Michael Glenn May
Michael Glenn May, 49, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, formerly of Waukegan, passed away April 11, 2002 at Evanston Hospital. He was born August 11, 1952 in Waukegan, IL.
He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI. He was employed as a Senior Mechanic at Abbott Laboratories.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; one daughter, Margaret Anne; three sons, Forest Glenn "Buzz" May, James George May and Donald Michael May; one granddaughter, Hailey Olivia May; Parents, Harold May and Marion DeVon; two sisters, Kathleen Ann Sanchez and Cheryl Lynn Holzworth as well as two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, 2002 at St. Therese Church, 2020 91st St., Kenosha, WI. Burial will be private. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Wednesday. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM Thursday at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a trust fund for Margaret Ann May c/o Bank of Waukegan.

Akiko Melhorn
(Nee Ogawa)
Akiko Melhorn, 76 of Thousand Oaks, CA, formerly of Waukegan passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002. Akiko was born on February 24, 1926 in Tokyo Japan and became a U.S. citizen in 1956. She lived briefly in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Waukegan in 1959. Akiko was a certified teacher in the art of Japanese floral arrangement (Ikebana) and enjoyed this past time very much. Akiko was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir and arranged floral pieces for the services. Akiko was happiest when surrounded by beautiful flowers, her family and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Melhorn, her daughters Lili (Gordon) Frankel, Lisa (Thomas) Norton, one granddaughter Emalie Miyuki Norton and one sister, Kyoko Ishii of Tokyo, Japan. Akiko was preceded in death by her mother Jun Ogawa, her father Koji Ogawa, her sister Chieko Nishizawa and a brother, Tetsuo Ogawa.
Funeral services will be private in Dayton, Ohio. Memorials to The American Cancer Society would be appreciated in her memory.

Wallene G. Napier
Wallene G. Napier, 79, of Lake Villa, IL passed away on Monday, April 15, 2002 at her home.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James; her children, Nancy Cottini and Darlene (Tom) Van Valkenburgh; her grandchildren, Daniel Young, Kathy Nielson, Mike Van Valkenburgh, Lelsie Phillips and Kelly Napier; her great grandchildren, Leslyn Nielson and Ashley Nielson.
She was preceded in death by her son, James; and her sisters, Irene Morel and Helen Lang.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83, Lake Villa, IL. Interment will be at Irving Park cemetery, Chicago, IL.

Vincent Natalie
Vincent Natalie, 87, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday April 14, 2002 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion. He was born July 26, 1914 in Waukegan and had been a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was retired from the Teamsters Union Local 705.
Survivors include twin daughters Patricia Natalie of Beach Park and Barbara (Phillip) Joiner of Conway, AR and 6 grandchildren, Brian, Carrie, Elizabeth, Vincent, Kevin and Diana. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at Noon, Thursday, April 18, 2002 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, Washington and cemetery Roads in Gurnee. Burial will be at Ascension cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Thursday at the funeral home. Donations to Misericordia Home, 6300 N. Ridge, Chicago, IL 60660 would be greatly appreciated.

Harry G. Needham
Harry G. Needham, age 74, a resident of Ingleside, IL for the past 47 years, formerly of Lake Villa, Chicago and Miami, died Friday, April 12, 2002 at the Condell Memorial Hospital in Libertyville, IL.
He was born on November 26, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Harry G. and Mae (nee Barclay) Needham, and had graduated from Farragut High School. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines. On May 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Joycelyn "Joyce" L. Strutz in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Needham worked as a storekeeper at the City of Lake Forest Public Works Department and worked in maintenance at the Lake Forest Hospital and Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines, IL. He was also head of Maintenance at Gavin and Johnsburg Schools and Condell Memorial Hospital in Libertyville, IL.
He also owned and operated the Center Fix It Shop in Fox Lake, IL before his retirement, and enjoyed home remodeling and repair of all kinds, as well as traveling and camping.
Survivors include his sons: Dr. Lawrence D.C. (Teri) Needham of Wadsworth, IL, Dale (Kathy) Needham of Beach Park, IL, Russell Needham of Oak Park, IL; his daughters: Linda (Jim) Whitlock of Wheaton, IL, Nancy (Andy Camacho) Malinowski of Lake Zurich, IL; 10 grandchildren: Joy and Adam Whitlock of Wheaton, IL, Kyle Needham of Fox Lake, IL, Jon, Tony, Nicholas Needham of Beach Park, IL, Jeremy, Ryan, Derek and Andrew Malinowski of Lake Zurich, IL. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Joycelyn "Joyce" L. Needham (nee Strutz) on July 16, 2001 and by his parents.
Friends of the family may call on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 from 5-8 PM at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd, Fox Lake, IL (The Chapel On The Lake).
Interment will be private.
Memorials for the National Kidney Foundation, 600 S. Federal St, Ste 201, Chicago, IL 60605 will be appreciated by the family.

Laura Lillian Nulk
Laura Lillian Nulk, 99, of Waukegan passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan. Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, we will miss her.
She was born May 17, 1902 in Bassetts, Wisconsin. She retired from the Electronics Supply Office in 1965 after ten years of employment. She loved to crochet and knit and enjoyed giving her handiwork to family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (David) O'Brien and Joyce Janssen both of Waukegan; four granddaughters, Judith Berens, Kim Ludford, Sherry Bankhead and Toni Clayton; 12 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; a brother, Lorenzo Winn of Valparaiso, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Nulk in 1974; her mother and father, Arthur and Etta Winn; four brothers; and four sisters.
Services and internment were private. Arrangements were under the direction of PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 4087 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan.

H.O. Peters
H.O. Peters, 66, of Grayslake passed away Sunday, April 7, 2002 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1935 in Nogales, AZ, the son of the late Joseph and Marina (nee Ortiz) Peters.
Mr. Peters served 4 years with the Navy, mostly in the Orient, serving with West PAC during the Korean War years under Task Force 77 of the 7th Fleet. He spoke 4 languages fluently plus the underwritten Mescalero Apache. He was a third degree Black Belt in the Chung-Do-Kwon system of Taekwondo, a lifetime member of # 2674 in both the International Taekwondo Federation and the United States Taekwondo Federation and was a certified instructor for many years. He was also a member of # F-3 of the USS Arizona (BB-39). Mr. Peters taught, coached and umpired softball teams for years at Warren Township Center, (also Pony Leagues) and volunteered at the Libertyville Nursing Home. He was an excellent writer, storyteller and English language master. He retired from North Shore Gas Company after 30 years as a welder. He was a cartoonist and caricaturist and an award winning Metal Sculptorist. His favorite quote was "I've never known a stranger." and "Open Your Heart." He also taught for 8 years at Wildwood Park District and 4 years at the White Dragon Society.
He leaves his cherished wife Etta (Nee: Myers) whom he was wed to for 42 years; sons Mark (Cindy) Peters, Brett and Skip Peters; daughter Robin (Len) Niemi; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030, (847) 223-8122. Inurnment will be held at the "Punch Bowl" National Memorial cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii. Friends of the family may visit at the Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Robert B. Railey
Robert B. Railey, 78, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI. He was born in Kewanee, Illinois on February 16, 1924, the son of the late Sarah and Robert Railey.
He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the US Air Force in the European Theatre. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lake Villa. He was an owner-operator truck driver and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Verna; his daughters, Linda Wood and Valerie Harvey. Also surviving are his sisters, Ada Bramblett and Elaine Scneck.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert "Red" Railey and Alfred Railey and his sister, Mable Schyman.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 from RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83, Lake Villa, IL to Prince of Peace Church for a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM and Wednesday, 9-10 AM. Funeral info: 847-356-2146.

Margaret S. Salem
Margaret S. Salem, 100, of Lake Zurich, IL, passed away Monday, April 15, 2002 at the Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. She was born September 29, 1901 in Breslau, Germany. She left Germany in 1928, landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia, later New York and finally Chicago, where she went to cosmetology school. Margaret bought property in Echo Lake in 1938 and opened her first beauty shop when she moved from Chicago in 1941. In 1945, she moved to Lake Zurich and opened the first beauty shop in that town, closing it in 1965.
Margaret was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #1026 in Lake Zurich. She became a member of the German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago in 1946, training German Shepherds for over twenty-five years and winning many awards. She was an honorary life member of the Norwest Obedience Club in Palatine.
She belonged to the Lakes Legion Water-Color Guild of Grayslake and attended classes at the College of Lake County from 1977 to well after her 100th birthday. Margaret won many awards for her oil and water-color paintings exhibited throughout Lake County, Southern Wisconsin and Chicago.
Surviving are a step-daughter, Dorothy (Joseph) Prokop of Green Oaks; step-sons, Donald (Pam) Salem of Seymour, TN and William (Marjorie) Salem, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; 2 second cousins, Irma (DuWayne) Stevens of Wheeler, WI and Otto Menthner of Morton Grove; a niece Carol Herman of Algonquin, IL and many other cousins and step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2002 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville, with the Rev. Michael S. Barry, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from Noon until the time of services. Memorial contributions can be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 9752, San Jose, CA 95157 in her memory. Info: 847-362-3009.

Peter R. Samulevich
Peter R. Samulevich, age 54, a resident of Lindenhurst, IL for the past 9 years, formerly of Liverpool, New York, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, IL.
He was born on May 2, 1947 in Nurnberg, Germany to Peter J. and Hildegard (nee Pfalzner) Samulevich, and had served his country for 24 years in the U.S. Army. For the past five years, he was employed with the Lake Villa School District #41 as a Bus Driver, and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Mr. Samulevich actively supported his childrens Soccer, Volleyball and Girl Scouting activities, and was a gourmet cook.
Survivors include 1 son, Nicholas Peter Samulevich and 1 daughter, Christina Marie Samulevich, both of Fox Lake and Lindenhurst, IL; his father, Peter J. (Gene) Samulevich of Hamilton, Montana; 1 brother, Robert Samulevich of Oregon; 1 sister Heidi (Ted) James of Oklahoma; his former wife and longtime friend, Meghan E. Sullivan of Fox Lake, IL. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hildegard (nee Pfalzner) Samulevich.
Friends of the family may call on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake, IL (the Chapel On The Lake). A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lake Villa, IL (Rte. 83 and 132). Private interment will follow. Gennaro M. Scolastico
Gennaro M. Scolastico, 51, of Lindenhurst, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan. Born February 27, 1951 in Chicago he is the son of the late Joseph C. and Rose M. (nee DeCicco) Scolastico. He was known as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his sister, Pat (Bill) Johnson of Lindenhurst, nieces, Jennifer (Phillip) Clark and Jodi Hansen and nephew, Shawn (Jeanine) Hansen.

Walter L. Sorvari
Walter L. Sorvari, 95, of Waukegan, died peacefully on April 12, 2002 at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion, IL. He was born in Kingston, MN on July 27, 1906 to Samuel and Helena Sorvari and moved to Waukegan in 1927.
He was employed at Johnson Motors/OMC for 43 years, an avid golfer, actively involved in his church and the Lake County Community Concert Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Helen Rae; son, Keith (Judy) Sorvari of Plymouth, MN; daughter, Karen (Wallace) Herpich of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Michael Sorvari, Mark (Naomi) Sorvari, Shayn (Cheryl) Herpich, Ingrid Herpich; nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice in 1951; his brothers, Lauri, Mike, Bill and Axel; and sisters, Rose, Jennie and Alma.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 824 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment at North Shore Garden of Memories following service. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Walter J. "Bunker" Bukantis
Walter J. "Bunker" Bukantis, 93, of Waukegan passed away April 13, 2003. He was born on March 19, 1910 in Lithuania, to George and Barbara Bukantis. He was a lifelong resident of Waukegan and member of St. Bartholomew Church.
He worked for the North Chicago Foundry and Johnson Motors before retiring from the North Shore Sanitary District in 1977.
As a young man, he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and enjoyed golf, baseball and bowling. In his later years, he continued as an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who embraced life and all it had to offer. He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Mari-Jo (Jacquette); son-in-law, Thomas (T.J.) and his grandsons, Frank and Walter Jacquette. He is also survived by his extended family of children, Ginny Mulhern, William Paglusch (Sharon), Judith Juieng, Richard Paglusch Sr. (Sharan) and Thomas Paglusch; and grandchildren, Eric Geier, Leslie Geier, Noelle Boice, Thomas Paglusch, Daniel Juieng, Sheila "Baby" McCoramck, Richard Paglusch Jr., Nikole Paglusch, Justin Paglusch; his sisters, Ann Kuzmickus, Veronica Gust and Antoinette Backis; and by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Gertrude Karas and Mary Swartz; his brothers, George Bukantis and Anthony Bukantis; and by a special nephew, Mickey Bukantis.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Holy Family Church, 450 Keller St., Waukegan, Illinois. Burial will be in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the funeral home.

Forrest E. Lindgren
Forrest E. Lindgren, 57, of Ingleside, IL passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003 at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He was born March 28, 1946 in Chicago and had lived in the Fox Lake area for most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, was a former Grant Township Little League Coach and an avid bowler and golfer.
Surviving are five children, Forrest Lindgren Jr, and Jeff Lindgren both living in Pennsylvania, Lisa Lindgren of Scottsdale, AZ, Kelly Lindgren of Fox Lake and Matthew Lindgren of Gurnee; two brothers, Rolland (Linda) Lindgren of Atlanta, GA and Douglas (Kathy) Lombardo of Grayslake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Lindgren; and by his mother and step father, Mary Ellen and Gene Lombardo.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Friday, April 18 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Avenue (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at East Fox Lake cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory. Info: 847-362-3009.
