiels of Puerto Rico and Ryan Shake of Louisville, KY; his sister Ilse Pohle of Oberursel, Germany; and his nephew Hannes (Beatrix) Pohle of Darmstadt, Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucille (nee Fehniger), and by his brother Gunther Pohle.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, August 23 2002 at 12:00 noon at the 1st United Presbyterian Church (In the Church Chapel), 219 West Maple, Libertyville, IL. Friends are invited to call at the Church chapel from 11:45 on thru service time. Private visitation and burial at Millburn cemetery were held previously for the family only, and were arranged for by the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake, IL (The Chapel On The Lake). Memorials for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Helen Romppainen
Helen Romppainen, 96, of Waukegan, passed away Friday, August 16, 202 at her home. She was born February 22, 1906 in Apple River, IL.
Helen was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a member of The Bykota Bible Study Class, The Lydia Circle at First Christian Church and Victory Memorial Auxiliary. Helen was a retired Waukegan School Teacher. Teaching for over 27 years at Whittier, Andrew Cooke, Bonnie Brook and Clearview Schools.
Helen is survived by her two children, Paul (Dianne) Stevens of Madison, WI and Lois (Anthony) Sacramento of Wadsworth; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold Stevens and Alvar F. Romppainen.
Funeral services were on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at First Christian Church, 6080 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee with Pastor T.M. Carroll officiating. Burial was in Warren cemetery. Visitation was held at First Christian Church. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee is serving the family.

Harry Snydacker
Harry Snydacker, 65, of Gurnee died August 19, 2002 at Lake Forest Hospital after a long illness.
He is survived by his children, Sam and Carrie Snydacker; a sister, Ruth (Bill) Bregar; a brother, Daniel (Martha Ullman) Snydacker; his mother, Betty Snydacker; and former wife, Collette McCanna.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Snydacker; and his father, Dr. Daniel Snydacker.
Harry graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1955 and attended Lawrence College in Appleton, WI. He was a veteran of the Korean War. For most of his career, Harry was a representative for Abbott Laboratories. He was also a sales representative for Century Office Supplies. After his retirement, he was active in his community. He was a member of the Board of the HeatherRidge/Hidden Hills Townhome Association for many years.
Services and Interment will be private.
A reception will be held for Harry at 4 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the Hidden Hills Recreation Center at HeatherRidge, 724 Wakefield Road (corner of Shephard Rd.), Gurnee, IL. For further information call Wenban Funeral Home, Lake Forest, IL. 847-234-0022.

Bobby G. "Papa" Weeks
Bobby G. "Papa" Weeks, 61, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Monday, August 19, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan.
Papa was born June 2, 1941 in Beaverton, Alabama, grew up in Haleyville, Alabama and at the age of 12 his family moved to Bertrand, Missouri where he met his future wife, Susan Hurley. They were married on September 10, 1960 in Alabama and together they moved to this area in 1964. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor where he helped with Vacation Bible School and he was employed by OMC in Waukegan and worked for the Waukegan School System as a grounds keeper. He also served with the Civil Defense and as a volunteer Fireman for the Village of Winthrop Harbor in the 60's and 70's, was a member of Zion-Benton Moose, coached baseball in the PeeWee League in Winthrop Harbor and he was an avid camper, fisherman, gardener and is well known in the area for helping people split wood for any cause.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; a daughter, Janet Weeks of Winthrop Harbor; twin granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Angela Ann; his mother, Pauline Glenn of Haleyville, Alabama; a brother, James (Rhonda) Glenn of Double Springs, Alabama; and his extended family, daughter, Susan Templeton of Beach Park; granddaughters, Amy (Amrit) Seegobin of Spain and Tracy (Jacob) Viramontes of Winthrop Harbor; and great grandchildren, Amar, Avin and Ayden.
He was preceded in death by a son, David; a sister, Margaret; and by his father, Luther.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002 at 10:30 AM at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Michael Brown of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Congdon Funeral Home. Memorial donations to the family have been suggested.

Herbert D. Siemens
Herbert D. Siemens, 54, of Zion, died on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in North Chicago.
Herbert was born April 3, 1949 in Los Angeles, California where he grew up. He retired from the Navy in 1997 as a Vietnam War Veteran, Chief Quarter Master, and Persian Gulf War Veteran. He was a member of the Fleet Association and former member of the U.S.S. Missouri Association. He enjoyed being with his family and had a love for antique cars and cats.
Survivors include his wife Zamora; two sons Michael F. Siemens of Waukegan, and William D. Siemens of Zion; one brother Arthur P. (Mercedes) Siemens Jr. of New Mexico; two sisters Marie and Barbara Siemens of California; two nephews Arthur P. III (Elizabeth Ozuna) Siemens, and Scott Siemens; three nieces Ria and Anastasia Siemens, and Christine (Steve) Stewart; and Christine and Steve's children, Chayanne and Skye Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Arthur and Philena.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ft. Sheridan cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. 847-746-1234.

Marie Antionette Gatewood-Smith
Marie Antionette Gatewood-Smith, age 69, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Friday, August 15, 2003 at the St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan, IL.
She was born in Waukegan, IL on June 16, 1934. She confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church, North Chicago, IL. She later joined Trinity A.M.E. Church, Waukegan, IL.
Ann was a past member of the Les Amis Civic and Social Club, a past member of the Calendar Club and a current member of the American Business Women's Association. She volunteered as a tutor at Hyde Park Elementary School in Waukegan. She was also a volunteer for the Waukegan Township Park Place Senior Center.
"Annie" is survived by her husband, John C. Smith; a daughter, Antoine L. Smith; a son, John C. Smith, II; a stepdaughter, Wanda Smith of Greenville, AL; a sister, Loretta Mills; seven grandchildren, Shirelle Newbill of Tennessee, Antonio (Keisha) Carter, Nazlah Y. Smith, Ellis Smith, Jamarcus Smith, Convonta (Justin) Stone and Quinlan D. Smith; four nieces, Cheryl Ali of Detroit, MI, Juanita Porter of Washington, DC, Courtnee (Frederick) McCullough of Macon, GA and Kendall Mills; two great nieces, one great nephew and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Gatewood, a sister, Shirley Embree and her grandparents, Cora Carroll and Calvin Pollard.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003 at the Trinity A.M.E. Church, 210 South Avenue, Waukegan, IL. Pastor Reginald Blount, officiating. Mary Katherine Cashmore
Mary Katherine Cashmore, 89, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Winchester House, Libertyville, IL.
She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on November 19, 1914, the daughter of the late Howard Calloway Godsey and Mary Etta Bailey. She was a lifelong resident of Waukegan. On February 6, 1943, she married William W. Cashmore. He passed away in 1966. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Joyce Thyne) Cashmore of Waukegan; her grandchildren, David Cashmore of Waukegan, Randall (Kristin) Cashmore of Grayslake and Kevin Cashmore of Wadsworth, IL; her great grandchildren, Zachary and Nathan; and her sisters, Louise Wright, Edith Trent, Hallie (Bill) Roope.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; granddaughter, Rhonda; brothers and sisters, James Godsey, Herschel Godsey, Marjorie Campbell, Harold Godsey, Elezebeth Godsey and William Godsey.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83 (Milwaukee Ave), Lake Villa, IL, 60046 (two blocks south of Rte. 132/Grand Ave.) with Rev. Lisle Kauffman officiating. Interment North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Visitation Monday 5 to 8 PM.

Joseph Vito DePerte
Of Beach Park
A funeral Mass for Joseph Vito DePerte, 75 will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Road, Beach Park.
Born April 24, 1929 in Waukegan, he passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004, at his home. Burial will be in Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
In 1978, Mr. DePerte retired from Abbott Laboratories after 37 years of service.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sylvia; his children, Mike (Donna) DePerte, Pete (Karen) DePerte, Paula (Ric) DePerte-Main, Tony (Carolyn) DePerte, Jackie (Don) Zirkelbach, and Kevin (Cherie) DePerte; his grandchildren, Ann Marie, Mike, Chandele, Eric, Heather, Katie, Vito, Adrienne, Keelin, Darian, Zach, Brenda, Adam, Joshua, Shane, Sherrie, and Jon; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brenda, and Ninett; and his siblings, Elizabeth (David) Tilley of Maine, Tony (Rose) DePerte of Maine, Angie (John) Lazzaretto, Martha (the late Tony) Pappas of Arkansas and Sarah (the late Jack) Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice DePerte Merchant; his father, Peter DePerte; his father- and mother-in-law, Ben and Bernadine Unrein; and infant son, Kevin James in 1963.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday, August 20 with a prayer service at 7 PM, and from 9 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan. (847) 336-0127.
