Age 90. Passed away February 4, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Waite was a Joliet Fireman, retiring in 1973 as a Captain.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene and his parents.
He is survived by his sister Virginia Schamihorn, and his sister-in-law Dee (Vaughn) Pennington.
A private interment took place at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to:

Mae Della McElrath
Born March 2, 1926 in Joliet, IL to Sirderie Clark and Sam Gray Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church where she served as a faithful usher until her health failed. She went to join our Lord and Savior on February 7, 2004 at Silver Cross Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sirderie (Horace) Clark, and Sam Gray Sr.; husband, Mitchell McElrath; stepson, Robert Corpening; four brothers, James, John, Carl and Horace Clark; two sisters, Elizabeth Morris and Dorothy Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter, Lorace McElrath; grandson, Michael McElrath; goddaughter, Brenda Peterson of Gary, IN; brother, Sam (Evelyn) Gray of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Carmella Johnson, Glenna Easley, Isabelle (Webster) Voss and Kosyle Carr; three sisters-in-law, Mattie and Annie Clark of Joliet and Judy Bryant of Riley, NC; cousins, Dorothy Bogard and Janice Allgood of Harvey, IL; two special nephews, Troy McElrath and Louie Corpening; a very special niece, Lucille Corpening and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home and 7-8 p.m. at Mt. Olive M.B. Church, 1710 Carey St., Joliet, IL. Service at 8:00 p.m., Pastor Hector Edwards, officiating. Interment Friday, February 13, 2004, 10 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Virginia M. "Ginny" Meier
(nee Sandberg)
Passed away at her residence, Monday, February 9, 2004. Age 86 years.
Survived by two daughters Ginnie Kay (Rev. John M.) Weber, Linda S. (Dr. Ronald S.) Heinlen and a son Fred W. "Ted" (Kathy) Meier. Four grandchildren Brent (Renae) Weber, Britt Weber, John Heinlen and Kurt (Julie) Heinlen. Two great-grandsons Skyler and Brody Weber. Her cousins Russell and Leroy Anderson, several nieces, nephews, friends and her caregiver Nina Brazhnyk.
Preceded in death by her husband Fred W. Meier (1992), her parents Axel and Hulda Sandberg, a grandson Bradley Meier, her brother Paul E. (Ruby Anne) Sandberg and her sister Sylvia (Richard) Carlson.
Retired from Joliet Township High School West Campus where she was a secretary for many years. Lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, participating in many church activities including the Alter Guilt, and Patience Circle and the Quilters Group. Graduate of Joliet Township High School class of 1934.
Lying in state at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Thursday, February 12, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Rodney A. Juell and Rev. John M. Weber officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Wednesday from 3-7 p.m.

Angela M. (Mosele) Mikus
Age 91, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at Sunnyhill Nursing Center. Late of Lockport.
Survived by a daughter, Nancy J. Moody; three grandchildren, William A. (Shirley) Moody Jr., Glen A. (Jannine) Moody and Daniel A. Moody; three great grandchildren, G. Andrew, Garrett and Desiree Moody; and a sister-in-law, Helen Mosele.
She was born in Lockport and lived in the area all her life. Mrs. Mikus was employed by Argonne National Lab, Lewis University and retired as manager of Weber Dairy Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew F. Mikus; two sisters; and a brother.
Private services and visitation will be held. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.

Age 93, died February 8, 2004 at her residence in Lady Lake, Florida.
Survived by three sons, Richard, Donald (Marlene) Ross and Thomas (Janet) Ross all of Lady Lake, Florida; three grandchildren, Holly Rardin, Steve (Debbie) Ross and Kevin Ross; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Michael, Christin, and Travis; one sister, Helen Hayducak-Mackay of Minooka, Illinois; one brother, John (Evelyn) Gawenda of Ocala, Florida; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Josephine (Redlak) Gaweda, first husband, Frank Ross (1950), second husband, Howard Markgraf (1968), and four brothers, Chester, Charles, Walter & Henry Gawenda.
Born in Joliet, Illinois where she lived until moving to Florida in 1990. She enjoyed dancing at the Slovenian Home and the Knights of Columbus in Joliet, Illinois. With her husband Frank, they operated the Lidice Theatre & Majestic Theatre in the 1930's and 1940's. Her greatest treasure in life was her family.
Funeral Services will be held at the Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake, Florida Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, Florida. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

David E. Stirbis
Age 62. Passed away unexpectedly at his home in Joliet on Monday, February 9, 2004. born October 25, 1941 in Joliet and a lifetime resident. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. Retired from Laborers Union Local #75 after 40 years of service. Member of the Joliet Pigeon Club, Joliet Elks Lodge #296 and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. An avid baseball player and sports enthusiast, Dave was also a year round fisherman.
Beloved husband of 13 years to Angela (nee Mikula); loving father of Kammiroen and Chayancze Stirbis; devoted son of Margaret (nee Ftacek) and the late William Stirbis; dear brother of Peggy Stewart, Sharron Stirbis, Cheryl Stirbis and Billy (Val) Stirbis; fond son-in-law of John and Sharon Mikula; Maureen and Leonard Fioritto. Dave was also a loving brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and cousin to many.
Funeral services for David E. Stirbis will be Friday, February 13, 2004 at 9:15 AM from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Age 71. Passed on Friday, February 6, 2004 at Rush-Copley Medical Center.
Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary (Cizmar); three daughters, Jeannie (Tony) Flannery of Minooka, IL, Kathy Terry of Plainfield Dr. Lilly (Dr. Peter) Swiersz of Palo Alto, CA; six grandchildren, Dr. Karen (Erin) Flannery of West Palm Beach, FL, Lauren Flannery of Minooka, IL, Michael (Amy) Terry, Jill (Steve) Huddlestun of Plainfield, IL, Christopher and Julia Maguire of Palo Alto, CA; three great-grandchilden, James and Henry Terry, Jacob Huddlestun; one brother Stanley (late Vernice) Swiersz of Joliet, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Albert and Agnes Swiersz; three brothers, Louis and Joseph Swiersz, Reverend Anthony E. Swiersz, four sisters, Caroline (Walter) Pomykala, Catherine and Mary Swiersz, Viola (Stanley) Stempine.
Born in Joliet, lifelong resident, served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. Was employed by Commonwealth Edison for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was an avid fisherman, artist, and played multiple musical instruments.

William Granville Fox
William Granville Fox, affectionately known as Bill, died in Hot Springs, AR January 31, 2003. He was born in Watseka, IL November 18, 1916, the youngest child of Clarence W. Fox and Ethel M. Julian. He was a member of the R.O.T.C. both in high school and at Joliet College. Shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Bill enlisted in the military, cutting short his education.
He remained in the army, rising to the rank of Captain, fighting bravely for his nation as a paratrooper in the South Pacific Rim and at New Guinea. He was also stationed in Alaska. He had hoped to make a career out of military life until he was injured in a parachute accident. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1952. He later completed his education at Purdue University.
For most of his business career, Bill was a top-producing life insurance salesman in Aurora and Elgin for companies such as the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, Mutual and United of Omaha, and Interstate Assurance Company of Des Moines, IA.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Garrison Fox, of Hot Springs, and a sister, Mabel Smith of Winnetka, CA. He is also survived by two daughters, Billie Diane Mills and husband, Thomas Menroy Mills, of Rockford, IL; Mary Candace Evans and spouse Walter F. Evans II, of Dallas, TX. He has three grandchildren, William Menroy Mills of Rockford, IL, Walter Francis Evans III and Mary Cassandra Evans of Dallas, and one great grandson, William Thomas Mills, of Rockford, IL.
Always quick with a smile and a joke, Bill warmed the hearts of everyone who met him and was a dutiful and loving father. In lieu of flowers, his family gratefully requests donations to The Humane Society in Bill's honor.

Nee: KloosAge 91, late of Chicago, Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Lemont Center. born in Chicago, lifelong Chicago area resident. Preceded in death by her husband James, a son Robert (Rose Mary, deceased), her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Survived by a granddaughter Linda (John) Bialka of Lockport, a grandson Michael (Marjean) Hawkins of Oak Lawn and a great-grandson Kevin Bialka. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Diabetes Assoc. would be appreciated.

Dr. Tim Helton
Age 62. At rest Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Silver Cross Hospital. born in Decatur, IL and a Joliet area resident since 1976. Retired Professor at Joliet Junior College in 1999 where he mentored many students. An avid fisherman and golfer.
Surviving are three children, Sherri (Dan) Potochnic of Shorewood, Steve Helton of Joliet and Holly (Jeremy) Julian of Grayslake, IL; two grandchildren, Morgan and Ryan Potochnic.
Dr. Helton donated his remains to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for the advancement of medical study. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Dr. Craig M. Herr officiating. Memorials in his memory to the wishes of the family would be appreciated. Family will receive relatives and friends SATURDAY 2:00 p.m. until time of services at:
