Lawrence C. Tomasiewicz
Lawrence C. Tomasiewicz, 59, of Park City, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at Condell Memorial Hospital in Libertyville. He was born August 11, 1943 in Waukegan and remained a lifelong area resident.
He was a Veteran serving in the USMC from 1964 to 1968, was a member of Waukegan Moose Lodge 706 and had been a Computer Systems Specialist last working at Provena St. Therese Medical Center.
He is survived by his brother, Tom (Christine) Tomasiewicz of Waukegan and his sister, Cheryl; also by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen (nee Miller) Tomasiewicz and his sister, Judy Glover.
Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan. Interment will be at Warren cemetery in Gurnee. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8PM.

Mary Armour
Mary Armour, 52, of Waukegan, IL passed away November 23, 2002. She has been a long time resident of Waukegan. She retired from the Ann M. Kiley Center as a Supervisor. She also was a member of Jesus Name Apostolic Church.
She is survived by her children Charles (Kim) Smith and Militon Y. Smith, both of Waukegan; her father, Columbus (Nancy) Smith of Portland, OR; 3 brothers Michael Smith of Waukegan, Shay Smith of Portland, OR, and Sherman Baker of Chicago; 3 sisters, Mary Lou Greer of Waukegan, Florene (Jackie) Thompson of North Chicago, Kiesha Smith of Portland, OR; 4 grandchildren Richard, Rodney, Aquira, and Lil Charles, all of Waukegan; and a very special friend, Eleanor Keys of Kenosha, WI.
Services will be held Saturday November 30, 2002 with Pastor John I. Caples,, Jr. officiating. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. at Jesus Name Apostolic Church at 208 Lake St., Waukegan. Funeral services will be held promptly at 11:00 a.m. following visitation. WESTGATE FUNERALS is handling the arrangements.

Valerie Sue Berggren
Valerie Sue Berggren, 42, of Gurnee, passed away November 23, 2002 at St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. She was a long time employee of the Avalon Restaurant in Gurnee, and previously at Full Moon Restaurant in North Chicago.
She is survived by her son Karl, daughters Amy and Vanessa, grandson Collin, brothers Larry, Scott, and Mike Edmonds, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and close friends. How very giving she was and her wonderful heart of gold will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2002 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, Illinois 60030. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories cemetery in North Chicago, Illinois followed by a dinner and reception at the Christ Community Church. Friends of the family may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday, from 10:00 AM until time of service. Memorials may be made to her children at the funeral chapel or at Avalon or Full Moon Restaurant locations.

Sylvia L. Cunningham
Sylvia L. Cunningham, 82, Cortland, New York formerly of Waukegan passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Northwood at Cortland assisted living. She was born April 4, 1920 in Medford, WI. Sylvia was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukegan and former member of Eastern Star. She was retired from Pfanstiel after 14 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy L. (James) Platt of Syracuse, NY; son Edward (Linda) Sorenson of Beloit, WI; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a brother, Bill Dawson of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. Cunningham.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Friday, November 29, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, 128 Martin Luther King, Jr. Rd. (formerly Utica), Waukegan with Rev. Dr. Gehl Devore officiating. Entombment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Friends may call at the church at 9:00 AM to time of service. Donations in memory of Sylvia can be made to the Orphans of the Storm, 2200 Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods, Illinois 60015. Arrangements are under the care of PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Gerald Kennedy
Gerald Kennedy, 74, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago. He was born February 6, 1928 in Wabeno, Wisconsin and moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1949 after being discharged from the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Beach Community Church in Beach Park. He retired from Johnson Motors in 1992 after 30 years, and was a volunteer for the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Grace; four daughters, Geraldine Gray of Zion, Terry Kennedy of Winthrop Harbor, Sherry Kennedy of Winthrop Harbor and Mary Powles (Jerry Sr.) of Dongola, IL; one son, Steven Kennedy of Winthrop Harbor; six grandchildren, Angela, Heather, Derreck, Lauren, Kristina and Hannah; six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jared, Justin, Brianna, Miranda and Christopher; and two sisters Ellen Gretchel of Columbus, Ohio; and Shirley Krasweski (Raymond) of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one great-grandson, Jake; and two brothers, Steven and George.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 30, 2002 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Pastor Gay Brown and associate Pastor Harry Townsend of Beach Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
Memorials to Beach Community Church have been suggested.

Charles J. Lipscomb
Charles J. Lipscomb, age 63 of Fox Lake. Mr. Lispcomb passed away Monday, November 25, 2002. He was employed as a security guard at Intermatic. He was born July 18, 1939 in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Loving brother of Terry (Joy) Lipscomb of Spring Grove; dear uncle of Nick, Carrie, Chelsea and David.
Interment private. Arrangements by Spring Grove Funeral Chapel.

Hyacinth O'Bryant
Hyacinth O'Bryant a life long resident of North Chicago, passed away November 23, 2002, after a lengthy illness. She was born October 17, 1932. She retired from North Shore Terrace Nursing Home.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories 7 sons Dennis Michael (Rosita) O'Bryant of North Chicago, David O'Bryant of Tucson, AZ, Sammy (Pat) O'Bryant of North Chicago, Daryl O'Bryant of North Chicago, Timothy O'Bryant of North Chicago, Tracy O'Bryant of North Chicago, Norris (Angie) Randolph of North Chicago. 3 daughters Evon (Charles) Smith of Belleville, IL, Shirley Spencer of North Chicago, and Roberta (Dorsey) Garland of Norfolk, VA. 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. A very special niece Cynthia Williams of Georgia. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law Jean Carr of North Chicago, and very special friends Jessie Lee, Ardell Senter, Guynell Long and Jean Range.
She is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Roberta Carr, sister Kathleen Williams, son Robert O'Bryant, brother Willie Clyde Carr, grandson Edwin O'Bryant, and special friend Curtis Randolph. She touched many lives in her 70 years, always giving an open heart and home to those in need. Her work is not yet done and she will be missed on this earth, blessed are those who ranks she join.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 29, 2002 at the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 1529 Elizabeth Ave., North Chicago, IL. Pastor Eugene Roberson, Officiating. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Brian Warren Payne
Brian Warren Payne, 39, of Chicago died suddenly on Friday, November 22, 2002.
Brian was born July 19, 1963 at Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois. He grew up in Zion and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1982. He had been employed with Dunbar Armor Car Company as an Armed Security Driver for a number of years.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Robert and June Payne of Beach Park; three loving sisters, Jaqui and Robin Payne of Skokie, Illinois and Vivian (William III) Roberts of Zion; two nephews, Pierce and Devin Roberts; and a niece, Jordan Roberts. Brian's presence will be deeply missed by his uncles and aunts, Willis Payne Sr., Richard (Annie) Payne, Samuel (Alyce) Payne, Irene (Coleman) Bass Sr. and Addrienne "Auntie" (Clarence) Ervin; and a host of dear cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving paternal grandparents, Samuel and Pearl Payne, Sr; by his maternal grandparents, James Lee and Eunice Eubanks; by his paternal great grandfather, Henry Darnell; and by his maternal great grandparents, Grover and Ella Mae Alexander.
The family will greet visitors on Friday, November 29, 2002 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with a Memorial Service following immediately at 11 AM. Brother Garfield Grace Jr. of the Brothers After the Order of Jesus will officiate the service.

Tony Urban, D.D.S.
Anton E. Urban, 55 years old, of Antioch, IL passed away Monday, November 25, 2002 at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, IL from complications due to a motor cycle accident. He was born July 6, 1947 in Highland Park, IL, the son of Anton W. and Beverly Jane (Morgan) Urban. He had lived in Lake Villa and Fox Lake, IL before moving to Antioch permanently in 1986. Tony was a graduate of Antioch Community High School and attended Miami Military School in Miami, FL, Southern Illinois University, the College of Lake County, and Illinois State College. He earned his DDS degree from Northwestern University in Chicago and was president of his class. Dr. Urban began his dental practice in Antioch in May of 1978 and had a dental practice with his partner, Dr. Nicholas Ruggiero since 1986, in Antioch, IL and Kenosha, WI. He also had a practice of his own in Chicago until 1987. Dr. Urban loved to fish and hunt and ride his motor cycle. During his life he was known to be generous with his time and for those in need of his services. On December 23, 1972, he married Kathryn Walker in Millburn, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; three sons, Anton W. "Tony" (Christine) of Kirkland, WA, Gregory J. of Seattle, WA and Joel W. at home; a daughter, Amanda Urban at home; his mother, Beverly Jane Rundgren of Antioch; and his sister, Gail (David) Heath of Seneca, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Anton W. Urban in 1974.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 30, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rt. 83). Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Dr. Tony Urban Memorial Fund, C/O State Bank of the Lakes, 440 Lake St., Antioch, IL, 60002.

Julia K. Vasey
Julia K. Vasey, 49, of Lake Villa, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002 in her home. She was born December 25, 1952 in Burlington, WI and was a member of Willow Creek Church in Barrington. She was a supervisor of the Juvenile Division at the County Clerks Office.
Survivors include her husband Ronald Vasey; sons Matthew (Dana) Vasey, Timothy (Shannon) Vasey and Aaron Vasey; mother Verna Russell; siblings Delores (Fred) VanderKooy, Gary (Chris) Russell, Eileen (Dewayne) Anderson, and Verna (Ron) Marker; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Keith Russell, and a brother Matthew Russell.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd., Gurnee, Illinois 60031 (847) 336-0127. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 29 and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Julie Vasey.

Marjorie E. "Marge" Washa
Marjorie E. "Marge" Washa, 75, of Lake Villa, IL passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. She was born September 4, 1927 in Lake Villa, the daughter of the late William and Florence (McClure) Petersen and has been a life long resident. She was a member and Past President of the Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post #4308 of Lake Villa. She did domestic work at Libertyville Manor and before her retirement, she worked as an assembler for the Charles Bruning Co., who were makers of photo copy machines. On January 12, 1968, she married Robert Washa in Waukegan, IL and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1997.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane (George) Grenus of Slades Corners, WI and Barbara Heaton of Libertyville, IL; a sister, Luella Pullen of Gurnee, IL; four grandchildren, Dawn Heaton, Heather (Owen) Russell, Dusti and Abby Grenus; three great grandchildren, Samantha, Makenzie and Kameron; and by many many friends.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Colleen Heaton; two brothers, Peter and Tom Petersen; and two sisters, Genevieve Patterson and Mary Petersen.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 2, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rt. 83). Interment will be in Angola cemetery, Lake Villa, IL. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 until 8 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association in her memory.

Cal Bankhead Jr.
Cal Bankhead Jr. was born on February 8, 1932 to the late Doris and Cal Bankhead Sr. of Snow Lake, AR. He went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 22, 2003 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Snow Lake, AR and has been a resident of this area for more than 40 years. Cal served in the United States Army and retired from Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Helen, three children, Robert (Rose) Bankhead, Veronica (Jackie) McNeil and Peggy Bankhead. Two sisters, Elizabeth Rooney of Waukegan, IL and Billie Bobo of Lake Forest, IL, one brother Albert Bankhead of Waukegan, IL, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including Lloyd (Preacher) Howard. He also leaves to mourn two very special first cousins, Nancy Bankhead Hoy and Fannie Bankhead Bullocks.
Cal was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Cal Bankhead Sr., two sons, Cal Bankhead III and Larry Bankhead, three sisters Helen Austin, Mary Harper, and Irene Wright, one brother Louis Bankhead and his stepmother Edna Bankhead.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to WESTGATE FUNERALS, Waukegan, IL. 847-662-8000. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2003 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at First Corinthian Baptist Church, 1529 Elizabeth Ave., North Chicago. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. Eugene Roberson officiating.
