HANOVER - Daniel L. Ghys Jr., 44, of Hanover died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Law-Jones Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. Friday at Greenview Memorial Garden Chapel in East Moline. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

Georgia E. Clankie
FREEPORT - Georgia E. Clankie, 79, of Freeport died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Florida.
Georgia and her husband farmed near Pecatonica.
Surviving are one daughter, Frances (Orville) Hutchings of Pinckneyville; one son, Tommy (Karen) Clankie of Freeport; nine grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred Clankie; one granddaughter, Tracy Meighan; one brother; and one sister.
Private services will be held.
Arrangements were made by Schwarz Funeral Home.

Jonathyn Hartman
CROWN POINT, Ind. - Jonathyn Michael "Mike" Hartman, 56, of Crown Point, Ind., passed away at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, Ind.
Jonathyn is survived by his loving wife, Elaine of Crown Point; mother, Helen Butler of Rockford; mother-in-law, Juanita Joyner of Lowell Ind.; brothers, Patrick (Rose) Hartman and John (Debbie) Hartman; sister-in-law, Diann (Lloyd) Sherwood; brother-in-law, Ron (Shelly) Joyner; special friend, Deborah Hill Hartman; children, Mike (Annette) Jenkins, Kristi Anderson and her son, Jason Anderson, Stephanie (Mark) Rossato, Judith Roan and Werner (Jane) Roan; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, John R. Hartman Sr.; his stepfather, King D. Butler Jr.; his father-in-law, Clelly E. Joyner; and all his grandparents.
Mike married Elaine Joyner on March 7, 1992, in Lowell, Ind.
He served two tours of duty with the U.S. Army, in Okinawa, Japan, for more than two years, and in Germany for four years.
The 1966 graduate of Freeport High School attended Madison Business College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and management.
Mike drove for JB Hunt Transportation for 10 years.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Shererville, Ind., with the Rev. Mark Pflughoeft officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville.
Friends may meet with the family from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Frances M. Handel
FREEPORT -- Frances Martha Handel, 80, of Freeport, loving mother, grandma, great-grandma, passed into eternal life Sunday March 30, 2003, at her home.
Born Feb. 22, 1923, in Madison, Wis. she was the daughter of Angelo and Virginia (Verdina) DiModica.
Frances recently resided at Lincoln Tower Apartments, formerly lived on Rotzler Avenue with her beloved Emil Handel, whom she married in 1985. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She retired from Micro Switch Company in 1985.
Her memberships included: St. Mary Catholic Church; Ladies Guild; Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilary. She was a Freeport Memorial Hospital Volunteer.
All who knew her will remember her love for God, her family, her many friends, and her Kay Kay kitty cat.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Charles) Lieske of Charlotte, N.C., and Sylvia Holmes of Clinton, Wis.; two sons, Michael DiModica of Freeport and Robert Delzell of Cumberland, Md.; two sisters, Sara Cali and Minnie (Carmen) Cali, both of Freeport; one brother, Paul (Betty) DiModica of Sunrise, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Vito DiModica.
The funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Jones officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. today to time of service at the church.
So greatly she will be forever loved and greatly she will be forever missed.
Greatly, dear God, may she be blessed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Mary Catholic Church and Freeport Memorial Hospice.

Vera M. Heindel
MONROE, Wis. -- Vera M. Heindel, 91, of Monroe, Wis., formerly of rural Gratiot, Wis., died March 30, 2003.
She was born Sept. 16, 1911, in Lena, daughter of Henry and Amy (Gishwiller) Wernicke. On Nov. 28, 1940, Vera and Edward Heindel were married in Lena. He preceded her in 1977.
Mrs. Heindel and Edward farmed in the Warren-Gratiot area until 1971. She worked for the Warren School District in the kitchen as a baker from 1963 until retiring in 1976. She enjoyed baking rolls and doughnuts.
Her memberships included Warren United Methodist Church and formerly of the Warren Rebekas.
Surviving are two sons, Larry and his wife Diane of Monroe and Harold of Gratiot; and two grandchildren, Lisa and Kerry of Monroe and Madison.
Preceding her in death were her husband and brother, Louis.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Warren.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Marlene R. Palmer
BAILEYVILLE -- Marlene R. Palmer, 66, of Baileyville died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at home.
She was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Forreston to Christian and Mable Wubbena Drake. On Sept. 14, 1957, Marlene and Kenneth W. Palmer were married in Forreston. He died Jan. 5, 2001.
After graduating from Forreston High School, she completed the course of study at Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse until retiring. She and her husband owned and operated Palmer Electric.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport.
She enjoyed camping, working outdoors and time with her family.
Surviving are her mother, Mable Drake of Mount Morris; two daughters, Bonnie McCorkle of Baileyville and Bev (fiance, Joel Scheider) Bratley of Freeport; four grandchildren, Adam and Josh Bratley and Michael Jr. and Sam McCorkle; two sisters, Delores Edwards of Oregon, Eleanor (Bill) Tucker of Sioux City, Iowa; one brother- in-law, Ray (Sharon) Palmer of Wisconsin; three nieces; and three nephews.
The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Thomas McClellan officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
