Margarete Weiss
Age 77, passed away Monday, July 14, 2003 at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, IL.
She is survived by her three daughters, Monica (late Robert) Sestak, Helga (Robert) Coates and Maria E. (Alan) Filar. Two brothers and a sister residing in Europe. Ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She retired from Rose Meat packing after 25 years. Living in the New Lenox Area for 76 years, coming from Chicago. She was a member of the Purple Martin Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jahann and Theresia (Hofer) Gaber and her husband Josef Weiss in 1993.
Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, Cedar at Francis Roads in New Lenox, Thursday, July 17, 2003 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Friday, July 18, 2003, prayer services at 10:00 a.m. to St. Judes Church for Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow St. John's Cemetery in Mokena.

Mary Williams (nee Negoski)
Age 59 years, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2003 at her home with her loving family by her side. Mary was employed by Christian Brothers Services for 16 years. A member of the Coyote Moon Dancers and she was very active in the Relay for Life Walk.
Preceded in death by her father, Leo A. Negoski and a sister Joan Bertolotti.
Survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Robert B. Williams; two sons, David and Donald (Maura) Williams; a daughter, Bobbie (Doug) Kristofer; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Brockton and Ashley Marie; her mother Marie Negoski; four brothers, Leo P., Jerry, John (Linda) and Jim (Barb) Negoski; three sisters, Val Land, Carol (Nolan) Borokowski and Anna Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and many dear friends also survive.
The family of Mary Williams would like to offer their special thanks to the Christian Brothers staff, Pink Ladies and the Coyote Moon Dancers for their loving support.
Funeral services will be held from the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. to St. Jude's Catholic Church, Marycrest for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation Thursday, July 17, 2003 form 2 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's name to the American Cancer Society or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

Virgil "Bud" F. Barten
Of Manhattan, age 81, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Sunny Hill Rehab Center, Joliet.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Angela Walsh Barten; two step daughters, Phyllis (Frank) Bentley of Lockport and Marie (Jim) Uthe of Michigan; two grandsons; five granddaughters; and 11 great grandchildren; four sisters, Lillian (Le Roy, deceased) Seggebruch, Loretta (Raymond) Seggebruch and Marie (Wilbur) Brookman all of Manhattan and Shirley Kubel of Gardner. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sophie Heisner Barten; four brothers, Lester, Harold, Vernon and Orville; and three sisters, Florence and Ruth Barten, and Velma Ebert.
Bud was a member of the Will County Farm Bureau, St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the church dart ball team. He was also a Past President of the Manhattan Center Cemetery.
Virgil F. Barten will lie in state at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 140 Thelma Street, Manhattan on Friday, July 16, 2004 from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10 AM with Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment, Manhattan Center Cemetery. Memorials to the Manhattan Paramedics or St. Paul's United Church of Christ would be most appreciated. Visitation Thursday, 3 to 8 PM at the Forsythe Funeral Home, Manhattan.

Raymond A. Darnell
Age 77 passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Hospice House in Joliet. A retired Foreman from G.M. Electromotive in LaGrange. Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his loving children, Donna (Scott) Dwyer and Judy (Ken) Markiewicz. Devoted grandfather of Kyle McNeil, Ryan Frank, Jamie Markiewicz, Kelsey Frank, Danielle Dwyer, and Connor Markiewicz.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Mildred Jones, also his parents.
Visitation Friday, 3-8 PM at the Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Dr. in Romeoville. Service that evening at 7 PM, with Pastor, Bob Pack, Celebrant. Services conclude at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 preferred.

Leroy K. Henry
Age 56, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in his home in Florence, AL, formerly of Joliet.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria M. (Hiller) Henry; two step-sons, Edward Mass, Verne (Michele) Mass; two step-daughters, Sue (Taylor) Groff, Gay (Jose) Serna; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Wilbert (Annamae) Henry, Hilbert (Jane) Henry, Charles (Virginia) Henry; a sister-in-law, Joanne Henry and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Joliet and lived in the area most of his life, moving to AL one year ago. He was a member of Shorewood Church of God where he also taught Sunday school and was a member of Teamsters Local #179 and worked for Globe Lumber and INR Beatty Lumber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Pearl (Schultz) Henry and a brother, Robert Henry.
Family will receive friends at the Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St. Friday 4-8 p.m. Services 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 in the funeral home chapel, Pastor Eric Livingston officiating. Interment will be at Claredon Hills Cemetery, Darien. Memorials to Southern Care Hospice, 600-A Woodward Ave., Muscle Schoals, AL 35661 would be appreciated.

Erma Ilene Hopkins (nee Beaver)
Of Joliet, passed away at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home, Wednesday, July 14, 2004. Age 87 years.
Survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Francis) Jones and her son, William (Susan) Hopkins. Three grandchildren, John Brimble, Katherine Hopkins and Megan Hopkins. A niece, Denise (Brian) West.
Preceded in death by her husband, John Martin Hopkins in 1974. Her parents, Elmer and Grace (nee Tatro) Beaver.
Emma was a member of Central Presbyterian Church of New Lenox and former member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Joliet. Graduate of Ridgewood School, A.O. Marshall Elementary School, Joliet Township High School, Class of 1933 and the Metropolitan Business College.
In addition to being a "Million Dollar" Real Estate Broker for Bell Realty, Erma was an active member of the Eastern Star, Bethany Shrine, Lioness Club, Women's Club of Joliet, King's Daughters, Will County Historical Society and the National Republican Women's Organization. Erma loved to travel and meet new people at every opportunity. She leaves behind many dear friends. A special thanks to the caring staff at Provena Villa Franciscan.
Lying in state at Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 Gouger Road, New Lenox, Saturday, July 17th, from 9:30 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Marion A. Kaniok (nee Parker)
Age 82. Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Embassy Care Center in Wilmington. born on April 16, 1922 in St. Marys, GA to the late Lester and Verdie Parker.
Devoted mother of Lester (Loretta) Kaniok, Sandi (Randall) Rogots and Scott (Pamela) Kaniok; proud grandmother of Michael (Mellysa) Kaniok, Stacy Kaniok, Sean (Janine) Kaye, Justin Kaye, Megan and Katie Kaniok; great-grandmother of Jacob and Logan Kaye; dear sister of Lucille (Edward) Chancey, Thelma (the late Edward) Knox and Bertha Svendson. Also leaving to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mrs. Kaniok in death are her parents; her beloved husband, Edward L. Kaniok (2003) and three brothers, Leonard, Wilber and Otis Parker.
Mrs. Kaniok served in the U.S. Army and was decorated with a World War II Victory Medal. Her career outside the home was a high school teacher of home economics until she was able to share those talents with her own children and grandchildren. She found great joy in expressing herself through arts and crafts, her special talents were in cooking, decorating wedding cakes and painting. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Marion A. Kaniok will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 9:45 a.m. at The Maple Funeral Home to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minooka for Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Harold R. Potter "Ray"
Age 59. Suddenly Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at his late residence as the result of an apparent heart attack in his sleep. born in Lancing, TN and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Central High School. Retired from Union Oil Company after many years of service.
Preceded in death by his mother, Cloie Potter; his twin brother, Roy Potter; and his brother, Lee Potter.
Survived by his father, Charles E. Potter of Crossville, TN; one sister, Charline (Vernon) Bonham of Clarkrange, TN; one brother, Coy (Glenna) Potter of Joliet; his niece, Erika (Brent) Kehlet, Jr.; two nephews, Shane Bonham and Chuck (Tina) Potter, both of Joliet; one great-niece, Cloie Kehlet; many friends also survive including a special friend, Ryan Smid.

Age 75, passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 at Salem Village.
Survived by one brother, Frederick Whitney.
Born in Joliet on March 29, 1929 and a lifelong resident. Retired from Kerr Glass.
Private funeral services were held, cremation followed.
