Lorraine E. Albers
Lorraine E. Albers, 83, of Gurnee, passed away July 22, 2003 at Lake Forest Hospital. She was born October 24, 1919 in Chicago, and was a member of Lake County Gem and Mineral Society. She loved to travel in her motor home with her late husband Thomas. She also loved to make jewelry in her spare time.
Survivors include a son, Ronald A. (Rachel) Albers, Sr. of Gurnee, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas in 1993 and her brother, Warren Andre.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Entombment at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday only at the funeral home. Memorials to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. For funeral information call (847) 336-0127.

Margaret Louise Davis
Margaret "Maggie" Louise Davis, age 39, of Perham, Minnesota, passed away on March 6, 2003.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the REDLIN FUNERAL HOME, 201 8th Avenue in Baraboo, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. Forrest Clark officiating.

Madeline "Gina" Diaz
Madeline "Gina" Diaz, nee Montano, 39, of Zion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2003, in Zion.
Gina was born December 7, 1963 in Waukegan, and had lived in the area all of her life. She married Samuel Diaz on October 24, 1987 at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Zion. She was employed at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion and was a loving daughter and devoted wife and mother, and will be dearly missed by her family.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel; three children: Jennifer, Nicole and Samuel II, all of Zion. Also surviving are her mother, Nancy Montano of Beach Park; father, Ramon (Isabel) Montano of Lutz, FL; a brother, Juan (Sara) Croschere of Beach Park; three sisters: Juanita Montano of Waukegan, Wanda Montano of Gurnee and Helena (Tony) Santiago of Zion. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Gina was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ramon Montano and Marcolina Lopez, and maternal grandparents, Henry P. and Rhea Croschere.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Christian Center, 2600 Lewis Avenue, Zion, with Pastor Timothy R. Eddy officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 24, 2003, from the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, (847) 746-1234, from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to the family.

Halton "Whitey" Grant
Halton Grant, 66 years old, of Bristol, WI, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his home. He was born September 12, 1936 in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, the son of the late Halton and Florence (Farnham) Grant. He moved to Chicago in 1975 and to Bristol in 1994. Before his retirement he had worked as a truck driver in the dry cleaning business and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local of Chicago. Whitey was honored by Mayor Daley of Chicago by declaring December 1st as "Whitey Grant Day" in recognition for his saving a life.
Survivors include his children: Diana (Jorge) Cartagena of Waukegan, IL, Michael Grant of Baltimore, MD, and Robyn Tolbert of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren: Amanda, Louren and Marysa; two great-grandchildren: Chaela and Chase; and his loving friends, Jerry and Darlene Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME of ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rt. 83). Interment will be in Hillside cemetery, Antioch. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

George F. Hoblik
George F. Hoblik, age 85, of Fox Lake, formerly of Western Springs, passed away July 21, 2003 at his home. He was born August 9, 1917 in Chicago. He was Past Master and a 50 year member of Mizpah Lodge AF and AM, and life member of Medinah Temple. He was also a proud graduate of the University of Illinois, Class of 1938.
George was the beloved husband of Blanche (nee Zeman) for 60 years. Loving father of Don (Marcy), and dear grandfather of Kristin, Sara and Kevin.
Visitation will be on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at SPRING GROVE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 8103 Wilmot Rd. (1 mile north of Rt. 12), Spring Grove. Rev. Lisle Kauffman will officiate. Interment will be private at Millburn cemetery. For funeral information call (815) 675-0550.

Bernice R. Hubacz
Bernice R. Hubacz, nee Motyka, 83, passed on to her eternal reward on Monday, July 21, 2003. Born in Chicago, IL on November 25, 1919, she was a resident of North Chicago, IL for the past 35 years. Bernice was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church of North Chicago, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, USA, Theodore Roosevelt Chapter #4 of Chicago, IL, which she served as a past president. Also, she volunteered many hours at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago.
Bernice, a homemaker, was a loving mother, beloved grandmother, and a most revered great-grandmother. She is survived by two daughters: Theresa (Joseph L.) Pudlo of North Chicago, IL and Roseanne (James J.) Sass of Muskego, WI; and a son, Arthur G. (Karen) Hubacz of Oak Creek, WI; seven grandchildren: Joseph A. (Melinda) Pudlo and Julie Anne (Michael) Wagner, both of Grayslake, IL, Jacqueline (James) Koukol of Gurnee, IL, Denise (David) Sattler of Oconomowoc, WI, Debbie (David Smith) Sass of Milwaukee, WI, Arthur W. (Katina) Hubacz of Milwaukee, WI, and Robert (Gina) Hubacz of Franklin, WI; nine great-grandchildren, all who loved her dearly; two sisters-in-law: Eleanor Motyka of Chicago, IL and Mary Motyka of Mt. Prospect, IL, along with numerous close friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur J. in 1992; seven brothers: John, Alex, Frank, Thomas, Michael, Walter, and Joseph Motyka, all of Chicago; two sisters: Catherine Jarosz-Korczakowski and Sophie Dybas, also of Chicago, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 25, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 910 - 14th St., North Chicago, IL. Rev. James E. Merold officiating. Bernice will be laid to rest in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Barbara J. Krelle
Barbara J. Krelle died in Walnut Creek, CA on July 18. She was born in Williamsburg, IN on January 1, 1920. She attended business college, briefly worked for a dairy where she met her husband of 59 years Russ N. Krelle, an advertising salesman for The News Sun. He preceded her in death in 1999. They moved to Zion, IL in 1950 where she raised two sons. During that time she worked as a credit manager for Commonwealth Edison until her retirement in 1980. Upon moving to Rossmoor, a retirement community, in 1985, Barb became active in the After Fivers Dance Club and was a board member of the Swim Club. She also enjoyed golfing and going to plays.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Spencer (Terry), Steve (Laurie); four grandchildren, Colette, Raquel (Brad), Shari (Joe), Scott and two great granddaughters, Olivia and Ava.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Contra Costa Hospice, 2051 Harrison St., Concord, CA 94520 or American Cancer Society.

John W. Muratori
John W. Muratori, 67, of Wildwood, passed away July 22, 203, at Condell Medial Center in Libertyville. He was born in Chicago on March 24, 1936, the son of Joseph and Frances (nee Mordini) Muratori. He was the owner of BJ's Restaurant from 1970-1985. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a resident of Wildwood for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church parish.
He is survived by his children: Michael (Dawn) Muratori of Island Lake and Linda (Milo) Johnson of Round Lake Beach; his granddaughters: Abrey and Tiffany; his brothers: Joseph (Tina) Muratori of Chicago and Jim (Marlene) Muratori of Tampa, FL; a sister, Clara Marie Rio of Hacienda, CA; his brothers-in-law: Ray (Joanne) Sakiewicz and Jerry (Bobbi) Sakiewicz, both of Round Lake Beach; his aunt, Mary Mordini of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lou Muratori in 2000.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003, at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Mildred "Millie" Novak
Mildred "Millie" Novak, 91, of Waukegan, Illinois died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at St. Therese Hospital.
Millie was born September 16, 1911 in Waukegan, IL, and lived in this area most of her life. She was retired in 1974 from Victory Hospital. She was a former member of Mother of God Church and was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of Catholic Womens Club of Lake County, St. Anne's Lodge KSKJ #127, Christian Mothers Club.
Millie is survived by her loving children, Frank (Valarie nee Bastys) Novak of Gurnee and Margaret "Margie" Seveska of Lake Villa; a daughter-in-law, Judy Novak, son-in-law, James Murphy; seven grandchildren, Linda (Christopher) Stoyanoff, Loretta Novak, Kevin (Jennifer) Murphy, Michelle (Christopher) Walsh, Tamara (Kevin) Finch, Brian Seveska and Laura (Greg) Falk; six great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank "Bobo" in 1975; a son James "Jimmy" Novak in 1986; a daughter, Carol Murphy, 2002; a sister, Stephanie Van Gerrewey, 2000; a brother, Rudolph Bencina in 1989 and son-in-law, Dennis Seveska in 1980.
Visitations will be held Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the GURNEE/SALATA FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Av., Gurnee, and on Thursday from 10-10:30 a.m. at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 24, 2003 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 900 14th St., North Chicago, IL. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL.

Vincenza Pace
Vincenza Pace, 94, of Highland Park, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in Highland Park. She was born November 10, 1908 in Chicago.
Vincenza was the wife of the late Pasquale. Mother of Carmella (the late Karl) Meyer of Highland Park and Theresa (Lorry) Werhane of Highland Park. Sister of Alphonse Serpico. Grandmother of six, great grandmother of 14, and great-great grandmother of one.
Visitation is from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003 at KELLEY & SPALDING FUNERAL HOME, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25 at St. James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, IL. Interment is private. Robert L. Payne
Robert L. Payne, 62, of Beach Park, died on Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the V.A. Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Robert was born November 17, 1940, in Gary, Indiana to Samuel E. and Pearl Payne of Zion, Illinois.
Robert was a long time resident of Zion. He attended Zion schools and graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1959. He also graduated from the Advance Trade School in Chicago, IL and completed courses in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. Robert was a licensed Electrician and Journeyman. He joined the United States Air Force in 1961 and served as an Air Force jet mechanic. Robert was honorably discharged in 1965. During his technical career, he worked for U.S. Steel, Anchor Hocking, the Department of the Navy, Plantation Bakery, Fiat Allis and Ocean Spray Cranberry. Robert started his own electrical business in 1982, naming it Payne's Electrical and Repair Service. He performed electrical maintenance and repair throughout Lake and Cook County, and in the State of Wisconsin. Robert served on the board of Electrical Commission for the City of Zion. He volunteered for Zion's Civil Defense and was an CB operator for many years using the handle "Golden Hawk." Robert will always be remembered for his friendliness and "never meeting a stranger" and would always try to help anyone in need. He truly loved his family and his family and friends will sorely miss him.
Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, June (Lee), of Beach Park and his three daughters: Jaqui Payne of Skokie, Vivian (William) Roberts of Zion, and Robin Payne of Skokie. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Pierce, Devin, and "Jordie" (Jordan); a twin brother, Richard (Annie) Payne of Guam; a sister, Irene (Coleman) Bass, of Zion; a brother, Samuel (Alyce) Payne of Kansas City, Missouri; and his uncle, Willis Payne Sr. of Zion; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel E. Payne Sr. and Pearl Payne, and by his son, Brian.
The family will greet visitors on Friday, July 25, 2003, from 10-11 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with a memorial service following immediately at 11 a.m. Brother Garfield Grace Jr. of the Brothers After the Order of Jesus will officiate the service.

Patricia Ann Stickles
Patricia Ann Stickles, age 62, of Park City passed away July 21, 2003 at Condell Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1940 in Decatur, IL.
Survived by her husband of 46 years, Dessie "Jack"; three children: Robert Stickles, Michelle "Shelley" Bower, and Jacob Robert Stickles; two brothers: Ronald (Sebina) Causey and Eugene Causey; a sister, Reba Marie Causey.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME of GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd. Burial will be private.

Beatrice Tremper
Beatrice Tremper (nee Wagner), 91, passed away at her Beach Park, Illinois home on Monday evening, July 21, 2003.
Beatrice was born January 25, 1912 in Chicago and grew up in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. In 1942 the family moved to Elmwood Park where she lived until 1996 when she moved to Beach Park. She will be remembered for her positive view of life, her loyalty to her family and her service to her Lord.
She was married to John Tremper on November 14, 1936. He preceded her in death in April 1968. She is survived by her three children; Donald (Jean) Tremper of Gurnee, Douglas (Ruth) Tremper of Wheaton and Virginia (David) MacPhail of Beach Park; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother Richard Wagner of Florida; one sister-in-law Emma Tremper of California; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2003 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Stearns and Dilleys Road, Gurnee, with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m., Dr. Joseph Boerman officiating. Interment at Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines, will be held later and will be private for the family. Memorial donations to Immanuel Baptist Church building fund in her memory have been suggested. Florence Ollie Warship
Florence Ollie Warship (nee Copeland), of Waukegan, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Provena Saint Therese Medical Center, Waukegan, Illinois. She was born October 18, 1919, in Alligator, Mississippi, the second of eight children born to the union of Fred, Sr. and Lula Tillis Copeland.
In 1925, her parents moved the family to Waukegan, Illinois.
Florence's parents brought her up in the church attending Sunday School and Sunshine Band. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church as a candidate for baptism at the age of twelve under the pastorate of the late Rev. T. Moore King. She was active in the Baptist Young People Union later known as Baptist Training Union. She served as an usher of the church more than fifty years, a Sunday School Teacher, Church Clerk, Trustee, served on the Board of Christian Education, Young People's Counselor, a member of the Esther Circle of the Mission Department, member of the Benevolence Committee and a Board Member of Shiloh Federal Credit Union. She volunteered in the Soup Kitchen and the Learning Center of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was active with The Waukegan Area Church Women United and served as Secretary of The Waukegan Area Council of Churches during its existence.
Florence received her elementary and high school education at the Lincoln-McAlister School now known as Carmen-Buckner School and the Waukegan Township High School graduating with the class of 1938. She was a graduate of Lake Forest College of Lake Forest Illinois.
Florence's employment included Secretary for the United Service Organization (U.S.O.), the Southside Y.M.C.A., Secretary to a Waukegan attorney for many years, Stenographer and Budget Analyst at the Electronic Supply Office, Great Lakes. She retired from Fort Sheridan as a Budget Analyst after many years of service.
On February 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Eddie Jack Warship, Sr., in Waukegan, Illinois.
The love of people, caring and sharing were important to Florence. She spent much of her time and means helping to care for the elderly, and assisting children and young people in whatever ways she felt was needed.
Florence was active in many community and social organizations, some of which are American Association of University Women (A.A.U.W.), Southside Y.M.C.A Board of Directors, American Legion Baxter Evans Post Women's Auxiliary, Emblem Chapter #140, Order of the Eastern Star, Shawall Court #4, Daughters of Isis, North Shore Court #73, Heroines of Jericho, Order of the Golden Circle and was an Internal Auditor for the Imperial Court, Daughters of Iris. She served as an official for each of these Masonic organizations on the local, state and national level.
Florence leaves to cherish her memory two devoted brothers, J.C. (Thelma) Copeland and Lucius (Catherine) Copeland, of Waukegan, Illinois, sister-in-law, Savannah Copeland, of Waukegan, Illinois, a step-son, Eddie Warship, Jr., a step-daughter, Juanita Angela Warship, of North Chicago, Illinois, four step-grandsons, a loving god-daugher Mary Lou Reese, of Gurnee, Illinois, two god-sons, Purnell Rush, of California, and Tryon Copeland, of Green Oaks, Illinois, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends including special friends, Frances Adams, Ruth Wilson, Dollie Sanders and Minnie Smart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Jack Warship, Sr., her parents, Fred and Lula Tillis Copeland, two sisters, Violet Nellie Gladney, and Mary Virginia Gunn, three brothers, Fred, Jr., Eugene and James Leroy Copeland, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund or any charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 South Genesee Street, Waukegan, Illinois, with Pastor Walstone E. Francis, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, Illinois. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. with Masonic Rites beginning at 10:15 a.m. Funeral arrangements are by BRADSHAW AND RANGE FUNERAL HOME, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, Illinois (847) 662-3553.

Henry N. Wirtala
Henry Nels Wirtala passed away July 20, 2003 at Victory Lakes Nursing Home. He was born June 16, 1914, in Longwood, WI, the son of Nels Henry and Maria Wirtala. On September 23, 1944 he married Lillie Ruusi, she preceded him in death on April 15, 1983.
Survivors include his three sons, Henry Allen (Pat) Wirtala of Menominee, MI, Frederick George Wirtala of Wheaton, IL, and Robert James Wirtala of Waukegan, IL; two daughters, Elaine Marie (Herbert) Berg of Altamont, IL and Marilyn Jean (Scott) Parrish of Glen Ellyn, IL; eleven grandchildren, Cheryl Ann (Brice) Settlemire, Rebecca Lynn (Brian Curtis) Bouty, Dyan Michelle, Joshua Robert, Jacob Ross, Desa Mae, Dana Marie, Shannon and Jaisun Berg, Matthew and Nicholas Parrish; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madelyn Settlemire; and two step grandchildren, Jon Berg and Sarah Auvenshine.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3350 Delany Rd., Waukegan. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Rd., and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with service to follow at the church. Gerald L. "Jerry" Dixon
Gerald L. "Jerry" Dixon, 64, of Lake Bluff, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago. He was born February 12, 1939 in Vincennes, IN, where he was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as an MP and was a member of the American Legion Post #109 in Vail, AZ. Jerry was a former manager at several F.W. Woolworth and Ben Franklin variety stores and had been employed at the Silo Restaurant in Lake Bluff for the past 15 years. He was also a member of the Knollwood Sportsman's Club in Lake Bluff.
Surviving are his sisters, Shirley (Ronald) Morningstar of Ypsilanti, MI, Reba (William) Hall of Cambridge, OH and Mary Jo (John) Tussey of St. Francisville, IL; his nieces, Julayne Hughes, Brenda Morningstar, Gail Kruger, Robin Gable, Lori Stoudt and Cheryl Winkles; his nephews, Gary, Kevin and Philip Hall and Jeffrey Tussey, and 17 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Alma Dixon.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 9 at the Sportsman's Club in Lake Bluff. Visitation will be held at the club for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the Knollwood Sportsman's Club, 17 Arcadia Road, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
