Stanley F. Pyktel
Stanley F. Pyktel, 89, of Park City, IL and formerly of North Chicago, IL, passed away at home on Thursday, April 14, 2005.
He was born May 7, 1915 in Waukegan, IL and remained a lifelong resident of the area. He worked at Oakes Products (Hudiel Hershey), followed by Abbott Laboratories for 22 years from where he retired in 1981. Stanley served as Alderman of North Chicago for 20 years and was a current member of the Knights of Columbus #731, American Legion Sharvin Post #397 of North Chicago, and the North Chicago Seniors Club. Stanley also served as a medic in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed fishing and golf.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Julia (nee Pencak) Pyktel; loving father of daughters, Joanne (Mike) Christensen of Tomahawk, WI, Darlene (Larry) Boegen of Waukegan, IL and Karen (Gary) Wamboldt of Kenosha, WI; proud grandfather of Tami, Michael, Ricki Lynn, Dawn, Lauren and John; and great grandfather of Rick and Christen. And also by his sister, Florence Gilewski of North Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Edward Pyktel.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee, IL where services will be held at 10 AM on Monday. Burial will follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, IL. Donations may be made to the Catholic Chaplain's Fund in his memory.

Ronald C. "Robbie" Robertson
Ronald C. "Robbie" Robertson, 75, of Waukegan died on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at home.
He was born May 19, 1929 in Mason, IL, and married Martha C. "Sandy" Duran, December 14, 1977, in Kenosha, WI. Robbie was a federal employee for 35 years; and then worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. He was a proud Mason for 41 years and was a member of the Masonic Scottish Rite (Valley of Chicago); Shrine of Rockford; a former Potentate of Tebala 1994; Court Jester 69; Tebala Motor Patrol; and the Order of the Quetzalcadl. Robbie was also known as "Robo the Clown" in parades. He also was a member of American Legion Post #0281.
Survivors include his wife, Martha "Sandy" Robertson; two sons, Dave Robertson of Rochester, NY and Craig (Julie) Robertson of Chicago, IL; five daughters, Maria Kemp of Indianapolis, IN, Sandra Kemp of Fillmore, IN, Diana Smart of Indianapolis, IN, Judith (Jeff) Henderson of Coatesville, IN and Tammie (Amador) Vasquez of Waukegan, IL; granddaughters, Kelly Robertson, Jamie Henderson, Alexandra Hampson, Angela Hobson; grandsons, Jeffrey Henderson Jr., Elliott Hampson and Donald Bishop Jr.; two great grandchildren; a sister, Janice Dell Resch of Decatur, IL; a nephew, Donnie Resch; and a great nephew, Donovan Resch. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cheswold and Bertha Robertson; and a brother-in-law, Dewey Resch.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Deacon Ed Russell of Friendship Baptist Church of Evanston officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2005 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Chicago Shriners Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave, Chicago, IL, 60707.

Marie E. (D'Antonio) Varner
Marie E. (D'Antonio) Varner, 61, of Beach Park, Illinois, and formerly of Wakefield, Michigan, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at home. She fought a long battle with cancer for a year, until it was Gods will to join Himself, her husband and grandparents in heaven. Marie chose her last moments of life, to be surrounded by her loving family and friends.
She was born January 16, 1944, in Ironwood, Michigan, and was a 1961 graduate of Wakefield High School. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park and had been employed at Akzo Nobel in Waukegan, IL, as a supervisor of production planning for about 30 years. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Varner of Elmwood Park, IL, and Sheri Varner of Waukegan, Il; two grandsons, Ryan Matte and Anthony Antol; mother, Josephine D'Antonio of Zion, IL; brother, Eugene "Red" (Phyllis) D'Antonio of Ironwood, Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Varner in 2000, and father, Alexander D'Antonio.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, with Father Jan Krutewicz officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Scleroderma Foundation, 12 Kent Way, Suite 101, Byfield, MA 01922.

Rita Wachowiak (nee O'Connell)
Rita Wachowiak (nee O'Connell) 62, came to this world on October 4, 1942 in London, England and died peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2005, surrounded by her family after a short illness.
Rita worked at Abbott Labs for 27 years before retiring in May, 2000 to enjoy her many interests including: traveling, fine dining, theatre and lunches with her girlfriends.
Rita enjoyed spending time with her grandson Joseph and puttering in her "English Garden" with her pets. She also involved herself in many charities and organizations. Rita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Her joy of life and consideration of others will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her son, Michael (Michele) and their son, Joseph; her dearest daughter, Lisa; loving brother, Gerry (Susan) O'Connell and their children James and Fiona; and a host of nieces and nephews in England.
From her marriage with Joseph Wachowiak, her loving family includes Jerry, Lillian and Louis Wachowiak and their respective families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; father, James; mother, Jenny; and brothers, Patrick and Stanley O'Connell.
Friends may call at the Salata Funeral Home of Gurnee, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, from 3-7 p.m. on Monday only, April 18, only with wake servi ce at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private in England.

Charlotte Johnson-Hill
Charlotte (Gramy) Johnson-Hill boarded the Train of Glory on April 12, 2001 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, IL. She was born November 18, 1940 to her late parents Doc and Arvurne Hawthorne in Rockford, Illinois.
Charlotte accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and boldly spread His word to all in whom she came in contact with. She attended St. Joseph and St. Anastasia Parish for many years.
Singing was her livelihood, and enjoyed singing both spiritual and jazz music. Her greatest accomplishment was when she was given an opportunity to sing for the "Old Town School of Music" in Chicago, IL. She kept a special place in her heart for the homeless and those with special needs.
She leaves to cherish her memories 2 loving daughters: Arvurne Stinnette and Modena Cansler of Waukegan, IL., 7 grandchildren: Jonathan, Jazmine, Jimmy, Kasey, Kenyante, Ajonia and Ananius, special daughter Maleka Madison, special sons Anthony, Scott, and Ronald Harris, family members Deanice Stinette, Virginia Stinnette and children and a host of dear friends along with special friends A.W., M.O., D.B. and R.J. She was preceded in death by parents Doc and Arvurne Hawthorne, grandson Lamonte Harris and dear friends Louis Henri and Clyde Stinette.
Services will be held Monday, April 16, 2001 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 800 S. Genesee St., Waukegan, Walstone Francis, Pastor. Visitation will begin at 12:30 with funeral services at 1:30. Edwina A. Indelak
Edwina A. Indelak, age 82, of Wildwood, Illinois died on Good Friday, April 13, 2001 at Hospice of North Shore in Skokie, IL.
She was born December 14, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Wildwood, IL. in 1957. She was employed as a beautician for 50 years in Chicago and was a member of St. Gilbert's Catholic Church in Grayslake.
Edwina is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marion, two sons, James (Barbara) Indelak of Niles, IL., and Patrick (Elaine) Indelak of Lake Villa, IL., and a daughter, Karen (Rick) Gomski of St. Charles, MO., three grandchildren, Douglas Indelak, Brian and Laura Gomski, a sister, Irene (the late Angelo) Ficarelli of Chicago, IL., and nephews Tommy Ficarelli and Ronnie (Susan) Ficarelli. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Katherine Duda, a brother Emil Duda and a sister Lillian Duda.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday April 17, 2001 at St. Gilbert's Catholic Church in Grayslake, IL. with interment to follow at Maryhill cemetery in Niles, IL. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 P.M. on Monday at the SALATA GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee, IL.

Helen Ann Mocogni
Helen Ann Mocogni, age 75 of Highwood passed away peacefully in Christ Jesus on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at her home.
She was born May 2, 1925 in Highland Park, Illinois and was a Highwood resident all her life. She was a member of St. James Church and was the retired secretary of the St. James School, Highwood.
Survivors include her three children Paul (Pat) Mocogni, Steve (Donna) Mocogni and Frida (Patrick) Leverick; six grandchildren Erik and Amanda Mocogni, Robert and Matthew Leverick and Jamie and Jodi Nanini; one sister Marietta (Mike) Mocogni and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Steve on June 3, 1999. One sister Lina (John) Ori and her parents Edidio and Frida Mocogni.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 15, 2001 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the SEGUIN & SYMONDS FUNERAL HOME, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood. Willie L. Myles
Willie L. Myles, 69, of Chandler, AZ., and formerly of Lake County for many years, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2001 in Chandler.
He was born January 11, 1932 in Madison, Mississippi. He was a member, Deacon and Trustee of the Congregational Church of the Valley in Chandler. He was an avid bowler and had been employed prior to his retirement as a Maintenance Supervisor at Lake Forest High School for over 26 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlee; children Ricky Myles of Waukegan, Cindy Richards-Taylor of Waukegan, Cheryl (Vinson) Tate of North Chicago, John S. Richards, Jr., of Kenosha, WI., and Crystal Richards of Chandler, AZ., 2 sisters and 2 brothers: Penny Coleman of Jackson, MS., Carl E. Myers of Wayne, IL., Dorothy Dickie of Brandon, MS., and Russell Myers of Detroit, MI., 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah "Di" and T.J. Weakley.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2001 at PETERSON-PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan with Rev. Terry Atwater officiating. Interment will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Karen Niemi-Shank
Mass of Christian burial for Karen Niemi-Shank, 47, of Lexington, KY., is 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at St.Mary's Catholic Church, Fremont Center, 22333 W. Erhart Rd., Mundelein, IL. Interment will follow in St.Mary's cemetery.
She was born July 20, 1953 in Tacoma, WA., to Richard and Mary Jean Niemi and died suddenly Tuesday April 10, 2001 in Tampa, FL. Karen was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School and received a B.S. degree from Marquette University School of Nursing. She married Walter Shank in 1975 and has been employed by Family Care Center in Lexington, KY. for the past 10 years. She was a devoted and loving mother of her daughter Carrie Marie.
She is survived by her daughter Carrie, husband Wally, parents Rich and Jean Niemi, her brother Rick (Dawn) Niemi, sisters Kathy (Regi) Starzyk, Kay (Greg) Giammario, Kris (Larry) Funke, and Kim (Dan) Shanner and many loving nieces and nephews. Her passing leaves a deep void in their lives, but they are comforted by the knowledge that she is resting in God's gently care.

Eugene E. Peters, 78, of Roscoe, IL., formerly of Mundelein, died Thursday April 12, 2001 at home. He was born December 7, 1922 in Brookville, Ohio.
He is survived by his 2 sons Philip Peters, Randall (Pamela) Peters, 2 daughters: Pamela (Robert) Wilcox, Cynthia (Robert) Colucio, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita.

Carol Mae Yarc
Carol Mae Yarc, 60 years old of Gurnee, Illinois passed away Thursday April 12, 2001 at Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Waukegan, IL. She was born Nov. 30, 1940 in Libertyville, IL., the daughter of Frank A. and Bernice (Krase) Gaura. Carol was a life long resident of Lake County, living in Libertyville, Grayslake and Lake Villa before moving to Gurnee in 1989. She received an associates degree in Art from CLC in Grayslake, IL., and was a teachers aid in Special Education. Presently she was employed as a case worker for the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Waukegan, IL. She was a member of St. Peter Church in Antioch and was an Eucharist Minister and a founding member of the singles club of the church. Other memberships and interests included the A.A.R.P., The American Diabetes Association, Cooking, Ceramics, Traveling and Music.
Survivors include her daughter Laura Shepherd of Lake Villa, IL., and her son Brian (Susan) Yarc of Antioch, IL., 4 grandchildren: Hannah and Abigail Shepherd and Megan and Brian Jr. Yarc, her mother Bernice Gaura of Mundelein, IL., her brother Charles (Eileen) Gaura of Bettenborf, IA. and her sister Patricia Huffman of Libertyville, IL. She was preceded in death by her father Frank A. Gaura in 1992.
Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch. Interment will be in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Friends may call at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St., (Rte 83) from 4 until 8 P.M. Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association in her memory.

Mary E. Archdale
Mary E. Archdale, 95, a lifelong resident of Waukegan passed away on Friday, April 11, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital. She was born April 27, 1907 in Waukegan.
Mary was a member of St. Dismas Parish. He hobby was baking and making sure the people around her had some. She also enjoyed ceramics and was very creative when it came to creating holiday decorations. She worked at American Steel and Wire Company for 30 years and later worked for her brothers at Archdale's Restaurant.
Survivors include her brother, George Archdale; and her sister, Virginia Gould; also survived by a niece; and three nephews, Carol Butkus, Raymond Butkus, Robert Archdale and Phil Archdale; and many loving great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anna (nee Bomkamp) Archdale; two brothers, Theodore Archdale and Walter Archdale.
Friends may call at PETERSON & PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd, Waukegan on Monday, April 14, 2003 from 6 to 8 PM. Walter J. "Bunker" Bukantis
Walter J. "Bunker" Bukantis, 93, of Waukegan passed away April 13, 2003. He was born on March 19, 1910 in Lithuania, to George and Barbara Bukantis. He was a lifelong resident of Waukegan and member of St. Bartholomew Church.
He worked for the North Chicago Foundry and Johnson Motors before retiring from the North Shore Sanitary District in 1977.
As a young man, he was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and enjoyed golf, baseball and bowling. In his later years, he continued as an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who embraced life and all it had to offer. He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Mari-Jo (Jacquette); son-in-law, Thomas (T.J.) and his grandsons, Frank and Walter Jacquette. He is also survived by his extended family of children, Ginny Mulhern, William Paglusch (Sharon), Judith Juieng, Richard Paglusch Sr. (Sharan) and Thomas Paglusch; and grandchildren, Eric Geier, Leslie Geier, Noelle Boice, Thomas Paglusch, Daniel Juieng, Sheila "Baby" McCoramck, Richard Paglusch Jr., Nikole Paglusch, Justin Paglusch; his sisters, Veronica Gust and Antosie Backis; and by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Gertrude Karas and Mary Swartz; his brothers, George Bukantis and Anthony Bukantis; and by a special nephew, Michel Bukantis.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Holy Family Church, 450 Keller St., Waukegan, Illinois. Burial will be in Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Eaton
Elizabeth Eaton, 87, a resident of Lake Forest since 1973, died Saturday, April 12, 2003. She was born May 8, 1915 in Half Day, IL. Mrs. Eaton was a member of Christ Church, Lake Forest, IL.
Wife of the late Lawrence (1975). Aunt of Jennie Clemens of Mundelein and Barbara Paves of Lake Mills. Sister of Mildred Heard of Lake Mills.
Visitation 6 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 followed by the Funeral Service at WENBAN FUNERAL HOME, 320 E. Vine Ave., Lake Forest, IL. Burial private. Marie Frances (Mols) Fredricksen
Marie Fredricksen of Waukegan died April 11, 2003. Marie was born October 6, 1913 in Chicago. She lived in Long Lake from 1952 to 1999 before moving to Onan Super Suites. She was a member of the Lake Villa VFW Post #4308 and Fox Lake Fire Department Auxiliaries, the Sorosis Chapter of the Eastern Star, The White Shrine and the Lake County Farm Bureau. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, who worked in the Administration Offices of Lake County Fair for 40 years.
Sweethearts for over 70 years, Marie married her beloved husband, Henry on October 30, 1937. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Barbara (William) Taugner of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and JoEllyn Fredricksen of Grunee; as well as grandsons, Robert Taugner of Minneapolis and Richard (Nicole) Taugner of Stevens Point; and her much-loved companion-cat, Precious. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Nelson of Florida; nephews, Howard "Duke" (Martha) Schneider, Dick (Carol) and Tom (Jackie) Fredricksen; and niece, Carol (George) Michalski; and many dear friends including Alice (Ken) Moody and Carol (Richard) Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank in 2000; and by her parents, Herman and Marie (Fehrenbacher) Mols; and brothers, Fred and Herman.
Friends may visit Monday, April 14, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. cemetery Rd, Gurnee from 5:30 to 7 PM. Private burial services will be held at Highland Memorial cemetery in Gurnee.

Verner "Ben" Haapanen
Verner "Ben" Haapanen, 87, of Waukegan and Lake Worth, Florida, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at the JFK Medical Center in Lake Worth, Florida following complications from surgery.
Ben was born June 11, 1915 in Finlayson, Minnesota. For over 30 years, Ben was employed by the Cooperative Trading Company, in both Finlayson, Minnesota and Waukegan, Illinois. He worked as a milkman and later the manager of the retail grocery store. After the Coop's closing, Ben worked for Johnson Motors for ten years, finally retiring in 1980. Ben and Irene spent 23 retired years wintering in Lake Worth, Florida, while maintaining their home in Waukegan. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waukegan for 55 years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Irene; two sons, Jerry (Katherine) Haapanen of Waukegan and Richard (Linda) Haapanen of Beach Park; and a daughter, Beatrice Haapanen of Chicago. Ben is also survived by five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Don and Howard Haapanen and John and Herman Autio; and a sister, Mary Autio Herald.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at 11 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3350 N. Delany Rd, Waukegan with Pastor Jeffrey Koth officiating. Private interment will follow at North Shore Garden of Memories, North Chicago.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2003 from 6 to 9 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, and at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM preceding the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Waukegan, Illinois.
