JoAnn Heyser
JoAnn Heyser, formerly of Northbrook, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at her residence in Marco Island, Fla.
Mrs. Heyser, a dental hygienist, was a graduate of Northwestern University, and a member of the Northwestern Dental Hygenist Alumni group. She was active in the Arden Shore Association.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bill; her son, Bill (Rosanne) of New Port Richey, Fla.; her daughters, Jennifer H. (Bruce) Funk of Palatine and Stacey G. (David) Askelson of Deerfield; granddaughters, Amy L. Funk of Palatine, Ashley R. Heyser and Lindsay J. Heyser, both of New Port Richey; her grandson, Andrew D. Funk of Palatine; her sisters, Marcia Taylor of Molene, Ill. and Marilyn Wade of Houston, Texas; and her brother, Rod Franklin of Helendale, Calif.
Services and interment were held Saturday, April 7, in Marco Island, Fla.

Robert Bruce Cutler
Robert Bruce Cutler, 70, died in Santa Cruz, Calif. on March 25, 2001.
A native of Evanston, Mr. Cutler’s book of poetry “The Massacre at Sand Creek” was nominated for a National Book Award. He was a graduate of the Iowa Writer’s Program and was an English professor at Wichita State University. He founded the schools’ Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program.
Mr. Cutler received six Fulbright scholarships.
Survivors include his wife, Emily; his sons, David of Washington, D.C. and John (Judy) of Minneapolis; his daughter, Ann (Gary) Docken of St. Paul; his brother, Richard of Chicago; his seven grandchildren; and his six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tina in 1993.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., June 23, 2001 at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S, Minneapolis.

Adelaide A. Lescher
Adelaide A. Waldron Lescher, 65, of Lake Bluff, formerly of River Forest, died March 21, 2001 in Northwestern Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Lescher was the mother of Ruth (John) Muscarello, Mary (Robert Bartolone) Lescher, Nancy (Lawrence) Lescher Drabot, Joseph C. Lescher, Therese (Kevin) Lescher Maloney and Elizabeth Lescher; grandmother of Julia and Johnny Muscarello, Claire and Carolyn Bartolone, Annie, Joey and Katie Drabot and Brian and Erin Maloney; daughter of Adelaide D. Charles; sister of Alice Valentine, Ruth Ahern, Therese Waldron, Peter Waldron and Gerald (Gale) Waldron.
Visitation was held March 23 in Wenban Funeral Home, Lake Forest.
A Mass was celebrated March 24 in the Church of St. Mary, Lake Forest.
Memorials were suggested for the Y-ME Foundation, 203 N. Wabash, Suite 1220, Chicago, IL 60601.

Suzanne Hollis Sigler
Suzanne Hollis Sigler, 53, of Prairie View died March 29, 2001.
Mrs. Sigler was born March 2, 1948 in Gary, Ind. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Moore College of Art. Three years later, she received a master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and began to take her place in Chicago’s art scene. Familiar with Chicago’s Hairy Who Group with its emphasis on cartoons and other art imagery, as well as the whimsical art of Florine Slettheimer, Sigler found sympathetic and quirky precedents for her own idiosyncratic approach.
In 1993 Sigler exhibited a body of work entitled “Breast Cancer Journal: Walking with the Ghosts of My Grandmother” at the Rockford College Art College in Rockford, Ill., which then traveled to the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
Sigler studied in Philadelphia and in Florence before receiving her master’s in 1973, and gained early success with a series of highly realistic paintings of swimmers in the mid 70’s.
Survivors include her father, Philip Sigler; her brother, Andrew Sigler; and friends, Patricia Locke and Joe Howard. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., April 21 at Getz Theater, Columbia College Chicago, 72 E. 11th, Chicago. Interment was private. Harold F. Rudolph
Harold F. Rudolph, 95, of Deerfield, formerly of Highland Park, died April 7, 2006.
He was born June 15, 1910 in Highland Park.
Mr. Rudolph was a longtime head custodian at Lincoln School in Highland Park for over 30 years.
Mr. Rudolph's family was one of the earliest families to settle in Highland Park before the Civil War.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy; father of the late Ronald and father-in-law to Carol Rudolph; grandfather of two; great-grandfather of three; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m., April 15 at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, with funeral services beginning at 1:15 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, 161 N. Clark St., Ste. 1700, Chicago, IL 60601.

Anna F. Cortesi
Anna F. Cortesi, 95, of Highland Park, died April 4, 2006.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1911.
She was the wife of Otto; mother of Karen (Terry) Lippert, Richard (Claire), Cheri (Gary) Robinson and Laurie (Fred) Gesten; grandmother of four; and sister of Margaret Gianelli.
Funeral services were held April 10 from Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, Highland Park. Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Highland Park. Interment was private.

Brian Keith Bock
Brian Keith Bock of Rancho Cucamonga, California died Jan. 17, 2006 in his home.
He was born in San Antonio Texas on Oct. 25, 1958. He was the first of five children.
He attended grammar school in California and then moved to Highland Park where he attended Highland Park High School. He played football and was a member of the swimming team.
After three years he returned to California where he graduated from Alta Loma High School. He then attended Chaffey College where he played football for two years.
Mr. Bock relocated to Highland Park and later to Wildwood where he was a self employed painter and decorator for 15 years.
Surviving are his daughter Devin Marie; mother, Gwen Lockard (Veme), of Upland, Calif.; father, Arthur "Buddy" Bock (Joyce) of Williamsburg, Va.; sisters, Londa Bock Helms, Linell Potter; brothers, Randy Bock and Kevin Bock; and ten nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Brian Alexander on April 20, 2002.
His greatest love was his family.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 26 at the Stone Funeral Home in Upland ,Calif. Interment was in Bellevue Cemetery in Ontario, Calif.

Norman C. Helke
Norman Charles Helke, 74, formerly of Vernon Township, died Feb. 1, 2006 in Omaha, Neb. He was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Highland Park and had been a resident of Riverwoods for the past 40 years.
Mr. Helke was the founder and owner of Helke Landscaping Co. for over 40 years.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a charter member of American Legion Post 1247.
Mr. Helke served as a Boy Scout leader in Vernon Township and was a member of the Deerfield Fire Department for five years.
He is survived by his wife Gloria (nee Giles); his daughters Lori (Patrick) Michalak of Wauconda and Pattie (Paul) Vovk of Omaha, Neb,; five grandchildren; and his sisters Margaret of Land of Lakes, Wis., and Carole of Buffalo Grove.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville. Interment services were held Feb. 6 in Memorial Park, Skokie.
If desired, memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International, Suite 125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.

Maria Picchietti
Maria Picchietti, 80, of Deerfield, died April 8, 2006 in Highland Park Hospital.
She was born Feb. 18, 1926 in S'Anna Pelago Modena, Italy.
Mrs. Picchietti was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Women's Club.
She was the wife of the late Eugenio; mother of Rudy (Susan) of Deerfield and John of Highland Park; grandmother to three grandchildren Angela, Christopher and Eric; sister of Rosina and Sante of Italy.
Funeral services were held April 11 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Highland Park. Interment followed in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
Donations may be made to Hoover Skilled Care Nursing at Highland Park Hospital. Checks made payable to the ENH Foundation, 1033 University Place, Evanston, IL 60201
Arrangements were made by Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, Highland Park.

Carl Whitaker
Carl Whitaker, 65, of Deerfield, formerly of Des Plaines, died Feb. 25, 2006, in Whitehall Nursing Home, Deerfield.
He was born Oct. 23, 1940 in London, Ky.
Survivors include his wife Mary; son, Michael Whitaker of Lake Forest; four grandchildren; four sisters, Faye Harrison of Ohio, Wanda Hurst of London, Ky., Imogean Hurst of Corbin, Ky., and Elsie Clontz of London, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ida McQueen, Freda May Hill, Melvin Whitaker, Millard Whitaker and Ethel Arthur and his parents, Lee and Lizzie Pearl Whitaker.
Funeral services were held in London, Ky., with interment in Pine Creek Cemetery, London, Ky.
Funeral arrangements were made by Kelley and Spalding Funeral Home, Highland Park.

John Witthoft
John Albert Witthoft, 50 of Lincolnshire, formerly of Edison Park, died March 3, 2006 in Condell Medical Center, Libertyville.
Mr. Witthoft was a resident of the Riverside Foundation, where he worked as an assembler in a sheltered workshop. He was the recipient of many gold medals from the Leaning Tower YMCA Special Olympics swim meets, a member of the SPRED group of St. Juliana in Chicago and participated in many Shabbona Park Sharks activities.
He is survived by his parents, Albert II and Shirley Witthoft of Edison Park; siblings, Janet (Mike) Danielsen of Lake Zurich and Donald (Linda) Witthoft of Hoffman Estates; aunts, Lorraine McGee and Joan Schreiner; and nieces and nephews, Michael, Jenny, Patricia, Christina, Tim, David and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert III.
Visitation was in M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, Edison Park. Funeral Mass was celebrated March 6 by the Rev. Robert Grib, SJ in St. Juliana Catholic Church, Chicago. Burial was private.
Memorials may be forwarded to the Riverside Foundation, 14588 W. Highway 22, Lincolnshire IL 60069.
