Robert David Dennison
Robert David Dennison, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:40 P.M., Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Robert was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin.

He was born December 13, 1923 in Perry County, IL, the son of Lucian John and Frances Cora (Davis) Stickles Dennison.

He is survived by one brother - Orville Dennison of Christopher, two sisters - Emma Sizemore and Mary Kilmer both of Du Quoin, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and seven sisters.

Funeral services were at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, October 20, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin.

Nancy Carole Swallers
Nancy Carole (Tink) Swallers, 70, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:10 P.M., Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Tink was a homemaker, retired Beautician, and worked at Turco Manufacturing. She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Du Quoin, VFW Auxiliary member and past President.

She was born November 13, 1931 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of Joe and Rose Marie (Pugh) Richerson.

She married Walter E. (Bud) Swallers on February 29, 1948 at Morganfield, KY and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one son - Joseph Leslie Swallers of Du Quoin, two daughters - Connie Jean Shryock of Orlando, FL and Tena Elaine Rennison of Du Quoin, two sisters - Virginia (Tom) Williams of Elkville and Jo Ann Siefert of Du Quoin, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son in infancy, one daughter in infancy, two sisters - Erma McClanahan and Genevieve Eaton.

Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. J.W. Fleming officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Fairview Nursing Center of Du Quoin.

Roger S. Rulevish
Roger S. Rulevish, 59, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:22 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

Roger had worked as a material handler at Sparta Printing Co. and was a farmer. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.

He was born December 22, 1942 at Tamaroa, IL the son of Sam and Caroline Rose ( Buretta) Rulevish.

He married Rita Mary Terveer on November 14, 1969 at St. Libory, IL, she passed away October 7, 1999.

He is survived by a son- Eric Rulevish and wife Dawn of Addieville, a daughter- Shelia Rulevish, two granddaughters- Erica Rulevish and Emmalee Chaney, three sisters- Florence Kozuscek of Nashville, Barb Hogshead of Belleville, Rita Musial of Centralia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother- Ralph Rulevish, sister- Bernadine Schindeler.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, the rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment was in the Immaculate Conception cemetery at Tamaroa.

Virginia Lee Valentine
Virginia Lee Valentine, age 61, of Pinckneyvlle, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 11:55 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Virginia was born in Pinckneyville on August 23, 1941, a daughter of Wilfred and Sarah Mae (McCrary) Owen Sr. She married Harold Lee Valentine on February 25, 1960 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Todd's Mill, and he survives. She loved to bowl, play bingo and worked as a clerk at Dollar General Stores.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Pinckneyville; two daughters, Sandy Buller and her husband, Chris, of Tamaroa, Cathy Valentine of Pinckneyville and her special friend, Mike George of Tamaroa; one brother, Wilfred Owen Jr. of Pincnkeyville; five sisters, Sarah Faye Jones and her husband, Jack, of Pinckneyville, Mary Ann Thomas and her husband, Don, of Pinckneyville, Melba Dunihoo and her husband, Frank, of Rice, Janet Harris and her husband, Tom, of DuQuoin and Shirley A. Risley of Swanwick; three grandchildren, Justin Valentine, Amber Frost and Michaela Valentine; two sisters-in-law, Lavon Owen and Dennise Owen, both of Pinckneyville and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Thomas H., Ernel Allen and William Dean Owen.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 2 at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville with Fr. John Venegoni officiating. Interment was in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic cemetery at Todd's Mill.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 until 9:30 a.m.

A prayer service was held at the funeral home on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville Ambulance Service.

Raymond G. Szczeblewski
Raymond G. (Ray) Szczeblewski, 83, of Tamaroa, passed away at 5:40 A.M., Friday, October 25, 2002 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville.

Ray was a retired farmer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

He was born April 23, 1919 at Tamaroa, IL, the son of John and Dorothy (Kucharski) Szczeblewski.

He married Edna Mae Cowley in August 1940 at Cape Girardeau, MO and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, two sons - Ronnie Szczblewski of Tamaroa and Roger Szczblewski of Tamaroa, two daughters - Delores Waligorski and husband Larry of Pinckneyville, Mary Ellen Bird and husband Orange of Pinckneyville, two daughters - Mildred Fisher of Tamaroa and Virginia Wisniewski of Tamaroa, one brother - Joe Szczblewski of Du Quoin, eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tamaroa with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Interment was in the Immaculate Conception cemetery in Tamaroa.

Rosary service was conducted at 7 P.M. Sunday at funeral home.

Friends may make memorials to the Immaculate Conception Church or Immaculate Conception cemetery.

Lowern C. Perryman
Lowern C. Perryman, 87, of Elkville, passed away at 11:30 P.M., Saturday, October 19, 2002 at his residence.

Lowern was a retired painter. He was of the protestant faith.

He was born December 6, 1914 at Pamona, IL the son of Austin and Mae (Hereford) Perryman.

He married Reba M. Correll on August 18, 1933 at Benton, KY, she passed away March 5, 1999.

He is survived by three daughters- Fay Barraclough of Elkville, Joan Cochran and husband Donald of Elkville, Sue Funk and husband Benny of Elkville, sister- Ruth Barnett of Elkville, tweleve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, five sisters, son-in-law- Lavell Wood and grandson- Robin Funk.

Funeral services were at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Brent Fitzgerald officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the Rick Warren Memorial Library in Elkville.

Opal Alene Wayer
Opal Alene Wayer, 74, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:40 P.M., Thursday, October 31, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Opal was van driver and site manager at Gold Plate for 13 years. She also had worked at Country Set and Forrest City Garment Companies, and at Essex. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin, Gold Plate, and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born October 2, 1928, at Raddle, IL, the daughter of Charles Edward and Lettie (Phillips) Ralston.

She married Alfred Wayer on January 23, 1960 at Pinckneyville, IL and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, one daughter - Jean Harris of Du Quoin, one brother - Carl Ralston of South Houston, TX, two grandsons - Kevin R. Harris and Shawn D. Harris of Du Quoin, two granddaughters - Rebecca K. Harris and Amy Kristen of Du Quoin, four great-grandsons - John R. Harris, Kevin R. Harris Jr., Tyler A. Stowers, and Devin A. Harris of Du Quoin, four great-granddaughters - Gena Rae Boss, Kayla Ann Boss, Melissa Marie Harris, and Megan Renae Kristen of Du Quoin, and a host of special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, nine brothers, and son-in-law John R. Harris.

Funeral services were at 1:30, Sunday, November 3, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Frank White officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

August A. Zmudzinski
August A. (Gus) Zmudzinski, 85, of Scheller, passed away at 5:40 A.M., Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Gus was a retired farmer and oil field pumper. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois. He was a member of the board of directors at Twin Co. Service Company, Perry Co. Farm Bureau board, and Perry Co. Taxpayers Association.

He was born February 26, 1917 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Frank and Martha (Kujawski) Zmudzinski.

He married Amanda Elizabeth Kabat on September 16, 1940 at Scheller, IL and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2001.

He is survived by two sons - Gerald Zmudzinski and wife Diane of Tamaroa, Gary Zmudzinski and wife Susan of Scheller, brother - Dominic D. Zmudzinski of DuBois, three sisters - Sophia Ratajczyk of Scheller, Tillie Czerwinski of Scheller, Salomae Hoffman of Ashley, sister-in-law - Dorothy Kujawa of Ashley, Grandchildren - Jill and Keith Kellerman, Gerald Zmudzinski Jr. & Dawn, Jeffrey Zmudzinski, Jessica and Mike Martin, Gary Zmudzinski Jr., Gregory Zmudzinski, Sarah Zmudzinski, great-grandchildren - Jordan and Amanda Kellerman, Timothy Zmudzinski, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister - Julia Kabat, and daughter-in-law - Judith (Kozuszek) Zmudzinski.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 25, 2002 at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Rosary was recited at 7 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery in DuBois.

Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Church or Renovation Fund.

Pearl Schweizer
Pearl Schweizer, age 76, of Pinckneyville, died Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 6:10 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Pearl was born on February 21, 1926 in Cary, Ky., a daughter of Robert and Polly (Tuttle) Holland. She married Traster Schweizer on November 22, 1944 in Richmond, Ind. and he survives. She was a tester at the former M.C.A. Records Factory in Pinckneyville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville and attended the First Pentecostal Church of Pinckneyville.

Survivors include her husband, Traster of Pinckneyville; two sons, Lewis T. and his wife, Louise, of Pinckneyville and Darrell G. and his wife, Shirley, of Swanwick; two daughters, Polly M. Zeigler and her husband, David, of O'Fallon and Cathy M. Schweizer of Carbondale; two brothers, George Holland of London, Ky. and Bobby Holland of Richmond, Ind.; two sisters, Rhoda Puterbaugh and Maggie Napier, both of Richmond, Ind.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 30 at 10:30 a.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville with Reverends Duane Bollinger and George Tharp officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Tuesday from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be made to the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Nursing Scholarship Fund or the Emphysema Association.

Brandon Lee Williams-Rose
Brandon Lee Williams-Rose, three weeks old, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Brandon was born in Carbondale September 19, 2002, the son of Dennis J. Rose and Samantha K. Williams.

In addition to his parents, surviving are his grandmother, Vickie Williams of DeSoto; grandfather, Robert Williams of Carterville; grandmother, Linda S. Henson of Pinckneyville; grandfather, Franklin D. Rose of DuQuoin; brother, Zakery Edward Michael Mueller of Pinckneyville and many loving aunts, close relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, October 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst with Pastor Clyde Dempsay officiating. Interment was in Blairsville cemetery.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until time of services on October 14 at Walker Funeral Home in Hurst.
