Suddenly Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at her residence.
Survived by one son, Dennis (Carol) Beallis; one daughter, Donna Bobbe; grandchildren, John (Dona) Bobbe, James (Kim) Bobbe, Janet (Ray) Fenili, Jeff (Kelly) Bobbe, Lori (Monte) Buell and Lynn (John) Czajkowski. Ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One brother, Duane (Lois) Nickel.
Preceded in death by her husband, George Beallis; parents, Lewis and Loretta (Blaine) Nickel.
Born in Reading, MN, a Joliet resident most of her life. Retired from Deaton-Kennedy. Member of the First Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 22, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral home with Rev. Gavin Brandt officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday 3-8 p.m.

Josephine M. Berard (Nee Perush)
Age 93. At rest Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Silver Cross Hospital.
Loving mother of Gerald (Deanna) Berard, Joan (John) Lesnik and James (Jean) Berard; dearest grandmother of seven grandchildren, Laurie (Robert) Reattoir, Allison Berard, Jeffrey (Denise), John R. (Susan), Joseph (Rebecca) and James (Kathrine) Lesnik and Julie Lesnik; four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Ethan Reattoir, Luke and Max Lesnik; two sisters, Edith (late Osborne) Rosenquist and Pauline (late Joseph) Mauser. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by husband, Robert C. Berard (1989); parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Sgerm) Perush; one sister, Bertha Gerl and one brother, William Perush.
Josephine was born in Joliet and was a life long resident of the Joliet area. Member of Slovenian Womens Union, St. Joseph Senior Parishioners, Rosarians, and Lockport Womens Club.

Thomas Ewenson
Age 75, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. born in Gillespie, IL September 5, 1926 to the late Andrew and Margaret Brown-Ewenson.
Member of the Wilmington Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. as well as the Moose Lodge. Retired machinist from Personal Products Co. and the Joliet Ammunition Plant.
Survived by his four loving children: Anita (John) Arthur of Pittsburgh, PA and formerly of Coal City, IL, Thomas (Brenda) Ewenson of Mansfield, IL, Kenneth (Mary) Ewenson of Wilmington, IL and Kathryn Boswell of Braidwood, IL; nine grandchildren: Rick and David Oster, Kerri, Arhtur, Michelle, Andrea, Kevin and Craig Ewenson and Brianna Wiggins; one sister, Marge (the late Earl) Larson of Springfield, IL.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, 2002 from 3:00PM until time of Masonic Funeral Service at 7:00PM at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington.
A Private interment will then be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
Memorials to the American Heart Association or the Wilmington Masonic Lodge appreciated.

Ruth H. Gargrave
Ruth H. Gargrave, age 94, a lifelong resident of Plattville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the Willowcrest Nursing Pavillion in Sandwich, IL. She was born on March 9, 1908, in Plattville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Ellen (Vickery) Heap.
Ruth was united in marriage on September 14, 1936 in Kendall County, IL to Mr. Dale Gargrave, and they spent 64 happy years together until his passing on May 26, 1991. Mrs. Gargrave was a loving homemaker who was also the head of the family farming operation. Her God and her family were the two most important parts of there life. Ruth was a lifetime member of there Pattville United Methodist Church, in Plattville, IL, where she was the treasurer of its Memorial Fund. She was also a member of its Bethany Circle, its Stage Coach Club, and the United Methodist Woman's Society.
Ruth enjoyed sewing quilts, crocheting afghans, and was a master of the lost art of tatting. She took great pleasure in giving these lovely handmade items away as gifts to her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Cecil "Zeke") Towne, of Oswego, IL, and Wayne (Janice) Gargrave, of Friendswood, TX; her grandchildren, Stephan (Dee Sheffer) Stockham, of Sandwich, IL, Christopher Stockham, of Yorkville, IL, Eric (Ann-Renee) Gargrave, of Greensboro, NC, Chad and Dale Gargrave, both of Friendswood, TX; her great-grandson, Daniel Stockham, of Sandwich, IL; her brother, Leslie Heap, of Minooka, IL; as well as many, many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ellen Heap; her husband, Dale Gargrave; one son in infancy; her grandson, James Earl Stockham, and three brothers, Harold, Clifford and Clinton Heap.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2002, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countyside Parkway, in Yorkville, IL, with Reverend Jorge Nolla and Reverend Noah Panlilio officiating. Interment will follow in the Plattville Cemetery, Plattville, IL.
Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville.
Memorials in Ruth's memory may be directed to the Pattville United Methodist Church, Plattville, IL.

William E. Hubbard "Bill"
Age 84 years. Passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. born in Ellendale, TN. He moved to Joiet in 1954. He was employed at the Joliet Arsenal until he relocated to Moline and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal until he retired in 1983 and moved back to Joliet in 1986. A US Army Veteran of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Magdalene (nee Bills); two sons, Jarrett (Karalene) Hubbard of Monee, IL and Jeffrey Hubbard of Chicago, IL; one daughter, Jaqueline (Cornelius) Green of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren.
Funeral services Sunday July 21, 7:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Rev. Ronald Johnson officiating. Visitation Sunday form 2-4 PM at Range Funeral Home and 6-7 PM at the church. Interment and military honors Monday 10:30 AM to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Rolley V. Sinks "Tooter"
Age 80, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Silver Cross Hospital. Late, of New Lenox.
Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wilma J. (Kisner) Sinks; two sons, Michael (Ruth) Sinks and David Sinks; one daughter, Carole (Frank) Jadron. Also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Forest Roy Sinks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Born in Mendota, IL, living in New Lenox since 1956. Retired from General Motors in 1986, after 27 years of service. Served in World War II and played softball in his younger years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Roly and Ruby (Stokes) Sinks; his daughter, Theresa Sinks; his granddaughter, Laura Campbell; his brother, Leroy Sinks; and his sister, Nora Ann Fowler.
Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, Cedar at Francis Rd. on Sunday from 3:00PM until 8:00PM. Services will be on Monday, July 22, 2002, 11:00AM at the chapel with Rev. Jason Breda, officiating. Interment will be Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Frankfort.

Adolph E. Waznis "Al"
Age 81, at rest Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at his home with his family by his side.
Survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Marjorie M. (nee Murry) Waznis. Loving father of Rosalie (Dean) Dennis of Wilmington, Tom (Betty) of San Diego, CA, Bill (Cindy) of Rockdale and Alan (Phyllis) Waznis of Phoenix, AZ. Dearest grandfather of Brian (Kristen), Melissa (Jeremy), Mandy, Anne, Michael, Karen and Mark; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Tony (late Theresa) DeLach. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by parents Vincent and Appalonia (nee Darguzis) Waznis. One sister Theresa DeLach; one brother, Stanley Waznis.
Adolph was born in Rockdale where he resided most of his lifetime, recently of Wilmington, IL. Retired from Rock Island Arsenal. Veteran World War II U.S. Army, received four overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, Philippine Liberation with one Bronze Star Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal and was wounded in action at Luzon. Also was very active in sports, especially baseball where he tried our for the St. Louis Cardinals.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Parkinsons Research or Wilmington Lions Club (Diabetic Awareness).

Madeliene Schroeder Bittermann
Age 84, of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at St. Mary's Residence Hospice Hospital in Knoxville, TN following an extended illness.
Madeliene S. Bittermann was born December 27, 1916 in Joliet, IL and lived there until moving to Newport, TN in 1957 when Mr. Bittermann was transferred with Chemitron. While living in Joliet Mrs. Bittermann was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Madeliene S. Bittermann was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Morristown, TN and later a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in East Ridge, TN.
After working many years for K-Mart, both in Joliet, IL and Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, she retired with 22 years of service.
Madeliene S. Bittermann was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Bittermann; son, Francis Joseph Bittermann; parents, George and Mary Ellen Schroeder; sister, Angela Jensen; brothers, Charles and Raymond Schroeder all of Joliet, IL and Leo Schroeder of Chicago, IL.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Claire B. Eslinger and her husband James D. Eslinger of Dandridge, TN, Janice B. Walker and her husband Lynn Walker of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Chris and Tressa Walker, Erinlea and Monica Eslinger; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Alice Walker, Sally and Christan Keener, and her sister, Anamarie Schoppe of Joliet, IL.
Family and friends will meet Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet, IL for an 11:00am Graveside service with Father Gregory Rothfuchs conducting the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
