Laurence "Larry" Marley
Laurence "Larry" Marley, 76, passed away in his North Aurora home Friday.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean; daughters, Pat Waters of Marietta, GA and Lynn Marley of Downers Grove; grandsons, Michael and Adam Waters of Marietta, GA; a sister, Irene (Mrs. Robert) Leitner of East Dundee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Myrtle Marley of Glen Ellyn.
Larry enlisted at age 17 while attending Ripon College. He saw combat as a field commissioned Second Lieutenant is World War II with the Army's 102nd Division. He earned the EAME Theatre Ribbon with a Bronze Star and Victory Medals. He was recognized with the S.N. Pickard Award for Best All Round Ripon College Man while completing his degree. He retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company with 30 years service in various Marketing Management, Marketing Personnel, and Executive Positions throughout Illinois... including time the Aurora Office Business Manager during the term of Mayor Paul Egan in 1959. His marketing responsibilities included introduction of Design Line Telephones.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 11 AM from The Healy Chapel, Aurora, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL, 60506 with Rev. Dave Huffman officiating. Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001 from 5 to 8 PM at The Healy Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the VITAS Hospice at 580 Waters Edge Drive, Lombard, IL, 60148 or Fox Valley Animal Welfare League, Inc. 600 S. River St. Aurora, IL, 60506.

Evelyn Marquardt
A memorial mass will be said at 11:00 AM on April 21, 2001, at Annunciation Church in Aurora for Evelyn Marquardt, 90, who died on March 23, 2001, at Oak Crest Health Center in DeKalb.
She was born July 15, 1910, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Widowed in 1941, she married Fred Marquardt in 1948 and moved to Elmhurst, IL. For over 15 years, she was the secretary to the Elmhurst police chief, retiring in 1975.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Fred of DeKalb; her daughters, Evelyn (Don) Essling of Aurora and Terri (Jim) Hass of Rockford; nine grandchildren Donna (Max) Daniels of Wheaton, Sue (Greg) Massie of Kearney, AZ, Dale (Lisa) Essling of Elburn, Joseph (Betty) Essling of Batavia, Bill (Mary) Essling of Aurora, Peter Essling of Aurora, Peggy (Tom) Catalano of Morton, IL., Mary (Scott) Goodkin of Jackson, WY., and Patrick (Marie) Drake of Marseilles, IL.; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons and a sister, Viola Kuh of Downers Grove.
Preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Burke, her oldest daughter, Peggy Drake, grandson, Michael Drake, a great-grandson Kyle Drake, in infancy, a sister Gladys Whitlock and two brothers, Sterling and Norton Whitlock.

James C. Covington
James C. Covington, 70, of North Aurora, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora.
He was born October 10, 1930 in Union County, Mississippi, the son of James and Eula (nee Warren) Covington.
He attended school in Harmony and Macedonia, Mississippi. He then entered the U.S. Army and served from 1951 until 1953. He then moved to Aurora to live with his sister and family. He was united in marriage on June 11, 1955 to Barbara J. (nee Smith) Covington at her parents home in Elburn, Illinois. He was a professional truck driver for many years, prior to his retirement. He was a life member of the Hines Blind Center Alumni Association, Inc. and an Associate Life Member of the Blinded Veterans Association of the National Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara J. Covington; four children, Ricky L. (Janet) Covington of Bismark, Missouri, James D. Covington of Pasadena, California, Edward L. Covington and Nicole L. Covington of North Aurora; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Hill of Aurora and Annie (Jerry) Rutledge of Tupelo, Mississippi; a brother, Clifton (Doris) Covington of Collierville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; three great great nephews; and three aunts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Ladell Covington.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 PM on Monday, April 16, 2001 at the Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home in Batavia.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Fields officiating. Interment will be at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the donor's choice.

Harriet L. Burmeier
Harriet L. Burmeier, 83, of Aurora, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001 at Alderwood Nursing Home in So. Elgin.
She was born Dec. 23, 1917 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Ronald and Loree (Tedford) MacDougall.
Complete funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 So. Broadway (Route 25), Montgomery, where friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2001.

Reno J. Ferrario
Reno J. Ferrario, 72, of Aurora passed away on Friday, April 13, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora.
He was born December 29, 1928 in Aurora.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954. He retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1991 after 37 years of service. Reno was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Aurora. He was a very active member of the Montgomery V.F.W. Post # 7452. He also belonged to the Tiger Club, the Phoenix Club, Amvets and was a former President of the Italian-American Club. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and spending time with his family. His many friends and family will sadly miss him.
Reno is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carol (Snodgrass); his sons, John (Terri) and Tom (Kathy); his daughters, Julie Ferrario and Susan (Ben) Moon; ten grandchildren, Vanessa, John Jr, and Heather Ferrario, Mike and Shannon Hess, Benjamin and Austin Moon, Ryan Ferrario, Lauren Kuhlemeyer and Samuel Vinson; a sister, Josephine Fiefer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Johanna Ferrario; and a brother-in-law, Jack Fiefer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001 from 4 to 8 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at 10 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Jones officiating.

Mary Frances Giltjes
Mary Frances Giltjes, 71, of Plano passed away Saturday, April 14, 2001 at home, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born August 19, 1929 in Sandwich, IL, the daughter of Fred and Frances A. (Myers) Weir. She married Jan O. Giltjes in her parents home in Harding, Illinois. She was employed for several years for the Aurora Beacon Newspaper in the Plano office. She was a member of R.L.D.S. Church in Plano, American Legion Leon Burson Post #395 Auxiliary, Plano Women's Club, Kendall County Historical Society, Cedardell Golf Club in Plano and Town and Country Coffee Girls. Mary also volunteered for the Little Rock Public Library.
She is survived by one daughter, Jody (John) Hartley of Compton, IL; two sons, Daniel (Carol) Giltjes of Aurora and Jim (Lee) Giltjes of Plano; nine grandchildren, Alex (Rebecca) Wilson, Jacob Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Aaron Wilson, Noah Wilson and Evan Hartley, Opal Giltjes, Misty (Geoffrey) Farnham and Chantelle Giltjes; three great-grandchildren, John, Brandon and Brian; three sisters, Gwendolyn (Cecil) Davis of Oak Grove, Missouri, Virginia (John) Weir of Yorkville, IL and Jeanne (Richard) Baker of Leland, IL; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and very dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; great-granddaughter, Brandi Giltjes-Cox; one brother, Fred "Freddie" Weir and her parents.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Turner Funeral Home, 3952 Turner Ave. (1/4 mile west of Eldamain Road) with the Pastor Denny Ramer of Community of Christ Church, formerly R.L.D.S. officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at the funeral home. Interment will be 10:30a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Little Rock Twp. Cemetery in Plano, IL.

Elinor Muree Woolcott Holdeman
Elinor Muree Woolcott Holdeman, 78, of Naperville died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at the Community Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Naperville. She was born November 11, 1922 in Batavia and had lived in Naperville for the past 31 years.
Mrs. Holdeman had worked for over 25 years at North Central College in food service and prior to that, she had worked for Colonial Caterers both located in Naperville. She was a member and past president of the Elburn American Legion Post Auxiliary. Mrs. Holdeman volunteered during the last six years at the DuPage County Convalescent Center in Wheaton. She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Naperville.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford Holdeman of Naperville; one son, Michael (Cathy) Woolcott of Green River, WY; two daughters, Julia (Wayne) Sandall of Omaha, NE and Amy Coakley of Naperville; one sister, Pennie (Art) Griesmann of Batavia; 10 grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Beatrice (nee Bennett) Thorne; her first husband, Fred W. Woolcott; one son, Barry J. Woolcott; three sisters, Rose Anderson, Bernice Hill and Gwen Thorne and one granddaughter, Brenda Hawker.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 25W341 Ridgeland Ave. Naperville with Bishop Taylor Manning officiating. Interment at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home. 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville.

Verdel J. Howell
Verdel Howell, 75, of Aurora passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Jennings Terrace after a long battle with cancer. Verdel was born in Chicago on October 8, 1925.
In 1948, she moved to Aurora. Verdel worked for Clarence Hankes Accounting until her retirement. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Aurora.
She is survived by two nephews, Dennis (Corrine) Miklosh of Plano, Texas and Gerald (Charlene) Miklosh of Ambler, Pennsylvania and great niece and a great nephew.
Verdel was preceded in death by her parents, Minna and Louis Goldman and one sister, Elvera Miklosh.
Funeral services were private. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Elizabeth (Betty) Krebs
Elizabeth (Betty) Krebs, age 82, died April 10, 2001 in Anaheim, California. Ms. Krebs was a former resident of Aurora living on Sard Ave. before moving to California. Betty was employed by IBM Company in Aurora and California.
She is survived by three sisters, Ann, and Barbara Krebs of California, Irene (George) Courter of Denver, Colorado, two sister-in-laws, Helen and Alice Krebs of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews.

Luella E. Parrish
Luella E. Parrish, age 88 of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Aurora Manor in Aurora, IL. She was born June 18, 1912 in Brainard, MN, the daughter of Warren and Gertrude (nee Hoard) Campbell.
Luella was blessed with a long and active life and will be remembered by her family and many friends for her quiet nature and caring for others.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Bruce) Retterer, of Manitowoe, WI; four grandchildren, Cheryl (Chris) Schehl, Rob and Rich Retterer and Kyle Richie; a great grandson, William Christopher Schehl; and two nephews, Dave and Roger Campbell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Parrish; daughter, Mary Lou Kerr; brother, Richard Campbell and sister Ethel Campbell.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the Congregational Church, 21 S. Batavia Avenue in Batavia. The Rev. David Foxgrover will officiate. Interment will be private. There will be no visitation.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the United Parkinson Foundation, 833 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607.

Anthony E. Pinkard
Anthony E. Pinkard, 16, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Provena Mercy Center. He was born on September 21, 1984 in St. Charles, Illinois, the son of Tom and Patricia (Morrison) Pinkard.
Anthony was a sophomore at West Aurora High School, where he was a member of the school choir.
Anthony is survived by his parents Tom and Patricia Pinkard of Aurora, one sister Nicole Pinkard of Aurora, maternal grandparents, Lucien and Lucille Morrison of Aurora; paternal grandparents, Eugene and Alberta Pinkard of St. Charles; 2 aunts Tammy (John) Kayse of Belvidere, IL and Sherry Klutts of Aurora; 2 cousins Jesse and Katrina Willoughby.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 from 4-8:00 PM at the Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer PL., Aurora.
Private graveside services will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Miller officiating.

Vern Hozie
Vern Hozie, age 70, of Earlville, IL, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2001 at the Mendota Community Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1930 in Grand Ridge, IL, the son of Joseph and Verneille (Dulian) Hozie. Vern was united in marriage to Darleen (Walley) Gunther on July 12, 1997 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL. He farmed in Streator and Hinckley, IL most of his life, along with doing carpentry work. Upon retiring from farming he became a Real Estate Agent at All Service Real Estate in Plano, IL. Vern was a member of the Streator Lions Club and received Lion of the Year in 1970. He enjoyed bowling and was an active league bowler in Streator for many years. During his lifetime as a Lutheran he served as an Elder, belonged to the choir and served on many committees, was a past president of a Lutheran Congregation and was currently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville.
Survivors include his wife Darleen of Earlville, IL; two daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Craig of Streator, IL, Debra (Bill) Hopkins of Seneca, IL; two sisters, Mary Lou Brown of Cave Creek, AZ, Doris Jean Dimmig of Streator, IL; five step-children, Mark (Dee) Gunther of Roseville, CA, Robert Gunther of St. Louis, MO, Debbie (Steve) Morgan of Roanoke, TX, Pam (James) Williams of Arlington, TX, and Kurt (Karen) Gunther of Mundelein, IL; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Jeffrey Joseph Hozie in infancy.
Funeral services for Vern will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 11:00a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Earlville, IL, Rev. Donald L. Knowles will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. at Burkhart Funeral Home, Sandwich.
Memorials may be made in Vern's name to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Earlville, IL, St. John's Lutheran Church, Somonauk, IL and the American Heart Association.

Raymond A. Anderson
Raymond A. Anderson, 80, of Naples, Florida formerly of Aurora passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida.
He was born August 27, 1920 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Charles and Carrie (Kaiser) Anderson.
Raymond was a 1938 graduate of West Aurora High School. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II from 1942-1946. He married the former Jean Hippe on May 5, 1943 at St. Mary's Church. He worked for the Beacon News and Lyon Metal Products and subsequently founded and was President of Aurora Container Corporation until his retirement in 1986. Raymond and Jean had been seasonal residents of Naples, Florida, moving there permanently in 1992. They both were members of Holy Angels Church in Aurora and were currently members of St. William Church in Naples, Florida.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jean of Naples, Florida; his daughter, Constance J. (James) Cronin of Hanover, MA; his son, Richard C. Anderson of Bonita Springs, Florida; seven grandchildren, Kristin and Amy Anderson, James, Brendan and Kevin Cronin and Erica and Scott Anderson; his daughter-in-law, Kitty Anderson of Aurora.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his son Robert R. Anderson in 1998.
A Memorial Mass will take place at 10a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Holy Angels Church. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 20th at The Healy Chapel. 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Holy Angels Church or to the American Heart Association.

Harriet L. Burmeier
Harriet L. Burmeier, 83, of Aurora, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001 at Alderwood Nursing Home in So. Elgin. She was born December 23, 1917 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Ronald and Loree (Tedford) Mac Dougall.
Mrs. Burmeier was a past member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora and was employed as secretary at Thor Power Tool in Aurora for over 18 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution Aurora Chapter #5-007-11.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara J. Biddle of Batavia; one son, William T. (Ellen) Burmeier, Sr. of Aurora; two grandsons, Andrew T. (Jennifer) Biddle of St. Charles and William T. Burmeier, Jr. of Aurora; one nephew, Gary (Barbara) Suttner of Belleville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, George M. Burmeier (Nov. 2000) and her parents.
Funeral services for Mrs. Burmeier will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the Dieterle Memorial Home. 1120 S. Broadway (Rt. 25), Montgomery at 11 a.m. The Rev. John S. Hall will officiate with interment in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at the Dieterle Memorial Home from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation in Mrs. Burmeier's name. 897-1196.

Richard Fayfar
Richard Fayfar, 74, of Aurora, passed away Monday, April 16, 2001 at Rush Copley Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born April 14, 1927 in Aurora, IL.
Mr. Fayfar was a US Navy veteran, and a member of the Montgomery V.F.W. He held memberships with the Aurora Moose #400, Aurora Turners, Lucky 50 Club and was a life time member of the 3rd Ward Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Marie (Peters); three children Nancy Franck, Shirley (John) Ratz and Janet (John) Cairo; seven grandchildren Eric Franck, Kristi, Stacie and T.J. Ratz, P.J., Annie and Cory Cairo; two brothers Joseph (Barb) and Stanley (Agnes) Fayfar; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Pajar) Fayfar; a brother Albert Fayfar; a granddaughter Danielle.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2001 at 9:30 AM from THE DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY to St. Rita of Cascia Church at 10:00 AM Fr. Robert Willhite will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Aurora.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2001 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:30 PM at THE DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora. (630) 898-8634.
