Helen "Sue" L. Betz
Helen "Sue" L. Betz, 51 of Aurora, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2000 at Rush-Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora after a three month battle with cancer. She was born January 10, 1949 in Aurora, IL.
She was employed by Harris Bank as an executive Vice-President retiring in May of 1999. She was previously by Valley National and Suburban National Banks.
Helen was preceded in death by her father Raymond Williams, paternal grand-parents Raymond and Muriel Williams, Maternal grand-parents, Andrew Gillihan and Mary Leach, also a niece Jennifer Stankus.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Betz of Montgomery, a step-son Ronald Betz of Clearwater FL, a step-daughter Teri (Doug) Swift of Clearwater , FL, her mother Linnie Williams of Boulder Hill, a brother, Lennie (Wendy) Williams of Melbourne, FL, a sister Onie (Robert) Stankus of Satellite Beach FL, two aunts, Arlene (Kenneth) Latham of Aurora, and Martha (Vernon) Osenga of Kankakee, IL, niece, Tammy (Scott) Tomter of Oswego, Nephew, Kevin (Roda) Walton of St. Charles, IL, nephew, Lennie Ray (Stacy) Williams Jr. of Lake in the Hills, IL, niece and god-daughter Stefanie Stankus of Chicago, IL, niece and god-daughter Julie (Brian) Naughton of Chicago, niece and god-daughter Kelly (Jeff) Dedrick of Satellite Beach, FL. Also several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2000 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 30, 2000 at 2 PM at the Dieterle Memorial Home with Harlan Froelick and Robert Reed co-officiating.
Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Oswego, IL.

Melvin John Christensen
Melvin John Christensen, age 88 of Hinckley, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at the Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona, Illinois. He was born on November 8, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Emelia (Beck) Christensen.
Mr. Christensen was a member of the Hinckley Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL. Melvin attended the Chicago Public Schools and was a graduate of Austin High School in Chicago, IL. He served, during World War II, as a Sergeant with the Army Signal Corps., as a radar operator during campaigns in Africa, Sicily and Italy. After his discharge, he went on to college using the G.I. Bill at the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. Melvin then graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He went on to become a co-owner of the Whirl-Air Flow Company, first located in Chicago, IL and then located in Minneapolis, MN. Melvin was an inventor of a conveyor belt for blowing sand throughout glass manufacturing production systems. For many years, Mr. Christensen lived in Fridley, Minnesota and was a former member of its Toastmasters Club. He enjoyed playing chess, and over the years, had several chess partners through correspondence.
He is survived by his three nieces, Arline Dixson of Hinckley, Marilyn (Anthony) Caliendo of Aurora and Virginia Johnson of Hinckley; his nephew, Kenneth (Virginia) Powers of Springfield, MO; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harry James Christensen; his three sisters, Mildred Powers, Allie Johnson and Carla Christensen; his niece, Lois Wilson and his nephew, Vere Powers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel with Rev. D. Robin Benson officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, IL.
Friends may call from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 N. Maple Street in Hinckley, Illinois.

Richard Kennedy
Age 80, passed away Wednesday December 27 at his home in Euless, Tx.
He was born in Lewis, Iowa to the Rev. Lester and Mae Kennedy. His father became paster of the Plainfield Congregational Church in 1937. Richard finished schooling at Plainfield, becoming a star player on the championship Plainfield football team that year.
He went to work for Stevens-Adamson of Aurora and played on the National championship softball teams for several years. In 1948 he married Geraldine Graham of Plainfield. They had 5 children who now live in California.
Moving to St. Louis, Omaha , and Fortworth Mr. Kennedy became a salesman in Industrial products before retiring in Euless, Tx.
He is survived by thirteen grandchildren.
No formal funeral is planned.

Richard H. Pace
Richard H. Pace, Sr., 80, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at his home.
He was born April 6, 1920 in Chicago, IL. Richard was a Master Sergeant with the 33rd Brigade of the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Sally A. (Hegyi) Pace of Aurora; his children, Richard (Jayne) Pace, Raymond Pace, Charles (Helen) Pace, David (Angelia) Pace, Mary (Kevin) Burr, Janet Pace, Karen (Steve) Johnson and Kevin Willman; his grandchildren, Julie Sawchuck, Kristine, Jamie, Raymond, Katie, Stephen, Cassandra, Charles, James, Rick, Jerry, Susie, Cindy, David, Serena, Richard and Keifer Pace, Charles Willman, Courtney Weekly, Dwayne, Jordan, Samuel and Elizabeth Burr, and Christopher and Tiffany Robinson; several great grandchildren; and his special friends, Steve and Bess Angelakos and Josephine Hegyi.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mary Grace Burr; his parents, George E. and Louise (Hope) Pace Sr.; and his sister, Shirley Towner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2000 at 11:30 AM at The Daleiden Lake St. Mortuary. Fr. Bernard Schaefer, OSB will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mary (Lambke) Basista
Mary (Lambke) Basista, 47, of Montgomery, died suddenly Thursday, December 28, 2000 in Rush-Copley Medical Center. Mary was born May 3, 1953 in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of Eleanor J. Raggio Fabian of Aurora and the late Joseph Fabian. Mrs. Basista was a former resident of Cook and Kane Counties before moving to Kendall County in 1976. She was the Plant Manager/Secretary for Johnson Control where she has worked since 1988.
Survivors include her husband whom she married on February 27, 1998, Larry C. Basista of Montgomery; two children, Wendy Lambke of Des Moines, Iowa and Mark Lambke of Midlothian, Virginia; one sister, Joanne Fabian of Mecedah, WI; a grandson, Robert Lambke; five step children, Laura (Al) Aylsworth of Batavia, Wendy (Terry) O'Brien of McHenry, Scott Basista of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Julia Alsup of Elburn, and Mary Basista of Maple Heights, OH.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Fabian and one sister, Lenore Bonke.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego.
Calling will be on Monday, January 1, 2001 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway (Rt. 25) Montgomery.

Tom W. Campbell
Tom W. Campbell, 80, of Sugar Grove, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2000 at Elmwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 20, 1920 in Atlanta, GA, son of Carlos and Frieda Campbell.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He retired as a machinist from the Burlington Northern Railroad. Tom loved to be outdoors working in the yard and garden. He and his wife Gerre lived in North Carolina, Downers Grove, Naperville, and Hawaii before residing in Sugar Grove.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gerre of Sugar Grove, daughter, Kathy (Terry) Bisek of Park Ridge, IL, son, Mark (Lori Clark) of Milwaukee, WI, and grandchildren, Brandon and Marisa Bisek of Park Ridge, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2000 from 2-6 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, Sugar Grove, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554.

Mary E. Hayes Harrison
Mrs. Leon (Mary E. Hayes) Harrison, 87, formerly of Gardner, IL & Arizona, died Friday, December 29, 2000 at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora. born March 24, 1913 in East Chicago, IN. Daughter of Collins J. & Florence Apperman Anderson.
Employed with State of Illinois as a Bookkeeper for 16 years at both Dwight Correctional Center and Fox Children's Home retiring in 1975. With her husband she moved to Arizona in 1976 and returned to Illinois in 1992 following the death of her husband.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Campbell, Chicago, Barbara Parrish, Plano, and Karen (Wayne) Agee, Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Elliott (Delores) Hayes, Shreveport, LA and John (Edith) Hayes, Brookfield, IL; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ruth Jorgensen, Oak Lawn.
Preceded by her parents; first husband, Elliott Hayes; second husband, Leon Harrison; two children in infancy; one granddaughter, Rebecca Lohmeyer; and two brothers, Victor and Russel Anderson.

Cathryn M. Johnson
Cathryn M. Johnson, 74, of Aurora passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2000 at Hillside Healthcare Center in Yorkville following an extended illness. She was born March 11, 1926 in Aurora, IL to the late Michael and Agnes (Leigh) Lynch. Cathryn was a member of Holy Angels Church of Aurora. She worked as a social worker and was associated with Catholic Charities of Aurora, Foxhill Home of Batavia as well as Breaking Free of Aurora.
Cathryn is survived by her two sons, Michael C. (Andrea) Johnson of Omaha, NE and Leigh K. Johnson of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Deanna and Daniel Johnson, both of Omaha, NE; her sister, Janet Halgirmson of Cuba, IL; her brother-in-law, Elmer W. (Margaret) Johnson of Aurora; her nieces and nephews, Lisa (Frank) Bennett of Lewistown, IL, Gay (Ross) Johnson of Galesburg, IL, Mark Halgirmson of Rochester, Minnesota, Robert Johnson of Aurora, Richard Johnson of Aurora and Donald Johnson of Monpara, California.
Besides her parents, Cathryn was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth L. Johnson in 1992.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at Holy Angels Church. Fr. Joseph Nicolosi will officiate. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. Pauline L. Shonesky Pribonic
Pauline L. Shonesky Pribonic, 87, of Aurora, IL, formerly of New Kensington and McKeesport, PA, died on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at McCauley Manor, Aurora, IL.
Born March 13, 1913 in Gates, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Paulina Scucinski Zachousky.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Christy Park, its' Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild, The Catholic Daughters of America #221, A.A.R.P. Versailles Chapter #2911, and Mount Vernon Chapter #2551 and the Senior Citizens.
Wife of the late Joseph Shonesky and Mark Pribonic, she is survived by her children, Joseph Shonesky of Elizabeth Township, PA, Joyce Conklin of Montgomery, IL, Reverend Phillip Pribonic of Library, PA, Loretta Candelore of Elizabeth, PA; a sister, Frances Riazza of California; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Anthony Zachousky, Chester Zackowski, Stanley Zachousky; and sister, Josephine Naperatz.
Friends will be received Saturday, from 9 to 11:30 AM at the Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home, Inc, O'Neil at Fawcett Blvd, McKeesport. Kathy Jo Anderson, 45 years of Montgomery, IL, died suddenly Friday, December 1, 2000 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born February 16, 1955 in Iowa City, IA.
She was a member of the class of 1973 of Oswego Community High School.
She is survived by her three sons, Rodney (Jamie) Mantzke, Dustin Anderson, Gage Anderson, all of Batavia, IL; a granddaughter, Mariah Mantzke; her mother Mary Beyer of Montgomery, IL; and a brother, Roger David of Sandwich, IL.

Amanda Chase, 18, of Anamosa, Iowa, formerly of Marseilles, IL, died Fri., Dec. 1, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapid, Iowa, as the result of a two-vehicle accident caused by poor road conditions from the snowfall overnight.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Fri., Dec. 8, 2000 at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 204 S. Monroe St., Streator, IL.

Amanda was born June 2, 1982 in Streator, IL, to Jeffrey Chase and Deborah Hopkins Chase. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart Super Center in Cedar Rapids.

Shirley E. Johnson
Shirley E. Johnson, 70, of Sandwich, IL, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000 at his home in Sandwich. He was born September 21, 1929 in Adrian, West Virginia, the son of Allen and Aida Mae (Phillips) Johnson. He married Betty Lee Martin on April 16, 1955 in Adrian, West Virginia. He was employed by Caterpillar in Aurora for 32 years, retiring September 1991 as a Heat Treat Operator. He was a Veteran of Korean Conflict having served in the Army 101st Air Borne. He helped everyone especially his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the Turner Funeral Home in Somonauk, Illinois with the Pastor Charles Chase of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Burial will be in Little Rock Township Cemetery, Plano, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5th at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael Martin, Robert Shores, Gary Martin, Rick Martin, Rick Razo and Chandler Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lee Johnson of Sandwich; his children, Sheila Razo of Ottawa, Brent Johnson and Randy Johnson of Sandwich, Brenda (Art) Figgins of Millington and Phillip (Lori) Johnson of Plano; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; one uncle, George Phillips of Reisterstown, MD.

Daniel L. Lawrence
Daniel L. Lawrence, 35, of Big Rock, passed away on Sunday December 3, 2000 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.
He was born September 23, 1965 in Aurora to Evelyn (St. Clair) and the late Albert E. "Friday" Lawrence.
Daniel held a great passion for motorcycling and drag racing. For the past 11 years he had been associated with the IBDA and Prostar Racing Divisions. This past season he finished with a seventh place ranking racing at the Route 66 Joliet Motor Speedway. He worked as an Operations Manager at Corporate Business Systems.
Daniel is survived by his mother Evelyn (St. Clair) Lawrence of Big Rock, his sister Sharon (Dan) Brown of Vacaville, CA., his two brothers David Dunkle of San Ramon, CA., and Steve Dunkle of Aurora ; his fiancee Cheryl McMurren of Big Rock; his Aunt Shirley (Russ) Johnson of Baldwin, WI., his Uncle Lee (Shirley) Lawrence of South Elgin as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father Albert E. "Friday" Lawrence in 1992.
Visitation will take place from 4-8 PM on Wednesday December 6, 2000 at The Healy Sugar Grove Chapel 370 Division Dr. Sugar Grove. John N. Moser, Jr.
John N. Moser, Jr., 54, of St. Louis, formerly of Aurora, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2nd, 2000 at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born Nov. 30, 1946 in Aurora.
Mr. Moser was a Viet Nam Veteran; past member of Montgomery VFW Post #7452; lifetime member and past post commander of VFW Post #4105, from 1982 - 1983 in Florissant, MO.
He is survived by his son, Shawn M. Moser of Hillsboro, MO; his parents, John N. (Dorothy Schneider) Moser Sr. of Orlando, FL; five sisters, Carol (George) Carey of Batavia, Cathy M. Hughes of Lakeside, CA, Linda (Larry) Burns of Hinckley, Kristy (Donald) Schleining of Montgomery and Laurie Smith of Plano; three brothers, William L. (Vallas) Moser of Orlando, FL, Jerry A. Mary H. Mueller, 71, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Provena Mercy Center. She was born March 6, 1929 in Aurora to the late Elmer and Helen Barnes.
Mary H. Barnes was untied in marriage to Arthur J. Mueller December 27, 1952 in Aurora. She made a career in nursing before raising her family, then later returned to her vocation. She took great joy in being a mother, grandmother, and entertaining family and friends.
Mary is survived by her four children, Mary (Carlos Monge) Mueller of Wheaton, Michael J. Mueller of Yorkville, Steven G. (Kim) Mueller of Woodstock, Melissa A. Mueller of Sycamore; four grandchildren, Erin, Laura, Michael, Nicholas Mueller; one brother, Robert Barnes of Aurora, and several nieces and nephews.

LaVerna J. Snyder, 71 years of Oswego, IL died Sunday, December 3, 2000 at the residence of her daughter in Sugar Grove, IL. She was born March 17, 1929 in Sheridan, Iowa the daughter of the late Otto A. and Leola E. (nee Nine) Myers.
She is survived by her loving children, Bruce (Pamela) Snyder of Geneva, IL, Dennis (Denise) Snyder of Big Rock, IL, Dwight (Nancy) Snyder of Garrettsville, OH, LeRoy (Maggie) Snyder of Batavia, IL, Glenda (Paul) Munday of Sugar Grove, IL; twelve grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory, Mason, Neil, Emily, Ryan, Aaron, Kristy, Jaclyn, Jenni, Paul, Matthew; great grandson, Chaz; two sisters, Evelyn Wright of Berryville, AR, Mildred Dunlap of Abbotsford, WI; a brother, Robert (Shirley) Myers of Montgomery, IL, and by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight Snyder on June 13, 1961; a sister, Joy Ann Hall; and brother, Otto Myers, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2000 at the McKEOWN-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, LTD in Oswego, IL with Pastor Steve Good officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Katie L. (Goldsmith) Tune
Katie L. (Goldsmith) Tune, 70, of Oswego, IL, passed away, Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Hillside Nursing Home in Yorkville. She was born June 10, 1930 in Campbell, MO, the daughter of the late, Charles E. and Flora E. (Emery) Goldsmith.
Katie was a member of the Oswego Presbyterian Church. She was employed by Processed Plastics in Montgomery for several years and then for Oswego School District 308 for 14 years.
She is survived by her six children, Ellen Cather of Montgomery, Wayne (Jane) Tune of Sandwich, Linda Camp of Cabot, AR, Donna (Roy) Gates of Yorkville, Betty (Jeff) Howe of Fort Worth, TX, and Brenda (Tim) Ross of Yorkville; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Marie (Chester) Peterson; four brothers, Floyd (Lou), Cloys Dale (Brenda), Donald (Ada) and Doyle Gene (Sara) Goldsmith and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close companion of 20 years, Horace Rye of Johnston City, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dolly Mae Goldsmith and Dorothy Fletcher; and two brothers, Charles Jr. and Gary Ronald Goldsmith.
Katie was a very loving and caring person. She loved her children and grandchildren with a generous heart and fun loving spirit. She enjoyed life, going for long walks, flower gardening, bird watching, reading and most of all being with her family. Katie touched many hearts.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2000 at the Oswego Presbyterian Church in Oswego with the Rev. Leon Aalbert officiating. Private graveside services will be at a later date at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2000 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 3952 Turner Ave., (1/4 mi. W. of Eldamain Road), Plano, IL. 630/552-3022.

Erwin Zelensek
Erwin Zelensek, 78, of Montgomery, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Rush-Copley Hospital.
He was born in Aurora on May 3, 1922. Mr. Zelensek was employed at All-Steel Manufacturing in Montgomery for 35 years until his retirement in 1988. He loved to work in his garden and do word puzzles.
Surviving are his son James (Judith) Zelensek of Montgomery; one granddaughter: Megan Zelensek and one grandson: Matthew Zelensek both of Montgomery; one sister: Doris Storm of Montgomery; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close personal friend Donny.
He is preceded in death by his wife Jean in January of 1998; one son Erwin Zelensek Jr. in infancy; and a brother-in-law: Harry Storm.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. Visitation for Mr. Zelensek will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at the Dieterle Memorial Home from 6-8 PM. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. (630)897-1196.
