Louise T. Schubert
Louise T. Schubert, 69, of Tamaroa, passed away at 11:40 P.M., Monday, November 18, 2002 at the Humble Heath Care Center in Humble, TX.
Louise was a retired elementary school teacher who began her teaching career in 1951 and taught at Sacred Heart School in Du Quoin for nine years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa.
She was born August 19, 1933 at Tamaroa, IL, the daughter of Joseph J. and Theresa E. (Stiens) Schubert.
She is survived by one sister - Mary Springer of Humble, TX, two brothers - Andrew Schubert and Mike Schubert both of Tamaroa, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 22, 2002 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo and Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Rosary service was conducted at 7 P.M. at the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment was in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Tamaroa.
Friends may make memorials to masses or donor's choice.

Bobby T. Spurlock
Bobby T. Spurlock Sr., 62, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:14 P.M., Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Bobby was a retired coal miner from Ayrshire Coal Company, Chandler, IN. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was born May 25, 1940 at Franklin, KY, the son of John T. and Sue M. (Fowler) Spurlock.
He married Clara Joann Ridgeway on April 22, 1967 at Du Quoin, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons - Bobby Thomas Spurlock Jr. and wife Renee of Chandler, IN and Kevin Earnest Spurlock and wife Regina of Tamaroa, four sisters - Carolyn Morgan of Du Quoin, Dorothy (Dottie) Ridgeway and husband Charles of Du Quoin, Sheila James and husband Alan of Du Quoin, and Sondra Struck and husband Bobby of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, three aunts - Mildred Shaw of Kentucky, Jean Travelstead of Kentucky, and Thelma Spurlock of Tennessee, one uncle - Paul Esque of Indiana, one special aunt - Geraldine Crowder of Arkansas, nine grandchildren - Kevin Wayne, Brandi Faye, Sean Logan, Brittany Renee, Alexandria Lynn, Thomas Jo, Maggie Mae, Tyler Wayne, and Mandi Jo, mother-in-law - Clara Mae Ridgeway of Pinckneyville, and many nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, November 24, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Darrell Porter officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Lung Association.

Jeanette P. Stamper
Jeanette P. Stamper, 81, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:50 A.M., Sunday, November 24, 2002 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin. She had made her home there for the past ten years.
She was a retired dental assistant and had worked for twenty years for the McDowell County Health Department. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was born March 29, 1921 at Davy, W. VA., the daughter of Hobert and Oma (Lowe) Mann.
She married Wirt R. Stamper on July 5, 1938 at Caples, W.VA. , he passed away February 19, 1984.
Jeanette is survived by five children- Rita Cook and husband Jerry of Du Quoin, Roger Stamper and wife Nita and their family of Welch West, VA, Frank Stamper and wife Sandra and their family of Salem, VA, Jimmy Stamper and Son, Sam Stamper and his wife Ann and their family of Crystal River, FL, two brothers- Bob Mann of Crystal River, FL, J.D. Mann of North Carolina, sister- Geneva McGann of Sophia, W.VA., three grandsons- Jerry Cook Jr. and wife Leeann (Hutson) and children, Nick, Sam and Maggie of Nashville, IL, Jeffrey Cook and wife Lisa (Rains) and children Cameryn, Carleigh and Spencer of Du Quoin, IL, Timothy R. Cook and wife Janice (Helton) and children Dylan and Lexie of Marion, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother - Jack Mann and one sister- Patricia Mann.
Funeral services were at the Stricklan Funeral Home in Crystal River, FL.
Interment was in the Crystal River Memorial Cemetery at Crystal River, FL.
The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 699 West Main St., Du Quoin, IL or to the donors choice.

Myrtle Marie Swain
Myrtle Marie Swain, 99, of Elkville, passed away at 3:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at the Marion Memorial Hospital in Marion.
Myrtle was a homemaker and a member of Elkville United Methodist Church and DeSoto Eastern Star. She enjoyed flower gardening.
She was born on May 21, 1903 in Jackson County, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel E. and Lillie Alice (Fegley) Graeff.
She married Raymond Edward Swain on September 6, 1926 in Murphysboro, IL and he preceded her in death on September 20, 1974.
She is survived by one step-daughter-in-law - Eileen Swain of Edwardsville, IL, three grandsons - Carl Swain, Richard Swain and Paul Swain, all of California, two sisters - Golda Graeff of Johnston City, IL and Lillian Graeff of Benton, IL, one niece - Beverly Mandrell of Benton, IL, and one nephew - Clarence Graeff of Elkville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother - Cecil Graeff, four sisters - Beulah Minor, Ruth Graeff, Dorothy Graeff, and Cecelia Graeff, and one step-son - Bernard Swain.
Funeral services were at 3 P.M., Sunday, November 17, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Daryl Williams officiating.
Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.
Friends called from 2 to 3 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Elkville United Methodist Church.

Helaen Eaton Taylor
Helen Eaton Taylor, 82, of Indianapolis, Ind., passed away Sunday, November 10, 2002 at her home.
Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of the East 91st Christian Church.
Surviving are her son, Richard D. Taylor; daughter, Linda C. Catt; brother, Merwin Eaton; sister, Ruth Wright and two granchildren, David M. Taylor and Trent A. Steed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar H. Taylor.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 14 at 11 a.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center at Washington Park East in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Friends called Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Center.
Interment was in Washington Park East.
Memorials may be made to the Rotary Foundation.

Richard Wayne Wheatley
Richard Wayne Wheatley, 67, Sesser, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 6:25 a.m. at Parkview Care Center in West Frankfort.
Mr. Wheatley was a Coal Miner and of the Baptist Faith. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Sesser. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
He was born September 6, 1935 in DuQuoin, the son of Dean and Josephine Wheatley. He married Janice Illeen Martin and she preceded him in death on February 13, 2001.
Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Frankie Wheatley of Valier; two sons, James Wright of Sesser and John Wright of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren, Arielle Wheatley, John Wheatley, Krista Furlow, Neika Wright and Monica Wright; four brothers and one sister.
He was preceded in death by one son, Shane Wheatley and one brother.
Funeral services were Tuesday, November 5 at 1 p.m. at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser with Bro. Woody Wilson officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Friends called after 6 p.m. Monday at Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser.
