Mrs. Rebecca 'Beckie' Lester, 87, of Altoona, IA, formerly of Galesburg, died at 1:30 PM Sunday May 6, 2001 at CLC Nursing Home, Altoona, IA. Her funeral will be 1:00 PM Thursday May 17, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Lee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
She was born on August 25, 1913 in Floyd VA to John Lee and Lydia Elmira (Ferrell) Spangler. She married Arnold E. Lester in Roanoke VA on December 15, 1933. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1993. She lived in Galesburg for most of her life, living in Altoona for the last five years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Burlington-Northern Railroad.
She is survived by three sons, James Lester of East Peoria, IL, Norman "Gene" Lester of Galesburg, IL, and Richard Lester of Rock Island, IL; a daughter, Kathy Young of Altoona, IA; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Five sisters and a granddaughter preceded her in death.

Mr. Ivan N. Baughman, 77, of 129 W. Mary Street Galesburg, IL, died at 12:50 pm Friday May 4, 2001 at his home. His funeral will be 1:30 PM Monday May 7, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Dean Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Yates City Cemetery, Yates City. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Sunday May 6, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of America or the Covenant Church.
He was born on March 25, 1924 in Yates City IL to Willard and Edna (Olin) Baughman. He married Lucyle Brown in Galesburg on May 5, 1944. She survives. He worked 27 years for the Burlington Truck Lines, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Covenant Church and the Teamsters. He gave private guitar lessons. He served in the US Army in the Philippines during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Lucyle Baughman of Galesburg, IL; a son, Raymond Baughman of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Linda Mason of Las Vegas, NV and Connie Sims of New London, IA; a sister, Maxine Steurer of Appleton, WI; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. An infant son and a brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Harry Lee Lucas, Jr., 74, of 820 E. 5th Street Galesburg, IL, died at 2:00 AM Friday May 4, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Private family services will be held at a later date following cremation. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born on April 13, 1927 in Galesburg to Harry Lee and Evelyn (Vacorral) Lucas, Sr. He married Shirley Marie Mahnesmith in Galesburg on May 16, 1947. He worked at Outboard Marine Corporation. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Post #285. He served in the US Navy during World War II.
He is survived by a son, Lawrence Ross Lucas of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Donna Miller of Rio, IL and Ruth Ann Patterson of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Shirley I. Hutson, 68, of 2200 E. Main Street Galesburg, IL, died at 3:05 AM Thursday May 3, 2001 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:00 AM Monday May 7, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday May 6, 2001 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Family or the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She was born n March 5, 1933 in Abingdon IL to Ellery and Edith (Meadows) Courson. She married Delbert Chambers in Galesburg in 1952. She then married Sherman Hutson in Galesburg in 1965. Both preceded her in death. She worked at the Holiday Inn in Galesburg for 2 years. She was a part owner and bookkeeper for Mom's Duck Inn Restaurant for 22 years, retiring in 1978. She attended the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura Ruhl of Galesburg, IL and three grandchildren, Andrea Boggan and Nickolas Ruhl, both of Galesburg, IL and Jacklynn Ruhl of Belleville, IL. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

Braeden Kristopher Anderson, 6 weeks, of 129 N. Henderson Street Galesburg, IL, died at 10:15 AM Tuesday May 1, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. His funeral will be 11:30 AM Friday May 4, 2001 at St. Joseph Cemetery with Rev. Gary Bane and Rev. Robert Friese officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born on March 14, 2001 to Kristopher M. and Brandy L. (Bucher) Anderson. He is survived by his parents; a grandfather and step grandmother, Jerry and Nancy Bucher of Knoxville, IL; a grandmother, Marvelyn Bucher of Galesburg IL; a grandfather, Greg Anderson of Galesburg IL; two great grandmother, EuDoris Brown of North Henderson, IL and Mary Bucher of Galesburg IL; great grandparents, Richard and Eleanor Anderson of Galesburg IL and a great grandfather, Rod Johnson of Maquon, IL. Also, several aunts, uncles and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by two great grandfathers; Ernest Brown in 1990 and Joseph Bucher in 1965, and two great uncles.

Mr. Paul Zenner, 61, of 239 S. Cherry St. Galesburg, IL, died at 9:07 AM Saturday April 28, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday May 2, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Mike Van Acker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
He was born on April 21, 1940. He was employed by the Knox County Council for the Developmentally Disabled (KCCDD). He has lived in Galesburg since 1978.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Zenner of Roswell NM and a brother, Donald Zenner of Philadelphia, PA.

Ms. Karon S. Myler, 53, of 412 Locust St. Galesburg, IL, died at 4:38 AM Saturday April 28, 2001 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Graveside services will be 1:30 PM Wednesday May 2, 2001 at East Linwood Cemetery with Rev. Lonnie Sheldon officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born on July 13, 1947 in Galesburg to Fred S. and Mary J. (Binge) Myler. She was a food service worker at Knox College for 15 years before becoming disabled in 1985. She was a member of the Faith Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Myler of Galesburg, IL; a daughter, Tania Myler of Galesburg, IL; four sisters, Sharon Briggs, Cheryl Clark, Willa Howard and Betty Logsdon, all of Galesburg, IL and her fiancée, Ken Shanley of Galesburg, IL. Her father preceded her in death in 1984.

Mrs. Garnet Hagan, 96, of 191 Osage St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:45 AM Saturday April 28, 2001 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Her funeral will be 10:30 AM Tuesday May 1, 2001 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Seibert officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Costa Catholic School Library or the Knox County Council for the Developmentally Disabled (KCCDD).
She was born on July 25, 1904 in Ft. Madison IA to Emery V. and N. Daun (Spencer) Babbitt. She married Patrick H. Hagan in St. Augustine IL on February 7, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was a graduate of Galesburg High School and a member of Corpus Christi Church.
She is survived by a son, Ronald E. Hagan of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Doris Herrin and Carol A. Kenan, both of Galesburg, IL; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A son, Virgil P. Hagan, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Martha E. Horn, 85, of Pekin, IL, formerly of Galesburg, died at 12:29 AM Sunday April 29, 2001 at Pekin Hospital, Pekin, IL. Her funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday May 2, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Lee Johnson and Rev. Derek Horn officiating. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
She was born on March 11, 1916 in Monmouth IL to Clarence and Rhoda (Christensen) Galbreath. She married Lawrence W. Horn, Sr. in Hannibal MO in 1942.
She was clerk at JC Penney Department Store, an office worker at Spiegel Department Store and a "Green Thumb" worker for Carver Community Action Agency. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg.
She is survived by a son, Gaylord Horn of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Nancy Symmonds of Galesburg, IL; a brother, Harland Galbreath of CA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mildred E. Wyatt, 87, of 2345 N. Seminary Street Galesburg, IL, died at 1:10 AM Wednesday April 18, 2001 at Seminary Manor Nursing Home, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Sunday May 20, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church.
She was born on August 13, 1913 in Dallas City IL to Joseph and Alverta (Haines) Badgett. She married Lyman E. "Gene" Wyatt in Chicago IL on April 28, 1933. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra LeGrand of Mesa, AZ; a son, Jack E. Wyatt of Galesburg, IL; a sister, Lillian E. Wagher of Galesburg, IL and five grandchildren. A son, Roger Wyatt, preceded her in death in 1994.

Mr. James H. Palmer, 49, of 563 W. Second Street Galesburg, IL, died at 5:12 PM , Tuesday at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday September 9, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Rodney Miller, Faith Bible Fellowship, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Western Illinois Hemo-Dialysis Unit at Cottage Hospital. He was born on December 9, 1950 in Galesburg to James D. and Roberta (Carrier) Palmer. He married Dianne L. Griffith in Galesburg on September 28, 1996. She survives. He was a L.P.N. at the Care Center in Abingdon and Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg. He was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship. He is survived by his wife; mother, Roberta Steck of Galesburg, IL; step-father, Paul Steck of Galesburg IL; step-son, Richard Hunter of DeWitt, IA; sister, Linda Robinson of Warsaw, IL; four step sisters, Cheryl Moffit of Monticello IL, Becky Wildman of Decatur IL, Susie Benham of Wataga IL and Paula Miller of Albion MI. His father and a sister, Nancy Palmer, preceded him in death.

Mr. Maxwell Harris, 86, of 1145 Frank St. Galesburg, IL, died at 4:00 PM Friday September 1, 2000 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be held following cremation. He was born on September 22, 1913 in Boston MA to George and Celia (Goldstein) Harris. He married Nettie Wallace. She preceded him in death. One daughter, Shelly Bown of Wataga, IL, survives him. He was a shoe salesman at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York NY for 27 years, retiring in 1975. He served in the Army during World War II.

Mrs. Karen Johnson, 49, of 1720 Bluebird Dr. Galesburg, IL, died at 1:00 PM, Wednesday September 6, 2000 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Funeral services will be 8:00 PM Friday September 8, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jerry Webb and Rev. Alfred Cobb will officiate. Friends may call 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Chapel. Friends may also call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Crossville IL. Graveside services will be 4:00 PM Saturday September 9, 2000 at the Little Wabash Cemetery, Crossville. Memorials may be made to the Elk's Crippled Children's Fund or the American Cancer Society. She was born on February 22, 1951 in Evansville IN to George H. and Ann Pearl Davenport. She married Robert O. Johnson on June 23, 1978 in Galesburg IL. He survives. She worked as the Administrative Assistant at Bridgeway for 20 years and went beyond her duties to reach out to the people Bridgeway served. She was a member of the Elks Lodge #894, CEO Club, Reach to Recovery, and very active with the Knox County Humane Society and the Community Behavioral Health Care Association. She was a member of the Summit Avenue Baptist Church in Decatur, IL. She was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. She graduated from MacArthur High School in Decatur IL in 1969. She attended Lakeland College in Mattoon, IL. She entertained many children and adults as "Magic Lady". She is survived by her husband; father and stepmother, George H. and Lucile Davenport of Crossville; two stepsons, Jim S. Johnson of Peoria IL and Jon K. Johnson of Wataga IL; one brother, George W. Davenport of Oreana IL; one stepbrother, Bobby Rollinger of Decatur IL; three sisters, Leona Cobb of Mayfield KY, Shirley Pierce of Mt. Zion IL and Peggy Davenport of Yakima WA; four stepsisters, Sarah Burrows, Rose Maulden, Helen Pullens all of Decatur IL and Dorothy Burnett of Tulihine OK; two stepgrandsons -Tanner and Bryce Johnson of Peoria IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Edith M. Bateman, 92, of 502 Yates Street Galesburg, IL, died at 11:27 PM, Tuesday at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Friday September 8, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. John Grimes and Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Friends may call from 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. Friday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Advent Christian Church or the Knox County Nursing Home. She was born on February 26, 1908 in Canton IL to William E. and Lucy (Dick) Andrews. She married George Levi Bateman in Farmington IL on May 5, 1926. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1973. A homemaker, Mrs. Bateman was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Galesburg. She was a Past President of the former Loyal Star (a railroad auxiliary). She also volunteered at the Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross and the former Galesburg Mental Health Center. One daughter, Agatha Barnewolt of Galesburg, IL, three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and eleven great great grandchildren survive her.

Mrs. Melba R. Brown, 63, of 260 Allens Avenue Galesburg, IL, died at 4:03 PM Monday September 4, 2000 at the Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday September 8, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Lee Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Friends may call from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation. She was born on November 24, 1936 in Atlanta TX to Robert and Stella (Howell) Buzbee. She married William F. Brown in Atlanta TX on July 1, 1955. He survives. She was a member of the General Baptist Church in Abingdon IL. She played basketball for her high school in Queen City TX. She was active in sports and an avid Chicago Bulls professional basketball fan. She is survived by her husband; mother, Stella Buzbee of Atlanta TX; three daughters, Darla Brown of Galesburg, Debbie Gray of Victoria IL, and Linda Rice of East Galesburg IL; two sons, Mark Brown of Abingdon and Robert Brown of Galesburg; three brothers: Bo Buzbee, Joyce Buzbee Jr. and Glen Buzbee, all of Atlanta TX; three sisters: Lazelle Garner and Brenda Schermarhorn both of Atlanta TX and Frankie Crooks of Queen City TX; and ten grandchildren. Her father and one granddaughter, Cherish Gray, preceded her in death.
