Roger Scott
Roger Scott, 77, of St. Petersburg, FL. and formerly of Zion, IL., died Thursday, August 5, 2004 in Canton, NC.
He graduated from Zion-Benton High School. Served in the Army during WWII. He was a Building Contractor in the area for many years.
Surviving family includes his wife of 58 years, Barbra (Talkington) Scott; three sons, Mark W. (Sandra L.), Scott and Roger Dale (Donna L.); one daughter, Lori Scott; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie and Bryan Scott.
A Memorial Funeral Service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 3:00 PM, at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Peacefield Mausoleum Chapel, Clearwater, FL.
The family prefers, if you wish, that contributions be made to the Silver Bluff Nursing Home ECAP Fund, 100 Silver Bluff Dr., Canton, NC 28716.

Norm Stofferahn
Norm Stofferahn, 77, of Kenosha, formerly of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Friday, August 13, 2004 at home. Norm was born November 11, 1926 in Lake Field, Minnesota and moved to Winthrop Harbor in the late 1940's following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp. He began working at Wetzel & Turner car dealership in Waukegan and later worked for Johnson Motors., He then opened and operated Norm's Service Station at 11th and Sheridan Road in the Harbor, operating there for 28 years. He also served as both Trustee and Mayor for the Village of Winthrop Harbor and he was instrumental in getting street lights in the Village. While in business, he was also well known for his work on Lawnmowers, small engines and he sold snow mobiles and campers. Norm also served on the Winthrop Harbor School Board, he sponsored and coached little league, pony league and girls softball, was also instrumental in organizing the Harbor Civil Defense and he was a founding member of both the Push & Pull Snowmobile Club and the Boating Club, both of Winthrop Harbor. Recently, Norm has been attending First Assembly of God Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; children, Kathleen (Richard) Yecoshenko of Minot, North Dakota and Mark (Terri) Stofferahn of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Todd (Janelle) Yecoshenko, Troy (Sharon) Yecoshenko, Justin (Diana) Stofferahn, Brandon (Crystal) Stofferahn and Sara Stofferahn; and three great grandchildren, Kylee Stofferahn and Madison and Addy Yecoshenko. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Trent Yecoshenko; his father and mother, Christ and Ella Stofferahn; eight brothers; and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2004 at 10:30 AM at First Assembly of God Church, 10700 75th St., Kenosha with Pastor Jason Hirsch officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 17, 2004 from 5 to 8 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. 847-746-1234.

Madeline (Lynne) J. Sullins
Madeline (Lynne) J. Sullins, 59, a former resident of Green Oaks passed away at home on August 11, 2004.
She was born January 21, 1945, in Chicago, IL. She worked side by side with her husband Chuck in operating Jiffy Cleaners in North Chicago for many years prior to retirement. She was a very artistic person and gifted seamstress. She had a love for making beautiful things.
Surviving are her husband, Charles H. Sullins; her daughter, Deborah A. Oborny and two grandchildren, Alexandra R. Oborny and Jacob J. Oborny. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Schreckeis and her husband, John of San Diego, California.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra M. Sullins and her father, Matthew Kodis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at the Gurnee Funeral Home, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, Illinois. Visitation will precede the funeral Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M.
A second service will be held in Southern Illinois at Bailey Funeral Home, 705 North First Street, Vienna, IL on Monday, August 16, 2004. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. with the service at 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Judith Varvil
Judith Varvil, 68, of Kenosha passed away Friday, August 13, 2004 at her residence. Born August 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ewald and Bertha (Feldt) Lemke. She was a lifetime resident of Kenosha educated in local schools, a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. On August 17, 1972 in Waukegan,Illinois, she married Merle Varvil. She was employed in Customer Service at Johns-Manville in Waukegan, Illinois for over 30 years. She then worked for CTC Distribution in Kenosha until 1999. She was a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church,
Surviving are her husband, Merle Varvil of Kenosha; a son, Mark (LeAnn) Varvil of Kenosha; and a niece, Wendy (Patrick) Schilling of Libertyville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Roland Lemke.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2004 at Good Shephard Lutheran Church, 4311 - 104th Ave., Pleasant Prairie WI at 12 Noon. Entombment to follow at Good Shephard Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 AM until the time of services at Good Shephard Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Good Shephard Lutheran School would be appreciated by the family. The PROKO FUNERAL HOME is serving the Varvil family.

Donnell E. Bergman
Donnell E. Bergman, 80, of Largo, FL, died Monday, August 11. He came to Florida in 1983 from Waukegan, IL where he was a life long resident. In World War II he served in the Navy Seabees. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after 25 years as a machinist. He was a Catholic, a member of St. Anastasia Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a 51 year member of the American Legion.
Survivors include two sisters, Charlotte Strykowski and Marjorie Iwinski, both of Largo, FL, and four neices and four nephews.
Services will be held at the National Cremation Society in Clearwater, FL on Saturday, August 16. (727) 536-0494.

Martha J. Carnes
Martha J. Carnes, 82, of Round Lake Beach, formerly of Waukegan, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Winchester House. She was born May 18, 1921 in Munhall, PA.
She was a secretary at U.S. Steel.
Survived by her husband of 54 years, Harry D.; a daughter, Diane (John) Hovey; two granddaughters, Natalie (Tim) Platson and Laura Osterberg; two sisters, Olive Klotzbaugh and Betty Downey; and many nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by a son, David; a sister, June Rowe; and a brother, Charles Nuss.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 15, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday and 10 to 11 AM on Friday at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee.

George A. Clark
George A. Clark, 74, of Crystal Lake died suddenly at his home on August 11. He was born February 24, 1929 to Ruth Mary (Hill) and John S. Clark in Waukegan, where is father was superintendent of schools for many years.
On March 28, 1952, he and Judith Schriner were married at the First Methodist Church in Waukegan.
He was a 1947 graduate of Waukegan Township High School where he played football and basketball, and a 1950 graduate of Beloit College where he majored in chemistry and physics and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He joined the American Can Company in 1950 from which he retired in 1987, as Director of Technical Services, International Division.
Survivors include his wife Judith; three children, David (Jim Mimnaugh) of Ann Arbor, MI, Barbara (Ed) Dryg of Los Gatos, CA, and Jim (Amy) Clark of Crystal Lake. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jacob and Alyssa Clark of Crystal Lake and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Don, and a sister, Lois Manley.
He had many interests some of which included sports, bridge, fishing, birding, working in his shop and especially helping others. He was active in Crystal Lake Flag Football, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He also was active in the YMCA Indian Guides program.
Friends may greet the family at the QUERHAMMER-FLAGG FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, August 14 from 1:30 p.m. until the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Roger C. Dart officiating. Interment will be private.

Florence Feala
Florence Feala, resident of Libertyville Towers, Libertyville, died peacefully Sunday morning, August 10, 2003 surrounded by her family. Born the youngest of seven children on September 12, 1916 in Auburndale, Wisconsin to Patrick Joseph and Magdalein Spindler Mohan., She married Bernard E. Feala on September 2, 1935. Florence was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, serving in the Women's Guild and as a Theresian; she was named Woman of the Year in 1997.
Florence is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Karen and Jerry Klosinski of Huntley, IL and Patricia Bragg of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Jay, Kris, John (Debbie), Jim (Suzanne) and April (Kelly); great grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Brickell and Monet.
A Mass in memory of Florence will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, August 15, at St. Joseph's Church, 121 East Maple Ave., Libertyville; a luncheon will be served immediately after. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. 1-800-425-4444.

Howard Chandler Harlan, Jr.
Howard Chandler Harlan, Jr., 75, a lifelong resident of Mundelein who was born February 22, 1928 in Hopewell, Virginia, died Sunday, August 10th in Biloxi, Mississippi. Howard was a World War II Navy Veteran who served on the USS Vesole in the Pacific. He was the owner of Midwest Furnace Company in Waukegan until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Lake County Contractors Association and the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 73 with over 50 years of service. He also was a long standing member of the Shriners, American Legion, V.F.W. and the Elks. Also being one of the founding members of the Diamond Lake Water Ski Club. Howard was known to all as a man who celebrated life and loved people.
Howard is survived by Margaret Harlan, his loving wife Gloria Harlan, dear sons Howard (Trish) Harlan, Randall Fisher, Michael (Claudia) Fisher, dear daughters Patricia (Richard) Parks, Vikki (Wayne) McElhose, Laura (Rick) Stoker, Angela Fisher, dear siblings Burtis (Jane) Harlan, Ruth Ann (Max Ward) Markle, Donald (Carole) Austin, Peggy (John) Gilles, fond grandchildren Julie Harlan, Shawn (Lynn) Harlan, Michael Sommer, Ethan and Harrison Fisher, Wyatt Stoker, Shannon McElhose, Ethan and Aiden Brandt, Hailee Parks, cherished great grandchildren Morgan Laurel Harlan and Nathan Chandler Harlan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Laurel, dear sons Michael and James Fisher.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM Saturday, with a Masonic Service at 9:30 AM, and to follow with fondest memories of Howard to be shared by all at the KRISTAN FUNERAL HOME P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (2 blocks west of Rt. 45 on Rt. 176) Mundelein. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to P.A.D.S. Nicole Hicks
Nicole Hicks, age 51, of Round Lake Beach, died Sunday, August 10, 2003 at her home.
She was born September 16, 1951, in Chicago to Robert and Willene (Barron) Hicks.
A resident of Round Lake Beach for the past 8 years, she had formerly lived in Waukegan, Milwaukee, and Johnsburg. She received her bachelor degree in education from the St. Francis College of Joliet, Illinois.
She was a former sister with the Felician Order on the north side of Chicago for twenty years. She was an educator for primary education at the Lake Shore Catholic Academy in Waukegan, where she will be greatly missed by her fellow educators, and present and former students.
An artist, Nicole lived to paint. She enjoyed the role of peacemaker, and was known for her unselfish love of people, always putting others before herself.
She is survived by her best friend, Melanie Ricchetti of Round Lake Beach; five brothers and sisters, Mary (the late James) Sobolewski of Richton Park, David (Judith) Hicks of Johnsburg, Catherine (Joe) Postel of Riverside, Anthony (fiance Cherie McCombs) Hicks of Roanoke, Virginia, Laura Montez of Markham; her stepfather, Tony Montez of Markham; and many nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003 at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 N. Rosedale Court (at Cedar Lake Road), Round Lake.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2003 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church Street, Johnsburg. The Rev. Robert Balog will officiate.
Inurnment will be at St. John the Baptist cemetery, Johnsburg.
Memorials would be appreciated to Children's Memorial Hospital, 2300 Children's Plaza, Chicago, IL 60614.

Glen "Bud" Edward Imle, Jr.
Glen "Bud" Edward Imle, Jr., 60, of Waukegan passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 10, 2003 at Vista Provena St. Therese Medical Center. He was born April 13, 1943 in Waukegan.
Glen was employed at Outboard Marine Corporation for 40 years before retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patricia (nee Golwitzer); two children, Michelle Terrell of Gurnee and James Imle of Beach Park; two grandchildren, Stephen Shauer and Brandon Terrell, both of Gurnee; two sisters, Shirley (Bob) Borland of Mosinee, WI and Mary Lou (Chuck) Hartmann of Land O'Lakes, WI; brother-in-law, Wayne (Pam) Golwitzer of Arlington Heights, IL; sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson of Wood Dale, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Gertrude Imle, Sr; and his son-in-law, Kurtis Terrell.
Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Thursday, August 14, 2003 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud Imle's memory, may be made to the American Heart Association.

June S. Lyon
June S. Lyon, 85, passed away on August 10, 2003 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center after a year of illness. Born in southern Wisconsin, June lived most of her life in northern Illinois. She married John James Lyon in 1938. They remained devoted mates for 52 years until John passed away in 1990. The last few years Don Oilschlager has been a loving, devoted and loyal companion. June is further survived by her sister, Lois Hawkinson and her two sons, Rockwell Lyon and John Lyon; her two grandchildren, Thad Lyon and Cecily Lyon.
She was an excellent mother to her two sons, giving them much love and attention. When her boys were raised she went to work at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago. She retired from there after 20 years. She blossomed even more in the 1990's when she took up water color painting. She could often be seen at week end art shows selling her popular paintings. She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Gurnee Community Church on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. A reception will follow at the church. Arrangements are under the care of PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan.

Jeanette H. Marks
Jeanette H. Marks, 90, of Prairie View, IL passed away Monday, August 11, 2003 at the Libertyville Manor. She was born September 12, 1912 in Hubbard Woods, IL and had been a Lake County resident for most of her life. She was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Highland Park and was active with the Vernon Hills Senior Center.
Surviving are two children, Richard (Sarah, nee Behrens) Marks of Grayslake and Karen Gravenhorst of Bond, Colorado; two step children, Virginia (Clarence) Fairley and Raymond Markiewiecz; she was also a very loving grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Molly Lindsay; by her husband, Walter Marks in 1987; by her sons, Douglas and Harry Dever; her step son, Wally Marks; granddaughter, Kerrie Gravenhorst; and brothers, James and Earl Lindsay.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Friday, August 15, 2003 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will be in Mooney cemetery in Highland Park. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite children's charity in her memory. Info: 847-362-3009.

Wendi L. Nelson
Wendi L. Nelson, 38, of Libertyville died suddenly Friday, August 8, 2003 in Waukegan. She was born June 15, 1965 in Libertyville and was a 1983 graduate of Libertyville High School. Wendi was a highly respected swim instructor at Libertyville's Adler Pool and will be remembered for her contagious laugh along with her tremendous sense of humor.
She is survived by her loving and devoted companion of many years, Mike Brainerd; her sisters, Tracey (Joe) Cerami of Streamwood, Dawn (Dave) Johnson of Round Lake Beach, Heather (Scott) Coleman of Lake Villa and April (Frank) Soto of Antioch; her grandmothers, Mona Kobzan and Margaret Nelson; along with her nieces and nephews whom she adored, Jamie, Cassie, Zachary, Teagan, Courtney, Patrick and Troy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Patricia; and her uncle, Jim.
Funeral services will be 8 PM Friday August 15, 2003 at McMurrough Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville where there will be visitation Friday from 3 PM until time of Service.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to either the D.A.R.E., M.A.D.D. or the S.A.D.D. program. 847-362-2626.

George L. Ruzicka
George L. Ruzicka, 76, a resident of McHenry, IL since 1974, formerly of North Riverside, IL, and a former business owner died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at home.
He was born on May 5, 1927 to George and Rose (nee Musil) Ruzicka, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served on the North Riverside Volunteer Fire Department. He married Donna (nee Edwards) and had been employed by Illinois Bell Telephone for 35 years before his retirement. He and his wife had formerly owned and operated Ruzicka's Resort on Pistakee Lake and enjoyed boating on the Chain O'Lakes.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Ruzicka of McHenry, IL; his three daughters, Erica (Jon) Siddall of Vancouver, Canada, LeAnne Edwards of Burlingame, California and Peggy (Walt) Kubalanza III of Libertyville, IL; a grandson, James Siddall; a granddaughter, Katelyn Kubalanza; a sister, Grace (Art) Ormaniec of Manns Harbor, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 15, 2003 from 4 to 7 PM at the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, IL (The Chapel on the Lake, 1 block West of Rte. 12, 1/2 block North of Grand Ave.) Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home with the Rev.
