Harry Goldstein
Harry Goldstein, 84, a former 50 year resident of Elmhurst, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. He was born August 20, 1919 in Forest Park, IL, and was raised in River Forest.
Harry was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WWII and following his discharge joined the family businesses. They were the Franklin Circle Service Station and Goldyburgers Restaurant and Lounge, both in Forest Park.
Surviving are three children, Dr. Janine (Thomas Barrett) Goldstein of Waukegan, Bennett (Mia) Goldstein of Naperville, and Teresa (Joseph) Long of Winnetka; six grandchildren, Leann, Kristen, Lauren, Joseph, Lillian and Jeni; his brother, Jack Goldstein of Chicago; and sisters, Bessie Goldstein and Mathilda Therriault, both of River Forest.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 1992; by a sister, Eve; and brothers, Max, Joseph and Barney.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, June 18 at the Westlawn cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Ave. in Chicago. Memorial contributions can be made to the Harry Goldstein Memorial Fund at the Winchester House in Libertyville.

Flayvee Herring
Flayvee Herring, 66, of North Chicago, Illinois passed away at home on June 13, 2004. She was born in Holly Springs, Arkansas on April 21, 1938. She had been an area resident for 38 years. She was retired from the VA Medical Center, North Chicago, IL.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Willie J. Herring; two brothers, Curtis (Vera Mae) Grayson and Lawrence (Doris Jean) Grayson; seven children, Charles L. (Yvonne) Triplett, Renee (Eli) Poynter, Anthony J. Herring, Michael D. (Vernetta) Herring, Debra A. Patterson, Linda F. Herring and Brenda (Maynard) Herring; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; she will be dearly missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Grayson and her father, Curtis Grayson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 18, 2004 at BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL. with Pastor Thomas McCurry, New Life Christian Center, Waukegan, IL officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until time of service at the funeral home, 847-662-3553.

James William Marshall
James William Marshall, age 56, of Libertyville, IL, June 10, 2004.
Devoted and loving father of Meredyth Marshall. Beloved fiance of Kathryn Kather.
preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Bartock); his daughter, Megan; a sister, Patricia (Joseph) Kivland; and his parents, Rita and Ray Marshall.
Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Raymond (Marilyn) Marshall of North Palm Beach, FL, Mickie (David) McClain, Kathleen (Ted) Peters, and Thomas (Rosemary) Marshall, all of Libertyville, IL, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family thanks the nurses and doctors and other staff members of UIC Medical Center for the care he received throughout his illness.
A memorial Mass, celebrating Jim's life, will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 East Maple St. in Libertyville, IL.

ELEANOR L. MASCHEK
Eleanor Lillian Maschek, nee Gorczyca, 90, of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away in San Antonio, Texas on February 9, 2004. Beloved wife of the late Edward and the late Everett.
Dear Mother of Kenneth (Rose) Russell Sr. (Kathie) and Randall (Terry). Dear sister of the Late Joanne and Leo Gorczyca, Grandmother of 11, Great-Grandmother of 9.
Memorial Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, June 19, 2004, 10:00 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Lake Villa, Illinois. Interment Bohemian National cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.

Wayne K. Michael
After a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer and diabetes, Wayne K. Michael, 72, of Greenbrier, Arkansas passed away on June 15, 2004 at Conway regional Medical Center, Conway, Arkansas. Born September 3, 1931 in Zion, Illinois.
He is predeceased by his father and mother, Lester and Farah Degler Michael and brother, Norm Michael all of Zion, Illinois.
Wayne retired in 1990 from Georgia Pacific Paper Company where he was a Plant Manager for several different envelope manufacturing plants throughout the Eastern United States. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member and past president of the Lions Club in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Wayne is survived by Janet Michael, his loving wife of many years of Conway, AR; by Bonnie Steenis, his very close companion and inspiration to face each day for the last several years of his life, of Greenbrier; by son, Raymond Michael and his wife, Janet and grandson, Ryan all of Conway; by granddaughter, Jenny Garrett; by Bonnie's sons, Chris Steenis, D.J. Vinacco and his wife, Kim and grandsons, Dalton and Tanner Vinacco all of Greenbrier. Also by sister, Ramona Cooprider and her husband, Dud and family from Zion, Ilinois. Other family and friends are located in all areas of the country.
Funeral services will be Friday, 3:00 p.m. June 18, 2004 at the Roller McNutt Conway Chapel officiated by Bro. Clyde Spurgin. Entombment will be at Crestlawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation. Myckia Rose Otterson

Myckia Rose Otterson, infant daughter of Sara Maye Taylor of Winthrop Harbor and Robert Allen Otterson, Jr. of Kenosha, died on Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.
Other survivors include her grandparents, Karen (Tom) Taylor of Winthrop Harbor, Elaine (Patrick) LaPoint of Kenosha and Robert (Laura) Otterson, Sr. of Park Forest, IL; great grandparents, Elsie Mae Parsygnat of Waukegan, Larry (Wanda) Parsygnat of Forrest City, AR, Robert (Judy) Otterson of Sauk Village, IL and Judy Tate of Zion; special aunt, Kari LaPoint of Kenosha and other aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles; and special cousin, Alexis Derohan of Pleasant Prairie, WI and other cousins.
She was preceded in death by great grandmother, Elaine May Taylor; great grandfather, Samuel Len Taylor, great uncles Samuel Taylor and Wally Parsygnat; great aunt, Marge Chamblee and great great grandparents.
The family will be receiving friends at a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 19, 2004 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made out to the family have been suggested. (847)746-1234.

Thomas F. Schroeder
Thomas F. Schroeder, 77, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. He was born April 28, 1927 in Half Day, IL, was a former Libertyville resident and a 1945 graduate of Libertyville High School.
Tom was the Art Director at the Waukegan News-Sun Newspaper for 34 years, after studying at the Chicago Art Institute and the Chicago Academy of Art. He was also a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Schroeder; two sons, Stewart (Robin) Schroeder of Lake Villa and Shayne Schroeder of Los Alamitos, CA: a grandson, Jereme (Ami) Schroeder of Lake Villa; and his sister, Jane Brzezinski of Libertyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Florence Schroeder; by his brother, Frank Schroeder; and brother-in-law, George Brzesinski.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 22 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville with the Rev. Lisle Kaufmann, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday.

Margaret J. Tegtmeyer
Margaret J. Tegtmeyer, 96, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born June 12, 1908 in Arlington Heights, IL, was a former resident of Waukegan, living in Libertyville since 1956. She was a former employee of the Illinois Bell Telephone Company and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and St. John's Lutheran Church in Libertyville.
Surviving are her son, William "Bill" (Judy) Tegtmeyer of Libertyville; four grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Morrison of Rock Island, Jim (Chris) Tegtmeyer of Oregon, IL, Jill Tegtmeyer of Vernon Hills and Jeff (Elizabeth) Tegtmeyer of Libertyville; six great grandchildren, Scott, Leah Kiley, Hailey, William and Maxwell.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Otta H. Tegtmeyer in 1975.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Lourdes Alva
Lourdes Alva, 40, of Waukegan passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004.
She is survived by two children, Freddy and Karina Alva; sisters, Dioses Alva and Julita Alva; brother, Santiago (Grace) Alva of Waukegan; sister, Olivia (Artemo) Ortega, Maria Alva; and brother, Gorge Alva of Mexico; and sister, Rigo (Armando) Alba of California.
preceded in death by her father, Augustine Alva.

Lela Geraldine Anderson
Lela G. Anderson, 86 of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, June 14, 2004 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born August 7, 1917 at Piedmont, MO, the daughter of Walter and Letha Powers Asberry. She married Carl A. Anderson on October 7, 1962, in St. Charles, IL. He died in 1981.
Anderson lived in Waukegan and Gurnee, IL, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1992. She had been a teller and instructor with First National Bank in Waukegan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau and the Order of Eastern Star in Waukegan.
Survivors include a nephew, Walter Wilson of Maryland Heights, MO.
Funeral was held at FORD & SONS MOUNT AUBURN CHAPEL June 15, 2004, with the Rev. Paul Kabo, officiating. Graveside service were held at Masonic cemetery at Piedmont, MO.

Sylvia Dukas
Sylvia Dukas, 97 of Zion, died on Friday, June 11, 2004 at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion. Sylvia was born April 13, 1907 in Slade, Kentucky and moved to Zion in the 1940's from Antigo, WI. She was employed as a domestic housekeeper in the area, for many years.
Survivors include two sons, George (Margaret) Dukas of Winthrop Harbor and Peter Dukas of Waukegan; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Dukas; one daughter, Elda Mae Joiner; by her parents, Sidney and Elizabeth Bowen; and by several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Bible Church, 2633 Emmaus Avenue, Zion, with Pastor Dave Dennlinger officiating. Julia G. Friedman (nee Butkus)
Julia G. Friedman, 90 passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlene Robertson; her sister, Stella Butkus; six brothers, John, Joseph, Alex, Anthony, Walter, Michael and George Butkus; also her parents, Michael and Ursula (nee Preiksa).
Julia is survived by her husband of 65 years, Norbert A.; one son, Norbert G. (Judy); eight grandchildren; Rene (Kevin) Campe, Scott (Jane) Robertson, Thomas (Debra) Robertson, Jeffrey (Lisa) Friedman, Robert (Kristan) Friedman, Kenneth Friedman, Keith (Ann) Friedman, Juliann (Michael) McGreal; also 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at THE SALATA GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Av.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004 at St Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Mary Ellen Koutny (nee Gudgeon)
Mary Ellen Koutny, 51, of Ingleside, formerly of Mundelein died June 12, 2004 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born August 12, 1952 in Chicago and grew up in Mundelein where she was a graduate of Carmel High School.
Mrs. Koutny had been employed by Walgreens Drug Stores at corporate level for more than 20 years. She loved camping, reading and caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas of 32 years; her children. Jennifer of Milwaukee, Kim and Tamara, both of Ingleside; her parents, William and Louise Gudgeon of Mundelein; and her sisters, Julie (Jeff) Arfsten of Lake Forest and Donna (Mike) Roman of Grayslake.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Rt. 176, 1 Bl. E. of Milwaukee Ave.) to St. Joseph Church, Libertyville for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Ascension cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Funeral info. (847)362-2626.

William John Lorimer
William John Lorimer, 84, of Laguna Woods, California (formerly from this area), died on May 29, 2004 and was buried with Marine Corp. Military Honors at Ft. Rosecrans National cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, California.
He is survived by his twin brother, Neil Lorimer, of Waukegan, his wife Mary Jane, sons William and Bradley, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods, California and retired from ComEd in Northbrook, Illinois.
