Mrs. Diane L. Singleton, 43, of 161 W. Tompkins St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:55 AM Wednesday May 16, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
She was born on December 27, 1957 in Quakertown PA to Russell and Anna (Bleam) Geiger. She married Mark S. Singleton in Quakertown PA on July 29, 1978. He survives.
She lived in Pennsylvania most her life moving to Galesburg in 2000. She graduated from Quakertown (PA) High School. She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Singleton of Quakertown, PA; her parents; Anna and Russell Geiger of Quakertown, PA; a daughter, Jessica Singleton of Quakertown, PA; a son, Mark Singleton of Quakertown, PA; three brothers, David Geiger of Red Hill, PA, Tom Geiger of Quakertown, PA and Russell Geiger, Jr. of FL; two sisters, Joann Geiger of Pittsburgh, PA and Pat Stump of Roaring Springs, PA; a fiancée, Richard Rigg of Galesburg, IL and one grandson.

Mrs. Mildred S. Darst, 88, of Eustis, FL, formerly of Galesburg, died at 5:15 PM Tuesday May 15, 2001 at Waterman Hospital, Eustis, FL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday May 19, 2001 at First Church of God with Rev. Derick Bacon officiating. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery, Smithfield. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday May 18, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Church of God.
She was born on May 8, 1913 in Kidder Township ND to William and Effie (Shilliger) Morrison. She married Clyde Darst in Steele SD on November 3, 1932. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1985.
She farmed with her husband for 52 years in the Fulton County (IL) area. She worked in food service in the Smithfield Grade School - Smithfield, IL. She also was a bus driver for the Cuba School District #3. She lived in Harris Township - Fulton County, Marietta IL area, and then lived in Galesburg for 14 years before moving to Eustis FL in 1999. She attended school in the Wallace District in Kidder County, ND. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Brock Methodist Church in Smithfield IL. While living in Galesburg she was a member of the First Church of God, where she was President of the Ladies Circle. Then in Florida she attended the Life Community Church. She served as an election judge. She was Treasurer for Harris Township. She was President of the Fulton County Home Extension Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Garnet Cassell of Eustis, FL; a son, Rayford Darst of Galesburg, IL; two sisters, Delores Speed of Covina, CA and Doris Wheeler of Bushnell, IL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Mr. Dale H. Harding, 78, of 1072 Olive St. Galesburg, IL, died at 3:19 PM Monday May 14, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday May 17, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Heather officiating. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #285 Color Guard.
He was born on September 29, 1922 in Galesburg to Daniel B. and Helen (Templeton) Harding. A career military man he retired as a staff sergeant in 1970. He served in World War II in China, Burma, India, Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Central Congregational Church and the American Legion. He held life memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

Mrs. Mary Jane Daugherty, 77, of 522 Newman St., Knoxville, IL, died at 9:20 AM Sunday May 13, 2001 at her home. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Wednesday May 16, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Jerald W. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of America.
She was born on January 7, 1924 in Millersburg IL to Lee and Edna (Mummey) Stead. She married Howard Daugherty in Palmyra MO on August 21, 1948. He preceded her in death. She worked as a cook at the Knoxville High School for several years and cleaned the offices of Dr. R.G. Hickerson for 33 years, retiring in 1999. She was a 1942 graduate of Joy High School and a member of the Knoxville Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Larry Daugherty of Monmouth, IL; a daughter, Linda Martin of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Helen Swanson of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Miss Kathryn Jane Waggoner, 86, of 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, IL, died at 6:16 AM Wednesday May 9, 2001 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Tuesday May 15, 2001 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church.
She was born on February 23, 1915 in Galesburg to Bernard and Kathryn (Ostrander) Waggoner.
She was a legal secretary in Galesburg then she worked for Galesburg Cottage Hospital as a Medical Transcriptionist and Medical Records Librarian for 40 years and retired in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Galesburg, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Melatomen Society in Galesburg, IL. She was a 1933 Galesburg High graduate and attended Brown's Business College in Galesburg and attended St. Scholastical in Duluth, MN. She lived in Galesburg her entire life.
She is survived by four cousins, Charles House of Park Rapids, MN, Elizabeth Ann Wittemore of Phoenix AZ, Jane Alice Lundblad of Parkersburg WV and Sarah Jean Perry of Mesa AZ.

Mrs. Helen A. Inman, 81, of 1445 N. West Street Galesburg, IL, died at 5:16 PM Thursday May 10, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 3:30 PM Monday May 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Paul Unger officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
She was born on September 21, 1919 in East Moline IL to Herman and Emma (Peterson) Dralle. She married Harold B. Inman in East Moline on December 31, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1988. She worked 2 years in sales for Anderson Florists and for several years in the dietary department at Cottage Hospital. She sold Avon Products for 26 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a Girl Scout leader and volunteered at the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
She is survived by three daughters, Jean Dart of Marina, CA, Janet Inman of Galesburg, IL, and Diane Weeks of Galesburg, IL; a brother, Richard Dralle of Geneseo, IL and 10 grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. M. Frances Lucas, 89, of 925 Dayton Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 12:42 PM Thursday May 10, 2001 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 1:30 PM Saturday May 12, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Saturday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born on September 25, 1911 in Henderson IL to John and Alta (Thomas) Schroeder. She married Myron P. Lucas in Henderson on June 10, 1937. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1996. She worked the telephone switchboard at the former First National Bank in Galesburg for 30 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 41 great nieces and great nephews, 61 great great nieces and great great nephews and 19 great great great nieces and great great great nephews. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. Marvin E. Anderson, 71, of 220 N. Pleasant Avenue Galesburg, IL, died at 6:15 AM Thursday May 10, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 1:00 PM Monday May 14, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Rivoli Township. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
He was born on October 29, 1929 in Alexis IL to John R. and Dorothy G. (Routh) Anderson. He married Lois Jean Atkinson in Galesburg on April 15, 1961. She survives. He worked at Knox College for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He graduated from New Windsor (IL) High School and attended the University of Illinois and Carl Sandburg College.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Anderson of Galesburg, IL; two sons, Steven Anderson of Decatur, IL and John Anderson of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Deborah Clark of Chatham, IL; three sisters, Frances Bost of Monmouth, IL, Janet Swanson of Winter Park, FL and Anita Kness of MO; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Duane E. Adams, 81, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive Galesburg, IL, died at 2:00 PM Wednesday May 9, 2001 at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday May 12, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Milton Marquith officiating. Memorials may be made to Marigold Health Care Activity Center.
He was born on April 20, 1902 in Avon IL to Garnet and Anna Mae (Kimble) Adams. He was a 1940 graduate of Galesburg High School. He worked as a baker with the Lucky Boy Bakery and then with the former Weaver-Yemm Chevrolet. He served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by a sister, Donna Buckner of Sun City Center, FL.

Mrs. Wilma L. Downing, 70, of 1336 Knox Hwy 8 Knoxville, IL, died at 7:28 AM Wednesday May 9, 2001 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Her funeral will be 11:30 AM Saturday May 12, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Jerald W. Hill officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday May 11, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
She was born on April 7, 1931 in Cameron IL to Leo and Helen (Yarde) Noonan. She married Floyd W. Downing in Moline IL on June 24, 1972. He survived. She had worked as a secretary at Dick Blick, Inc. and Consumer Grain and Supply; she also worked at Admiral Corporation. She was a member of the Knoxville Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Downing of Knoxville, IL, a son, Gari Lofgren of Gilson, IL, a grandson, Gabriel Lofgren of Gilson, IL and a granddaughter, Katrina Lofgren of Gilson, IL.

Mr. Theodore 'Ted' Hirshfield, 83, of 1907 David Drive Champaign, IL, died at 3:38 PM Sunday May 6, 2001 at Provena Covenant Hospital, Champaign, IL. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Saturday May 12, 2001 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
He was born on December 30, 1917 in Beacon NY to Harry and Julia (Solomon) Hirshfield. He married Margaret Elizabeth Benson on January 12, 1940 in Davenport IA. She survives. He was a 1934 graduate of West Warwick (RI) High School. He was the owner of Real Estate 1 in Champaign and Rantoul. He also owned the Illini Carpet Center. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Elks, American Legion, 40 and 8, the VFW. He was also a member of the Champaign County Board of Realtors and the Illinois Association of Realtors. He served in the Philippines with the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hirshfield of Champaign, IL; tow sons, Curtis Hirshfield of Galesburg, IL and Steven G. Hirshfield of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A daughter, Judith Ann Hirshfield, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Catherine L. Clayton, 72, of 204 Day Street Galesburg, IL, died at 8:30 AM Monday May 7, 2001 at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Friday May 11, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday May 10, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, the Galesburg Rescue Mission or OSF St. Mary Hospice.
She was born on December 17, 1928 in Galesburg to Charles and Elsie (Harper) Kelso. She married Charles Clayton in Galesburg in 1949. A 1946 graduate of Galesburg High School, she worked as at the Galesburg Rescue Mission for three years, the Galesburg State Research Hospital for 18 years and West Central Illinois Legal Assistance for 13 years. She retired in 1997. She was a member of the First Christian Church in which she was active in the Church Circles. She was also a deaconess of the Church. She was a member and secretary of the Galesburg Woman's Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Melinda Hopping of Las Cruces, NM, Lori Lundquist of Galesburg, IL and Lisa Penzone of Seminole, FL; a sister, Patricia Curtis of Galesburg, IL and three grandchildren.
