Josef S. Szinavel
Josef S. Szinavel, 79 years old of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL. He was born August 19, 1925 in Hungary, the son of the late Ferenc and Emilia (Schultz) Szinavel.
He lived in Porto Alegre, Brazil for 25 years, before moving to Chicago in 1967. Josef was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved to be with his family and to read and travel. In 1992 he retired from the Laystrom Manufacturing Company, where he was a plant foreman and a tool and dye maker.
Many grateful tool and dye apprentices trained under him and he was also proud of the fact that he made one of the parts that made up the space craft that first landed on the Moon.
Survivors are his children, Irene Szinavel of Countryside, IL Cristina (Donavan) Hilsabeck of Las Vegas, NV, Josef Louis (Marjorie) Szinavel or Port St. Lucie, FL, Ernani Jose Szinavel of Round Lake, IL and Evelin (David) Ullrich of Fox Lake, IL; his sister, Irma Kiss of Schaumburg, IL and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) Antioch, IL. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon Sunday, until 3:00 PM.

John Rex Atwood
John Rex Atwood, age 77, passed away Friday, September 6, 2002. John was born October 26, 1924 in Detroit, MI.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. John had lived in Mundelein for 40 years until 1998 when he moved to Hainesville. He was a member of St. Gilbert's Catholic Church and retired as Controller from Vogue Tyre and Rubber Company in Mount Prospect in 1997. John was also a member of the United States Power Squadron, Knight of Columbus and the Leisure Club of St. Gilbert's Parish.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie (Marge) Penstermaker Atwood, who he married December 31, 1944 in Rochester, IN; his daughter, Sharon (Jeffrey) Siirola; grandson, John Siirola; granddaughter, Jennifer Siirola; sister, Gail Goodman (the late Walter); brother, Kenneth (Geraldine) Atwood.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 10AM at St. Gilbert's Catholic Church, 301 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL, Reverend Father Robert Beaven will be officiating in the small chapel. Friends of the family may visit on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Gilbert's Parish or Waukegan Power Squadron Education Fund, c/o Keith Baldwin, 818 E. Marion St., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.

Helen Celesnik
Helen Celesnik, 84, of Waukegan, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2002. She was born May 13, 1918 in North Chicago, IL.
She was a member of the Queen of Peace Church, and a former member of Mother of God Church. She was also a member of South Slavonic Catholic Union, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, American Fraternal Union and U.S. Steel Retirees.
She is retired from U.S. Steel.
She is survived by one son, Ronald (Karen) Celesnik; three grandchildren, David Celesnik, Mary (Brian) Hunter and Jennifer (Joe) Sanchez; four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Nicholis Sanchez and Andrew and Alec Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony Celesnik; parents Joseph and Marie Halas; two sisters, Ann Reinhart and Mary Drennen and one brother, Art Halas.
Funeral service will be 10AM Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Queen of Peace Church with Father Jim Merold officiating. Burial at Ascension cemetery. Visitation at Marsh Funeral Home, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, IL.

Elizabeth V. (Betty) Gibson
Elizabeth V. (Betty) Gibson, age 89, of Kenosha, died Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the home of her daughter, in Waukegan, IL. Born in Dunn County, WI on November 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Ellen (Smith) Clayson.
She received her education in the schools of Dunn County an moved to Kenosha in 1943. On April 28, 1937 she married Lavern Gibson in Durand, WI. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1997. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Lakeview Church in Zion, IL. She enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Milakovic of Waukegan, IL; one brother, James Clayson of Menominee, WI; two grandsons, Daniel (Gail) Milakovic and Joseph (Daphne) Milakovic; and four great-grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Breanne and Drew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lavern in 1997, her sister, Clara Smith and her son-in-law, Donald Milakovic in 1990.
The Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials would be appreciated to the Lakeview Church of Zion, IL or the Vista Star Hospice of Waukegan, IL.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Gibson will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 12:00PM at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 11:00AM until the time of service. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home.

Norman Hojem
Norman Hojem, 88, of Foxlake, died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Winchester House, Libertyville. He was born September 30, 1913 in Chicago and had lived in Foxlake for the past three years.
Mr. Hojem was a retired painter and had worked for the CCC in the 1930's.
He is survived by his wife, Linnea of 66 years; his daughter, Gerrie (Charles) Neville of Libertyville; his son, Glenn (Margaret) Hojem of Madison, WI; his grandchildren, Ben and Alex Hojem, Debbie (Carl) Drake of Green Oaks, Kathy Neville of Grayslake, Kevin (Jan) Neville of Lake Forest, Arlene (David) Rose of Beach Park and Darlene (Kent) Yandel of Lake Bluff; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Richard (Evelyn) Hojem.
Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville. Interment will be at Memory Gardens cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation Tuesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
If desired, it has been requested that memorial donations be directed to the American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 138115, Chicago, IL 60613-8115.

Robert M. Liebgott
Robert M. Liebgott, 52, of Mettawa, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. He was born June 18, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York.
He was raised in Park Forest, IL and was a 1968 graduate of Rich Central High School. Rob continued his education and was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and was currently the Senior Vice President of Tru Serv Corporation (True Value Hardware Stores). He was also formerly active with Little League Baseball in Libertyville and was a strong supporter of the Libertyville High School Baseball Program.
Surviving are his wife Ginger and sons Ryan and Matt Liebgott, all of Mettawa; his brother, Dr. Allan (Susan) Liebgott of Littleton, CO and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alida Liebgott.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Visitation will be from 3:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in his memory.

Charles E. Raasch
Charles E. Raasch, 73, a lifelong resident of Waukegan passed away on September 6, 2002 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. He is the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Alice (nee Carvis) Raasch. He served in the United States Marine Corps, was a retiree of Outboard Marine Corporation, played softball in Waukegan for many years and was a member of St. Dismas Parish.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nancy (nee Roder); four children, Karen (Tim) Ellis of Cantonment, FL, Sharon (Jim) Kenton of Fairfield, CT, Jim Raasch and Alice Bowsher both of Waukegan; his grandchildren, Melissa Ellis, Samantha Bowsher, Daniel Bowsher, and Zachary Kenton; his two brothers, Bob (Diana) Raasch and Jerry Raasch.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Raasch.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 10, 2002 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan with Fr. John Ryan officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 8:30 A.M. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to St. Anastasia School, 929 Glen Flora Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085.
Arrangements are under the care of PETERSON AND PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Duane R. Reh, Sr.
Duane R. Reh, Sr., 66, of Pinedale, Wyoming, passed away Friday, September 6, 2002 at the home of his daughter in Laramie, Wyoming. He was born January 8, 1936 in Chicago, was raised in Lake Forest and was a 1954 graduate of Lake Forest High School. He was a former Chief of Police in Salem Twp. WI and was the Captain of the Salem Twp. Rescue Squad. After moving to Wyoming, he was a patrolman for the Pinedale Police Dept. and the Sublette County Sheriff's Dept.
Surviving are 3 children, Duane (Christina) Reh, Jr. of McHenry, Laurie and Diane Reh, both of Laramie, WY; 3 grandchildren, Lauren, Claudia and Ryan; 1 sister, Bonnie (Ralph) Cinefro of Genoa City, WI. He was preceded in death by his wife Claudia Reh on September 3, 1983, and by his son Douglas Reh on October 14, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with Father Robert Sherry, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's cemetery in Lake Forest. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

Evelyn Terris
Evelyn Terris, 87, a recent resident of Ivanhoe, IL, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2002 at her home. She was born February 2, 1915 in Chicago, IL, where she was a resident of the Roseland neighborhood for most of her life.
She was also a former ten year resident of Palos Heights, where she was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, William (Shirley) Terris of Ivanhoe and Bruce Terris of Miller Beach, Indiana; a grandson, Bruce (Lesley) Terris of Evanston; one sister, Laverne Grapenthien of Lansing, IL; one brother, Simon Dykstra of Rogers, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Terris in 1964; by a brother, Leslie and two sisters, Lorraine and Barbara.
Services will be held at 5:00PM, Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with the Reverend Stephen E. Farish, pastor of the Crossroads Church in Libertyville, officiating. Interment will be on Thursday at the Beverly cemetery in Blue Island. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 to 6:00PM on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Annie Young
Annie Young, 78, of North Chicago, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2002, at the Pinnacle Nursing Facility in Waukegan, Illinois, where she was comforted by the excellent care of its staff and supportive hospice team while she fought a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 15, 1924. She worked at the VA Medical Hospital, of North Chicago, for a number of years where she met and cherished many relationships.
Annie was preceded in death by Rosevelt Young (husband), Nellie Wallace (mother), Louis Wilson (father), Roy Wilson (brother), Johnny Wilson (brother), and Anna Wells (sister).
Left to survive her memories are her seven children: Lillie Young, Percy Young (Maxine), James Wilson (Aberniece), Mavis Sallis, Mattie Nix (Joseph), Marguerite Windom (Arthur), Johnnie Young, and Cheryl Street (Nikita); as well as 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; special niece, Ida McGee as well as a host of other nieces and nephews; close sister-in-laws, Mamie Nixon and Clattie Banks; special friends, Carol Crews, Alice Martin, Susie Gary, Octavia Wilson and Rose Gardner; and her dear neighbors and friends at Leo Kukla Towers.
Funeral Services to be held at her church home, Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2690 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, Illinois, Pastor Henry Woods, Officiating, where she was an active and faithful member for many years. Visitation on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 beginning at 10:00 a.m., funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park cemetery, Zion, IL. Arrangements by BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL.
