Stanley Hunter
Stanley Dale Hunter, 60, of Assumption died at 5:21 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2003 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Assumption with military rites by Tascusah Post 6577 VFW of Assumption. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services in the Seitz Funeral Home in Assumption.
Born March 21, 1942 in Brownstown, he was the son of Carl W. and Mabel L. Wehrle Hunter. He was a member of VFW Post 6577 and served in the Army. He was also a member of the NRA. He married Mary Cohan in 1964 in Assumption, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Rodney Hunter, Allen Hunter and Brian Hunter, all of Pana; brothers, Michael of Lovington, Marty of Mesa, Ariz. and Darrell of Bloomington; sisters, Jenny Damery of Assumption and Cheri Hunter of Ohlman.
Five brothers preceded him in death.

Mrs. Ronald McMaster
Graveside services for Mrs. Ronald (Opal Marie “Bamba” Newlan) McMaster 74, of Hemet, Cal. were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington with the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington in charge of arrangements.
The former Lovington and Pana resident died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 in the Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, Cal.
Born Sept. 5, 1928 in Lovington, she was the daughter of Clyde Jacob and Mary Jane Dugan Newlan. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. She married Ronald Eugene McMaster Oct. 7, 1978 in Decatur, and he survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Pat Wade of Decatur; stepson, Troy Carlisle of Decatur; sister, Ruby Stage of Lovington; two grandchildren; one step grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
One brother preceded her in death.
Memorials in care of the family are suggested.

Ruth Moss
Mrs. Clifton (Ruth McIntyre) Moss, 95, of Sullivan died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in Eastview Terrace in Sullivan.
Arrangements are incomplete in the Mays Funeral Home in Pocahontas.
Born March 28, 1907 in Oconee, she was the daughter of Albert and Cena Gray McIntyre. She was a housewife and a member of the Protestant faith. She married Clifton Moss in 1924 in Pocahontas, and he died Dec. 24, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Everett of Sullivan; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and ten brothers preceded her in death.
Memorials to the donor’s choice are suggested.

‘Girlie’ Patton
Services for Mrs. Rufus (Esther E. “Girlie” Cole) Patton, 87, of Pana were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey. Burial was in the Ramsey Cemetery in Ramsey.
The former Nokomis resident died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 in the Heritage Manor in Pana.
Born April 14, 1915 in Fayette County, she was the daughter of Grover Cleveland “Cleve” and Cora Isabelle Porter Cole. She was a retired waitress and cafe owner in Hillsboro, and she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moweaqua. She married Rufus Robert Patton May 14, 1932, and he died Feb. 13, 1966.
Survivors include sons, Bill and Charles Patton, both of Sullivan, Dale Patton of Collinsville, Whitey Patton of Hillsboro, Donald Patton of Maryville, Jerry Patton of Decatur and Randy Patton of Nokomis; daughters, Shirley Condiff of Wild Rose, Wis., Beverly Hazdra of Nokomis and Sharon Pierce of Moweaqua; brother Wayne Cole of Ramsey; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, two sisters and two grandsons preceded her in death.
Memorials to the First Christian Church in Witt are suggested.

Roy Robinson
Memorial services for Roy Blaine Robinson, 65, of Effingham were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Meinhart-Neal Funeral Home in Effingham.
He died at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Born Oct. 9, 1937 in Lovington, he was the son of Faye A. Abbleby and Roy E. Robinson. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Arthur and retired from Yellow Freight Truck Lines in Chicago.
Survivors include sons, Monte of Greenup, Rick of Arthur and James of Colorado; daughters, Mrs. Scott (Jill) Beals of Effingham and Mrs. Brad (Rita) Cox of Charleston; sisters, Mrs. Larry (Judy) Shafer and Mrs. Albert (Carolyn) Sowers, both of Jewett; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth Sentel
Services for Elizabeth Calista Marie Sentel, 23, of Morrison, Col. were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Genesis Presbyterian Church in Morrison. Burial was in the Mount Linda Mausoleum in Morrison.
She died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 of meningococcal meningitis in a hospital in Morrison.
Born Feb. 7, 1980 in Denver, Col., she was the daughter of Mike and Donna Purvis Sentel. She was a student at Metro State University in Denver and was a member of the Genesis Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her parents of Morrison; brother, Corey of Morrison; and grandparents, Bill and Maxine Sentel of Neoga and Dave and Estelle Purvis of Sullivan.

Donald Spencer
Donald F. Spencer, 64, of Stafford, Va. died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 in his home.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. with full military honors.
He was the son of Johnny Spencer of Findlay and Pansy M. White of Sullivan, both of whom are deceased. He retired from the Army and then worked as a computer programmer for several years.
Survivors include two daughters, one son and two granddaughters, all of the Stafford, Va. area; brother, John Spencer of Sullivan; sister, Nellie Stevens of Decatur; stepsister, Pam Howell of Findlay; and half brothers, Carl Spencer of Oakley and Rick Spencer of Katy, Texas.

Ferne Allen
Graveside services for Mrs. Johnie (Ferne Lane) Allen, 92, of Sullivan were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003 in the French Cemetery in Allenville.
She died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2003 in her residence.
Ferne was born in Moultrie County, the daughter of Claude and Georgia Hunter Lane. She married Johnie G. Allen Sept. 29, 1929 in Windsor. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1985.
Survivors include her son, Carl L. Allen and wife Betty of Sullivan; daughter, Ruth Allen of Sullivan; sisters, Mabel Kirkwood and Nettie Batman, both of Sullivan; grandchildren, Connie and husband Bob Eskew of Bethany, Sheryl Miller of Buffalo, Linda Swango of Sullivan, Carl Allen Jr. of Champaign and Ron Allen of Sullivan; 12 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Memorials to the Moultrie County Senior Citizens Center are suggested.

Esther Rawlings
Mrs. Tracy (Esther A. Hoke) Rawlings, 95, of Clinton died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003 in Dr. John Warner Hospital in Clinton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton with visitation one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Clinton.
Born Dec. 24, 1907 in Sullivan, she was the daughter of Frank and Alma Baker Hoke. She was affiliated with the First Christian Church and was a retired school teacher having been the last teacher at the Union School which is now located at Weldon Springs State Park. She was a retired therapist at Mt. Vernon T.S. Hospital and a member of Young at Heart and Home Extension Service. She was a former buyer for Myers Bros. in Lincoln. She married Tracy Rawlings Nov. 7, 1933 in Bethany, and he died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Thompson of Clinton; sister, Ruth McElwee of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter.
One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
Memorials to the Artist Alley Scholarship Fund are suggested.
