ERMAN E. 'WINK' SCHAIRER
Erman E. "Wink" Schairer, 62, of El Paso, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, as the result of an accident in McLean County that occurred while he was running.
Born June 7, 1942, in Sycamore, he was the son of Louis and M. Jean (Lieving) Schairer. He married Sandra J. Penning on Sept. 4, 1965, in Alton.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy; two daughters, Cynthia J. (Paul Kessler) Schairer of El Paso and Sara J. (Jeremy) Holly of San Diego, Calif.; a son Steven E. Schairer of San Diego; a brother, Louis E. (Sherry) Schairer of Fox River Grove; two sisters, Kay (Roger) Jacobson of Sycamore and Julie (Philip) Snave of Crystal Lake; and a brother-in-law, Jim Andersen of Riggsville, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marilou Schairer and Karen Andersen.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso, with the Rev. Dale Beck and the Rev. Wes Ooms officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.

SPC. JUSTIN W. LINDEN
Spc. Justin W. Linden, June 26, 1981 - June 4, 2004, died while serving his country in Iraq.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, of Portland, Ore.; his mother, Donna Beckman of Elkhorn, Wis.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Aska of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his father, Wayne Linden of Clinton, Wis.; three brothers; and his paternal grandfather, Einar M. Linden of DeKalb, Ill.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at The First Baptist Church of Clinton, Wis.

Arthur J. Klosa Jr., 72, of Fairdale, Ill., formerly of Freeport, loving husband of Jackie, nee Richardson, died May 28, 2004, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Kirkland Fire Station, with a memorial visitation from 4-7:30 p.m.

ARTHUR W. KOSHMIDER SR.
Arthur William Koshmider Sr., 79, of Yorkville, Ill., formerly of Lake Holiday in Somonauk, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Hillside Care Center in Yorkville.
Arthur was born May 30, 1925, in Chicago. He married Karen Lancaster on Feb. 14, 1976, in DeKalb; she preceded him in death on July 21, 1997.
Arthur was employed by Ideal Co. in Chicago. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in DeKalb. Arthur spent 21 years at Lake Holiday in Somonauk before moving to Hillside Care Center in Yorkville.
He is survived by three sons, Arthur W. (Barbara) Koshmider Jr. of Midlothian, and Paul (Jeanine) Koshmider and Edward (Erlinda) Koshmider, both of California; a stepson, William D. Lancaster of Michigan; a stepdaughter, Lauryce Lancaster of Chicago; and a niece, Cindy (Dennis) Ramer of Sycamore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and a son, Warren.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, with Elder Roger Hintzsche and Elder Cindy Ramer of Community of Christ Church in DeKalb officiating.
Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.

PAUL F. BRAUCHER
Paul Ford Braucher, 49, of New York, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at LaGrange Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born June 25, 1954, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Daniel E. and Virginia E. (Ford) Braucher.
Paul was a gifted musician and artist. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Knox College in Galesburg and his Master of Fine Arts from Queens College in New York.
Paul, formerly of LaGrange, resided in New York City for the last 20 years. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and cousin who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Virginia Braucher of Willowbrook; a brother, Steve Braucher of Willowbrook; three sisters, Liza (Ken) Benjamin of Westmont, Victoria (Brian) Braucher of Evanston and Carolyn (Tom) Scheele of DeKalb; and seven nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at Kensington and Elm streets in LaGrange. Interment will be private.

MARILYN MAE PAULSON
Marilyn Mae Paulson, 72, of Rochelle, Ill., formerly of Esmond, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Rochelle Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Knoxville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Edwin and Iva (Salsberry) Harding.
She was a 1949 graduate of Sycamore High School. She married Donald Paulson on June 12, 1949, at Sycamore Methodist Church.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant for DeKalb Public Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in DeKalb. She also was a partner with her husband in Paulson Construction Co. They also owned and managed several rental properties. She volunteered at the DeKalb County Nursing Home and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member and former officer of the DeKalb Ladies of the Moose and the Eagle's Lodge in DeKalb. She and her husband loved to dance and to roller skate.
She is survived by a daughter, Candie (Doug) Brock of DeKalb; a son, Robert (Theresa) Paulson of Creston; six grandchildren, David and Katherine Paulson, Jason (Shelley) Brock, Tena (Michael) Callahan, Michael Brock and Andrea Brock; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jacob Brock, Kenney Hallam Jr., Caitlin Callahan and Hailey Brock; four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Harding of DeKalb, Mavis Sink and Arvada Kindstrom, both of Orlando, Fla., and Juanita Estock of Villa Park; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Edwin "Red" Harding; a sister, Geraldine; and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Brock.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the funeral home.

SHARON R. 'BECKY' ENGEL
Sharon R. "Becky" Engel, 66, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Pine Acres Care Center in DeKalb.
Born Jan. 14, 1938, in Aurora, she was the daughter of Edward O. and Cleo A. (Price) Freundt.
Becky was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Hinckley. She worked for many years as a beautician in the DeKalb area. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and cousin who will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her mother, Cleo A. Freundt of DeKalb; a sister, Mary Jo Breese of DeKalb; a nephew, Ronald Lee Breese Jr. of DeKalb; her dear friend, Alice Fairley of Sycamore; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Edward O. Freundt, on April 6, 1986; and a brother, Edward H. Freundt, on June 6, 1997.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel at 141 N. Maple in Hinckley, with the Rev. Fay Quanstrom officiating. Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the memorial chapel.

DWAYNE L. KLOTZ
Dwayne L. Klotz, 48, of Sandwich, Ill., passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at home.
Born June 2, 1956, in Sycamore, he was the son of Sheldon and Pearl Klotz.
He is survived by a sister, Gayle (Bill) Turner of Waterman; two brothers, Dale (Brenda) Klotz and Roland Klotz, both of Sandwich; three nieces, Megan Raet, Erin Jones and Heather Klotz; and a nephew, Shane Surratt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sheldon, in 1991; his mother, Pearl, in 1975; and a brother, Robert, in 1975.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich. Private services and committal will be held at a later date.
MICHAEL J. SHOVE
Michael J. Shove, 60, of Somonauk, Ill., passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.
Born May 26, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of William G. and Marie (Ouelette) Shove. He married Helen Gray on May 26, 1964, in Royal Oak, Mich.
Michael was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a proud member of the Marine Corps League of DeKalb County and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Somonauk; two sons, Michael W. Shove of Somonauk and Todd G. (Jodi) Shove of Elgin; a grandson, Jacob Shove of Elgin; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Fournier of Shelby, Mich.; and a brother, John (Babette) Shove of Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bud Shove; and three sisters, Joan Reyes, Jenny Slayton and Lucille Garr.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, with Father Donald D. DeSalvo officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Turner Funeral Home, 13160 Route 34, Somonauk, IL 60552, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

ARTHUR O. 'BUD' BENSON
Arthur O. "Bud" Benson, 96, formerly of Lee, Ill., passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Shabbona Healthcare Center.
Born March 5, 1908, in Rollo, he was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Olson) Benson.
Bud spent his early years in the Rollo area and then moved with the family to a farm southwest of Shabbona around 1920. He was a 1925 graduate of Shabbona High School. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Chicago and worked for Continental Bank until 1930 when he returned to the family farm. On Dec. 15, 1934, Bud married Esther Cofield in the Shabbona Congregational Church parsonage. They moved to the Cofield farm and lived there until the house burned in 1966, when they built a house in Lee. Retiring from farming in 1972, Bud and Esther spent the next 20 winters at their home in Florida. When Esther's health failed, they spent all their time in their Lee home. Bud lived at Barb City Manor in DeKalb off and on for several years after Esther's death.
Bud was a member of Shabbona Masonic Lodge 374 for 73 years and also was a member of Lee Methodist Church until it closed. He then transferred his membership to Steward Methodist Church.
Over Bud's long life, he left a legacy as a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. His family and friends were his life.
He is survived by a daughter, Jackie (Eilert) Goken of Shabbona; a son, Richard (Joan) Benson of Washington, Ill.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, on Jan. 21, 1994; two brothers, Bennie and Ted; and eight sisters, Emma Reynolds, Minnie Renwick, Mary McGraham, Bess Jorgesen, Jennie Firkins, Lillian Thorsen, Elvira Best and Evelyn Kittle.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Shabbona United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Judy Sherk of Steward Methodist Church and the Rev. Irene Pouliot of Shabbona United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shabbona. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
A memorial is being established.

PATRICIA (REDMOND) VORDA
Patricia (Redmond) Vorda, 81, of Sugar Land, Texas, died Monday, June 14, 2004, in Sugar Land.
Born July 2, 1922, in Waterman, Ill., she was the daughter of Allan Redmond and Ruth V. (Harrington) Redmond. Pat graduated as salutatorian from Shabbona High School in Shabbona and received a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 1944. While at Northwestern, she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and a beauty queen. In 1945, she married Charles F. Vorda, with whom she had three children. The family moved in 1968 from Omaha, Neb., to Houston, where she owned a secretarial business from 1970 to 1990. Pat was a member of Riverbend Country Club, St. Laurence Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by three children, Allan R. Vorda, Brian E. Vorda and Patty V. Robinson; and grandchildren including Shawn Vorda, Alana Vorda, Marianne Thai, Ryan Vorda, Curtis Vorda, Tricia Robinson and Ryan Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Vorda, on Aug. 3, 2002; and a brother, Harrington Redmond.
The funeral liturgy was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, with the Rev. Phi Thanh Nguyen officiating. A private Rite of Committal will be held at Memorial Mission Mausoleum at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077.

INEZ W. LARSEN
Inez W. Larsen, 83, of Princeton, Ill., formerly of Hinckley, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Born July 27, 1920, in Little Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of Asa and Bertha (Johnson) Wade.
Inez was married to William Parker, the father of her four children, Christine, Betty, Jerry and Barbara, and they spent many happy years together until his passing. She then was united in marriage to Lonnie Larsen until his passing in 1983. Inez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Inez was a member of Hinckley First United Methodist Church. She was employed by AT&T in Montgomery. Inez enjoyed several hobbies, including reading, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by four children, Christine Hampton of Montgomery, Betty (Ralph) Combs of Princeton, Jerry (Carol) Parker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Barbara (Paul) Wiezorck of Washington, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Wade of Rockford; two sisters, Margaret Beck of Denver, Colo., and Faye (Lon) Shular of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Bertha Wade; her husbands, William Parker and Lonnie Larsen; three brothers; and a sister.
Private services for Mrs. Larsen will be held for family and friends. Interment will take place at Blackberry Cemetery in Elburn.
