Howard Henry McBride
Brother Howard Henry McBride was born December 25, 1947 in Vicksburg, MS to Mary Magdelene and Nora Williams. Howard made his transition on Wednesday, September 10, 2003.
Howard was a student at the College of Lake County where he was studying to become a substance abuse counselor. Howard was a chemical dependency technician for The Gateway Foundation, where he hoped to be promoted upon completion of his degree.
Howard confessed his faith at Jesus Name Apostolic Church under the leadership of the Reverend John I. Caples Jr., where he became a born again Christian and a new man of God, leaving behind the past.
Howard leaves behind to cherish his home-going, a sister Deborah A. McBride-Bartley, two nephews Emmanuel (Requena) McBride, and Jaaleen (Jay) McBride, two nieces Sabrina (Ambrose) McBride-King and Carolyn (John) Love-Rivers, five uncles and three aunts and a host of cousins, great-nephews, nieces, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Magdelene McBride.

Harriette J. Means
Harriette J. Means of Springfield died Tuesday afternoon, September 2, 2003 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, age 91. She was born August 9, 1912 in Saybrook, the daughter of Clyde C. and Bertha Boudreau Means.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Jack and John Means; and three sisters, Maurine and Jonela Means and Thelma Colwell.
She graduated from Illinois State Normal University, now Illinois State University. She was a teacher and curriculum coordinator in North Chicago, Saybrook Bellflower and Gurnee. She was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church and Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are a sister, Wilha N. "Billie" Vuylsteke of Springfield; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Remains were donated to medical science. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 S. Douglas Ave., Springfield, IL 62704. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ingrid Roberts
Ingrid Roberts, 75, of Beach Park died on Monday, September 15, 2003 at her home following a long illness.
Ingrid was born June 7, 1928 in Berlin, Germany, came to this country in 1955 and lived in various places before moving to Beach Park 30 years ago.
Survivors include four children Christa (Robert) Siems of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Charles (Cheryl) Roberts of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Rebecca (Gerald) Seger of Zion and Tammy (Leonard) Rader of Kenosha, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren Paul and Todd Sanders, Tonya Seger, Charles Roberts II, Heather Roberts and Shannon and Brittany Rader; four great-grandchildren Louis and Chelsee Sanders and Julian and Alyssa Roberts; one brother Norbert (Angelika) Wittig of Berlin, Germany; and one sister Eva (Hurd) Moore of Florence, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Roberts in 1977, by one brother Berndt Wittig and her parents August and Hildegard Wittig.
Services will be private for the family. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to STAR Hospice has been suggested.

Viola M. Schrank
nee Robbins
Viola M. Schrank (nee Robbins), age 93, of Waukegan died Monday, September 15, 2003 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center after a recent illness. She was born May 20, 1910 in Phlox, WI and in 1925 moved to Waukegan where she met and then married the late (1990) Joseph Schrank on September 11, 1937. She worked at Abbott Labs of North Chicago and was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Waukegan. She belonged to numerous bridge groups, Junior Womens League and was an avid reader. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making things for her family.
Survivors include sons Mike (Joan) Schrank of Waukegan and John Schrank of Gurnee. Daughter in law Kathy Schrank of Wadsworth, grandchildren Katie Schrank, Meg (Randall) Salvino, Joseph and David Schrank, Elizabeth (Allan) Short, Christopher (Stacey) Schrank, Robert (Joy) Schrank, Timothy (Sandra) Schrank and Sgt. Edward (Yoshie) Schrank Jr., Bill and Alan Schrank. Great-grandchildren Christopher Schrank, Mandy and Andrew Salvino and Gavin Short. Sister Bernice Svendahl of St. Paul, MN.
preceded in death by son Edward Guy Schrank (2001) and five brothers.
Services will be Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at the GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave. with Visitation on Wednesday, September 17 from 10 a.m. until time of mass at St. Anastasia. Burial to follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Timothy Shields
Timothy Shields, 42, of Basset, WI, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at his home. He was born October 22, 1960 in Waukegan, and worked in construction and demolition.
Survivors include his daughter Crystal; brothers and sisters Carl, Debra (Mark "Ronnie") Fairbanks, Linda Poddock, Patricia Romero and James; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Dorothy, and a brother Leo, Jr.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home of Waukegan, 1521 Washington St. with a Memorial Service being held at 8:00 p.m. Arrangements by National Cremation Service, 5601 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60659.

Ervin Smith
Ervin Smith, age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. Ervin was a resident of Grayslake for 41 years. He was a former employee of Zurich Insurance Company for 32 years and a member of St. Gilbert's Catholic Church. He also was in service for the Army during WWII.
Ervin is survived by his wife of 57 years Gertrude Smith, his children Marianne (Joseph) Varni of Stockton, CA, James (Debra) Smith of Glastonbury, CT, Robert (Rosemary) Smith of Green Oaks, IL, Karen (Charles) Patterson of Hartford, WI, and his grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Allison, Laura, Adrianne, and Melissa. His two brothers preceded him in death.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday September 20, 2003 at St. Gilbert's Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 at 10:00 a.m. Father Beaven will be officiating. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Friends of the family may visit on Friday September 19, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Eusilva Shiela Williams
Eusilva Shiela Williams (Callum) was born January 10, 1958, Trelawny Jamaica. Eusilva was the child of Therisa McNish and Daniel Callum. She went to be with her Savior on September 13, 2003.
Eusilva was a God fearing, humble, caring person and friend. She was especially a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister. Eusilva lived her life the way God intended her to. Rest in Peace.
She was a faithful member of the New Testament Church of God, in North Chicago, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, leader of Young People Group and a prayer leader.
Eusilva leaves to mourn her husband and best friend, Osbourne Williams; her mother Therisa McNish; four children Marsha Williams, Charm Williams-Henry, Osbourne Williams Jr. and Kaream Williams; grandson Daniel Williams; sister Ireta Boatner; two nephews, three nieces, and relatives and friends.
We love her very much and will miss her terribly. Her departure will leave a huge void in our hearts. She will always be remembered.
Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. Saturday until time of service at new Testament Church of God, 1001 10th St., North Chicago, with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at North Shore Garden of Memories.
Arrangements under the care of MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan.

Roger E. Bickett
Roger E. Bickett, 36, of Zion, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion.
Roger was born April 8, 1968 in Cleveland, Tennessee, and has lived in this area all his life. He was associated with Alano Clubs of both Winthrop Harbor and Kenosha.
Survivors include his two children, Brandon and Jessica, both of Spring Grove, Illinois; his mother, Sherry Bickett of Zion; his father and step-mother, Jim and Kathy Bickett of Winthrop Harbor; two sisters, Kim (Marc) Henderson of Winthrop Harbor and Dawn (Gary) Ferger of Spring Grove, Illinois; four step-brothers, Robert (Wendy) Young of Energy, Illinois, Aaron (Valarie) Schultz of Aurora, Illinois, and Daniel (Marie) Schultz and Frank Schultz, both of Zion; and several nieces and nephews including Christopher and Tiffany Henderson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles, in 1994.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 8:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Dr. Michael Brown of First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor officiating and private cremation to follow. Visitation will be Friday, September 17, from 6:00 PM until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund for his children has been established at Bank of Waukegan, 700 Sheridan Road, Winthrop Harbor.

Denise C. Carlson
Denise C. Carlson, 52 years old of Lindenhurst, IL passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at her home.
She was born September 27, 1951 in Oak Park, IL the daughter of Dr. Edson and Jeanne E. (Plumbe) Etherton. She lived in Gibson City, IL, Libertyville, Rockford and DeKalb before moving to Lindenhurst in 1976. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1973 and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. Denise was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was active with the Church Woman's Club, chairperson for the Lindenhurst Task Force for Senior and Disabled Persons, and enjoyed flower gardening, reading, music, arts and crafts. On June 10, 1972 she married Harry Carlson in Gibson City, IL.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; two children, Heidi (Michael) Stoinski of Grayslake and Christopher E. (Jessica Marshall) Carlson of Lindenhurst; her father, Edson Etherton, MD of Loda, IL; a grand daughter, Elizabeth Marshall; three brothers, William (Regina) of Lake Forest, Thomas E. of Lincoln, IL, Edward (Karen) of Dunlap, IL; and a sister, Susan (James III) Dunnan of Princeville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanne E. Etherton.
Celebration of Life, Service of Resurrection will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, September 20, 2004 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 101 S. Beck Rd. Lindenhurst, IL with Pastor Jim Galuhn, officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Church and Monday from 2:00 PM until time of services. Service of Committal will be at 3:30 PM Tuesday in Drummer Township cemetery, Gibson City, IL with a reception celebrating Denise's Life from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Church St. Gibson City.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in her memory to: The Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or The American Cancer Society-Research. Arrangements by:

Irene V. Hertz
Irene V. Hertz, age 94, life long resident of Fox Lake, passed away on September 14, 2004 in McHenry, IL.
She was born on January 30, 1910 in Fond du Lac, WI. She and her late husband Carlo, were the original owners of the IGA store. Irene's hobbies included bowling, cooking, and collecting indoor and outdoor figurines.
Irene was the loving mother of Carl (Kathy), she was the cherished grandmother of Christopher and Lindsay Hertz, Heidi (David) Graham, and Erin Bogner, and was the dearest friend to Al Calderon.
preceded in death by her beloved husband Carlo, three sisters and one brother.
Visitation is Friday, September 17, 2004, from 3pm until the time of service at 7:30pm at SPRING GROVE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 8103 Wilmot Rd., (one mile north of RT 12) SPRING GROVE. Interment and graveside service at Dartford cemetery, Green Lake, WI.

Abbie McClain McCaster of Waukegan, IL entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 13, 2004. She was born March 17, 1951 in Coatopa, AL.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Samuel McCaster of Waukegan; 3 daughters; Maria McClain Smith, Cristy and Misty Gordon; 6 grandchildren, Mark, Markell and Ashley Smith of Demopolis, AL, Ralph (Tecola) McClain of Waukegan, IL, Johnny (Clarice) McClain of Detroit, MI, Simmie (Andrea) McClain of North Chicago, IL, Alfred (Glendora) McClain of Demopolis, AL, 4 sisters, Bertha (Sis) McClain of Waukegan, Mosella (Willis) Hurns, Gerri (Major) Walker and Thelma McClain all of Demopolis, AL and a host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation 10:00 A.M. at the church. Interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery, Zion, IL. Arrangements entrusted to BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Rd., Waukegan, IL.
