Karen Niemi-Shank
Mass of Christian burial for Karen Niemi-Shank, 47, of Lexington, KY., is 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at St.Mary's Catholic Church, Fremont Center, 22333 W. Erhart Rd., Mundelein, IL. Interment will follow in St.Mary's cemetery.
She was born July 20, 1953 in Tacoma, WA., to Richard and Mary Jean Niemi and died suddenly Tuesday April 10, 2001 in Tampa, FL. Karen was a graduate of Waukegan Township High School and received a B.S. degree from Marquette University School of Nursing. She married Walter Shank in 1975 and has been employed by Family Care Center in Lexington, KY. for the past 10 years. She was a devoted and loving mother of her daughter Carrie Marie.
She is survived by her daughter Carrie, husband Wally, parents Rich and Jean Niemi, her brother Rick (Dawn) Niemi, sisters Kathy (Regi) Starzyk, Kay (Greg) Giammario, Kris (Larry) Funke, and Kim (Dan) Shanner and many loving nieces and nephews. Her passing leaves a deep void in their lives, but they are comforted by the knowledge that she is resting in God's gently care.

Albert T. Beyers
Albert T. Beyers, 80 years old of Bristol, WI passed away Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 at St. Catherine's Medical Complex, Pleasant Prairie, WI. He was born July 7, 1923 in Kansas City, KS, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Domme) Beyers.
He had lived in Bristol since 1948, where he was a member, usher and on the Building Committee at St. Scholastica Church, a former member of Holy Name Society and former sexton of the church cemetery for many years, during which time the cemetery was rejuvenated. He served 28 years on the Bristol Township Fire Department and was also a Bristol Township Constable. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a paratrooper, who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, where he became a POW, earning many decorations , including a purple heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2930. On June 2, 1948, he married Jean Rompesky in Topeka, KS, where they met, while they were working at the Veteran's Hospital. Before his retirement in 1988 from Illinois Range, he had worked at St Benedict Abbey, was a Union Steward with American Motors in Kenosha, WI and for Drew Oil Company in Waukegan, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; four daughters, Catherine Easthon and Beverly Beyers, both of Kenosha, Patricia (John) Dayer of Beach Park, IL and Carol (Kurt) Budovec of Bristol, WI; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John (Mary) Beyers in California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and one grandson, John David Parrish.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at St. Scholastica Church, Bristol, WI. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St (Rte 83) Antioch, IL. For Info: 847-395-4000.

Lucile DalPonte
Lucile DalPonte, 89, a Libertyville resident for the past 13 years, passed away Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her home. She was born December 13, 1917 in St. James, Missouri and was a former 40 year resident of Highland Park.She was a former member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Highland Park and a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville. While living in Highland Park, Lucile was employed by the Stevens and Garnett Clothing Store.
Surviving are three children, Ronald (Jean) DalPonte of Lake Bluff, Joyce Smith of Vernon Hills and Edwin DalPonte of Palatine; four grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel DalPonte and Lynn and Chris Smith; and her great grandson, Gavin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Angela Maddalon; by her husband, Guido in 1988; by her brothers, Albert and Angelo; and sisters, Joanna, Mary and Norina.
Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave (Rt. 176), Libertyville and services will continue to St. Joseph Church for Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery. Kenneth J. Fowler
Kenneth Fowler, 81, of Cadiz, KY. passed away on April 9, 2004 in in Grayslake, IL. He was born January 18, 1923 in Sharon, TN.
Mr. Fowler was a retired Machinist and attended Canton Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-Law, Edith and Ray Duncanson of Hopkinsville, KY, daughter, Linda Fowler, daughter and son-in-law Robin and Paul Gibson of Sacramento, CA, sister, Jean Allen of Hopkinsville, KY, brother, Joseph Blackford Fowler of Panama City, FL, sister, Barbara Sholar of Hopkinsville, KY, sister, Martha Nell Wade of Gracey, KY, 5 grandchildren, Nancie M. Gibson, Tomas J. Lopez, Paul R. Gibson IV, Kenneth R. Gibson and Ray Duncanson. 1 great grandchild, Christopher A. Gibson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jane Fowler June 23, 1997, father, Joseph Blackford Fowler, mother, Alice Thomas Fowler, brother, Dorris Rhea Fowler, brother, John Chilton Fowler, brother, Maxie Kidell Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday April 13, 2004 at GOODWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 138 MAIN ST. CADIZ, KY. with the Reverend Paul Cannon officiating. Visitation was held on Monday April 12, 2004 between 4pm and 8:30pm

Walter J. Graham, Sr.
Walter J. Graham, Sr., 76, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Wadsworth, IL passed away Sunday, October 20, 2002 in Lakeland. He was born October 14, 1926 in Chicago, IL.
He worked for the A & P Tea Company for 32 years and later worked for the Berry Tire Company in Libertyville, IL. He was a veteran of World War II.
At the time of his death, Walter left to cherish his memory, his wife of 55 years, Shirley (nee Smith) Graham (passed away March 10, 2004); his son, Corky (Julie) of Palm Harbor, FL; his daughter, Doreen of Zion, IL; four grandchildren, David (Jeri) Graham of Antioch, IL, Matthew Graham of Wintrop Harbor, IL, Erica and Lenny Gajewski of Palm Harbor; three great grandchildren, D.J., and twins Cameron and Cassandra of Antioch; and his sister, Marie (Bob) French of Solana Beach, CA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Graham.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held for HE and his wife SHIRLEY A. GRAHAM, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St. Antioch, IL. Interment of their cremains will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville. Wayne Haas
Wayne R. Haas, age 46, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at his home in Antioch, IL where family and friends surrounded him. He was born on October 30, 1957 in Puerto Rico to his mother, Maria Haas and his later father, Herbert Haas. He was a 13-year employee of Abbott Laboratories and a member of The Chapel. Wayne would consider his greatest accomplishments as being his relationship with Tami, his wife of 23 years, his relationship with his daughter, Christina age 17, and his relationship with Jesus his Lord and Savior.
Wayne is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, and his brothers, Herb (Marie) Haas, Frank (Karen) Haas, Bill Haas, Gerry (Lynn) Haas, and his sister, Mitzi (Kyle) Stone.
His father preceded him in death.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at The Chapel, 25270 West Highway 60, Grayslake, IL 60030. The Pastor Scott Chapman will be officiating. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL. Rose A. Keller
Rose A. Keller (nee Knoll), 97, of Beach Park, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at her home.
Rose was born on June 4, 1906 in St. Peter, KS, to Peter A. Knoll and Rosa Vonfelt Knoll and raised on a Kansas wheat farm. She lived in the Waukegan-Beach Park area for the past 73 years. She was the housekeeper at St. Anastasia's Rectory from 1930-1942. From 1942-1945 she worked at the Vascoloy Remet Company in Waukegan. From 1945 until her retirement in 1969 she was a Nursing Assistant at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital and Downey Veterans Hospital.
She graduated from the adult evening school of Waukegan Township High School in 1959. She loved her family, friends and home and her trips back to Kansas to see her relatives and friends there. She was an original Charter Member of Our Lady of Humility Church. She was also a member of the Lake County Homemakers, the Ladies Club of Humility Church and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She and her late husband, Edward, were also members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by one sister, Anna Knoll of Victoria, KS; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly but will remember her love and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edward A. Keller; an infant son, Edward Peter Keller; her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, April 12, 2004 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church10655 W. Wadsworth Road, Zion. Interment will follow at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville. Jane A. Marsh (nee Fournier)
Jane A. Marsh, age 87 of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Zion. Jane was born June 6, 1916 in Saginaw, MI to Arthur and Clara Fournier.
Jane grew up in Saginaw, MI and she joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. She was a member of the first class of WAVES. She attended basic training in Bainbridge, MD and received additional training at the University of Indiana, before assignment to the U.S. Naval Station, Pasco, WA. Within three years, she was promoted to Chief Disbursing Clerk. Her duty stations included Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL, Receiving Station, St. Louis, MO and Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D.C. While she was stationed in St. Louis, MO, she met Chief Andrew "Gary" Marsh and they were married , November 18, 1947. She resigned from active duty in 1948, but remained "True Blue Navy" , until her death.
Jane settled in Waukegan in 1960. She worked at Great Lakes Naval Base until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and a member of St. Dismas Catholic Church. She was a very talented artist and won several 1ST prize ribbons.
Jane will be remembered as a woman of honor, courage and integrity. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her wonderful spirit, generosity and heart-warming smile brightened the lives of family and friends.
Jane is survived by her three children, Sharon Marsh of Waukegan, twin sons, Larry (LeAnne) of Granger, IN and Jerry (Faith) Marsh of Davenport, IA; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Shanna, and Jameson Marsh of Granger, IN, and Bobby and Nick Granger of Davenport, IA; sisters, Clara Marie Beach of Birch Run, MI and Mary Fournier of Saginaw; one brother, Charles Fournier of Saginaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Gary; her parents; and three brothers, Albert, Arthur and Henri Fournier.
The funeral Mass for Jane will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Avenue, Waukegan, IL. Father Ryan celebrant. Entombment with military honors, immediately following at Warren Mausoleum Chapel of Peace, 1495 N. cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031. Henry G. Melton
Henry G. "Hank" Melton, 73, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Friday, April 9, 2004 at Sheridan Medical Complex in Kenosha, WI.
Hank was born September 3, 1930 in Murphysboro, IL, and had lived in Chicago, for 46 years before moving to Winthrop Harbor three years ago. He attended Zion East congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1989 he retired from the Merchandise Mart in Chicago and prior to that her worked as a Punch Press Operator for Bates Printing Company in Chicago. A Veteran, he served after World War II with the Army and during the Korean Conflict with the Marines.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Martha; children, Laura Ann (John) Dokla of Chicago, Betty Louise Melton of Winthrop Harbor and John Arthur (Maria) Melton of Winthrop Harbor; two grandchildren, Andrew Scott Melton and Lyndsey Robyn Melton; brothers and sisters, Ruth Kelly of Chicago, Hortense Lee of Waterloo, IL, Donald Melton of Schiller Park, IL, Bettie Robinson of Waterloo, IL, Gloria Gibson of Waterloo, Patrick (Wanda) Melton of Japan and Shirley Zarate of Waterloo; and several nephews, nieces, and great and great-great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Melton; one sister, Dorothy Kessler and his parents Arthur and Mary Melton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, with Kwame Nyanya of Zion East Congregation, Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. PFC Geoffrey S. Morris
PFC Geoffrey S. Morris, 19, US Marine Corps, Weapons Company of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Regiment, 1st Marine Division 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, died on Palm Sunday, April 4th, 2004 in combat with enemy forces near the towns of Fallujah and Ramadi in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.
Born at Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington, Geoffrey turned 19 on February 1st, 2004. Geoff grew up in Gurnee, IL as the big brother of five other siblings. He played football at the Warren Township Center and local high school for eight years. Geoff loved to hunt pheasants, geese and ducks, and fish for salmon and trout on Lake Michigan with his father and friends. He felt fulfilled when playing paintball in the back yard with his buddies. He was most content teaching chess, playing games and entertaining younger kids, and had built some relationships with local Iraqi children as well.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in his last year of High School and began his training soon after graduation in 2003. He was last stationed at Camp Pendleton before being deployed to Iraq on February 15th.
Geoff was a man of deep conviction and passion for God, his Country, and the Marine Corps. He was a simple man requiring little to enjoy life. His commitment to the mission of bringing peace and stability to the Iraqi people and the region was unwavering. His commitment to protecting our Country's Freedom and the Honorable way he did that is beyond reproach.

Survived by his father, Kirk S. and devoted second mother, Vickie (Vander Werff, Bisk). Geoffrey was the oldest of six children, Jennifer, Lauren, Taylor, Austin and little Dylan. Other surviving family members are grandparents, Ralph W. Morris of Lake Barrington and Virginia Balmes of Crystal Lake; grandparents, Gary L. and Jane Hein; uncles, Doug and Gary Hein all from Decatur, IL; grandparent, Helen Lundstrom of Lake Barrington; uncles, Christopher Morris of Johnsonburg, IL, Timothy Morris of Hebron, Todd Woods of Portland, OR; and aunt, Melissa Barrett of Mason, OH.
Visitation will be at Warren High School, 34090 N. Almond Road Campus on Thursday, April 15, 2004 from 3-9 PM.
Memorial service held at Great Lakes Naval Base off Buckley Road, Rte. 137, main Chapel "A" Friday, April 16, 2004 at 6 PM.

Joseph "Joe" P. Nowak
Joseph "Joe" P. Nowak, of Waukegan, Illinois, died April 12, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was born October 26, 1923 in Dubuque, Iowa.
He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps Third Division, American Legion, and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie; one son, Robert (Cathy) Nowak of Waukegan; one daughter, Paula Brown of Gurnee; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Jim) Wais of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; one brother, Richard (Judy) of Lake City, Florida.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 15 from 5 to 8 PM at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME of Waukegan, 1521 Washington St. Time of service will be 11 AM Friday with visitation from 10 to 11 Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

Anne M. Snaukstas
Anne M. Snaukstas (nee Navickus), 91, of Dousman, WI, formerly of Waukegan, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Masonic Health Care in Dousman, WI.
She was born July 23, 1912 in Waukegan, retired from Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and was a member of St. Bartholomew Church and the Senior Club of St. Barth's.
Anne is survived by a son, Bruno (Debra) Snaukstas of Summerville, South Carolina, and a son-in-law, Thomas Allen of Franklin, WI; and four grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno, 1987; and a daughter, Carol, in 2000.
Visitation will be 10-11 AM Wednesday, April 14 at Holy Family Church, 448 Keller Ave., Waukegan, with mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville.

Edith Viola Zieman
Edith Viola Zieman, 96, of Libertyville, IL passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. She was born March 15, 1908 in Manistique, Michigan and came to live in Lake Forest in 1930. She was a retired employee of Sunset Foods in Lake Forest and moved to live in the Liberty Towers in Libertyville in 1987. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest.
Surviving are two children, Janet (P. James) Persson of Grayslake and Glenn (Rita) Zieman of Racine, WI; nine grandchildren, Kathy Zieman, Ann (Mike) Richow, Cary Zieman, Patricia Zieman, Stephen (Karen) Zieman, Christopher Persson, Eric (Tammy) Persson, Clinton Persson, Miranda Persson; four great grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Krista and Connor; a sister, Ina Roe; and brother, George (June) Jackson, both living in Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Jackson; by her husband, Herman on July 28, 1953; by her sister, Ethel; and brothers, Leonard, Theodore, Gunnar, Valdemor and Edward.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lake Forest cemetery. Lovie Earnest
Lovie Earnest, 87, passed away April 8, 2005 at St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan, IL. Lovie was a longtime resident of the Waukegan area. He was born July 26, 1917 in Newton, MS to the union of Liddie and George Green Earnest. He served his country in the United States Army. Lovie enjoyed all sports especially fishing and this was what he did after retiring from the V.A. (Downey) Hospital. He was well liked and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Lovie leaves to cherish his memory a very special friend, Retaer Evans of Waukegan, IL, whom he loved dearly; two special people that kept in touch were Vivian Jacobs of Mississippi and Tomora Small of Antioch, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
A funeral service will be Thursday, April 14, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Bradshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL with Elder Raymond Smith, Associate Minister at All Nations Church of God Holiness in Christ, 604 10th Street, Waukegan, IL, officiating.
