Margaret E. Noser
MOUNT CARROLL -- Margaret E. Noser, age 90, of Mount Carroll died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mount Carroll.
Margaret was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Mount Carroll Township, the daughter of Lewis E. and Mamie E. (Meister) Weidman. Margaret and Leslie Guenzler were married in December 1933. Leslie passed away in December 1939. Margaret was united in marriage to Haven H. Noser on June 28, 1941, in Mount Carroll. Haven passed away on May 25, 2004, in Freeport.
Margaret was a homemaker and farmed with her husband for more than 45 years. She kept detailed records of their farming operation, while overseeing the gardening and canning for the growing family. She was a member and a deaconess of Lanark First Brethren Church. She also was a member of the Missionary Society of the church, Homemakers Club of Freedom Township and Home Extension. Margaret loved family, friends, church and gardening. She helped Haven with his cap collection, and she even started a collection of her own. Haven and Margaret enjoyed going horseback riding in their earlier years.
Margaret is survived by her four sons; Lee (Pearl) Guenzler of Union Grove, Wis., Donald (Judy) Guenzler of Red Wing, Minn., Richard (Sandy) Noser of Marion, Ohio, and Marvin (Carol) Noser of Ligonier, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Marge Guenzler of Amboy; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Leora Strieff and Mrs. Mavis Lerol, both of Pine Island, Minn., Robert (Arlene) Noser of Zumbrota, Minn., and Pete Gullickson.
Margaret is preceded in death by both husbands Leslie and Haven, her parents, and her son, Kenneth Guenzler, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lanark First Brethren Church with Pastor Arnold Owens officiating. Burial will at Lanark Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lanark First Brethren Church.
Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home or Lanark First Brethren Church in Margaret's name.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Frank-Law Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll.

David E. Modes
APPLE CANYON LAKE -- David E. Modes, 59, of Apple Canyon Lake died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at the V.A. Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were made by Hermann Funeral Home.

Lurline R. Andre
FREEPORT -- Lurline R. Andre, 93, of Freeport ascended to heaven on Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 2, 1911, in Janesville, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Ellen Bernard, who farmed in Brodhead, Wis. Lurline was happily married to Elmer W. Andre of Twin Grove, Wis., from Oct. 8, 1932, until his ascension on Sept. 23, 1966.
She graduated from Brodhead High School in Brodhead, and received a teaching certificate from Monroe Teachers College in Monroe, Wis.
For many years, she had a daycare in her home and was teacher/supervisor of pre-school and kindergarten at Berean Baptist Academy until she retired in 1981. She loved teaching small children.
Mrs. Andre was an active member of Freeport Baptist Church and enjoyed serving the Lord. She was in charge of Children's Church for many years.
She served on the Board of Education for Freeport Baptist Academy.
Lurline R. Andre is survived by a daughter, Ardis D. (Robert) Geiseman; and four grandchildren, Matthew Geiseman, Michelle (Richard) Guzzardo and Mike (Kelly) Geiseman, all of Freeport, and Mark (Angie) Geiseman, six great-grandchildren; five favorite nieces and nephews; and Mrs. Linda (Ray) Dyke, who was embraced as a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful parents; loving husband, Elmer; son, Arlyn; brother, Charles Bernard; and sister, Carrie (Bernard) Winchester. Friends may call from 9:15 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at Freeport Baptist Church, 2810 W. Pearl City Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Kurt Strong officiating. Lunch will be served directly after the funeral, at the church.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the lunch.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory for the benefit of Freeport Baptist Academy and Stephenson Nursing Center.
Walker Mortuary in Freeport is coordinating funeral arrangements.

Wilbur H. Klein
SHANNON -- Wilbur H. Klein, 66, of Shannon, formerly of Savanna, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, Iowa.
He was born Jan. 26, 1938 in Taft Township, Taylor County, Wis., the son of Julius and Eleanor (Westaby) Klein. Wilbur and Marsha Barker were married on April 16, 1977 in Mount Carroll.
He attended Savanna High School and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne where he attended Jump School.
Mr. Klein worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and retired from Metform Co. in Savanna.
He enjoyed woodworking, day trips, working on cars, designing things, sewing and his grandchildren.
Wilbur H. Klein is survived by his wife; one son, Lyle Eric (Lorilei) Klein of Carthage; one daughter, Deanna Louise (Eric) Deal of Freeport; five grandchildren, Erick Klein, Nick Klein, Chloe Klein, Hunter Deal and Hanna Deal, and another grandchild soon to be born; one sister, Ruth (Robert) Wilson of Savanna; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Albert and Robert; and one sister, Clara.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hermann Funeral Home in Shannon. Burial will be at Brethren Cemetery in Shannon. A memorial fund has been established.

Bonnie Longamore
BAILEYVILLE -- Bonnie J. Longamore, 67, of Baileyville died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 16, 1936 in Freeport, the daughter of William and Beatrice Sager Orr. On May 17, 1958, Bonnie and Donald F. Longamore Sr. were married in Freeport.
Prior to her retirement in 1996, she was a registered nurse, most recently at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Bonnie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed nursing, flowers and gardening, and was also a good neighbor and avid Chicago Bears fan.
Surviving Bonnie J. Longamore is her husband, Donald F. Longamore Sr. of Baileyville; two sons, Donald F. (Angie) Longamore Jr. of Orangeville and his children, Jennifer, Jeremy and Joshua, and Curtis (Janet) Longamore of Los Angeles, and his child, Pierce; three daughters, Delene (Daryl) Tessman of Freeport and her children, Carly and Jonathon, Colene (George) Siegmeier of German Valley and her children, Nicholas, Bryce and Zoe, and Cara (Steve) Hoffman of Pecatonica and her child, Kerigen; two sisters, Barbara Orr and Judy Orr, both of Freeport; and many special friends.
Preceding her were her parents and her twin brother, Ronnie.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randall Knoll officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Saturday to time of service at the chapel.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
Arrangements were made by Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.

Richard E. Plenger
SYCAMORE -- Richard Eugene Plenger, 71, of Sycamore died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
He was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Lena, the son of John Anthony Plenger and Sarah Avis (Morgan) Plenger. Richard and Janet Ferguson were married on June 19, 1955, in Lena.
Mr. Plenger was a customer engineer for IBM Corporation in the DeKalb area for 39 years.
He was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in Sycamore, Sycamore Kiwanis, and was an active Boy Scout leader of Troop 16 and Explorer Post 316 for more than 10 years.
Mr. Plenger was a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Navy.
Richard E. Plenger is survived by his wife, Janet Plenger of Sycamore; a daughter, Pamela Fushi of Longmont, Colo.; two sons, Robert Plenger of Sycamore and Paul (Christina) Plenger of Cortland; a sister, Jean (Floyd) Otte of Pearl City; two grandsons, Blake and Connor Fushi of Colorado; several nieces and nephews; and a special brother-in-law, Norman Wybourn of Lena.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Vern Plenger; and a sister, Frances Boeke.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, with the Rev. Donald Phelps officiating. Interment will be at Lena Burial Park in Lena. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established in care of the funeral home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore IL 61078.

Gladys M. Smith
FREEPORT -- Gladys Mae Smith, 81, of Freeport died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 1, 1923, in Stephenson County, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Meiners Linneman. On July 30, 1955, Gladys and Lowell L. Smith were married in Freeport. Mr. Smith died March 14, 1985.
Prior to her retirement in 1985, Gladys worked many years at Burgess Battery Co.
Mrs. Smith attended Park Hills Evangelical Church.
She enjoyed puzzles, collecting cookbooks, vases and baskets and attending county fairs.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda S. Smith of Freeport; one brother, Clarence (Glenda) Linneman of Freeport; two sisters, Edith Arjes of Freeport and Delores (Glen) Kuhlemier of Rock Falls; and nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Thomas McClellan officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday to time of service at the chapel.
A memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Eileen Christensen
MOUNT CARROLL -- Eileen M. Christensen, 89, of Mount Carroll died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Wacker. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Frank-Law Jones Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.

Michael J. Fink
MILLEDGEVILLE -- Michael John Fink, age 35, of Milledgeville died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at home after a long battle with cancer, under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Rock River Valley.
Michael was born Sept. 16, 1968 in Sterling, the son of Gerald and Penny (Warner) Fink. He graduated from Eastland High School in Lanark with the class of 1987. Michael married Lori Nordhougen of Grand Forks, N.D., on March 8, 2003 at Brookville United Methodist Church in Brookville.
Michael worked on the family farm with his brother and father.
Michael and Lori loved working together to drag race Michael's 1971 AMC Javelin at Cordova Dragway Park in Cordova. He also enjoyed playing football during high school and working on model trains with his nephew.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lori; his parents, Gerald and Penny Fink of Lanark; one brother, Rod (Renee) Fink of Lanark; one nephew, Marshall; one niece, Makenzie; Lori's parents, David Nordhougen of Wahpeton, N.D., and Wanda Nordhougen of Grand Forks; and many loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Brookville United Methodist Church with Pastor Alice Hedges officiating. Burial will be at Chadwick Cemetery in Chadwick.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll.
After burial, a luncheon will be served at the church in Brookville. A memorial fund has been established in Michael's name.

William Grantham
OREGON -- William H. Grantham, 93, of Oregon died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Oregon Healthcare Center.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Morris. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements were made by Finch Funeral Home.

Vada M. Ludolph
FREEPORT -- Vada M. Ludolph, 99, of Freeport died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Freeport Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Scott Ludolph
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- Scott Ludolph of Kirksville, Mo., formerly of Freeport, died July 21, 2004.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Timothy J. Schirmer
FREEPORT -- Timothy John Schirmer, 56, of Freeport died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.
He was born July 22, 1948, in Freeport, the son of George and Mary Margaret (Scheidt) Schirmer. On Oct. 9, 1971, Tim and Patricia K. Harring were married in Freeport.
He was a graduate of Aquin High School, Highland Community College and Northern Illinois University.
Mr. Schirmer was an insurance broker and teacher at Aquin High School. He enjoyed caning chairs and collecting antiques.
His memberships included St. Mary Catholic Church and Aquin Boosters.
Surviving Timothy J. Schirmer are his wife, Patricia K. Schirmer of Freeport; his mother, Mary Margaret Schirmer of Freeport; his children, Sarah (Paul) Mullen of Fort Madison, Iowa, Katra Schirmer (Philip Thompson) of Vine Grove, Ky., and Eric (Julie) Schirmer of New Lenox; his grandchildren, Anna and Joshua Mullen of Fort Madison; his brothers, Michael (Toni) Schirmer of Shillington, Pa., and David (Dawn) Schirmer of Pearl City; his sister, Laurie (Thomas) Carpenter of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, George H. Schirmer Jr., and his brother, George H. Schirmer III.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Burt H. Absalon officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Schwarz Funeral Home where a Scripture service will begin at 2 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Aquin High School.

Mary Lou Stambaugh
FREEPORT -- Mary Lou Stambaugh, 76, of Freeport died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Provena St. Joseph Center.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday to time of service at the church.

E. Stan Waller
KENMORE, N.Y. -- E. Stan Waller of Kenmore, N.Y., formerly of Freeport, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
