Eva Marshall
Eva Mae Marshall, 91 of Tamaroa, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Portland, Oregon, May 19, 2002.

Eva was born August 8, 1910 at Tamaroa, IL the daughter of George and Rachel Branum.

She married Sam Marshall and he preceded her in death.

A Tamaroa native, she lived in Chicago for many years where she was Director of Training at Pivot Point Beauty School before moving back to Tamaroa. A few years before her death she moved to Portland. Two of her grandchildren and her daughter were with her when she died.

Eva is survived by her daughter- Ruth Cook, son- Richard Marshall, two sisters- Norma Brocaille and Peggy Mattingly, two brothers- Charles Branum and Tom Branum, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Searby Fuenral Home in Tamaroa with Bro. Jerry Aken officiating.

Interment was in the Tamaroa cemetery.

Friends called from 9 to 10 A.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

In lieu of flowers donation to Arthritis Foundation, 2621 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL 61604 would be appreciated.

Thomas Edgar Davison
Thomas Edgar Davison, 84, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:39 P.M., Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at his residence.

Tom was a retired supervisor at the Freeman United Coal Mine having thirty five years of service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, the Knights of Columbus and the Du Quoin Elks Lodge. He was a US Army veteran of W.W. II serving in the Pacific.

He was born September 14, 1917 in Perry County, IL the son of Thomas W. and Flora Jane (Taylor) Davison.

He married Rose J. Powenski on August 28, 1948 at Benton, IL, she passed away October 2, 1998.

He is survived by a daughter- Julia Ann Lunnemann and husband Jim of Pinckneyville, two sons- Lyle (Duke) Davison and wife Donna of Du Quoin, Michael Davison and wife Veronica of Du Quoin, seven grandchildren-Jennifer and Richard Robb of Pinckneyville, Jamie and Chad Schrader of Virden, Jillian, Jenea and Jason Lunnemann of Pinckneyville, Isaac and Luke Davison of Du Quoin, brother- Julian Davison of Michigan, sister- Doris Johnson of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter- Linda Sue Davison, grandson- Lucas Davison, two brothers in infancy, four sisters- Mary Bailey, Bess Varnum, Marge Cavins, Blanche Caldwell.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.. The Rosary was recited at 9:30 A.M., Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment was in the Sacred Heart cemetery at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW Post 513.

Friends may make memorials to the Diabetes Association, Heart Association or the Sacred Heart cemetery.

Murrell Ray Mifflin
Murrell Ray Mifflin, 94, of Pinckneyville, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 11:25 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Mr. Mifflin had been a Coal Miner for over 30 years and was a member of the UMWA.

He was born June 12, 1907 at Johnson City, the son of Amos and Sarah (Pierson) Mifflin. He married Pauline Mary Flowers on August 27, 1927 in Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Mifflin of Pinckneyville; one son, Donald Ray Mifflin of DuQuoin; one daughter, Myrline Mifflin of Pinckneyville; one brother, Raymond Mifflin of Washington; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 4 at 10 a.m. at Old DuQuoin cemetery.

Neal-McClure Funeral Home of DuQuoin was in charge of the arrangements. Those attending services should have gone directly to the cemetery.

Joseph Norman Morris
Joseph Norman Morris, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:20 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Joe was a retired co-owner of Bianco Drug Store in Du Quoin for over 50 years. He was a registered pharmacist for 54 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and had been an administrative board member of the church and was a former church trustee. He was the Du Quoin Business Association Young Man of the Year in 1958 and was Man of the Year in 1989. He was a 28 year member of the board of directors of the Du Quoin National Bank. Joe had also served on the Perry County Housing Authority board.. He was president of the R.A.E. Organization Hospital Equipment. Joe was a member of the Du Quoin Elks Lodge, Du Quoin Eagles Lodge, Du Quoin Masonic Lodge, Shrine Ainad Temple of E. St. Louis, Du Quoin Lions Club. He was also a member of Du Quoin VFW Post 513 and Du Quoin American Legion Post 647. Joe was a US Army veteran of W.W, II serving as a medic with the 55th. Army Div.

He was born April 8, 1924 at Sunfield, IL the son of Lester Norman and Fleta (Terry) Morris.

He married Mary Lou Hofstetter on August 22, 1948 at Du Quoin, IL

Joe will be missed by his wife Mary Lou of Du Quoin, children- Yvonne Spencer and husband Craig of Du Quoin, Jeannie Burke and husband John of Du Quoin, Joseph N. Morris Jr. (Jay) and wife Vicki of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren- Alex Sauer, Max Burke, Holly Burke, Tony Burke, Sally Burke and Stacey Burke, sisters- Helen Pierce, Pat Wilks, Frances Bird and Marge Schenk all of Du Quoin, brother- Gene Morris of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Carol Marie.

Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti and Rev. Jerry Dunn officiating.

Friends called from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 10 A.M. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.

Friends may make memorials to the First United Methodist Church Youth or the Crusaders Sunday School Class.

Josephine Creech
Josephine Creech, 83, of Willisville, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away Friday, July 26, 2002 at 1:10 a.m. at Randolph County Nursing Home in Sparta.

Mrs. Creech had been a machine operator at St. Louis Pen Factory. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was born May 10, 1919 at DuQuoin, the daughter of John and Josephine (Krov) Liska. She married Cecil Ray Creech on July 19, 1937 at Charleston, Mo. and he preceded her in death on September 2, 1979.

Surviving are three sons, Melvin Don Creech of Tilden, Bobby Wayne Creech of Willisville and Edward Eugene Creech of St. Louis; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Lewis officiating. Interment was in Old DuQuoin cemetery.

Friends called at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home in DuQuoin on Sunday from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Lottie Mohr
We lovingly gave Lottie Mohr, age 93, of Pinckneyville, to the Lord, joining her husband, Oscar, on Sunday morning, June 16, 2002.

Lottie was born June 7, 1909 in Pinckneyville, the daughter of William W. and Cora Ellen (Bigham) Armstrong. She was united for over 68 years of marriage to Oscar Mohr on February 16, 1930 and he preceded her in death on July 9, 1998. She was a member of Galum Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved.

She is remembered by her daughter, Melba Smith and her husband Dan of El Cajon, Calif.; a son-in-law, John Husted of Tulsa, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as countless friends and extended family. Preceding her to heaven were one daughter, Roberta Husted; six brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were planned for Wednesday, June 19 at 11 a.m. in the Galum Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville with Reverend Tom Hobson officiating. Interment was in the Galum Presbyterian cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and again on the day of the funeral from 8 until 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Galum Presbyterian cemetery Association.

Virginia E. Kellerman
Virginia E. "Jean" Kellerman, age 93, of Pinckneyville died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at 1:35 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Skilled Care Unit.

Virginia was born in Perry County on July 12, 1908, the daughter of Peter and Frances (Poninski) Kujawa. She married Bernard H. Kellerman on September 14, 1926, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1981. During her lifetime, she was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todd's Mill, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a former member of their quilting club and altar society, and enjoyed bingo, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include five children: Virginia Bathon and husband Paul of Florissant, Mo., Edward L. Kellerman and wife LaVina of Pinckneyville, Louis W. Kellerman of Pinckneyville, Ray Allen Kellerman and wife Marlene of Du Quoin; Fran Sinn and husband Larry of Pinckneyville; 29 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Delores Kellerman of Pinckneyville and Jeanette "Jan" Kellerman of Pinckneyville; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Bert and Muriel, grandsons Ronald Bathon, Don Meier and John Anthony Kellerman, great-grandson Noel Kellerman, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2002 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todd's Mill with Fr. John Venegoni officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Friends called from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville. The rosary was recited at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Perry County, the American Kidney Fund or to the donor's choice.

Rebecca Gail Sanders
Rebecca Gail Sanders, 31, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:55 P.M., Friday, July 12, 2002 at her residence.

Rebecca was a homemaker and had worked at Wal-Mart and Casey's. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was born November 16, 1970 at Carbondale, IL the daughter of Ernest Eugene and Phyllis Ann (Lilley) Sanders.

She is survived by her life mate- Donel L. McManus of Du Quoin, daughter- Crystal D. McManus of Du Quoin, brother- Kevin Sanders of Advance, MO, niece- Amanda Sanders of St. Louis, MO, three step sisters, one step brother, numerous aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.

Friends called from 9 to 11 A.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Holts Prairie cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Friends may make memorials to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Maurice Eugene Longshore
Maurice Eugene "Corky" Longshore, 63, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at his residence.

Corky was a retired assembly line worker at General Motors. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a US Army veteran.

He was born November 2, 1938 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Howard Sherman and Blanche (Wheatley) Longshore.

He married Ina E. (Morrow) Heape on September 27, 1985 at Pinckneyville, IL and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, mother- Blanche Breeding of Du Quoin, children- Scott and Evie Longshore of Paw Paw, MI, Kimberly and Fred Allen of Paw Paw, MI, Kelly and John Schincariol of Portage, MI, grandchildren- Brian, Jacob and Ashley Longshore, Ricky and Stacey Allen, Sophia and Isabella Schincariol, step children- Roger Heape, Dennis and Susan Heape, Yvonne and Brian Bronke, several step grandchildren, sisters- Shirley and Dale Emling of Bella Vista, AR, Helen and Ken Minnick of Du Quoin, Ann Longshore of Cunningham, TN, brother- Leslie and Helen Longshore of Spokane, WA.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Old Du Quoin cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Byrl L. Rees
Byrl L. Rees, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:34 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Byrl was a retired coal miner working as a production foreman at Inland Steel Coal Mine. He was a member of the Spirit of Life Christian Church in Du Quoin. He was a member of the UMWofA, and the Elkville Seniors Billiards Club. He was a US Navy veteran of W.W. II. Byrl was a life member of Du Quoin VFW Post 513.

He was born November 21, 1920 at Elkville, IL the son of Goe E. and Pearl M. (Brown) Rees.

He married Catherine Williams on October 3, 1992 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, children- Larman Lavern Rees and wife Necie of Murphysboro, Jane Gray and husband Gene of Murphysboro, Sherry Mitchell and husband Mike of North Grafton, MA, step daughters- Marlene Kellerman of Du Quoin, Pat Stephens of Dowell, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren..

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-Scott Rees, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Gerald Wright and Bro. Jerry Aken officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association.

Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
