Iris L. Grimes
Iris L. Grimes, 65, of Zion went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, June 2, 2003.
Iris was born in Russell, Illinois and lived most of her life in Zion. She met her husband, Norman while working at the Salem Laundromat in 1958. The 27th of this month they would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Iris attended Victory Baptist Church in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin and was known for her love and compassion as a dedicated pre-school teacher in one of her ministries of a previous church for eighteen years, where she put her whole heart into whatever she did.
As a mother to her two daughters, Sally (Barry) Snyder of Elgin, and Connie Quigley of Zion, there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them if she had the power to do it.
Iris fought as a trooper for the past three weeks against the ravaging effects of chemotherapy which left her defenseless to infection, pneumonia and DIC (a blood clotting disorder). Iris was the "worlds greatest Grandma" to her nine grandchildren who spent many days with her at the hospital. They will especially remember the Easter Egg hunt this year in which 650 eggs filled with candy and prizes were hid for them to find. The grandchildrens names are Daniel (21), Audrey (19), Luke (16), Natalie (13), Paul (10), Matthew (9), Angela Snyder (6), and Aaron (15) and Andrew (13) Quigley. She has one sister, Marjorie (David) Morey of Waukegan.
Funeral Services will be held this Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Jerry Beaver of Victory Baptist Church in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

William C. Hall
William C. Hall, age 76, passed away on Sunday May 25, 2003.
He was a seven year Veteran of the US Marine Corp., former Mayor of the Village of Third Lake and a member of the American Legion. He was also a Grandpa too and loved by many Small World Children.
He survived by his wife, Katherine (nee Kraushaar) Hall; one daughter, Kathleen Kuykendall; one son, William E. Hall (Sandy); grandchildren, Karly Daro, Christopher, Erin and Jeremy Hall; one great-grandson, Kyle Hall; one uncle, James Hall; and many cousins.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday June 7, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Greys Lake.

Sally W. Hawkins
Sally W. Hawkins, 77 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Tuesday June 3, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL. She was born May 19, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of the late Harry D. and Grace (Schottenfeld) Welch moving to Antioch in 1948. Sally was an avid Bridge player and was a member of the Antioch Women's Club. On June 28, 1948 she married George O. Hawkins in Antioch and they operated the Mount Hatchery for many years. She later was an Antique Dealer and in recent years conducted Sales by Sally. Her husband preceded her in death on October 29, 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Lark W. (Drew) McCoy of Golden, CO, two sons, Scott E. Hawkins of Lakewood, CO and Arthur M. Hawkins of Bloomington, IL and her grandson Travis McCoy of Golden, CO. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister Nancy.
Funeral Services with cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Antioch Township Library or the Antioch Rescue Squad or the Lake Region Historical Society. Arrangements are entrusted to the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH. Info 847-395-4000.

Theresa H. "Babe" Keulman
Theresa H. "Babe" Keulman, 82 years old of Zion, IL, formerly of Antioch, passed away Friday May 30, 2003 at the Rolling Hills Manor, Zion, IL. She was born January 22, 1921 in Chicago the daughter of the late Rudolph and Theresa (Dobscher) Stimpfl, moving to Antioch in 1939, to Grayslake in 1993 and to Zion recently. Babe was the former owner and operator of the True Value Hardware store and a co-owner of Keulman Jewelry in Antioch and the Valhalla Beach Motel in Crawl Key, FL. She attended St. Ignatius Church, was a member of the AARP and the Senior Citizens in Antioch and was a member of the Women of the Moose in Marathon, FL. Babe loved to do hand crafting and was an avid reader. On November 22, 1941 she married Charles "Bussie" Keulman in Dubuque, Iowa and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Kent) Eder-Adriansen of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Charleen (Dennis) Schwitters of W. Des Moines, Iowa, one brother Rudolph (Fern) Stimpfl of Des Plaines, IL, four grandchildren, Mark (Raylene) Eder of Beach Park, IL, Tamara Mitcheff of Lake Villa, IL, Scott (Christine) Schwitters of Smyrna, GA and Michelle Schwitters of Bolder, CO, five great grandchildren, Timothy, Ashley, Dylan, Lauren and Megan. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Hale and Gertrude Ipsen.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM Friday June 6, 2003 at St. Ignatius Episcopal Church, 500 East Depot Street, Antioch, IL with Rev. Vincent Eckholm officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ignatius Church, in her memory. John B. "Jack" Mitchell
John B. "Jack" Mitchell, 87, of Libertyville, IL passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born August 5, 1915 in Oak Park and had been a Libertyville resident for the past 57 years. He was a 1935 graduate of York High School in Elmhurst and also attended Elmhurst College. Jack was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and retired after 34 years as an underwriter for Kemper Insurance Company in Long Grove. He was also a former volunteer at Condell Medical Center, was an avid golfer and volunteered at the Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein for ten years.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Betty (nee DeVolder) Mitchell and daughters, Judy (Russ) Bellone of Rockford and Ellen (Terry) Vaughan of Grayslake; seven grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Gelling, Chris (Alyssa) Vaughan, Adam (Vicki) Vaughan, Andrew (Kayte) Vaughan, Mark and Rob Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Mitchell, by his sister Mildred Tirrell and infant son John.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, June 7 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rte. 176) Libertyville. Interment will follow at St. Mary cemetery in Fremont Center. John G. Ryan
John G. Ryan, age 77, of Zion, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1926 in Chicago, the son of John and Frances (Michaels) Ryan. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a medical technician from 1944 to 1946 and received a Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal.
He continued his career after military service, working for many years as an L.P.N. in the area of developmental disabilities and group homes. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post 867 in Mundelein.
Survivors include seven children, Kevin (Jan) Ryan of Sandy, UT, Kathleen (William) Fox of Zion, Patrick (Karen) Ryan of Rockaway Beach, OR, Maureen (John) Snider of Grayslake, Colleen (Mike) Ivins of Lake Villa, Theresa (Jim) Odom of Beach Park, and Sharon (Kevin) Mack of Grayslake; 26 grandchildren, Skyler, Kyle, James, Kelley, Mitch, David, Holli (Steve), Elliot, Connor, Dennis, Rebecca, Rachel, Eileen, Clair, Ryan (Lauren), Rydelle (Jarrod), Ross, Lexie, Natalie, Miles, Christian, Joey, and Jack; and two great grandchildren, Anthony and Austyn.
Other survivors include a brother, Edward (Charlene) Ryan of Tomahawk, WI and two sisters, Mary (Don) Dier of North Carolina and Alice (Joe) Vadelma of New York and his former spouse Genvevieve Ryan, of Round Lake Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Dennis Ryan.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003 at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 N. Rosedale Court, Round Lake.
The funeral blessing will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Beaven officiating. Interment will be in Avon Centre cemetery, Grayslake. Memorials to a Hospice organization of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Info: 847-546-3300.

Travis D. Truitt
Travis D. Truitt was born October 21, 1963 in Waukegan, IL and was selected from the garden on Saturday, May 31, 2003. Travis confessed Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Terrance Johnson of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Travis graduated from North Chicago High School in 1981. He later attended Triton College and completed his education at DeVry University.
Travis has one child, daughter, Tyeller M. Truitt, whom he enjoyed watching countless hours of basketball games with her. He also coached her 6th grade basketball team at St. Anastasia School.
Travis was employed by the City of Lake Forest, but later relocated to Bloomington, Illinois to work in the family business "Gibson Construction Company".
He leaves to cherish his mother, Lula Thomason, daughter Tyeller Truitt, father, Jimmy Truitt Jr., grandmothers, Lillie Wallace and Mary Geater, six uncles, five aunts and a host of great uncles, great aunts, cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Glenn Thomason, Jr., grandfathers, Louis Geater and Jimmy Truitt, Sr., grandmother, Floyd Lee Truitt, great grandmothers Julia Love and Mattie Geater, an uncle, Ezell Truitt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday June 7, 2003 at St. John Baptist Church, 708 Greenwood Ave., Waukegan, Illinois with Rev. Jimmie Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories cemetery, North Chicago, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Glenn A. York, age 45, passed away on Sunday June 1, 2003, in Fort Meyers, Florida. He was formerly of Antioch, IL.

Lolita K. Zimmermann
Lolita K. Zimmermann, 92, of Gurnee, IL, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003 at her home. She was born August 16, 1910 in Chicago, was a former resident of Wilmette and Lincolnshire, living in Gurnee for the past 12 years. She was a graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, was a former opera singer and a wonderful artist, of Japanese style paintings. She and her late husband owned the Reha Glass Company in Chicago, was a member of Christ Church, Lake Forest, and would do volunteer reading to pre school students in Gurnee in her 80's and 90's.
Surviving are her son William Zimmermann of Buffalo Grove; three grandchildren, Bradford (Sherri) Zimlaw, Kimberly and Jacqueline Zimmermann; four great grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Madison and Torrance. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Zimmermann on December 19, 2000.
A memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Christ Church, Lake Forest, 100 N. Waukegan Road. Arrangements are by the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville. Info: 847-362-3009.

Marguerite F. Anderson
Marguerite F. Anderson, age 77, of Grayslake, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at her home. She was born in Chicago, to the late John and Virginia Fraser. A graduate of Taft High School, she attended business college for two years and worked as a secretary and office manager for manufacturing and insurance firms.
In 1946 she married the late John "Jack" Anderson. In their 53 years together, they had a daughter and two sons, and lived in Chicago, Colorado, Mundelein, and Grayslake.
Her family and friends were the focus of her life. She loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, and a friend. She thrived on hosting and cooking for people and created a loving home filled with lively conversation and laughter. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, crafts, golf, and duplicate bridge. She was always loved in her church and was an active member of Circle 7 of the United Protestant Church. After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively around the country and wintered in Arizona.
She is survived by her children Carole (Don) Guilliams of Oregon, Steve (Mary) Anderson of Arkansas, and Doug (Sally) Anderson of Grayslake, her five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the United Protestant Church of Grayslake, 54 S. Whitney, Grayslake, IL 60030. Friends of the family are invited to visit from 4 until 8 PM on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Gregorio Cardenas
Gregorio Cardenas, 75, of Waukegan, passed away Friday May 30, 2003 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville. He was born August 13, 1928 in Mexico and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan. Mr. Cardenas was a landscaper.
Survivors include his wife Elia Cardenas of Waukegan; two sons, Greg and Luis (Alma) of Waukegan; two daughters, Cristina and Connie of Waukegan; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St. Funeral services are pending. Burial will be in Coahuila, Mexico. For information call (847) 336-0127.

Jimmy Doyle Dulaney
Jimmy Doyle Dulaney, 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 2, 2003. He came to know the Lord at the age of 17 at a Bible Camp.
Jimmy was born December 13, 1936 in Fulton, Mississippi and came to Zion in 1944. He was a member of Zion Bible Church and he retired in 1997 form Avon Cosmetics in Morton Grove, Illinois after 39 1/2 years.
Survivors include his wife of 44 1/2 years, Wanda; children, Donald (Peggy) Dulaney, David (Kelly) Dulaney and Diane (Robert) Martinelli all of Zion; 11 grandchildren, Kati (fiance, Buddy Hargett), Ryan, Heather, Kyle, Spencer, Amy Joy, Matthew, Heidi, Lyndsey, Collin and Jynell; and a brother, Bobby (Elaine) Dulaney of Waukegan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Dulaney; a sister, Dorothy McDaniel; and by his father and mother, Ralvis and Bessie Dulaney.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the Zion Bible Church, 2633 Emmaus Avenue, Zion with Pastor David Denlinger officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Robert Lewis Snook
Robert Lewis Snook, longtime respected Waukegan lawyer, passed away peacefully at his home in Waukegan on May 31, 2003. He was 84 years old and had lived a good life. Memorial services celebrating the depth of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Waukegan at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 6, 2003. Visitation will be held Thursday June 5 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Road.
He joins his son Robert whose life was violently taken in 1991. He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years Millicent, a daughter Rebecca (Bill) Mitchell of California and three grandchildren; William and Gavin Mitchell and Chris Snook.
Bob was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 28, 1918 to Lewis and Martha Snook. The family moved to Whitehall, Michigan when Bob was in high school. He attended college at Western Michigan University where he met Millicent Larimer. They were married in 1942. During World War II, Bob served in the Navy Intelligence in Annapolis, MD. He received his law degree from the University of Illinois, College of Law in 1950 and joined the firm of Hall, Meyer & Carey in Lake County. He became a partner in Hall, Meyer, Van Deusen, Holmberg, Snook and May in 1961.
A past president and life member of the Lake County Bar Association, Robert Snook was also a member of the Chicago Bar Association and numerous other legal organizations. He belonged to the Jefferson Inn of Court, the Waukegan City Club, was a shriner in the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Elk's Club and of the First United Methodist Church in Waukegan. He also served on the board of Victory Memorial Hospital and the College of Lake County.
Bob's pleasures revolved around his family. He and Millicent were members of the Glen Flora Country Club and enjoyed sailing their boat "The Counselor" while a longtime member of the Waukegan Yacht Club. Bob and his son Rob often sailed together and father and son eventually formed their own law firm.
Robert is survived by a sister, Joanne (Bob) Tazelaar of Colorado, a sister in law and brother in law Phyllis and Robert Wegner of Michigan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Virginia and a brother Glenn.
The family respectfully requests that donations be made in his name to the First United Methodist Church, 128 North Martin Luther King Drive, Waukegan, IL 60085.
