Lorraine Ozburn
Lorraine Ozburn, age 88, of Pinckneyville, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 7:50 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
She was born August 17, 1915 in Du Quoin, a daughter of Bryan and Irene (Marlow) Eaton. She was united in marriage to Howard W. Ozburn on November 1, 1939 in Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1978. Lorraine was a homemaker and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Pinckneyville. She enjoyed quilting, reading and watching sports.
Survivors include two sons, Bill and wife Mary Lou of Pinckneyville and Donald and wife Sandy of Winnebago; three grandsons, Todd Engels, David Ozburn and wife Melanie and Michael Ozburn and wife Mary Hadley; two granddaughters, Lynn Huffhine and husband William and Susan Campbell and husband Wade; six great-grandchildren, Kirstin and Brita Engels, Jessica, Zachariah and Nathanael Ozburn and Henry Campbell; two sisters, Virginia McCrary and Geneva Helvey and husband Harold, all of Pinckneyville, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard and a great-grandson in infancy.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 30 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pinckneyville with Rev. Mark Lee officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Friday, August 29 from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 until 9 a.m., then at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Frieda A. McMurray
Frieda A. McMurray, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:10 P.M., Monday, August 4, 2003 at Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Frieda was a homemaker. She also worked at Marshall Browning Hospital and Turco. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin and Friendly Bible Sunday School Class.
She was born October 25, 1911 at Hallidayboro, IL, the daughter of John and Lutie (Bourland) Murphy.
She married Gilbert C. McMurray on June 7, 1931 at Pinckneyville, IL and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1982.
She is survived by one son - Gilbert L. McMurray and wife Betty of Rialto, CA, one daughter - Janet Woodsides Ford of Naperville, IL, one son-in-law - Ralph Hemmer and wife Sharon of Du Quoin, one sister - Mary Schwerer of Peoria, IL, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Shirley Hemmer, one brother, two sisters, and one grandson.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2003 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to First United Methodist Church of Du Quoin.

Clara Teresa McLain
Clara Teresa McLain, 89, of Du Quoin, entered eternal rest on Friday, August 15, 2003 at 1:45 A.M. at Fair Acres Nursing Home where she had been a resident for one week.
She was born in rural Perry County on May 5, 1914, the daughter of John and Pelagia (Boczek) Przygoda. She was united in marriage to Wilford McLain on October 30, 1939 at Sacred Heart Church in Du Quoin, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Jane and husband Earl Dean (Skip) Crain of Pinckneyville, grandsons Timothy Keene of Ballwin, MO; Patrick Keene and wife Karyn and great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace of O'Fallon, IL; step-granddaughter, Melissa Kellerman and husband Barry of Pinckneyville. Daughter Doris and husband Richard Rottschalk of Du Quoin, granddaughter Jane Cohlmeyer and husband Robert and great granddaughters, Abigail Clare and Brenna Louise of O'Fallon, IL; grandson John Rottschalk and wife Jennifer of Fairview Heights, IL; granddaughter Julie Baker and great granddaughter McLain Tate Baker. A sister, Julia Preston of Du Quoin, also survives her.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers; Stanley, John, Casimir, Leo, Joseph, Daniel, and Paul and Ralph in childhood; three sisters Sister M. Theobald, SSND, Frances Andrews, Catherine Ries, in addition to her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, August 18, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 P.M., Sunday evening at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary was prayed at 9:30 A.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Du Quoin.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life, where she was a nurse for many years.

William Clay Lacy
William Clay (Bill) Lacy, age 82, of Pinckneyville, IL, died on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at 4:20 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, IL.
He was born in Pinckneyville, IL, on January 1, 1921 the son of John Guy and Bertha R. (McDonnough) Lacy. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Fisher on November 18, 1950 in Pinckneyville, IL, and she survives.
Bill worked for the Operating Engineers Local #520. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, and also a member of the American Legion. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force. He served during World War II and was a tailgunner on the B17 with the 306th Bombardment Group.
Survivors include his wife: Barbara of Pinckneyville, one sister: Catherine C. Eisenhauer of Pinckneyville, four sisters-in-law: Nedra E. Lacy and Ruth Fisher both of Pinckneyville, Carolyn Bliss of Sapulpa, OK, and Erma Cooper of Arena, WI, and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Charles C. Lacy and J. Harry Lacy.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 14, 2003, from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, August 15, 2003 from 8:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, and then at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville from 9:30 a.m. till the time of service.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, August 15, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church or the J.D. Jenkel Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Hilda Marie Kuhnert
Hilda Marie Kuhnert, age 90, formerly of Cutler, IL, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 9:08 p.m. in Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin, IL.
Hilda was born in Pinckneyville, IL on December 19, 1912, a daughter of John and Emma (Tieman) Tanner. She attended the First Baptist Church, Cutler, a member of the Cutler Senior Citizens, enjoyed quilting, working in the garden and attending church.
Hilda married John J. Kuhnert on January 20, 1931 in Benton, IL and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2002.
Survivors include a brother: Vernie Tanner of Oakland, IL, a sister: Mildred Gregory, and her husband, Jim, of Pinckneyville, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two daughters-in-law: Linda Kuhnert of Sparta, IL and Jane Kuhnert of Cutler, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Wanda Lee Hahs, grandson: Kurt Hahs, two sons: Jerry James Kuhnert and Randall Rex Kuhnert, four brothers: William, Clarence, Lester, and Nelson Tanner, three sisters: Ida Mae "McCall" Graves, Edna Hill, and Lillian Eichholz.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, with Rev. Wes Henson officiating. Interment was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.
Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Cutler Senior Citizens.

Audrey Opal Koss
Audrey Opal Koss, 99, of Woodstock, Ill., formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the home of her niece in Woodstock.
Mrs. Koss was born February 20, 1904 in Du Quoin, the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle (Brown) Marlow. She married Martin Milton Koss on August 23, 1921 at Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1993.
Surviving are one niece, Lulu Belle Pierce of Woodstock and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and five brothers.
Graveside services were held Friday, August 8 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating. Burial will follow.
Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.
The Neal-McClure Funeral Home in Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.
