RITA DUGAN BAUMGARTNER
Rita Dugan Baumgartner, 82, of Sheboygan, Wis., passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003.
She is survived by five children; a brother, Thomas Dugan; and a sister, Frances Dugan Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mary Ann Dugan; her husband, Gordon Baumgartner; a sister, Mary Dugan Anglin; and three brothers, Bernard, Martin and Charles Dugan.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at St. Clements Church in Sheboygan, Wis.

MARY ELLA KALLEMBACH
Mary Ella Kallembach, 87, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born Jan. 31, 1916, in Bellflower, she was the daughter of Walter and Louise (Bailey) Oldham. Mary Ella married Kenneth E. Kallembach on May 1, 1937, in DeKalb. She and her husband, Kenneth, farmed in DeKalb, and she later was employed at General Electric in DeKalb for many years. Mary Ella was a 1934 graduate of DeKalb Township High School and was a member of the Advent Christian Church in DeKalb where she served as a deacon and was a member of various other church committees. She was a member of Gen-E-dek's Club.
She is survived by five children, Corine Smith of Sycamore, Marcia Tennison of Sycamore, Paul Kallembach of Sycamore, Bonnie Drury of DeKalb and Karen (James) Bulkey of Columbus, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; her parents; two brothers, Kelsie and George Oldham; and a great-granddaughter, Mary Christina Tennison.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. David Glick officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.
A memorial is being established for Mary Ella Kallembach in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

ALVINA CROME
Alvina F. "Vina" Crome, 82, of Bruce, Miss., formerly of Burlington, Ill., passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in Bruce.
Born Nov. 5, 1920, in Bassett, Wis., she was the daughter of Lawrence and Frieda (Bosselman) Newberry.
Vina married Victor Crome on June 21, 1941, in Woodstock and they farmed in the Burlington area until his death in 1963. She then moved to Burlington with two young children and worked at Playskool in Hampshire. She also worked as a cook at Sycamore Hospital until her retirement. Vina moved to Mississippi in 1995.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Keith) Kellum of Bruce, Victor (Pam) Crome of Davenport, Iowa, and Karen (Larry) Kramer of Genoa; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond (Ethel) Newberry of Waterford, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; a daughter, Sharen "Ann" Colby; and a great-grandson, Charles.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road in Burlington, with the Rev. Howard J. Gleason officiating. Burial will be at Burlington Township Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or to the charity of one's choice.
The Fredrick Funeral Home of Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

ARLENE REISER
Arlene A. Reiser, 87, of Burlington, Ill., passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.
Born Feb. 4, 1916, in Woodstock, she was the daughter of George and Isabelle (Johnson) Bernhardt. She was a 1933 graduate of Woodstock High School. Arlene married William C. Reiser on June 22, 1939, in Elgin and they lived in Burlington all of their married life.
Mrs. Reiser had been employed by V.J. Plastics of Burlington for more than 10 years and assisted her husband in the operation of Reiser Trucking of Burlington. Arlene retired in 1997 after 18 years as Burlington Township Clerk and served as sexton of the Burlington Township Cemeteries for more than 15 years. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Burlington and the Ladies Aid Society and the Quilters Group of the church.
She is survived by a son, William C. (Betty) Reiser Jr. of Burlington; a stepdaughter, Irene (Larry) Dodd of California; two granddaughters, Deborah (Tim) Young of Union and Diane (Bob) Bokar of Batavia; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Ashley Young; and a sister, Margery Piska of Woodstock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, on April 6, 1964; and a brother, Walter Bernhardt.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road in Burlington, with Pastor Howard J. Gleason officiating. Burial will be at Burlington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church.

RUTH JACOBSON
Ruth E. (O'Donnell) Jacobson, 94, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Oak Crest Health Center in DeKalb.
Born Dec. 18, 1908, she was the daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Minnegan) O'Donnell and was the sole survivor of eight siblings, Walter, Thomas, Charles, Alice (Herrmann), Margaret (Herrmann), Helen (Schuh) and Evelyn (Walter).
She lived her entire life in the DeKalb area, attending DeKalb schools and Northern Illinois Teachers College. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the Lee area for several years.
On Sept. 22, 1934, she married Adrian Jacobson, and spent her life nurturing her husband and family together. They built a contracting firm, which later became Johnson and Jacobson General Contractors and went on to build several Northern Illinois University buildings -- but her family remained the focal point of her entire life.
She is survived by four children, daughter Pat (Bernie) Elsner, son Paul (Sally) Jacobson, daughter Adrienne (Mike) Hennigan and son John Jacobson; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian.
The family invites all to join them in celebrating her life at a visitation from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at First Lutheran Church in DeKalb.
A memorial is being established for the Employment Education Fund at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center.

MATTHEW WARD
Matthew Jacob Ward, 21, of Sycamore, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, as a result of a car accident near Elko, Nev.
Matthew was born July 1, 1982, in Sycamore and was raised mainly in Sycamore. He was surrounded by friends and family who now miss his laugh and regret his risk-taking. Matt had been busy being his Mom's "landscaper" this summer, working outside before heading into fall and a "real job." Matthew was caring and gentle with all animals and small children. He will be deeply missed by the family dog, Rose. Matt was finding his way slowly toward manhood, a work in progress. Now he is in God's hands to finish.
He is survived by his father, William J. Ward of La Porte, Ind.; his mother and stepfather, Malissa Marsden and Bradley Rasmussen of Sycamore; his siblings, Jessica Ward of DeKalb, Jena (George) Coulter of Anchorage, Alaska, and Daniel Ward of DeKalb; a foster sister, Paulina Piejko; a nephew, Olek Piejko of DeKalb; his grandparents, Virginia Ward of La Porte and Wayne and Annette Rasmussen of Coloma, Wis.; great-grandmother, Evelyn Rasmussen of Tucson, Ariz.; aunts and uncles, Patti and Don Dotson, Sandi and Bill Keller of La Porte; Tim and Pattie Ward of Athens, Mich., Peggy Fetzer of New York, Madonna Sivwright, Michele Marsden and Vince Walker, all of Sycamore, Patrick Marsden of Madison, Wis., Magdalene and Doyle Lang of Rochelle, James and Sue Marsden of Prairie du Sac, Wis., Maria and Scott Grewe of Waukesha, Wis., Sally and Bob Combs of North Bend, Wash., and Darin and Bernadette Rasmussen of Palatine; first cousins, Andrew, Abigail and Hannah Sivwright, Natalie Walker, Rachel and Ian Marsden, Alex, Jonathan and Melanie Lang, Josh, Zach, Ben and Michael Kathryn Marsden, Jacob and Jerad Grewe, Aran Murphy, Anna Mary and Elenor Ray Scott, Sinclair Combs, Sean and Michael Rasmussen, Sean and Patty Tomei, Christopher Tomei, Lindsey and Sean Keller, Jennifer and Donald Dotson and Ryan, Rachel and Jordan Ward.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Mary Marsden, and Roger Ward; uncles, Michael R. z Marsden, Robert Sivwright; and cousin, Margaret Murphy. May Matt find peace with his family in Heaven.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at The Church of Saint Mary, 244 Waterman St. in Sycamore, with the Rev. Frank J. Timar, M.S.C. celebrating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.
A memorial fund is established in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.

JESSE PENNIMAN
Jesse K. Penniman, 18, of Sycamore, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in a single-car auto accident near Elko, Nev.
Born July 3, 1985, in Phoenix, Ariz., he was the son of Frank F. and Jodi M. (Petersen) Penniman.
Jesse was a 2003 graduate of Sycamore High School. He loved his parents, his brother and his many, many friends. He enjoyed music and had an interest in radio broadcasting.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Jodi; a brother, Frank James Penniman; two grandparents, Richard and JoAnn Petersen of Exira, Iowa; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by two grandparents, an aunt, an uncle and two cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Dan B. Stoval of Sycamore Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.

DANIEL CLIFFE
Daniel L. Cliffe, 84, of DeKalb, Ill., died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at his home.
Born Feb. 25, 1919, in Sycamore, he was the son of James W. and Helen (Parkins) Cliffe. He married Hildur Friedlund on Dec. 1, 1944, in Alliance, Neb.
Dan was a retired attorney, having practiced law in DeKalb County from February 1949 until his retirement in 1984. He attended Northern Illinois University and graduated from Kent College of Law in February 1949. He served in various offices in DeKalb County, including as the public defender, DeKalb County zoning officer, president of the DeKalb County Bar Association, justice of the peace in Shabbona and past commander of the Shabbona American Legion Post 677. He began practicing law as a sole practitioner, and in September 1963 formed the law firm of Leifheit and Cliffe, now known as Cliffe, Foster, Corneille and Buick. Dan was instrumental in the founding of Indian Oaks Country Club in Shabbona and served as the village attorney for the village of Shabbona for many years. He especially enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Dan was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army from April 1941 until November 1945.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sue Cliffe of Belvidere; a daughter, Helen Lowe; a grandson, Joshua Cliffe of Belvidere; and a brother, Francis Cliffe of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hildur, on March 1, 1994; his parents; two brothers, Thomas W. Cliffe and James W. Cliffe; and three sisters, Margaret Rydell, Isabelle Mooney and Lillian Ferrell.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Jacobson Funeral Home in Shabbona, with the Rev. Jeff Coester, minister of the First Baptist Church in Shabbona, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shabbona. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for DeKalb County Hospice.

ROBERT HENIGAN
Robert Emmett Henigan, 86, of DeKalb, Ill., and formally of Sycamore, died Saturday, August 23, 2003, at the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born May 13, 1917, in Sycamore, he was the son of Tom Henigan Sr. and Lila (Cornwall) Henigan. He married Ruth Catherine Svela on June 24, 1936, in Sycamore. They were married for more than 67 years. He worked for the Sycamore Police Department and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department as a policeman, and was last employed by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Henigan of DeKalb; a son, Richard (Deana) Henigan of DeKalb; two daughters, Rosalyn (Carl) Ross of Sycamore and Rogene (Gary) Montgomery of DeKalb; a brother, Tom (Marian) Henigan of Sycamore; a sister, Dorothy Roberts of Sycamore; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Henigan.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
A memorial fund is established in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
