Mrs. Sam Fowler
Mrs. Sam (Loveda J. Manis) Fowler, 77, of rural Neoga died at 7:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 in the Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga. Burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery in rural Neoga.
Born June 21, 1925 in Ewing, she was the daughter of S.L. and Cecil Cochran Manis. She was a housewife and homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church in Ewing. She married W. Sam Fowler Feb. 22, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and he survives.
Other survivors include sons, William D. Fowler of rural Lovington, Charles L. Fowler of rural Toledo and Jimmy F. Fowler of rural Neoga; daughters, Carolyn J. Simpson of rural Marshall and Judy M. Corduan of rural Neoga; brother, Raymond D. Manis of Ewing; sister, Patricia D. Manis of Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One sister preceded her in death.
Memorials to the Heartland Christian Village are suggested.

Venton Graham
Venton Graham, 62, of Sullivan died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 in the Eastview Terrace Nursing Home in Sullivan.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan with the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan in charge of arrangements.

June McDaniel
Services for Mrs. Robert (June Elizabeth Bland) McDaniel, 76, of Mahomet were held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Graveside services following cremation for the immediate family was in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.
The former Hoffman Estates, Decatur, Sullivan and Shelbyville resident died at 3:18 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 in St. Alexius Hospital Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
Born Jan. 24, 1926 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Clayton D. and Myrtle A. Kelly Bland. She was a member of the Kuilka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Shelbyville. She married Robert Hunt McDaniel June 21, 1947, and he died April 3, 1983.
Survivors include a son, Mark O. McDaniel of Mahomet; daughter, Mrs. John (Andrea) Whitacre of Hoffman Estates; sister, Mrs. Rollin (Audrey) Ragan of Windsor; and one granddaughter.
Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested.

Hugh O’Neill
Services for Hugh G. O’Neill, 78, of Sullivan were held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan with military rites conducted by Sullivan American Legion Post #68.
He died at 12:21 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 in the Sullivan Health Care Center.
Born Nov. 6, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of Hugh Frances and Margaret Lynch O’Neill. He had been a laboratory technician for A.E. Staley in Decatur, a member of St. Columcille Catholic Church in Sullivan, Sullivan American Legion Post #68, Sullivan VFW and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Marjory Clevenger Jan. 29, 1952, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, John O’Neill of Sullivan; daughters, Sally Asche of Dallas, Texas and Sharon Mumma of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
One daughter preceded him in death.
Memorials to the Sullivan Ambulance Service are suggested.

Thelma Pifer
Services for Mrs. Chalmer (Thelma Craig) Pifer, 92, of Sullivan were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
She died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 in Heritage Manor in Bloomington.
Born July 4, 1910 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Arlie and Maud Houser Craig. She was a member of the Church of God in Bloomington. She married Chalmer R. Pifer Feb. 21, 1929 in Allenville, and he died June 1, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Gary Pifer of Bloomington; brothers, Carl Craig, Arlie "Junior" Craig and Paul "Short" Craig, all of Sullivan; sister, Betty Combs of Arthur; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One son, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Memorials to the donor’s choice are suggested.

‘Whitey’ Stuart
Floyd William "Whitey" Stuart, 67, of Mattoon died at 1:43 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Tuscola Cemetery with the Edwards Funeral Home in Tuscola in charge of arrangements.
Born May 27, 1935 in West Ridge, he was a son of John Benjamin Harrison and Flora West Moore Stuart. He was plant manager at the Schrock Cabinet Co. in Arthur for several years, ran a body shop in Arcola and most recently he operated Stuart’s Painting and Decorating in Mattoon, retiring in 2000.
Survivors include a brother, Wayne Stuart of Arthur; and sisters, Thelma Smith of Sullivan, Reta Laughlin of Illiopolis and Norma Mallory of Sun City, Fla.
Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Memorials to the American Heart Assn. or to the donor’s choice are suggested.

Freda Stroud
Services for Freda M. Stroud, 88, of Lovington were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington. Burial was in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington.
She died at 4:35 a.m. Aug. 14, 2002 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Born Jan. 27, 1914 in Olney, she was the daughter of Charles and Dora Orr Stroud. She worked for the International Shoe Co. in Olney.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Memorials to the donor’s choice are suggested.

‘Yogi’ Yokley
George Wayne "Yogi" Yokley, 73, of Sullivan died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002 in the Sullivan Health Care Center.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Southern Baptist Church in Sullivan with visitation from 6 to 8 tonight (Wednesday) in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial will be in the French Cemetery in Allenville.
Born Nov. 3, 1929 in Fountain Run, Ky., he was the son of Foster Neal and Stella May Johnson Yokley. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Sullivan. He married Marie Isenburg Sept. 8, 1950 in Fountain Run, Ky., and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Max Yokley of Brownstown, Charles Yokley of Dalton City, David Yokley of Deland and Jerry Yokley of Sullivan; sisters, Titia Hale of Fountain Run, Ky. and Geneva Holland of Lafayette, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, two sister and four brothers preceded him in death.
Memorials to the Southern Baptist Church are suggested.

Parker Wiley
Parker H. Wiley, 87, of Mattoon died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003 in the Mattoon Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home in Mattoon with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Branchside Cemetery in Gays.
Born April 30, 1915 in Raymond, he was the son of Warren Lewis and Charlotte Louise Hilt Wiley. He was a retired traffic manager for McBride’s Express and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mattoon Rotary Club, RSVP, Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, American Legion and the Society of Mayflower Descendants. He spent three years in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a graduate of the College of Advanced Traffic and was registered to practice before the Illinois Commerce Commission. He married Helen Harris in 1949, and she died in 1967. He then married Florence May Edwards in 1973, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Edward M. Wiley of LaGrange and John F. Wiley of Berwyn; daughter, Marie Hunt of Elgin; brother, Joe M. Wiley of Sullivan; sister, June Shaw of Seattle, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Memorials to the donor’s choice are suggested.
