Fritz, Wanda F.
October 30, 2003
MARQUETTE HEIGHTS - Wanda F. Fritz, 77, Marquette Heights, died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28, 2003) in Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
She was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Manito, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle Carrington Farnam.
She married William E. Fritz on Aug. 9, 1943, in Pekin. He died Nov. 2, 1967.
Surviving are two sons, William (and Earline) Fritz Jr., Edelstein, and David (and Denise) Fritz, Hanna City; four daughters, Mary (and Randy) Bumbalough and Phyllis Fritz, with whom she made her home, both of Marquette Heights, Linda (and Lester) Miller, Galesburg, and Joyce Fritz, St. Charles, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a great-granddaughter.
She farmed with her husband in the Morton, Lincoln and Hanna City areas. She also worked as a mental health technician at Peoria State Hospital and at Galesburg Mental Health Center, where she also worked in medical records.
She was a member of American Legion Post 561 Auxiliary in Manito and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau.
She was a member of Bartonville Christian Church and its Christian Women's Association.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with the Rev Kevin Dell officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to her church or the Smithville Cemetery Association.

Frost, Margaret R.
June 18, 2003
GALESBURG - Margaret Robb Frost, 90, 668 Home Blvd., died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Rosewod Care Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Canton, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Rogers White.
She married Colin Gillan in Detroit, Mich. He preceded her in death. She later married Reynold S. Frost on July 18, 1940, in Lake Forest. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are one sister, Alice (and John) Hills, Williamsville; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, James Gillan, three sisters and one brother.
She was reared and educated in Canton, and graduated from Canton High School.
She moved to Lake Forest and returned to Galesburg in 1991.
She was a homemaker and self-employed seamstress.
There will be no services. Her body was donated to medical science. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Community Hospices of America.

Fulton, John R.
January 6, 2004
GALESBURG - John R. Fulton, 84, 870 E. Brooks St., died at 10:21 a.m. Monday (Jan. 5, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born June 22, 1919, in Galesburg, the son of Wesley Raymond and Jennie Lannholm Fulton.
Surviving are a brother, Forrestt (and Doris) Fulton, Westminster, Colo.; and four nephews, including Richard L. Fulton of Galesburg, who cared for him.
He lived most of his life in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1937.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded a Bronze Battle Star Ribbon.
He worked as a shipping clerk at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of VFW Post 2257, Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 and the Gordon Behrents Senior Center.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors by American Legion Post 285. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Gordon Behrents Senior Center.

Gaskill, Dwight H.
April 28, 2004
OQUAWKA - Dwight H. Gaskill, 58, Oquawka, died Saturday (April 24, 2004) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Versailles, the son of Frederick and Hazel Hill Gaskill.
He married Diane Nelson in August 1969 in Galesburg. He married Judy Davis on June 27, 1998, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; his mother; a daughter, Karla (and Jacob) Lawrence of Germany; two stepdaughters, Serena Hackspacher, Monmouth, and Kim Eilenstine of Oregon; a stepson, Jason Crane, Biggsville; two brothers, Gerald (and Billie) Gaskill, Quincy, and Dwayne (and Donna) Gaskill, Abingdon; two sisters, Sharon (and Kenny) Meyers, and Jeanette Harold, both of Versailles; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was reared and educated in Versailles.
An Army veteran, he served from October 1967 to February 1968 and achieved the rank of Tech Sargent E-5.
He worked at Maytag in Galesburg for 38 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of AMVETS, AARP and the Men's Bowling Association.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, with the Rev. Gerald Marlow officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Christian Children's Fund.

Gayman, Charles M.
November 3, 2003
SMITHSHIRE - Charles M. Gayman, 75, rural Smithshire, died at 12:58 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 2, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Smithshire, the son of Walter H. and Erma P. Glas Gayman.
Surviving are two brothers, Walter J. Gayman, Miami, Fla., and Robert L. Gayman, Smithshire; a sister, Pauline M. Gayman, Galesburg; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
He lived all his life in the Smithshire and Roseville areas, where he farmed and was an entrepreneur.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Raritan, Lawson Babbitt American Legion Post 614 in Roseville and the Warren County Farm Bureau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ron Enderlin officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, with the rosary recited at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Roseville Mausoleum, with military honors by American Legion Post 614.
Memorials may be made to Roseville Ambulance Service or LaMoine Christian Nursing Home.

Gehring, Beverly J.
February 27, 2004
GALESBURG - Beverly J. Gehring, 77, 984 Florence Ave., died at 9:03 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 26, 2004), in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born March 2, 1926, in Fulton, the daughter of Jacob and Lena Shaver Van Vuren.
She married Russell C. Gehring on Oct. 18, 1946, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Patricia J. (and Michael) Doores, Abingdon, and Mary (and Norman) Ostermann, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy (and Donald) Houzenga, Fulton; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
She graduated from Fulton High School.
She worked in the office of Midwest Manufacturing in 1944, at Carson Pirie Scott for nine years, and at Kardans Dress Shop for 10 years until retiring in 1984.
She was a member of the Home Culture Club, and the Business and Professional Women.
She was a member of the Galesburg Covenant Church where she taught Sunday school, belonged to the Covenant Womens, and was a member of the Ruth Circle.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Covenant Church, with the Revs. Thomas Ek and G. Harold Ahlberg officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in the Oneida Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Covenant Church.

Gerbracht, Starr
August 4, 2004
MORTON - Starr Gerbracht, 44, 1000 South Fourth Avenue, formerly of 303 Beloit Road, Marquette Heights, died at 2:43 p.m. Sunday (August 1, 2004) in Dry Grove Township.
She was born July 8, 1960, in Galesburg, the daughter of LaVern and Joyce West McDowell.
She married Greg Boyer on Jan. 20, 1979, in Peoria. She married David Gerbracht on June 28, 2002, in Pekin.
Surviving are her husband, Marquette Heights, two sons, Greg Boyer and Dustin Boyer, both of Peoria; a daughter, Brittany Boyer, Morton; a stepson, Shane Gerbracht, Marquette Heights; her mother, Joyce McDowell, Knoxville; two sisters, Kathey (and Roger) Chase, Knoxville, and Lori (and Todd) Rodewald, Peoria; and two brothers, Donny McDowell, Peoria and Dan McDowell, East Peoria. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
She was a 1978 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Clifton-Gunderson for eight years.
She was of Christian faith.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Ludwig Mortuary in Morton, with the Rev. Gary Salm officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the mortuary. Cremation will be after services.

Gibson, Arthur A.
November 9, 2003
KNOXVILLE - Arthur A. Gibson, 75, 599 E. Walnut St., died at 4:38 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 8, 2003) at home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Persifer Township, Knox County, the son of Roy and Mae Harshbarger Gibson.
He married Phyllis Clevenger on March 26, 1950, in Galesburg.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Pam Gibson, Sacramento, Calif., and Debra Stenwall, Knoxville; three brothers, Roy (and Lois) Gibson Jr., and Melvin (and Evelyn) Gibson, both of Knoxville, and Gene (and Dee) Gibson, Dahinda; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He attended Flynn School near Knoxville and Knoxville and Williamsfield high schools.
A Navy veteranof the Korean War, he served as a second class petty officer from 1951 to 1955.
He farmed in Persifer Township from 1955 until retiring in 1993. He moved to Knoxville four years ago.
He was a trustee for the Persifer Township board for 16 years, was assistant fire chief for the Appleton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, was a member of the Knox County Water Conservation Board for five years and a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, with the Rev. Marty Briney officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Maxey Chapel United Methodist Church.

Gilbert, Patricia F.
December 17, 2003
GALESBURG - Patricia F. Gilbert, 87, 121 W. Simmons St., died at 10:30 p.m. Monday (Dec. 15, 2003) in Marigold Nursing Home.
She was born March 17, 1916, in Galesburg, the daughter of Frank and Florentine CiVardi Brock Costa.
She married Albert E. Gilbert on Dec. 18, 1941, in Galesburg. He died May 7, 1967.
Surviving are a stepson, DeWitt C. Gilbert, Hemet, Calif.; four stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Leah Gilbert Farley.
She graduated from Brown's Business College.
She worked 10 years at Irving's Tractor Lug Co. and at the Poland China Record Association in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and its Ladies of Mary Guild and the St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary, was a member and president the Grandmother's Club, vice president of the Mary Allen West Tower Association and served on the board of directors of West Central Illinois Legal Aid.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Watson Funeral Home. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic School or the Mary Allen West Memorial Fund.
