Albert J. Miller
Albert J. 'Ab' Miller, age 89, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away Thursday morning, February 27, 2003 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin, IL at 7:55 a.m.

Ab was born April 9, 1914, in rural Pinckneyville, IL the son of Louis J. and Rose (Schmidt) Miller. He was a member of the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, IL, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Pinckneyville, IL. and was a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau.

Ab is survived by a sister-in-law, Catherine Miller of DuQuoin, IL, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the Pyatt Community of Perry County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Clara Hottes and Emma Ford, and two brothers, Frank E. Miller and Louis J. Miller.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, March 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, IL with Msgr. Tom Miller officiating. Interment was in the St. Bruno Catholic cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, IL on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. The rosary was recited at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Memorials may be made to St. Bruno Church.

Jackye Bell Williams
Jackye Bell Williams, 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:20 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 2003 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Jackye was a retired LPN and had worked at Marshall Browning Hospital for twenty years. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary 127 Murphysboro, and AARP.

She was born December 26, 1926 at Herrin, IL, the daughter of Leo and Hazel (Grayhem) Hindman.

She married Earl Williams on September 10, 1970 at Widcliff, Kentucky and he preceded her in death in 1997.

She is survived by one daughter - Sue Greer and husband Andy of Coulterville, IL, one son - Steven Bell and wife Peg of Collierville, TN, six grandchildren - Kyle Bell, Derek Bell, Lindsay Greer, Jerrod Greer, Dylan Greer, and Kailey Greer, two brothers - Rex Hindman of Shelbyville, IN, and Raymond Hindman of Golf Breeze, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside services were at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at IOOF cemetery in Du Quoin with Rev. Raymond Baggott officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.

Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Gertie M. Fisher
Gertie M. Fisher 74, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 9:15 P.M., Friday, October 11, 2002 at the Skilled Care Unit of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Gertie was a homemaker and attended the Roe's Dale Baptist Church in Pinckneyville.

She was born November 17, 1927 at Coulterville, IL the daughter of Albert and Evie (Harrell) Rednour.

She married Marion Laverne Presswood in 1942 at Perryville, MO he passed away November 13, 1957, she then married Everett P. Fisher in 1977 at Pinckneyville, IL he passed away in 1990.

She is survived a son- Chuck Presswood of Pinckneyville, four daughters- Diane Lively of Pinckneyville, Sandy Rybacki of Pinckneyville, Sheila Rowland of Du Quoin, Cathy Metcalf of Chicago, two step daughters- Barbara and Carolyn, sister- Rosalie of Florida, special niece- Carrie Fann, fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers- Lyman, Otis and Joe Rednour and one infant brother, one grandchild, one great grandchild.

Per Mrs. Fisher's request cremation services were held.

There was no visitation or funeral service.

The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.

Friends may make memorials to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.

Maurice Lester Ward
Maurice Lester Ward, 82, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:15 A.M., Saturday, October 19, 2002 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.

Mr. Ward was a retired switch control operator for GTE Phone Company. He was of the protestant faith. He was a member of the Tamaroa Masonic Lodge # 207, Scottish Rites Valley of Southern Illinois, Ainad A.A.O.N.M.S. of E. St. Louis, IL.

He was born September 20, 1920 in Franklin County, IL the son of Maurice L. and Alpha (Bruce) Ward.

He is survived by a brother Walter Ward and wife Millie of Belleville, two sisters-in-law- Lillian Ward of Overland, MO and Margaret Ward of Benton, several nieces and nephews- Kenneth Ward of Bremerton, WA, Harold Ward of Texico, Ronald Ward of Tamaroa, David Ward of Whittington, Dale Ward of Akin, Steven Ward of Belleville, Scott Ward of Belleville, Sharon Allmond of Irving TX, Patty Schaffner of Florissant, MO, several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Russell and Mack Ward, one nephew, one great nephew, one great niece.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Raymond Baggott officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, Masonic services were held and 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Dix.

Friends may make memorials to the Tamaroa Masonic Lodge.

Martha E. Champ
Martha E. Champ, 91, of Centralia, passed away Friday, November 1, 2002 at 12:15 p.m. in Centralia Manor.

Mrs. Champ was a homemaker and a member of the Central City United Methodist Church where she taught the Adult Women Sunday School Class. She loved to travel to visit her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born February 22, 1911 in Elkville, the daughter of Joseph and Elsie (Vaughn) Power. She married Glenn J. Champ on July 26, 1930 at Springfield.

Surviving are her husband, Glenn J. Champ of Centralia; sons, David Champ and wife Jane of DePere, Wis. and Steve Champ and Wife Patricia of Alpharetta, Ga.; one sister, Imogene Quigley of Brookfield; grandchildren, John Laughhunn and wife Shelly of Gurnee, Eric Laughhunn and wife Joanie of Woodlawn, Michael Champ of Springfield, Va., Joe Champ and wife Patty of Ft. Collins, Colo., Kelly Champ and wife Jill of DePere, Wis., Elizabeth Champ of Los Angeles, Calif., Sarah Champ of Portland, Ore. and Rebekah Champ of St. Louis, Mo. and great-grandchildren, Alexis Laughhunn, Catheryn Champ, John Champ, Brianna Champ, Trevor Champ, Madeline Champ, Paige Laughhunn, Nicholas Champ and Theadore Champ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Martha Sue Laughhunn; son-in-law, Fred Laughhunn; brothers, Ralph Power and Howard Power and a sister, Gertrude Adkins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 5 at 10 a.m. at Central City United Methodist Church in Central City with Rev. Phillip Poe officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park at Centralia.

Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Garnier & Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.

Memorials in her honor may be made to the Central City United Methodist Church.

Frieda M. Reaves
Frieda M. Reaves, 88, of Louisville, Ill., passed away at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Ill.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Flora. Frieda's interests were her family, quilting, flowers and gardening.

Mrs. Reaves was born September 10, 1914 in Licking, Mo. the daughter of George and Bertha M. (Fehrenbacher) Kessler. She married Nova E. Reaves on December 22, 1934 in Houston, Mo.

Surviving are her husband, Nova Reaves of Louisville; two sons, Bruce Reaves of Elkville and Brice Reaves and wife Barbara of Elkville; grandchildren, Brian Reaves of Festus, Mo., Michelle Reaves of Belleville and Douglas Reaves of Belleville; three sisters, Helen Stewart and husband Vernon of Canyon City, Colo., Lena Dawkins of Louisville and Mary Frank of Flora; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Kessler of Louisville, Iona Kessler of Effingham and Nadine Wallace and husband Bill of Flora and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were Monday, October 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Flora with Msgr. Hyacinth Mazuchowski officiating. Interment was in St. Stephen's cemetery at Flora.

Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Elnora Jones
Elnora Jones, 78, of Mulkeytown, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 10:25 a.m. at her residence.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church.

She was born September 22, 1924 at Mulkeytown, the daughter of Fred and Lee (Eubanks) Kunkel. She married Gene Jones on July 25, 1942 and he survives.

Surviving are her children, Larry and Lucille Jones of Zeigler, Rita and Dwight Hitt of Mulkeytown, Gayla and Evan Sink of Mulkeytown; grandchildren, Michael and Shirley Jones, Lori Hubbard, Marsha Jones and fiance Tim Benson, Julie and Jay Hubbard, David and Audra Bates, Scott Bates, Vanessa Sink and Cory Hitt; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron and Cameron Jones, Jaron, Kasi and Kalyn Hubbard, Courtney Hubbard, Jenna Shadowens, Derych Bates and Jade and Peyton Bates and a sister, Betty and Don Fornear of Flora.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Sherri Jo Batson.

Funeral services were Thursday, December 19 at 1 p.m.a t Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher with Rev. David Morgan officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery in Sesser.

Friends called after 6 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Olah A. Bowser
Olah A. Bowser, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:30 P.M., Thursday, December 5, 2002 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Olah was a retired nursery aide. She was of the Protestant faith.

She was born November 16, 1914 at Mt. Calm, MI, the daughter of James Martin and Maude (Preisly) Barger.

She married Perry G. Bowser on August 20, 1932 at Mt. Calm, MI and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2000.

She is survived by one daughter - Twila K. Eno of Las Vegas, NV, one son - Justin M. Bowser of Crowley, TX, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 9, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.

Friends called from 10 to 11 A.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Jacob H. Lunnemann
Jacob H. 'Jake' Lunnemann, age 84, of rural Pinckneyville, IL, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002 4:50 p.m. with his family members by his side in St. Mary's Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Jacob was born December 4, 1917, at his home in Pinckneyville, IL the son of Henry and Theresa (Todd) Lunnemann. He was united in marriage to Helen B. Yung on October 25, 1941, in Pinckneyville, IL. Jacob was a retired farmer, a profession he enjoyed most of his life. He was also a member of the St. Bruno Catholic Church in Pinckneyville, IL, a member of the K. of C. in Pinckneyville, and a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau. He also served on the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Board for many years.

Jacob is survived by his wife, Helen of Pinckneyville, IL, one son, Jim Lunnemann and his wife Julie of Pinckneyville, IL, two daughters, Judy Backhus and her husband George of Belleville, IL, and Donna Fedderke and her husband Stanley of Pinckneyville, IL, eight grandchildren, Stephen Backhus of Tampa, FL, Jennifer (Lunnemann) Robb and husband Richard of Pinckneyville, IL, Jamie (Lunnemann) Schrader and husband Chad of Girard, IL, Christine Backhus of Belleville, IL, Jillian Lunnemann of Champaign, IL, Jenea Lunnemann of Champaign, IL, Darren Bumann of Pinckneyville, IL, and Jason Lunnemann of Pinckneyville, IL, and one great grandson, Tanner Backhus of Belleville, IL. He is also survived by one brother, Leroy Lunnemann and wife Eleanor of Pinckneyville, IL, one sister-in-law, Gladys Roberson and husband Arthur of Baldwin, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Anna Marie Lunnemann, and two brothers, James and William Lunnemann.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, with Fr. John Venegoni officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL.

Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. A rosary was said at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
