MILDRED THOMPSON
Mildred Thompson, 89, of Shabbona, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Shabbona Healthcare Center.
Born Aug. 15, 1914, in rural Lee, she was the daughter of Wallace and Charlotte (Follett) Fleming. Mildred married Tony Thompson on Jan. 21, 1933, at the family farm in rural Lee.
Tony and Mildred farmed together for many years in rural Shabbona and Lee. She moved to Shabbona several years after Tony's death and moved to the Shabbona Healthcare Center on June 15, 2002. Mildred was a Sunday School teacher, secretary treasurer of the Sunday School and member of the board of the former Lee Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Shabbona. Mildred had a very sweet disposition and welcomed everyone into her home, where she would bake cookies and many other goods for her guests.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Larsen of Lee, Mary (Larry) Simpson of Earlville and Karen (Lynn) Colby of Valparaiso, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn "Tootsie" Votaw of Belvidere; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony, on May 23, 1970; two sons, Howard Leonard, who died at birth, and Richard, who died Aug. 4, 1980; a granddaughter Shelly Thompson Severson; a brother, Howard Fleming; and a son-in-law, Stu Larsen.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at the United Church of Christ in Shabbona with Pastor Daniel Penn of Unity Hospice officiating. Burial will be at Old English Cemetery in Shabbona. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona.
A memorial fund is being established.

DONNA M. HARRISON
Donna M. Harrison, 64, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Shabbona, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the home she shared with her sister in DeKalb.
Born July 9, 1939, in Francisville, Ind., she was the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Eden) Griepentrog. Donna was a 1957 graduate of Shabbona High School.
She was the owner of Donna's China Shop for more than 25 years and was an active member of the China Painters' Guild, Eastern Star and the Moose. She was formerly employed at Swift & Co. in Rochelle for 20 years and worked at Federal Express in Fort Worth until her retirement.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra Maki of DeKalb, and four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family service will be held.
The family would like to especially thank DeKalb County Home Care for its compassion and care.
Arrangements were completed by Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona.

PAUL F. JOHNSON
Paul F. Johnson, 81, of Shabbona, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
Born July 27, 1922, in rural Shabbona, he was the son of Frank F. and Alice E. (Houghtby) Johnson. He married Mary Wise on April 25, 1943, in Paw Paw.
Paul was a farmer in the Shabbona area for many years. He was an avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher. He enjoyed working at the Sandwich Fair, where he worked for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary W. Johnson; two sons, David W. (Carolyn) Johnson of Rockford and Denny (Janis) Johnson of Knob Noster, Mo.; a daughter, Barbara (Terry) Goodin of Roscoe; a brother, Richard (Mary) Johnson of DeKalb; a sister, Claretta Suppeland of Cortland; seven grandchildren, Roger W. Johnson, Paul E. (Dionne) Johnson, DeLynn R. Johnson, Kevin Paul (Amy) Johnson, Jennie Johnson, Michael Goodin and Jonathan (Nancy) Goodin; five great-grandchildren, Noah Paul Johnson, Anna S. Johnson, Elaine Johnson, Griffin Paul Johnson and Anna G. Johnson; and a special friend and neighbor, Thomas Malohn.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Chet, Howard, Ernest and Clarence, who died in infancy; and a sister, Viola Strand.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Shabbona United Church of Christ with the Rev. Irene P. Pouliot, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Wyoming Cemetery in Paw Paw. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
A memorial fund is being established.
Arrangements were completed by Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona.

LILLIAN A. DANIEL
Lillian A. Daniel, 90, of DeKalb, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb.
Born March 10, 1913, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Anton and Marie (Malina) Wier. Lillian married Lawrence Daniel on Aug. 31, 1935, in Cicero.
Lillian was a devoted wife and mother, and especially a helping hand on the family farm in Caledonia, Ill. Lillian lived in the DeKalb community since 1999, moving here from Belvidere. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, the Boone County Farm Bureau and the Home Makers Extension Association of Boone County.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of DeKalb; two sons, Robert (Linda) Daniel of Waterman and Arthur (Mary Ann) Daniel of Warren, Mich.; four grandchildren, David (Sara) Daniel, Karen (Frank) Rannie III, Paul Daniel, Susan (Wade) Charnesky; two great-grandchildren, Alex Daniel and Natalie Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elsie Piefer and Mae Chalupnik; and two brothers, Charles and Joseph.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb.
Memorials can be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Oak Crest.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

WILLIAM R. 'BILL' UNDERWOOD
William R. "Bill" Underwood, 78, of Hodgenville, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the Helmwood Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

SAMUEL CLYDE WILLIS
Samuel Clyde Willis, 86, of Sycamore, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born April 5, 1917, in Cherry Valley, Ark., he was the son of Jeff and Lula Willis. He married Odessa Greenwood; she preceded him in death in 1978. He married Rebecca Keen in 1983.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. as an electrician for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Sam was a member of Elks Lodge 1392, Moose Lodge 1506, Sycamore VFW Post 5768 and American Legion Post 8337.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of Sycamore; four granddaughters, Vicki, Lisa, Robin and Dawn, all of Tucson, Ariz.; a grandson, Mike Davis of DeKalb; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Mayberry of Michigan; and four stepchildren, Thomas (Debbie) Keen of Creston, John (Debbie) Keen of Sycamore, Col. P.K. (Marry Ellen) Keen of Colorado and Lila (Troy) Barnhardt of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Odessa; a daughter, Carol Davis; a sister, Euvada Martin; and a stepdaughter, Shirley Hoffmann.
The funeral service and burial will be held in Wynne, Ark. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Meals on Wheels, Voluntary Action Center or a Hospice program of the donor's choice in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

DOUGLAS L. SKOGLUND
Douglas L. Skoglund, 59, of Rochelle, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at Rochelle Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 29, 1944, in DeKalb, he was the son of Leonard M. and Helen J. (Kientz) Skoglund. He was a 1962 graduate of Rochelle Township High School and a 1973 graduate of Southern Illinois University. He was retired after serving as administrator of parks for the city of Vineland, N.J., for 18 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, animals, plant life and, most of all, people. His memberships included the American Mental Health Association, New Jersey Park Association, Illinois Park Association, St. Patrick Church, American Red Cross, American Diabetes Association and American Cancer Society.
He is survived by two sons, Erik Skoglund of Rochelle and Patrik Skoglund of Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter, Sarah Skoglund of Vineland, N.J.; and two sisters, Joyce Widmark of Arlington Heights and Sharon (Clyde) Jones of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at St. Patrick Catholic Church at Caron Road and Kelley Drive in Rochelle, with the Rev. David Peck officiating.
A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
Lyons Cluts-Simes Funeral Home in Rochelle assisted the family with arrangements.

BRUCE K. ELLIOTT
Bruce K. "Bud" Elliott, 77, of DeKalb, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born July 28, 1926, in La Crosse, Wis., he was the son of Alva C. and Lillian (Kindley) Elliott. Bruce married Doris A. Hilton in 1947 in La Grange; he later married Ann (Dorland) Bort on May 3, 1987, in DeKalb.
Before his retirement in 1989, Bruce worked in the insurance and investment brokerage firm of All American Financial. Bruce lived in the DeKalb community since 1987, having moved here from Naperville. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Bruce was a member of First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, Sigma Chi at University of Wisconsin and the Million Dollar Round Table.
If Bruce was not working, you could find him with his horses, playing polo, fox hunting or showing his skills as a jumper in the horse ring. After his high school graduation, Bruce received his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of DeKalb; three sons, Robert Elliott of Bolingbrook, Bruce K. (Donna) Elliott of Winfield and Barry Elliott of Fox Lake; and three grandchildren, Bo, Lindsey and Courtney Elliott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at First United Methodist Church in DeKalb with the Rev. Kitty Ganzel officiating. Family will receive friends from 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Bronswood Cemetery in Oak Brook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

JACOB KIJOWSKI
Jacob Tyler Kijowski, quadruplet son of Andrew and Lisa (Puentes) Kijowski of Sycamore, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Rockford Memorial Hospital shortly after his birth, thus, becoming a guardian angel to the sister and two brothers who were not born for another five and a half weeks.
Jacob, a precious gift from God, is survived by his parents, Andrew and Lisa Kijowski of Sycamore; two sisters, Ashley Elizabeth and Cassandra Sue; two brothers, Nicholas Ray and Zachary Alexander; maternal grandparents, Ray and Kathy Puentes of Sycamore; paternal grandparents, Karen Kijowski (Alex Toth) and Paul and Stella Kijowski, all of Freeport; an uncle, Chris (Zu) Puentes of Sycamore; a first cousin, Kayla Puentes of Sycamore; and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at The Church of St. Mary in Sycamore with the Rev. Fr. Frank John Timar, MSC, celebrating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
