Arthur W. Endress
Princeville – Arthur W. Endress, 76, of Princeville, Illinois died at 12:23 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
Arthur was born on April 20, 1931, in Speer, Illinois, the son of Henry and Marie Schmitgall Endress. He married Edith Hill on January 23, 1954, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Endress, of Peoria, and Rita (Kevin) Kirk, of St. Peters, Missouri; three grandchildren, Justin, Stacey, and Drew; one brother, Sam (Dora) Endress, of Morton; and one sister, Miriam (Dan) Messerli, of Peoria. His parents, one granddaughter, two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
Arthur was a United States Marine Veteran serving during the Korean conflict and was a lifetime member of the Princeville American Legion Post #248. He was a general contractor in the Princeville area for many years.
Arthur was a charter and current member of the Princeville Lions Club where he was Past President and Past Lion Zone Chairman. He also was a Lions Melvin Jones Fellow. Arthur was a former Princeville Village Board member for 12 years. He enjoyed collecting antiques, caps, and Lion’s memorabilia. Arthur also enjoyed square dancing and camping.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, Princeville. Rev. Harry Losey officiated. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Burial was in Princeville Cemetery with military rites conducted by Princeville American Legion Post #248 and Princeville VFW Post #1255.
Memorial contributions may be made to Akron/Princeville Ambulance Service or Princeville Lions Club.

Pauline M. Seckman
Toulon – Pauline M. Seckman, 93, of Toulon, Illinois died at 1:15 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2008, at Kewanee Hospital, Kewanee, Illinois.
Pauline was born December 2, 1914, in Toulon, Stark County, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Jenny Graves Addis. She married Raymond Seckman on December 15, 1934, in Warrensburg, Illinois, and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage. He died December 3, 2005, in Kewanee.
Surviving are two sons, Leo (Barb) Seckman, of Toulon, Illinois and Dean (Dee) Seckman, of LaFayette, Illinois; one daughter, Loraine (Milan) Dexter, of Toulon, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Debra (Tim) Shane, of Wyoming., Illinois, Don (Sharon) Seckman, of Edmonds, Washington, Michael (Karen) Dexter, of Crown Point, Indiana, Michele (Rich) Hendrick, of rural Galva, Illinois, Darren (Amy) Dexter, of Toulon, Illinois, Dan (Julie) Dexter, of San Francisco, California, and David (Kim) Seckman, of Fircrest, Washington; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her parents, one sister, Lucile, and two infant siblings who died in childbirth preceded her in death.
Pauline grew up and graduated from Toulon High School in 1933. After graduation she went to business school in Kewanee. She was a housewife and helped Raymond on the farm.
Pauline was a member of the Toulon United Methodist Church, where she participated in various organizations within the church. She was a member of the Toulon Women’s Club and the Goshen Homemakers Association. Pauline enjoyed playing cards with friends and belonged to the DOZ Club and also a couples group called the Ideal Club for over 50 years. She enjoyed going on the Farm Bureau Bus Trips. Pauline and Raymond were the Old Settlers Badge Honorees for the 120th celebration in 1997.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Toulon United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Wier will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Toulon United Methodist Church or Bradford Rescue Squad.

Beulah H. Patterson
Monmouth, IL – Beulah H. Patterson, 93, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at her Monmouth residence. She was born on November 5, 1914 in Table Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph L. and Vada Strode Brown. Beulah was raised in Table Grove where she attended rural schools and high school. She then attended and graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher College in Macomb, Illinois.
She married Clarence Powers Patterson on August 20, 1939 in Fairview, Illinois. Beulah first taught elementary school in Ipava, Illinois for a time until her marriage to Clarence. They moved to Toulon, Illinois where Beulah taught as a substitute while she raised her family. In 1959 she and C.P. moved to the Monmouth area where she taught at the former Cameron School in the Warren School District for many years.
She is a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church and was active in “Icebreakers” fellowship group. She is a member and served as secretary of the Warren County Retired Teachers Association, the former Tuesday reading club, and the Monmouth Hospital and Community Hospital Auxiliaries. She served as vice president of the Warren County Heart Association. Beulah is also a member of the Crimson Clan of Monmouth College. She enjoyed antiques and traveling.
Her family and their music has been Beulah’s life. Beulah and C.P. meticulously enjoyed their home, their yard and their flower garden.
Surviving are her husband, C.P. Patterson, of Monmouth; two daughters, Janet of St. Louis and Joyce of Frankfort, Illinois; two grandsons, Jared and Derek; two sisters, Thelma Lane, of Moline, Illinois and Melba Stone, of Fairview, Illinois; one brother, Gerald Brown, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; three loving care givers, Shirley Dehle, Janice Hart and Doris Tatman, all of Monmouth.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one grandson, Eric; two sisters, Onita Long and Ester Wright; and one brother, Victor Brown.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth. Interment was in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. A memorial fund has been established for either the Clarence P. or Beulah Brown Patterson Scholarship at Monmouth College or Faith United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Illinois. Turnbull Funeral Home is in charge or arrangements.

Margaret F. Shane
Monica – Margaret F. Shane, 85, of Monica, Illinois died at 2:34 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
Margaret was born on November 16, 1922, in Monica, Illinois, the daughter of Ray H. and Myrtle Smith Belford. She married Ralph L. Shane on May 20, 1945, in Princeville, Illinois. He died June 27, 2006, in Peru, Illinois.
Surviving are three sons, Robert (Geri) Shane, of East Peoria, Illinois, Richard (Debbie) Shane and Frederick (Laura) Shane, both of Peoria, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Jane Streitmatter, of Wyoming., Illinois. Her parents, one brother, Gerald G. Belford, and one nephew, Don Streitmatter preceded her in death.
Margaret first worked at USDA in Washington D.C. during World War II. She then worked at Auto-Owners Insurance, Peoria, and last working at Great Central Insurance, Peoria, until retiring. She was a member of the Monica United Methodist Church and its Happy Hour Women’s Club.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Visitation was from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. Burial was in Princeville Cemetery, Princeville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Monica United Methodist Church or Akron-Princeville Ambulance.

Kenneth O. McGarvey
Wyoming. – Kenneth O. McGarvey, 89, formerly of Wyoming., Illinois, died at 9:48 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Toulon, Illinois where he was a resident.
Kenneth was born on May 29, 1918, in Wyoming., Illinois, the son of Wilbert and Elizabeth Gansen McGarvey. He married Mary Shane on November 22, 1941, in Wyoming.. She died August 28, 1998, in Kewanee, Illinois.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (Betty) McGarvey, of Dunlap, Illinois, Stephen McGarvey, of Kewanee, Illinois, and David McGarvey, of Wyoming., Illinois; one daughter, Joyce (Larry) Dresch, of LaFayette, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack McGarvey, of Wyoming., Illinois. His parents, one daughter, Mary Ann McGarvey, three sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.
Kenneth was a farmer in the Wyoming. area his entire life. He also was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming., Illinois.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming.. Monsignor Richard Soseman officiated. Visitation was from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Wyoming. Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Dominic’s Cemetery, Wyoming..
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Virginia B. Thompson
Toulon – Virginia Bernice Thompson, 66, of Toulon, Illinois passed away at 10:12 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the home of her son, David.
She was born on February 13, 1942, the daughter of William and Bessie Parrott. She married Curtis Thompson on March 11, 1959. He died on June 6, 2008.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, Terise Price of California; two sons, Curtis Thompson, Jr. of Texas and David Thompson, of Springfield, Illinois; a sister, Fran Hackwith, of Toulon, Illinois; two brothers, William Parrott, Jr. of Toulon, Illinois and Steve Parrott, of Princeville, Illinois.
Virginia was educated in Toulon schools and lived in Toulon all of her life. She was a bus driver for Toulon school district and later Stark County school district for many years.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 at West Jersey United Methodist Church. Cremation will be accorded.
Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.
