Wilfred T. Wolfram
WARREN -- Wilfred T. "Bill" Wolfram, 80, of Warren died Monday, June 21, 2004, at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
Bill was born July 25, 1923, in Lafayette County, Wis., to William and Loretta (McDermott) Wolfram. He graduated from Warren High School. Bill married Donna M. Stich on Feb. 26, 1949, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Warren.
Early in his life, Bill farmed and worked for the Farm Bureau. Later he was a bookkeeper/dispatcher at Stich Redi-Mix of Lena and then at RS&D Redi-Mix of Freeport for the next 26 years, until his retirement. Bill and Donna owned and operated the Brwedge Motel in Warren for 31 years.
Bill was very active in the community, serving as mayor of Nora and member of Warren School Board, village board, development board, township supervisor, Lions Club Melvin Jones Award recipient, Knights of Columbus and St. Ann Catholic Church Council. In 2000, Mr. Wolfram was named Warren Citizen of the Year.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna; one son, Michael (Sally) Wolfram of Gratiot, Wis.; three daughters, Catherine (Francis) Fennell of Warren, Teresa (Thomas) Gille of Shullsburg, Wis., and Denise (Kirk) Brinker of Baraboo; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Wolfram, Marissa (U.S. Navy 2nd Class Petty Officer Nathaniel) Eaton, Danielle (Kyle) Auten, Casey (fiance Brooke Gill) Fennel, Erin Fennell, Amber, Brock and Brant Gille, Heather, U.S. Marine Pfc. Nicholas, Drew and Emily Brinker; two great-grandchildren, Noah Eaton and Lane Auten; two sisters, Arlene (Clyde) Blair of Warren and Sr. Marilyn Therese, OSF of Elmwood Park; one sister-in-law, Carol (Rev. Ernest) Wilbur of Lena; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rita; and his brother-in-law, Donald Stich.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren where the rosary will be said.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Ann Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory.

Marvin R. Crowley
APACHE, JUNCTION, Ariz. -- Marvin R. Crowley, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Apache Junction, Ariz., after a courageous battle with cancer.
God gave Marv a burden to carry and he showed us how to do it valiantly.
Marv was born June 8, 1934, in Rockford to Ralph and Anna (Glawe) Crowley. He graduated from Durand High School in 1952. He married Loreen Holcomb on May 12, 1956, at Grace United Methodist Church in Rockford.
Marv farmed all his life and also worked at Dean Foods at its Pecatonica plant, for 26 years.
He loved farming and tinkering with old machinery and cars.
He was a member of Indian Grove Country Church, Winnebago County Farm Bureau, Rock-Ford A's and Dean's 25-Year Club.
He is survived by the loves of his life, wife, Loreen; son, Brian (Kathryn) of Cherry Valley; daughters, Lorinda (James) Dwyer of Fort Myers, Fla., Jennifer (Timothy Bryan) Baptist of Mesa, Ariz., and Robin (Richard) Kerns of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; grandchildren, Adam and Joanne Crowley of Cherry Valley, Hayden, Logan and Amy Bryan of Mesa; brother, Merle (Laura) of Rockford; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Indian Grove Country Church in Rock City with the Rev. James French officiating.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday to time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Indian Grove Country Church, Freeport Hospice, American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main St., Durand, assisted the family.

Harvey L. Haug
CARY -- Harvey L. Haug, 68, of Cary died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
He was born Aug. 16, 1935, near Galena, the son of Leo and Winifred (Monnier) Haug. In 1953, Harvey graduated from Stockton High School. On Sept. 2, 1955, Harvey and Darlene Haug were married in Stockton.
Harvey worked his entire adult life as an over-the-road truck driver.
He traveled throughout the United States for more than 40 years and thoroughly enjoyed meeting people and making friends wherever he went.
Harvey was a loving husband, a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a caring friend with a helping hand for his neighbors. He will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Cary; daughters, Debra (Don) Pitz of Cary and Teresa (Fred) Doll of Cary; and sons, Dennis (Cathy) Haug of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Bradley (Carol) Haug of Cary; brothers, Melvin (Barbara) Haug of Monroe, Wis., and Leo (Jackie) Haug Jr. of Stockton; sisters, Merilyn Ross of Montville, Ohio, LaDelle (Don) Mackeben of Minneapolis and Phyllis (Richard) Hermann of Stockton; grandchildren, Nathan, Megan and Emily Pitz of Cary; Ryan, Kim (Chris) Sheppard and Jason Haug of Highlands Ranch, Eric, Kyle and Steven Haug and Brittany Doll, both of Cary; great-grandchildren, Alixis, Joshua and Nicolas Sheppard of Highlands Ranch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Win and Leo Haug, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, 60013.
Services will be Held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church in Cary.

Victor Shianna
LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Victor Shianna, 91, of Lafayette, Ind., formerly of Freeport, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Hope Hospital in Lafayette.
Victor was born July 20, 1912, in Chicago, the son of Peter and Margaret Terronello Shianna. On Oct. 26, 1940, Marilyn J. Raether and Victor were married in Chicago.
Prior to his retirement in 1974, he worked 43 years for the Illinois Central Railroad, a maintenance foreman.
Mr. Shianna was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette and was a member of The Old Rails at Jenks Rest at Columbian Park. He also enjoyed baseball and playing cards.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Peter (Lori) Shianna of Overland Park, Kan.; two daughters, Peg (Dale) Bartley of San Rafael, Calif., and Vickie (Tom) Katrein of Ottawa; one stepbrother, Tony (Lorene) Sciutto of Freeport; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one sister, one brother, one stepbrothers and three half brothers.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport with the Rev. John Cahill, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

John W. Vaupel
SONOMA, Calif. -- John W. Vaupel, 93, passed away in Sonoma, Calif., on Sunday, May 23, 2004.
He was born Sept. 22, 1910, to William H. and Luella Clark Vaupel in Freeport. His wife, Anna Mae Eccles, also of Freeport, predeceased him. They were married on June 12, 1937, at her mother's home on West Stephenson Street.
Mr. Vaupel was employed by General Electric his entire working life, most recently, as a designer of electrical products, and finished his GE career in San Jose, Calif. He and his wife retired to Sonoma in 1976.
He is survived by six cousins, Karl Janssen of Freeport, Mary Cray of Southern Pines, N.C., Betty Raymer of Dixon, Jack Vaupel of Holland, Mich., Alice Smith of Roswell, Ga., and James Seitz of Naples, Fla.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum with Pastor Herb Bollman of Community Reformed Church officiating.

Josephine A. Ruter
FORRESTON -- Josephine A. "Jo" Ruter, 87, lifelong Forreston-area resident, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Polo Continental Manor in Polo.
She was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Baileyville, the daughter of Albert and Anna Bojen Schoonhoven. In 1938, Josephine and George Ruter were married. Mr. Ruter died in May 1998.
A nurse's aide, she worked 20 years at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Center and three years at Stephenson Nursing Center.
She enjoyed playing euchre and 42. She wrote a column for the Forreston Journal and was active at Elmer Davis Community Center.
Surviving are four sons, Rodney (Randi) Ruter of Nampa, Idaho, Edgar "Butch" (Eleanor) Ruter of Oregon and Michael Ruter of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter, Darlene (Bud) Christenson of Sanford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ethel Kochmeier of Forreston, Viola Keister of Freeport and Evelyn (John) Nicholes of Harvey, Iowa.
Preceding her in death were her friend, Kenneth Derby, 2 sisters and one brother.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston with the Rev. Richard Bright, Chaplain of Pinecrest Manor, officiating. Burial will be at West Grove Cemetery in Forreston.
Visitation hours are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Curtis R. Miller
CEDARVILLE -- Curtis Ray Miller, 60, of Cedarville died Friday, June 25, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born July 13, 1943, in Freeport, he was the son of Raymond F. and Gladys (Bowers) Miller.
He worked for 25 years at Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. and owned and operated Timothy's Yogurt 'n More store.
Curtis married Mary Lou Pitterle on Jan. 15, 1965, in Freeport. She died on Dec. 23, 1994.
A former Germania Club member, he was a railroad buff and member of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club. He also enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and loved fishing.
Surviving are his stepmother, Irene Miller of Freeport; one son, Roger Ray (Jennifer) Miller of Freeport; and one grandson, Roger Ray Miller Jr.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, with Senior Pastor Keith Boyer officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Zella M. Heckman
LANARK -- Zella M. Heckman, 96, of Lanark died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the Lena Nursing Home.
She was born on March 25, 1908 in rural Lanark, the daughter of John and Lizzie Mae (Harris) Bowers. She graduated from Lanark High School in 1927.
Zella married Frank Heckman on September 8, 1927 in Morrison. The couple farmed near Lanark all their lives before Frank preceded her in death on August 4, 1985.
She is survived by three sons, Don (Barb) Heckman of Grand Detour, Ron (Mary) Heckman of Freeport and John (Donna) Heckman of Lanark; two daughters, Phyllis (Fred) Miller of Lanark and Pat (Jerry) Witt of Stow, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one step-great-great-grandchild; and one sister-in-law.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Orville Bowers; an infant sister; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Russell-Frank Funeral Home in Lanark with the Rev. Jerry Witt officiating. Burial will be in the Lanark Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday to time of service at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in her memory.

Josephine A. Ruter

Thomas Ennenga
CEDARVILLE -- Thomas Ennenga, 81, of Cedarville died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia.
Thomas was born Aug. 19, 1922, the son of Oscar and Cornelia (Thomas) Ennenga. He graduated from Laurenceville School in Laurenceville, N.J., in 1941 and Princeton University in 1945, where he was awarded Phi Beta Kappa.
Tom married Ida Louise Curtis on June 24, 1944. The couple would be celebrating their 60th anniversary today. They met in the summer of 1939 at Cheley Colorado Camps in Estes Park, Colo. In a draw of cards, they each drew the Jack of Diamonds. Rifleman Tom said, "She caught me in her crosshairs."
Thomas was a Marine Corps lieutenant during World War II, and was stationed in Japan, Okinawa and China. He returned from the war to run the E&W Clothing House until 1990, when the store was closed. He and Ida Lou bought the ruins of the birth place of Jane Addams in Cedarville in 1956, and rebuilt the home to its original splendor.
Tom was very active in the community, serving on the Freeport School Board during the 1960s. He was instrumental in fund-raising for land where Highland Community College is located. He was the founder and director of the Jane Addamsland Park Foundation and assisted his wife with the Freeport Arts Center. He also was instrumental in the establishment of the Heart of Memorial Trust for Freeport Memorial Hospital and was an active member of the Freeport Rotary Club.
He served on the board of directors of Premier Financial Services and was active with Freeport Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Downtown Freeport and Grace Episcopal Church.
He had an avid interest in falconry, starting the activity at the age of 12, and was well-known in the falconry community for his breadth and depth of knowledge. He also was a lifelong upland game hunter and avid fisherman, sharing the interest with his father, his sons, his grandsons and many friends.
Surviving Thomas are his son, George Ennenga of New York City; his daughters, Constance (Byron) Starns of St. Paul, Minn., and Lucie (Francois) Gadenne of Marblehead, Mass.; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Ida Lou; his younger son, T. Curtiss; and infant daughter, Caroline.
Cremations rites were accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mary Ann Hill officiating.
Interment of his cremains will be at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum in Freeport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Jane Addamsland Park Foundation, Highland Community College, Heart of Memorial Trust and Grace Episcopal Church.
