Elsie Vandermeer
Elsie Vandermeer, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:30a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003, at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Elsie was a retired dancer.
She was born May 10, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Litinski) Kinovsky.
She married Harry Vandermeer on April 1, 1936 at Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2000.
She is survived by one daughter-Cass VanDermeer, of Du Quoin, one son-John Harry Vandermeer and wife Ivette of Ann Arbor, Michigan, two grandsons-Jason Vandermeer and wife Erin of Lansing, Michigan, and Kiko Moralis of New York City, one brother-Frank Kane of Cottonwood, Arizona, dear friends-Bruce Appleby, Janel Taylor, Sarah Potter, Basil Spiropolous, and Loretta Schneider.
There was a memorial gathering at Elsie's apartment at 6:00p.m., on Thursday, March 13, 2003.
The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.

Aurelia C. Barnes
Aurelia C. Barnes, nee Mueller, 91, of Pinckneyville, formerly of Belleville and Oakdale, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mrs. Barnes was born November 17, 1920 in Belleville, the daughter of Henry and Whileminia (Forcade) Mueller. She married Lester Barnes on September 1, 1929 and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of Home Extension in Washington County.
Surviving are a son, Robert (Eileen) Barnes of Swansea; a daughter, Jeanette (Jack) Carlson of Pinckneyville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Friday, October 25 at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home in Belleville with Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. Burial was in Lake View Memorial Gardens at Fairview Heights.
Friends called from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home in Belleville.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Emma Elizabeth Beetley
Emma Elizabeth Beetley, age 88, of Swanwick, died in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital on Sunday, October 20, 2002 at 1:50 p.m.
Emma was born on April 19, 1914 in Mapleton, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Clemack) Kocian. She married Edward Beetley on December 22, 1933 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Swanwick area. Emma attended the Potter House Christian Center in Sparta.
Survivors include two sons, Albert Frank Beetley and wife Lori of Baldwin and Ivan Beetley and wife Janet of Pinckneyville; two daughters, Clarabel Woodside of Pinckneyville and Lila Florkowski and husband Richard of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Marie M. Frakes of Galesburg and Pauline Cometto and husband Joe of Coulterville; a sister-in-law, Viola Kocian of Swanwick; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Edmund, Paul and Joe Kocian.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville with Pastor Chuck Haynes officiating. Interment was in the Swanwick Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Tuesday, October 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until services.
Memorial donations may be given to the Pinckneyville Healthcare Center.

James Robert Bilderback
James Robert Bilderback, 58, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:15 A.M., Thursday, October 3, 2002 at his residence.
James was the owner-operator of B & B Pawn Shop in Du Quoin. He had worked for General Motors and sales of CMI equipment in mining. He had owned Trader Jim's Restaurant in Marissa, Wye Market Grocery Store in Marissa, TJ's Restaurant in Sparta, and Brandy's Bar & Grill in Sparta. He had worked for H.R. Chevrolet of Lenzburg and Svanda Chevrolet of Sparta. He was a member of Old Du Quoin Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Ainad Shrine Temple, Du Quoin American Legion, Masonic Lodge 881, Du Quoin VFW, Du Quoin Elks Lodge, Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce.
He was born July 15, 1944 at Sunnydale, UT, the son of Samuel and Lucille (Welch) Bilderback.
He married Debra Harsy on September 30, 2002 at Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, daughter - Leslie Anne Bilderback of Sparta, mother - Lucille Bilderback of Alva, FL, stepdaughter - Amy Wright of Du Quoin, stepson - Austin Lee of Du Quoin, sister - Barbara Hodges and husband Edmond of Marissa, one step granddaughter - Chacy Sizemore.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother - Samuel Bilderback and one infant sister - Patsy Bilderback.
Memorial services were at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.
Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.
Friends may make memorials to Old Du Quoin Baptist Church.

Bonita Dasher
Bonita Dasher, 63, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:00 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2002 at the home of her daughter.
Bonita had been at cook at the Perfection Club for fifteen years and had worked at Blazon and Essex. She was a Baptist.
She was born December 7, 1938 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of Louis and Opal (Craig) Russell.
She married Donald Lee Dasher on May 28, 1964 at Rolla, MO and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, mother- Opal Vaughn of Elkville, children- Henrietta Melvin of Du Quoin, Herschel Fisher, Mike Fisher, Robbie Fisher and John Fisher all of Chicago, Randy Fisher of San Diego, CA, Donald Dasher Jr. of Pinckneyville, step son- John Lee Dasher of Alabama, two brothers- Louis Donald Russell of Mississippi, Leo Russell of Du Quoin, sister- Damon Ledford of Georgia, nineteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Graveside services were at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Old Du Quoin Cemetery with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating.
Friends called from 9 A.M. until time of service at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery.
Friends may make memorials to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Shirley A. Degenhardt
Shirley A. Degenhardt, 67, of Du Quoin, passed away at 8:22 A.M., Thursday, October 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Shirley was a homemaker and managed Degenhardt Paint Store for several years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Du Quoin, Du Quoin Public Library Board Member for several years, and a member of the Perry County Historical Society and A-WA-WE-GO Campers..
She was born March 24, 1935 at St. Johns, IL, the daughter of Fred A. and Alma V. (Scarborough) Knight.
She married Derrell Gene Degenhardt on May 30, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, two daughters - Diana Riley of Cotter, AR and Cathryn Wunder of Apalachin, NY, one son - Stephen Degenhardt of South Easton, MA, one brother - Sidney Fred Knight of Bourbonnais, IL, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society.
