Donald R. Jacobs
Donald R. Jacobs, 60, of Green Oaks, IL passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 31, 1943 in Chicago, was a former resident of Niles, living in Green Oaks for the past 20 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Lane Tech High School in Chicago and a former employee of the Bell & Howell Corporation. Don was an excellent gunsmith, a member of the N.R.A., the Delavan Gun Club, Conservation Club of Kenosha County and a nuisance trapper, often removing wild animals and birds from unwanted areas.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Jacobs; and sons, Douglas and Paul Jacobs all of Green Oaks; his father, Kenneth Jacobs; and sister Kathy (Ed) Kubic, all of Park Ridge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Jacobs.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory. Info: 847-336-3009.

Shirle' A. Jeschawitz
Shirle' A. Jeschawitz, 61, of Round Lake died Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, after an extended illness.
She was born January 29, 1942 in Hornersville, Missouri, the daughter of Roy W. and Pauline (Smith) Chambers.
Her family moved to Muncie, Indiana, where Shirle' attended elementary school. Shirle' was a 1960 graduate of Cowan High School in Cowan, Indiana. After high school, Shirle' moved to and settled in the Chicago area and moved to Round Lake in 1983. On April 25, 1981, she married Joseph P. Jeschawitz in Palatine, IL.
Shirle' was an avid golfer, bowler and bridge player, and belonged to several local clubs and organizations. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, grace and generosity. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many loving and supportive friends.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Joseph P. Jeschawitz of Round Lake; two daughters, Krista (Rick) Geoffrion of Tuxedo Park, New York and Lora (Bryan) Jeschawitz Bohan of Huntsville, Alabama; and two granddaughters, Murphy and Madison Bohan also of Huntsville; four sisters, Sue (Lee) Foster of Stroh, Indiana, Sharon Murrin and Sheila "Chick" Chambers both of Muncie, IN and Sandie Zvanut of Skokie; a brother, Ronald W. Chambers of Muncie; a sister-in-law, Kathleen (Spence) McKinney of Decorah, IA; three nephews; and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 N. Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Rd), Round Lake.
The Funeral service will be at 10 AM Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the funeral home with the Rev. Lisle Kauffman of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Round Lake officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

James T. Parat
James T. Parat, 63, of Schaumburg, IL passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at his home. He was born September 14, 1939 in Chicago and had been a Schaumburg resident for the past 17 years. He was a 1957 graduate and lifetime alumni member of Lane Tech High School in Chicago and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim was retired and had served as a financial analyst for IBM for many years.
Surviving are his parents, Bernice and Henry Sentowski of Grayslake; his brother, Ron (Ruth) Parat of Norridge; a sister, Cathy (Andrew) Wilkinson of Loudon, TN; and many nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chet Parat; and a sister, Carol Morgan.
Prayers will begin at 11:15 AM Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville and services will continue to St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Fremont Center for Funeral Mass at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arlene Pene
Arlene Pene, 55, of Waukegan, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2003 at her home. She was born January 22, 1948 in Saxonburg, PA, and was a life long homemaker. She was an active member and a volunteer at St. Anastasia Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauren N. Raichandani of Zion. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Pene.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Ave., Waukegan, with Father McCarthy officiating. Interment will be in Ascension cemetery. Ralph E. Wilcox
Ralph E. Wilcox, 73, of Round Lake, passed away at his home on May 23, 2003. He was born in Chicago on March 13, 1930 to the late Corine (nee Petersen) and Earl Wilcox. He was a Korean War veteran, and worked as an inspector for Komatsu Dresser in Libertyville until he retired in 1990.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lorraine (nee Hainline) Wilcox; his daughter Janice (Charles) Cochran of AL; his grandchildren, Beth Cochran of Round Lake; and Matthew Cochran of KY; and ten nephews and four nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Dave Wilcox.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORIUM, LTD, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment is at 1 p.m., May 29, 2003 in Oakwood cemetery, Macomb, IL. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the funeral chapel. Rev. Rudy Evensen, 76, of Spring Hill, FL; former pastor at the Gospel Ranch in Lake Villa, IL. World War II Navy Veteran, went to be with the Lord May 22, 2003. Loving brother of Mona (Bob) O'Reilley; Bob (Evie); John (Ruth); Gloria (Roger) Shipman; Corky (Skip) Neubarth and the late Edgar (the late Frances). Dearest uncle of 21 nieces and nephews.
Career Evangelist and Missionary.

Ron Glaves
Ron Glaves, 82, a resident of McCook, Nebraska and former area resident died on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Nebraska.
He was born on February 4, 1921 to Alfred and Selena Glaves.
Mr. Glaves was the former owner of Glaves Heating & Air Conditioning in Lake Forest for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Radio Operator and Gunner, entering the service October 18, 1942. During his service with the Army, he completed 50 missions in Europe.
Survivors include his wife, MaryLou; 12 children; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred Glaves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lillie; three sons, Steve, Clyde and infant son, Daniel.
A Graveside service will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 30, 2003 at Grant cemetery off Molidor Road in Ingleside, Illinois.

Arlene Pene

Ruth E. Brondyk
Ruth E. Brondyk, 80, of West Bend, Wisconsin, formerly of Libertyville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2003. She was born in White Cloud, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Aina (Rantanen) Staugas. She married Harold D. Brondyk on June 28, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Leonard Staugas, William Staugas and Kenneth Staugas.
She was a registeren nurse for over 31 years, working as a school nurse the last 12 years with Libertyville Grade School District 70. Retirement years were spent in Brevard, NC. In 1999, Ruth moved to Green Valley, AZ where she made many dear friends. Her last three months, she was in West Bend, WI to be nearer family. Ruth mad friends wherever she traveled; she'll be remembered for her gift of communication with family and friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Julie (Charlid) Brown of Rock Hill, SC, Connie (George) Anderson of Fond Du Lac, WI, Bettie (Paul) Downie of Fort Wayne, IN, Margie (Jim) Brooksher of Grayslake, IL; a son, William (Laura) Brondyk of Mansfield, MA; and ten grandchildren.
Friends may share memories of Ruth at her memorial service on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 2 PM. The service will be held at the Libertyville Sports Complex, Conference Room 3, 1950 N. Highway 45, Libertyville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 800-227-2345.

Joseph H. Cullen
Joseph H. Cullen, 81, of Pell Lake, WI, formerly of Libertyville, died Friday December 13, 2002 at his home. He was a World War II veteran and had lived most of his life in Libertyville until recently moving to Pell Lake. He was born December 12, 1921 in Chicago.
Survived by his children Gary (Karen) of Georgia, Larry (Julie) of Gurnee, Terry and Carrie; his grandchildren Robert, Daniel, Matthew, Jeffrey, Joseph, Stephanie, Donovan, and Kyle; his brother Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Emily (nee Zeitler); a sister Evelyn; and three brothers Eugene, James and William.
Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, May 28, 2003 in the Chapel of Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. It was asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, LTD. Information: (847) 362-2626.

Neal T. Landry, Sr.
Neal T. Landry, Sr., 65, of Antioch passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry, IL. He was born October 23, 1937 in New Orleans, LA, the son of Bernard and Alma Landry.
He served in the U.S. Navy and had lived in Park Ridge before moving to Antioch in 1987. He worked as an operating engineer and was a long time member of the Operating Engineers Local #150. Neal enjoyed boating, building houses, snow skiing and fishing. On September 7, 1984, he married Sherry (Feulner) Barker in New Orleans, LA.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry; two sons, Henry "Buzzy" (B.J.) Landry of Slidell, LA and Neal Landry Jr. of Carol Stream, IL; a daughter, Kim (Curtis) Brown of Kennesaw, GA; and a step daughter, Kimberlee (Marc) Mosher of Oak Park, IL; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Bernie (Dolores) Landry in Virginia.
preceded in death by three brothers, Roland and twins Perry and Jerry; and a sister, Mae.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 3 PM Saturday, May 24, 2003 at STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch. Funeral Services and interment will be private.

Mary L. Perez
Mary L. Perez, 63, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003 in Moroleon, GTO, Mexico. She was born on December 14, 1939 in Arkansas to Paul and Frances Cruz. She was married in November, 1959, to Miguel L. Perez, Sr., formerly of Waukegan. The couple moved to Mexico in 1995 after their retirement from Abbott Laboratories. Mary loved to sew, shop, and was a wonderful cook. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Miguel; her son Manuel; five grandchildren Monique, Miguel III, Margarita, Manuel Jr. and Madeline; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Paul Cruz of Pensacola, FL, Ray (Karen) Cruz of Alabama, Lazaro (Carol) Cruz of Arkansas, and Manuel (Janet) Cruz of Gurnee; three sisters Helen (Hilario) Martinez of Waukegan, Rose (Nick Sr.) Medina of Waukegan, and Jessie (Gerald) Petrovic of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Miguel Jr.; her parents; two brothers, Mel Cruz and Tony Andrade; and one sister Socorro Torres.
She will be remembered during the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at Holy Family Church in Waukegan. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Parish.

Robert E. Saugstad
Robert E. Saugstad, 76 years old of Antigo, WI formerly of Antioch, IL and Bristol, WI passed away Friday, May 23, 2003 at Langlade Memorial Hospital, Antigo, WI. He was born November 13, 1926 in LaCrosse, WI the son of the late Eddie and Minnie (Olson) Saugstad. He grew up on his father's farm near Westby, Wisconsin. As a young United States Army draftee, he was stationed for a time in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon his return he spent the majority of his years as a truck driver for various companies including time as a long-haul tractor-trailer driver. He also worked as a skilled heavy crane operator for International Harvester Company near his home in Antioch, IL. After retiring he devoted his time to maintaining his lakeside home in Westfield, WI and spending the winter months at his condominium in Orange Beach, Alabama. On April 17, 1972 he married Donna Growney in Chicago and she preceded him in death on November 16, 1994.
Survivors include his companion, Mildred Beattie of Antigo, WI; one brother, Theodore Saugstad of Marietta, Georgia and several nieces and a nephew.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at South Bristol cemetery, Bristol Twp., WI. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 25, 2003 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) Antioch, IL.

Joseph E. Cankar
Joseph E. Cankar, 81, of Gurnee and a life long resident of Lake County died Monday, May 19, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan.
He was born April 19, 1922 in North Chicago, IL to John and Frances (nee Gregorka) Cankar.
Joe was married to Margaret (nee Maddy) for 56 years, she preceded him in death April 13, 1999. He retired from OMC in Waukegan in 1984 and also worked at the U.S. Steel Mill. And years ago, owned and operated the Speedway Tavern along with his brother-in-law Al Skokowski.
Joe was a member of St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth. He was a World War II veteran with the Army Air Force. He also belonged to K.S.K.J. Lodge #53, was a past member of Gurnee American Legion Post # 771, actively involved in Gurnee Boys Baseball, Boy Scout Troop 77 and the Steel Workers Retirees Club. He graduated from Mother of God School and Waukegan Township High School.
Joe is survived by his children, Lloyd Cankar of Gurnee, IL and Linda Cankar of Arlington, TX; his brother, Stanley (Florence) Cankar of Waukegan; his sisters, Mary "Mimi" Witek of Gurnee and Frances "Fritzie" Lisk of Waukegan; several nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and Frank Cankar; his sisters, Jean "Skokie" Skokowski and Mildred Tait; and his parents, John and Frances Cankar.
Visitation was 5 to 8 PM on Thursday at THE SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee and Funeral Mass was held at 10 AM at St. Patrick Church on Friday, May 23, 2003. Burial will follow at Ascension cemetery.

Thomas F. Graham
Thomas F. Graham, 84, of Janesville, WI died peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, May 20, 2003. He was born October 19, 1918 in Waukegan, IL, to Thomas M. and Anna (Rudd) Graham. After graduating from Warren Township High School in Gurnee, IL, he received a Business Education Degree from Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, IL in 1940. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. He was commissioned First Lt. in 1943 and assigned to the 93rd Chemical Mortar Battalion in 1944. He served over seas for one year in the Middle East and was in the final push against Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
Tom came to Janesville in 1948 as a Sales Representative for Parker Pen. After leaving Parker, he was employed by the Wisconsin State Employment offices in Beloit and Janesville. He left after 14 years to start his own tax consulting business, "Graham Services". He served as a substitute rural mail carrier many years and was a licensed real estate broker. On October 22, 1949, he married Helen Meyers Dyle at St. Patrick's Church.
Tom belonged to Elks Lodge #254 for 54 years, serving as Chaplain in the 50's. He was a member of The Loyal Order of the Moose #197, and a life-time member of the Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. He belonged to Nativity of Mary Catholic Church.
Tom is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Dennis (Suzi) Graham of Janesville; a step son and step daughter, Douglas (Sharon) Dyle of Janesville and Donna Falconer of La Crescent, MN; eight grandchildren, Lisa Lyon of Maine, Deborah Tatroe of Milwaukee, Bridget (Mark) Olson of Orfordville, WI, Valarie Rankin of Rhode Island, Andrew and Tyler Falconer of La Crescent, MN, Nina (Meth) Graham and Eric Graham of Janesville; four great grandchildren, Megan Tatroe, Aric and Alexyz Olson and Camerin Thong; a brother, Frank T. "Mick" Graham of Libertyville, IL and a sister, Ann Skyrius of Waukegan, IL. Many nieces and nephews and a special cousin, John Mullery of North Chicago, IL also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Michael; brothers, Ed and Walter; and sisters, Helen Victor, Elizabeth Drobnick, Mary Miller and Margaret "Peg" Deuel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at 2 PM at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 315 E. Wall St. with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. A visitation will take place at Nativity of Mary Church from 1 PM until time of Mass at 2 PM. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials to HospiceCare, Inc, Nativity of Mary Church Handicapped Fund or Home Health United would be appreciated by the family.
