Betty Ann Bohac McGurk
Age 60, formerly of Braidwood, late of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2001 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. born October 9, 1940 in Joliet.
Betty was employed as Food Service Manager at the St. Francis Convent in Joliet, where she enjoyed the nuns and gave them tender loving care. She previously managed the cafeteria at the Commonwealth Edison Training Center in Braidwood where she was known as "Aunt B." She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and her dogs, Skeeter and Bailey.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Strohm of South Wilmington and Theresa McGurk of Joliet; two sons, Mark McGurk of South Wilmington and Michael McGurk of Joliet; her mother, Rae Bohac of Braidwood; three sisters, Rosa Lee (Robert) Wicks of Braidwood, Judy (Carleton) Bergere of Chicago and Mary Ellen (William) Eller of Custer Park, IL; two brothers, John (Patti) Bohac and Neil (Brenda) Bohac both of Braidwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Evan L. McGurk; father, George Bohac Sr.,; two brothers, George Bohac Jr. and Charles Bohac and an infant sister, Margaret Bohac.
Funeral services will be held from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, LTD, Braidwood Chapel, Monday, January 22 at 9:30 a.m. to the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Bondi officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood, IL.
Visitation Sunday, January 21, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Helen Mae Petrinos nee Carr
Age 85. Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Born in Newton, MS and a longtime Joliet area resident. Retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in 1977 following 25 years of service.
Surviving are two daughters, Christy (Larry) Bailey of Joliet and Carla (Dale) Kadlecek of Coral Springs, FL; four grandchildren, Sandy Bailey, Jennifer (Tim) McFarland, Eric and Mark Kadlecek; two great-grandchildren, Steven and Amber McFarland; her dear friend, Anna. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her husband, Andrew.
Funeral services for Helen Mae Petrinos will be Saturday, January 20, 2001, 11 AM at the West Chapel. Rev. William Ward officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials in her memory to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Visitation Saturday morning 9:30 AM until time of service at:

Marilyn T. Relyea (nee Plitt)
Age 73 of Joliet, Illinois, left this world to meet the Lord in heaven, on January 19, 2001, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center with all her family by her side.
She was a lifelong resident of Joliet, Illinois. She worked at Pershing School as the best Lunchroom Grandma and will be missed by all the staff and children.
She was the love of my life, wife and best friend. She was the greatest mother that ten children could ever love and know. The world's best grandmother of 27 grandchildren. And special sister to her sisters and brother.
Beloved wife of 50 years George T. Relyea. The Greatest Mother of ten children, Thomas (Yolanda) Relyea, Theresa (Peter) Froeliger, Nancy (Bob) Flake, Richard Relyea, James (Tammy) Relyea, Maureen (George) Marconi, Diane (David) Matichak, George J. (Laura) Relyea, Beverly (Paul) Gabriel, and Patricia (Thomas) Flanagan.
The most wonderful grandmother of 27, Stephen (Sandi), Tony (Tracy) and Christopher Taranto, Michael Relyea, Bobby, Patrick, Christopher and Jeanette Flake, Jennifer, Lauren, and Connor Relyea, Corrine, Cayla, Joey, Matthew, and Nicky Marconi, Derrek, Matthew, Garrett and Hannah Matichak, Josh and Katie Brazeal, Jordan and Kelsey Relyea, Aubrey and Marilyn Gabriel and Andrew Flanagan; sister of Catherine Jean (Bill) Blackburn, Mary (Bill) Bambic, and Janice (Martin) Mackay; brother of William (the late Doris) Plitt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mom's best buddy Bear Bear.
Preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Jeannette (nee Milligan) Plitt.
Marilyn, Mom, and Grandma thank you for a wonderful, loving and fun life, we will greatly miss you. We love you.

William Thomas Robinson
Passed away Monday, January 15, 2001 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. He was born on April 25, 1932 in Wisner, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Fannie (Holmes) Robinson.
He moved to Joliet in the early sixties and become a Construction Laborer for P.T. Ferro and other companies. In 1972 he became a Grounds Keeper for Lewis University. He retired from Lewis University in April, 2000. His remaining months were spent exploring his love of music and visiting with friends and family.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Doris; six sons and step-sons, Gaye Robinson, Monroe, LA, Hillery D. and Kevin T. Robinson, Alexandria, LA, Lee Kincy, South Bend, IN, George Kincy, Charles Gross, Joliet, IL; and 5 daughters and step-daughters, Linda Gross, Connissa Gross and Tomeka (Jonathan) Elmore, Joliet, IL, Michelle and Sheila Robinson, Alexandria, LA; one brother, H.P. Robinson, Shreveport, LA; two sisters, Wanda (Henry) Bynum, Monroe, LA; and Esterr (Melvin, Sr.) Boykin, Joliet, IL; 25 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services for William T. Robinson are: Monday, January 22, 2001. Wake 2-4 PM at Minor Funeral Home, and 6-7 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. Richard House officiating. The funeral will begin at 7:00 PM. Interment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Lemont, IL, 10:00 AM Tuesday. Minor-Morris Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sister M. Barbara Scholtes, O.S.F.
Age 92, died January 16 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet, Illinois.
Born in Joliet, Illinois, Sister Barbara was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, Joliet, IL., for 70 years. She is the beloved sister of William (Dorothy) Scholtes of Joliet, sister-in-law Gladys (Henry deceased) Scholtes and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister Barbara's cousins include Sister Rosemary Fonck, O.S.F. also a member of her Congregation and Rev. Benet Fonck, a Franciscan priest.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nicholas and Barbara (Fonck) Scholtes; sisters baby Catherine Scholtes, Catherine (George) Korell and Agnes (John) Lawnzak; brothers Ferdinand (Mary) Scholtes, Nicholas (Josephine) Scholtes, Jr., Peter (Virginia) Scholtes, August (Anna Mae), Henry Scholtes, and baby Joseph Scholtes.
Maria Johanna, as she was baptized, was received into the Franciscan Congregation in 1930 and received the name Sister Mary Barbara. She dedicated most of her religious years in the Congregation to elementary and junior high education, touching the lives of many families in the Joliet area, and parishes in Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania. In Joliet, Sister tutored at the St. Peter Claver Center from 1971-1975 and taught students at Holy Family from 1980-1983. She retired to St. Francis Academy in 1983 to 1990 until St. Francis Academy became Joliet Catholic Academy in 1990. She then retired to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet.
Sister Barbara Scholtes' wake will be held at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL., (Rte. 30 and Wyoming Avenue) on Friday, January 19 from 2-7 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 4:30 P.M. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 P.M..
Burial will be from Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home at 9:30 am on Saturday, January 20 to her family's section in St. John's Cemetery on Ruby Street in Joliet, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, 520 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL. 60435.

Gordon Francis Schopp
Age 74, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001 at his residence in Gardner, IL. born July 12, 1926, in Pontiac, IL. The son of the late Marjorie (Duffy) and Ersel Schopp.
Mr. Schopp was a 48 year member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #50 and #265. Gordon was a member of the American Legion Post #663 of Gardner and a Veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. A 45 year resident of Gardner, he served on the High School Board for nine years; he was a former member of the Gardner Lions; and also a village commissioner. Gordon was a very civic-minded person who took great pride in caring for and beautifying the downtown Lion Park across from his home. A longtime member of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Assoc. Inc., Gordon was an avid collector of antique tools.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Ida M. (Burke) Schopp, of Chenoa, IL; one sister, Genevieve C. Findley of Bloomington, IL; two sons, Gordon E. (Holli) Schopp of Meeker, CO, Duane F. (Kay) Schopp of Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Evelyn M. (Dan) Jerbi of Gardner, IL, and Kathryn I. (Mike) Fredrick of rural Dwight, IL; four grandsons, Philip D. (Kathy) Jerbi of Genoa, IL, Lt. MatthewJ. (Kerenza) Jerbi of Monterrey, CA, Don J. Schopp of Cheyenne, WY, and Ryan G. Schopp of Meeker, CO; four granddaughters,, Michele K. (Doug) Brewick of Kinsman, IL, Kristina M. Opyd of Normal, IL, Sunrise S. (Travis) Bell of Missoula, MT, and Karey A. (Rex) Thomas of Meeker, CO; one great-granson, Jaren M. Brewick of Kinsman, IL, and another great-grandchild due this year; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and one son, Gordon F. Schopp, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 22nd, at the Gardner Funeral Home in Gardner, IL, the Rev. Joe Riggi will officiate. Visitation will be at the Gardner Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Braceville - Gardner Cemetery in Braceville, IL. Memorial remembrances shall be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 335 W. Jefferson, Joliet, IL 60435.

Edward J. Shay
Age 77, resident of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, January 17 at Community Hospital of Ottawa. He was born April 25, 1923 in Joliet, Illinois to Anthony and Josephine (Zarnowski) Czajkowski. He was employed by Unocal in Joliet until his retirement. He served in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the Joliet American Legion Post #1080.
Survivors include his companion, Mary Andreatta of Marseilles; one son, Edward, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy of New Lenox, and Delores of Joliet.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; and one brother, Ray.
Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles was in charge of arrangements.

Attorney Robert Walsh Thomas
Age 94, a prominent Joliet attorney for over fifty years, active in many civic and charitable organizations, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001 at his home in Joliet.
Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1924; Lake Forest College Class of 1928 and Harvard Law School Class of 1931. After being admitted to the Illinois State Bar Association in 1931, Mr. Thomas began practicing law in Will County. At his retirement, he was senior partner of Thomas, Wallace, Feehan and Baron. Mr. Thomas is a past-president of the Will County Bar Association, the Joliet-Will County Community Chest and Kiwanis Club of Joliet. He was also Chairman of the Board of the Joliet Mass Transit Authority and the first layman to be Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of St. Francis.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Walsh) Bruning and stepfather, Ben P. Bruning, both of Joliet.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annabelle (Mahon); originally of Springfield, IL; a daughter, Ann (Bodach) and a son-in-law, Robert C. Bodach of Joliet; and son, Robert M. Thomas and daughter-in-law, Barbara (Giugliano) of Highland Park, IL; as well as four grandchildren, Robert Bodach, Ann Bodach, Michael Bodach and Alexandra Thomas.
Funeral services for Robert W. Thomas will be Saturday, January 20, 2001 at 10:30 AM from the West Chapel to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Private entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation SATURDAY MORNING 9:30 AM until time of services at 10:30 AM at:
