KNOXVILLE - Beverly Brittingham, 75, Knoxville, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville.

Robert G. Stodgel
January 30, 2005
ELMWOOD - Robert G. Stodgel, 72, 803 W. Main St., died at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) in his home of natural causes.
He was born July 12, 1932, in LaRose, the son of "O.G." and Madolyn Maahs Stodgel.
Surviving are a brother, James (and Ada) Stodgel, Elmwood; a sister, Nancy (and Jim) Self, Williamsfield; four nieces; seven nephews; and caregivers Jeanette Redshaw and Candy Cochran. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He worked as an insurance agent for American Republic and as a radio broadcaster in the Peoria area for 15 years.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Funeral was 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sharon Treptow officiating. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery, Elmore.
Memorials may be made to Elmwood Methodist Church.

Kenneth L. Wildermuth
January 31, 2005
GALVA - Kenneth L. "Ken" Wildermuth, 47, Galva, died at 11:14 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) in Royal Oaks Nursing Home, Kewanee, after battling cancer.
He was born June 11, 1957, in Tacoma, Wash., the son of Barbara Wildermuth.
Surviving are special friends and caregivers, Rachelle and Jim Daughtery, Galva, and their children, Jamie, Joani, Jolene, Jeri, Shelly and Terry; a half brother, Carl Wildermuth, and a half sister, Betty Wildermuth, both of the Quad City area. He was preceded in death by his mother.
He was a junker and small engine repairman in the Galva and surrounding area.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Rafalko officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret T. Smith

ROSEVILLE - Margaret Thomas Smith, 81, Roseville, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Smithshire, the daughter of Hessikiah and Carrie Leola Hawk Thomas.
She married Hugh W. Smith on June 30, 1952, in Georgia. He died Jan. 5, 1993.
Surviving are a stepson, Robert Lee Smith, Denver; a stepdaughter, Patricia Daly, San Diego; five sisters, Virginia Wallace, Roseville, Juanita Avery and Shirley Cook, both of Smithshire, and Marilyn Estes and Donna Richardson, both of Stronghurst; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a stepson.
She worked for many years as a cashier at Hawcock's Restaurant in Monmouth, and at the Pottery in Monmouth and the Burlington Ordinance Plant, Burlington, Iowa. She owned and operated Smitty's Coffee Shop in Belglade, Fla., and owned and operated a farm tour in Homestead, Fla.
She was a member of Roseville Christian Church, Roseville American Legion Auxiliary and Monmouth V.F.W., and former member of the Roseville Eastern Star.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Corman Memorial Home, with the Revs. James Oliver and Tim Randall officiating. Friends may call from noon Tuesday until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home; family will be present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Ellison Cemetery, Smithshire.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory.

Doris F. Pruett

ABINGDON - Doris F. Pruett, 90, 303 N. Washington St., died at 3:31 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Jan. 5, 1915, in McKee Township, Adams County, the daughter of George Conrad and Josephine Anna Mixer Goertz.
She married Charles M. Bowen on Sept. 12, 1933, in Quincy.She married Ottes Pruett on Jan. 31, 1953, near Maquon.He preceded her in death in 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Stinson and Doris Brooks, both of Abingdon; a stepson; a stepdaughter; a sister, Irene Evans, Camp Point; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren including Sherry Banks of East Galesburg, whom she raised; stepgreat-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
She lived in Abingdon since 1992 and had lived in the Maquon area.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau Home Extension.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Dinges officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Abingdon First Responders or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Beverly Brittingham

KNOXVILLE - Beverly Brittingham, 75, 619 S. Broad St., died at 3:31 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Henderson Township, Knox County, the daughter of Allen and Gladys M. Fields Robertson.
She married F. Eugene "Gene" Brittingham on Nov. 16, 1951, in Henderson Township. He died Feb. 12, 2002.
Surviving are a son, Gary Brittingham, Galesburg; a sister, Frances White, Galva; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant twin daughters, Jean Ann and Jane Ann Brittingham, a son, Greg Brittingham, and a sister.
She was raised and educated in Soperville and graduated from Galesburg High School.
She and her husband farmed in the Henderson Township area, and she worked at the Knoxville Flower Shop. She and her husband owned and operated Flowers by Bev in Knoxville before retiring and she worked part-time for Anderson Florist.
She was a member of Knoxville United Methodist Church, where she also was a member of the United Methodist Women and Connie Wieck Circle. She was a member of the American Business Women, and the Knoxville Chapter No. 880 Order of the Eastern Star and had served as organist.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Vick Roth officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Order of Eastern Star Chapter 880 Service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Order of Eastern Star Chapter 880 in Knoxville.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Jerome Darryl "Jerry" Karbeling, 53, Des Moines, died Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) in Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
He was born May 30, 1951, in Chicago, the son of Emanuel and Flora Brown Karbeling.
He married Margaret Holt in 1977, in Des Moines.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Sara; his parents of Potomac, Md.; three brothers, Michael (and Ann Poritzky) Karbeling of Silver Springs, Md., Howard (and Margery) Karbeling Thurmont, Md., and Kenneth (and Valerie) Karbeling, Gaithersburg, Md.; his father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Betty Lou Holt, Oneida, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Gary (and Marilyn Williamson) Holt, Rio, Ill., and Michael (and Kathleen McDonald) Holt, Woodhull, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara (and Daniel) Snyder, Indianapolis, Ind., and Betsy (and Desmond Nicotera) Holt, Littleton, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1969 and received his B.S. from Drake University College of Pharmacy in 1974.
He was Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Corporate Development for the Iowa Pharmacists Association and practiced as a community pharmacist and owner of Big Creek Pharmacy in Polk City, Iowa since 1977.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Temple B'nai Jeshurun. Dunn's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Iowa Pharmacy Foundation, The Friends of Polk City Library or Temple B'nai Jeshurun.

Lena M. Riggen

WILLIAMSFIELD - Lena Marie Riggen, 93, formerly of Williamsfield, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
She was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Truro Township, Knox County, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie Irving Johnson.
She married Clell H. Riggen on March 21, 1927, in Moline. He died May 28, 1970.
Surviving are a son, Merlin "Nub" Riggen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Roland (and Lillian) Spencer, Galesburg, and Calvin (and Darlene) Spencer, Macomb; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, LaVeta Switzer, two sisters and four brothers.
She attended Williamsfield Schools.
She worked for many years for the local school system. In the late 1960s she opened a cafe. She was owner and operator of Lena's Cafe in Williamsfield until she retired.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and several women's organizations in Williamsfield.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Rux Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darlene Reiner officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Elmore.
Memorials may be made to Williamsfield United Methodist Church or Elmore United Methodist Church.

Margaret Barr
February 1, 2005
MONMOUTH - Margaret Barr, 93, rural Monmouth, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) in Community Medical Center.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no obituary published, and graveside service will be private.
Persons wishing to remember Margaret may do so through memorials to First United Methodist Church or to the Community Medical Center Auxiliary. Turnbull Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
