Mildred Ing Norris
Mildred Ing Norris, 95, of DuQuoin, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Dune 13, 1999 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
Mildred was a homemaker and a member of the DuQuoin Church of Christ. She also attended county grade schools and attended high school in Centralia and DuQuoin.
She was born July 9, 1903 at Tamaroa, the daughter of John M. and Rebecca (Marlow) Ing. She married Hardy Norris on January 16, 1948 at Santa Rosa, CA and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1981.
She is survived by one grandson, Mark Norris and wife Joan of Destin, FL; great-granddaughters, Stacey Allen and Lesley Phillips, both of Destin, FL and Julie and Jennifer Biggs; great-great-grandson, Brice Allen of Destin, FL and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17 at 10 a.m. at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Wayne U. Dinkins officiating.
Interment was in the Old DuQuoin Cemetery.

Berniece Marie Porro
Berniece Marie Porro, age 89, of Zeigler, died Sunday, June 20, 1999 at 9:50 a.m. at the Herrin Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1910 in Franklin County to Mike and Sarah (Williams) Cockrum.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Bill Ellis of DuQuoin, JoAnn and John Slack of Zeigler, Sarah and Floyd Bean of Mt. Vernon and Kathy and Delbert Hankins of Johnston City; 12 grandchildren, David O’Rourke, Mary Furlow, Michael Reddy, JoAnn Howard, Vicki Bell, Jeanne Manis, John Reddy, Lynne Bevis, Tim Hankins, Laurie Bishop, Jon Hankins and Tony Kendrick; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren and nine step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mike and two sisters, Mary Dethrow and Bea Larreau.
Mrs. Porro was a 50 year member of the Royal Neighbors Association, a member of the Illinois Garment Workers Retirement Club, a member of the Zeigler First Baptist Church and retired from Smoller Brothers in Herrin in 1977.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend James Kerley officiating. Burial was in Zeigler Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Stanley Prusacki
Stanley Prusacki, 76, of DuQuoin, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999 at 7:15 p.m. at his residence.
Mr. Pruscacki was Machinist & Operator. He had lived in DuQuoin since 1979. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mr. Prusacki was born July 14, 1922 at Ball Hill Township in Jefferson County, the son of Stanley Prusacki, Sr. and Frances Suchomski.
Surviving are four sons, Stanley Prusacki of Independance, MO, John Prusacki of Edwardsville, IL, Christopher Prusacki of Barnhart, MO and Anthony Prusacki of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Mary Frances Ditter of Barnhart, MO and Leah B. Prusacki of Imperial, MO and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Fr. Daniel Jurek officiating.
Interment was in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Tamaroa.

Opal Skidmore
Opal Skidmore, 87, of Norfolk, Neb., formerly of DuQuoin, passed away Monday, June 7, 1999 at the St. Joseph Nursing Home in Norfolk, Neb.
She was born March 13, 1912 at Frametown, W. Va., the daughter of Houston and Sylvia (Boyce) Rollyson. She attended school in Frametown.
She married Charles Skidmore on July 2, 1934 at Wellsburg, W.Va. and he preceded her in death in 1992. The couple lived in West Virginia, Wyoming and Illinois. She moved to Norfolk in 1993 and had been a resident of St. Joseph Nursing Home for five years.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Skidmore and wife Sharon of Norfolk, Neb. and Phillip Skidmore of Wellsburg, W. Va.; two sisters, Elsie Bode of Auburn, W. Va. and Orpha Stonestrut of Spencer, W. Va; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Park in DuQuoin with Rev. Wallace Watson officiating.
The Searby Funeral Home of DuQuoin was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park.

Alta Gayl Waldron
Alta Gayl Waldron, of Carbondale, formerly of Sparta, passed away at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale on June 12, 1999 at the age of 79.
She was born in Steeleville on December 1, 1919, the daughter of Edward Paul and Sadie (Williamson) Becker. She married Billie R. Waldron on December 18, 1937 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1995.
Gayl was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale and a member of the K.Z. Chapter of P.E.O. She worked for many years as a retail clerk and as an Avon Sales Lady and was a member of their President’s Club.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Waldron and wife Sandra of Sun Lakes, AZ, Ed Waldron and wife Susan of Tampa, FL and Terry Waldron and wife Diane of Sparta; one sister Emma Kathryn Simonds of Carbondale; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Edward Paul Becker in infancy.
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Carbondale in Carbondale on Wednesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Paddon and Rev. Chad Neal officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Carterville. Pyatt Funeral Home of Pinckneyville was in charge of services.
Memorials may be made to the P.E. O. Program for Continuing Education or First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale.

Emil H. Mossa
Emil H. Mossa, 71, of DuBois, died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, June 7, 1999 at the Skilled Care Unit of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Born in Madison, IL on Wednesday, May 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Sam and Katherine (Cygan) Mossa. He was employed as a Security Officer at DuQuoin State Fair. He was also a retired Teamster.
He was the husband of Helen JoAnn (Linze) Mossa. They were married June 14, 1958 at Todds Mill, IL. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois. He served in the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the US Army. He was a life-member of the K of C Hall in DuBois and belonged to the Ashley Sportsman Club and AARP.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Emil Steven (Shirley) Mossa of Breese, IL; son, Tony (Sheri) Mossa of DuBois; sister, Amelia Stroud of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Josephine Ksycki of DuBois; brother, Al (Lucille) Mossa of Madison, IL; brother, Ed (Neva) Mossa of Columbus, OH and four grandchildren, Travis, Cortney, Bailey and Mariah Mossa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tony.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999 with Fr. Daniel Jurek officiating.
Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery in DuBois.
Family requests donations to St. Charles Renovation Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Jared Ryan Morris
Jared Ryan Morris, of DuBois, died due to injuries sustained as a result of an automobile accident in rural Nashville on Sunday, June 6, 1999. He was 19.
Jared was born on January 31, 1980 in Centralia, the son of Terry R. and Tanya (Womble) Morris.
Jared was a student at Kaskaskia College in Centralia. He was a 1998 graduate of Nashville Community High School. While in high school, Jared participated in football and track and field. He was a member of the 1998 State Champion Nashville Hornets Track Team.
Left to mourn his passing are his father and stepmother, Terry and Jennifer Morris of DuBois; his mother and stepfather, Tanya and Vern Drake of Hoyleton; three brothers, Garrett, Justin and Jace Morris, all of DuBois; paternal grandparents, Enoch and Madalyn Morris, also of Dubois; maternal grandparents, Harold and Nancy Womble of Madisonville, TN; step grandparents, Eddie and Dorothy Lacey of Mt.Vernon; special friend Mandi Harre and special family friends, Pat and Carla Povolish and their children Casey, Josh and Jesse and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relations and many friends.
He was preceded in death by an uncle, Gary Morris.Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church in DuBois on Wednesday, June 9 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Dan Jurek officiating. Interment wias in the church cemetery.
A private, family Rosary service was held.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or to the Nashville Hornets Track and Field Foundation. Donations will be accepted at the Campagna Funeral Home of Nashville.
