James R. Siebert
1933 - 2001
Longtime Montgomery, IL. resident, James R. Siebert, 67, died Thursday in Rush-Copley Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Siebert was born March 7, 1933 in Pittsburg, IL., the son of the late Marion Siebert and Edna Benefiel Siebert. He had worked for Western Electric for more than 36 years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Siebert was a member of Montgomery VFW Post 7452, Yorkville American Legion Post 489 and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his children, Craig Siebert of Montgomery, Keyna Siebert of Arizona, Jeanne (Rodney) Gibson of Oswego and James (Danielle) Siebert of Bloomington; one step daughter, Michelle (Brad) Ozimek of Arizona; one brother, Gary Siebert of Mulberry Grove; five sisters, Betty (Julian) Thoman of Tuscola, Wanda (Orville) Mahon of Salem, Mary Cole of Vandalia, Connie (Bob) Bingham of Florida and Carolyn Thompson of Vandalia; six grandchildren, Kayle, Cody and Miranda Siebert, Amber and Emily Ozimek and Christina Gibson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Siebert was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Siebert and one sister, Marjorie Bailey.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2001 at 2:00 PM at the Veterans of Foreign War Memorial Post 7452, 121 N. River Road in Montgomery.
There will be no other services, the body has been cremated. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to any charity in Mr. Siebert's name.
Arrangements were handled by Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.

Samuel Carl Barbier
Samuel Carl Barbier, 78 years of Yorkville, IL died Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was born June 14, 1922 in Downers Grove, IL the son of the late Carl and Tina Barbier. He served with the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. Over the years he was a participant in the World War II Veterans visits to the area schools to tell about the armed forces and especially World War II. He was a member of the Wood Carver Museum of New Holland, IL, Tin Can Saliors and the wooden carvers group and a teacher to the groups at FVOAS and the Beecher Senior Center of Yorkville, IL. He enjoyed his times of going to Bill's Restaurant in Montgomery, IL to visit and talk with the other World War II veterans.
He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Barbier of Yorkville, IL a son William Morton (Sandy) Barbier of Ottawa, IL; two grandchildren, Marci Helene Barbier of Sandwich, IL, Lane Barbier of Ottawa, IL; two sisters, Ellie Fuller of Michigan City, IN, Jeanette Martinkus of Downers Grove, IL; a brother Jake (Lori) Barbier of Belport, NY; a nephew Carl Schmidt of Chicago, IL and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris Barbier and a sister Veronica Kline.
A time for gathering of friends will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2001 at the McKEOWN-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD. in Oswego, IL from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. when a time of sharing/reflection will be held.
Memorials may be directed to the Tin Can Saliors Associations. Cremation was accorded to the wishes of the family with burial in the Pontiac, Il City Cemetery.

Marion M. (Gengler) Braun
Marion M. (Gengler) Braun, 89, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital. She was born on December 10, 1911 in Aurora.

Gordon W. Greif
1959-2001
Gordon W. Greif, age 41, of Aurora, passed away Friday, January 12, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter; his three brothers, Martin (Lynette), Daniel and Gary (Rhonda) Greif; three sisters, Bonnie Johnson, Connie (late Kenneth) Hill and Veronica Komes. Mr. Greif also had many other loving relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elanor Greif, and sister, Leanor Greif.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY, 220 North Lake Street, Aurora, Fr. Aurel Pater will officiate. John R. Hall
John R. Hall, Sr., 72 years of Polo, IL, formerly of Aurora, IL and New Albany, MS died Friday, January 12, 2001 at CGH Hospital in Sterling, IL. He was born October 21, 1928 in New Albany, MS the son of the late Mack and Flossiebelle (nee Whitehead) Hall. Prior to his retirement in 1985 he was employed as a shipping/receiving clerk at Barber-Greene Mfg. Co. in Aurora, IL. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Polo, IL and the Barber-Greene Hunting and Fishing Club in Oswego, IL.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan (Roy) Meyer of Byron, IL; four sons, John (Cindy) Hall, Jr., of Yorkville, IL, Randy (Joann) Hall of Aurora, IL, Timothy (Linda) Hall of Montgomery, IL, Danny (Linda) Hall of Plainfield, IL; 12 grandchildren, Bobby and Douglas Meyer, Toby, Cory, Joshua, Joseph, Jacob, Tim, Tiffany, Tanya, Tabitha, Katie Hall; two great grandchildren, Michael and Maxwell Hall; four sisters, Betty (Jack) Edwards of New Albany, MS, Sue (Gernie) Backman of Aurora, IL, Mona Mattingly of Aurora, IL, Dorothy (Dan) Thomas of Warden, WA; three brothers, Dick (Edith) Hall of Memphis, TN, James (Sara) Hall of Aurora, IL, Lavell (Pat) Hall of Olympia, WA and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dortha Elois Hall and several sisters and brothers.

Raymond C. Kozloski
Raymond C. Kozloski, 73, of Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at Rush-Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora. He was born August 19, 1927 in Montgomery, IL.
Mr. Kozloski was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. He served as Mayor of Montgomery from 1985-1993, was a member of the Village Board and Planning Commission from 1972-1985. He currently served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Oswego Public Library District as Treasurer. Ray was also a Boy and Cub Scout Leader for 12 years and held a PTA Life Membership at Nicholson School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Amelia "Molly" Kozloski; an infant son, John Charles Kozloski; and one brother, John L. Kozloski, killed in WWII.
Survivors include: His wife Lois Kozloski of Montgomery; three sons, James Kozloski, Charles Kozloski and William Kozloski, all of Montgomery; one daughter Lisa (Michael) Giese of Glen Ellyn, IL.; one sister Catherine Weber of Scottsdale, AZ.; five grandchildren, Megan (Steve) Stemmet of Yorkville, IL., Matthew Kozloski of Alta, Utah, Maren (Kelvin) King of Long Beach, MS., Robert Giese of Glen Ellyn, IL., and Andrew Giese of Glen Ellyn, IL.; also two great-grandchildren, Jacob Stemmet of Yorkville, IL., and Madyson King of Long Beach, MS.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2001 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2001 at 6:00 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home with Fr. Ronald Jones officiating.
Cremation will take place at River Hills Memorial Park.

Lorraine F. Olson
Lorraine F. Olson, 86, of Batavia, passed away January 8, 2001 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born February 23, 1914 in Batavia to Norman and Florence (Andrews) Cheney.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family. She was a life long member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was one of the original members of the Bethany Couples Club. She was also a member of the Batavia Woman of the Moose and a founding member of Moose VIP's. She was employed at Phipps Department Store and for many years at Johnson's Drug Store.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth M. Olson of 63 years; three daughters, Carolyn (Arlyn) Lund of Grantsburg, WI, Kathi (Gary) Wilson of Batavia and Mary (John) Coon of Polson, MT; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Warnecke.
Funeral services was at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2001 at Bethany Lutheran Church & South Lincoln Street, Batavia, IL. Rev. Gregory Fetzer officiated and burial was at River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.
Visitation was at Bethany Lutheran Church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Beulah O. "Dessie" Simmons
Beulah O. "Dessie" Simmons of Sandwich, IL, died Friday, January 12, 2001 at Dogwood Healthcare Center in Sandwich, IL. She was born August 23, 1913 in Hardin County, IL the daughter of the late James and Henrietta Fields.
She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Shorewood, IL.
She is survived by a daughter, Hazel Mae (William) Newton of Salem, AR; a son, Elbert "Leo" (Candace) Simmons of Oswego, IL; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elbert Y. Simmons; two sisters, Sylvia and Cozine and a brother, James Fields.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from 12:00 noon until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the McKEOWN-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD in Oswego, IL with Rev. Stan Motley officiating. Burial will take place at the Seward Mound Cemetery in Minooka, IL.

Anna Sowizdrzal
Anna Sowizdrzal, 95, of Peoria, AZ, formerly a resident of Aurora for 30 years, died January 10, 2001 in Sun City, AZ. She was born June 28, 1905 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late John and Mary Holub.
Anna was an active member of St. Anne's Unit 11 and Silver Threads of Holy Angels Church as well as the Golden Agers of Aurora.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine (George) Fotos of Peoria, AZ; proud grandmother to Vivian (Warren) Rose of Medina, Ohio and Julie Fotos of Brooklyn, New York; beloved great grandmother to Zachary and Ryan Rose, also of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and son, Walt.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Church with Fr. Joseph Nicolosi, celebrant.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 18, 2001 from 3-7 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Gladys L. (nee Landorf) Voss
Gladys L. (nee Landorf) Voss, 82, of Naperville, IL, formerly of Lisle, IL, died Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at home. She was born August 5, 1918 in Lisle, IL.
Survivors include two sisters, Viola (Joseph) Klesen of San Antonio, TX and Julia Wyllie of Naperville, IL; two nephews, Malcolm (Rose) Wyllie of Naperville, IL and Richard (Sharon) Wyllie of Downers Grove, IL; one niece, Lynn Seeman of San Antonio, TX and several great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Henry.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Naperville, IL.
Memorials to St. Thomas Hospice, 7 Salt Creek Lane, Hinsdale, IL 60521.
A memorial service will be held at St. John United Church of Christ, 1190 Olesen Lane, Naperville, IL, on Tuesday, January 16, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert McWilliams officiating.

Ruth E. Augsburg
Ruth E. Augsburg, 88, of Steward, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2001 at the Shabbona Health Care Center. She was born January 7, 1913 the daughter of John and Martha (Steuer) Schneidewind at Chicago, Illinois. Ruth married John J. Augsburg on March 31, 1951 at Naperville.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle; the Lee County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include three sons Kenneth (Charolette) Augsburg of Creston, William (Kathy) Augsburg of Joliet, and Ronald (June) Augsburg of Monroe, WI; one daughter, Kay (Dick Shewczyk) Heim of Naperville; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one son-in-law, Richard Kohley.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Mielke and John J. Augsburg; two daughters, Karen Kohley and Janet Weideman; and one brother Albert Schneidewind.
Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rochelle with Fr. David Peck officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Naperville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. A spiritual wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Elizabeth M. Bodie
Elizabeth M. Bodie, age 82, of Batavia, formerly of Aurora, died Sunday, January 14, 2001 at the Firwood Care Center, Batavia.
She was born April 3, 1918 in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by a son, Ronald E. Bodie of Grand Island, Nebraska; one daughter, Beverly Schuck of Sandwich; two grandchildren, Guy Bodie of Aurora and Jennifer Carlson of Elburn and her fiance Nathan Dunaway. One great grandchild Kayleigh. Also three brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bodie and a grandson, Dennis J. Carlson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery Geneva Twp. There is no visitation. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11 East Wilson St., Batavia, IL 60510.

Carolyn "Cari" Marie Carter
Carolyn "Cari" Marie Carter, age 61, of Elburn, died suddenly, passing from this life into the next on Friday, January 12, 2001 after being taken to Delnor Community Hospital.
Carolyn was born on October 1, 1939 the daughter of Everett and Marie (Lovell) Fenske in Aurora, IL. She grew up in Aurora and attended West Aurora High School. She graduated in 1958 and went on to study art in Chicago. Cari worked as a commercial artist for a time and made designer costumes for the Ice Follies. Cari was united in marriage to Archie Milton Carter at the New England Congregational Church in Aurora in 1963. Cari and Archie continued to make their home in Aurora. While raising her family, Cari worked for Channel 60, then a public television channel, and worked on an art show for children. For over 20 years, she has worked for Waubonsie Community College in the graphic arts department. She also has spent many years working as a partner and antique dealer for the Antique Market II in Geneva, IL. Cari was a very strong, dynamic and confident person. As a loving and devoted mother, she instilled these values into her son by teaching him, as well as setting the ultimate example. Cari was also very talented in many areas of her life. She won top awards as a professional level photographer and dog trainer. Cari was a respected artist as well as a gifted seamstress and had a hungry eye when it came to shopping for antiques. She loved to travel but never enough for her liking. In her younger years, she loved to spend many hours training and riding her beloved horses. Cari was an awesome grandma and babysitter who had as much energy as her grandchildren. She would frequently babysit her grandchildren and she would often take them to "story time" at the local Border's Book Store. She gave from the heart to all she knew and she will be missed by many.
She is survived by her loving son, David (Jeannine) Carter of Elburn; and two grandchildren, Paige and Kyle Carter; several aunts and uncles; three cousins, David (Peggy) Vaughn of Hinckley, IL, Penny (Tom) Root of Memphis, TN and Barbara Newcomb of Post, TX; her former husband, Archie Carter of Richland Center, WI; and a family of friends.
She joins now her parents who preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn on Tuesday, January 16, 2001. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Conley Funeral Home at 10:30 AM on January 17, 2001 with Rev. Katherine Lawes, pastor of the Community Congregational Church, Elburn, officiating. Interment will follow at Kaneville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name and mailed to PO Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119. Mrs. Mary Ella (Hoxsey) Dolder
Mrs. Mary Ella (Hoxsey) Dolder, 83, of Serena died Friday, January 12 at Community Hospital of Ottawa.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 16 with Rev. Kerwin Sletto officiating at the Larson-Gabel Funeral Home Ltd. 335 W. Church St., Sheridan, IL 60551-0027, phone (815)496-2003. Burial will be at the Elerding Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dolder was born January 24, 1917 in Serena Twp. to Edward and Gertrude (Brandenburg) Hoxsey. She married Edgar L. Dolder February 8, 1938 in Serena; Edgar died July 15, 1982. Besides helping her husband on their farm she had worked for many years at the Serena Grade and High School cafeteria. She was a member of the Serena United Methodist Church and been active in the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Don) Naas of Holiday Island, Arkansas; her two sons, Gary (Joan) Dolder of Sugar Grove, Danny Dolder of Spring Valley; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Johnson of Sheridan and a brother, Woodrow (Eileen) Hoxsey of Serena.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar and a brother, Warren Hoxsey.
Memorials are directed to the Serena Lions Club.
