Pauline Belle Gentz
Pauline Belle Gentz, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at her residence.

Pauline was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin.

She was born May 3, 1932 at Du Quoin, IL the daughter of Paul E. and Nora (Hamilton) Gentz.

She was married to Robert A. Eisenhauer.

She is survived by five children- Joyce Kirkpatrick and husband Bill of Du Quoin, Brenda Wright and husband Clayton of Pinckneyville, Glenn Eisenhauer and wife Debbie of Pinckneyville, Gary Eisenhauer and wife Lorie of Du Quoin, Shirley Ferguson and husband Tom of Du Quoin, brother- Harold Gentz and wife Patsy of Aviston, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 31, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Keith Filer officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life.

Robert Hutson
Robert 'Bob' Hutson, age 72, of Harkers Island, North Carolina, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away December 28, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Cathy Jo Hutson of Raleigh, N.C.; sons, Michael Hutson of Otisville, Mich., Mark Hutson of Livonia, Mich. and Robert Hutson of Selma, N.C.; brother, Larry Hutson of DuQuoin; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Memorial services were held January 1, 2002 at Straits United Methodist Church in Harkers Island, N.C.

Mildred E. McDonald
Mildred E. Mc Donald, nee Flure, 77, of Freeburg, Ill. was born April 13, 1924 in Todds Mill, Ill. and died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002 at her residence.

Mrs. Mc Donald was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, Ill.

Mrs. Mc Donald was preceded in death by her husband, George Mc Donald, who she married September 29, 1951 and who died January 3, 1974; her parents, Frank and Lena, nee Kurtz, Flure; and three sisters, Annabelle Hagene, Isabelle Bruns and Clara Mae Heisner.

Surviving are two sons: Tony Mc Donald and wife Lisa of Freeburg, Ill. and Bob Mc Donald and wife Jane of Freeburg, Ill.; two daughters, Pat Mc Donald of New Athens, Ill. and Jan Mc Donald of Freeburg, Ill.; a sister, Alene Steinman of St. Louis, Mo; three grandchildren, Christy (Ron) Waters, Eric Mc Donald and George Mc Donald; and three great grandchildren, Sam, Jake and Lauren Waters.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeburg, Ill.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002 at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home of Freeburg, Ill. The funeral procession left at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeburg with Monsignor Ted Baumann officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery of Du Quoin.

Aldeen Downen
Aldeen Downen, 83, DuQuoin, passed away at 10 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Marshall Browning Hospital.

Mrs. Downen was a homemaker and a member of First United Pentecostal Church.

She was born July 16, 1918 at West Frankfort, the daughter of Halcie James and Minnie Agnes (Williams) Sanders. She married Lee Olen Downen on October 22, 1938 at St. Genevieve, Mo.

Surviving are three sons: Virgil Lee Downen of Centralia, Michael James Downen of DuQuoin and Olen Patrick Downen of Sesser; three daughters: Marcia Lynn Fox of DuQuoin, Harriette Ann Taylor of Sesser and Holly Jane Hall of Wood River; two brothers: Spencer Sanders of Denver, Colo. and Bob Sanders of Benton; one sister: Harriette Goldfield of Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Dena Lou Lively; one grandson and one sister.

Funeral services were Saturday, February 9 at 10 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. C.L. McKinnies officiating. Interment was in Tower Heights cemetery at West Frankfort.

Friends called at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Friday, February 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until time of services.

Florence G. McAllister
Florence G. McAllister, 85, of Henderson, Nev., passed away Thursday, January 3, 2002 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nev.

She was born May 1, 1917 to Thomas and Flicitas 'Flitza' (Keim) Johnson in DuQuoin. She was married to Eugene E. McAllister, who preceded her in death in 1978.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Genie and George Zappanti of Henderson, Nev. and Gayl and Sam Ortiz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Blanche C. Philbrick and one brother, Jesse Clayton Johnson.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

She was cremated and there was a service in Logan, New Mexico during the summer.

Fred Muehleman
Fred Muehleman, 89, of DuQuoin, passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at 1:17 p.m. at Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.

Mr. Muehleman had been a Weigh Master for United Electric Coal Co. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of DuQuoin American Legion Post 647 and the DuQuoin Elks.

He was born June 23, 1912 at Chicago, the son of Fred C. and Katy (Kaiser) Muehleman Sr. He married Catherine Lorraine Kelley on December 7, 1946 at DuQuoin and she preceded him in death on July 31, 1989.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Bonnie Muehleman of Aurora; two brothers, Lester Muehleman of Des Plaines and Melvin Muehleman of Skokie; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister.

Funeral services were Thursday, January 24 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Lewis officiating. Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at DuQuoin.

Visitation was at Neal-McClure Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until time of service.

Roy Herbert Moody
Roy Herbert "Hub" Moody, 94, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:05 P.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Hub was a retired mechanic and supervisor at Midwest and Coca Cola Bottling Company for fifty years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.

He was born December 31, 1907 at Du Quoin, IL the son of Edward and Gay (Thing) Moody.

He married Lorene Kelley on July 6, 1941 at Cape Girardeau, MO, she passed away June 27, 1999.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters- Carol Jane and Kathy Jean, brother-Norman Moody.

Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 26, 2002 at the Old Du Quoin cemetery with Rev. John Somers and Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.

Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in the Old Du Quoin cemetery.

Mary E. McMurray
Mary E. McMurray, 39, of Dowell, passed away at 6:40 A.M., Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Mary was office manager at the Du Quoin Beauty College. She was of the Catholic faith.

She was born September 6, 1962 at Omaha, NE the daughter of John and Betty (Megede) Kirby.

She married David A. McMurray on October 1, 1994 at Murphysboro and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Dowell, two daughters- Stevie Lynn Alleman of Carbondale, Niki Jo McMurray of Dowell, sister- Kate Pfeifer of Decatur, four brothers- Michael Kirby of Joplin, MO, John Kirby of Lawrence, Kan., Joe Kirby of Reading, Kan., Matt Kirby of Manhattan, Kan., several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 9, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Interment was in the IOOF cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the family or to a trust for daughter Niki Jo Mc Murray.

Mary P. Licata
Mary P. Licata, 95, of DuQuoin, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2002 at Fair Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Licata was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She was born November 25, 1906 at Poregiorallia, Italy, the daughter of Leo and Antonia (Selvaggio) Pizzolato. She married Antonio Licata on May 8, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo. and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1955.

Surviving are a son, Jack J. (Betty) Licata of DuQuoin and a daughter, Mary (Angelo) Ingrassia of Moscow Mills, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.

Funeral Mass was Monday, February 25 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Msgr. Harry J. Jerome officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery.

Friends called Sunday after 6 p.m. and Monday until 9 a.m. at Maxton Funeral Home. The Rosary was said at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Maxton Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Anna J. Walters
Anna J. Walters, 97, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:35 P.M., Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Anna was a homemaker and a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin.

She was born February 2, 1904 in Jackson County, IL the daughter of August and Anna (Heidmann) Rosenberger.

She married Herman B. (Banta) Walters on February 2, 1924 at Murphysboro, IL he passed away June 30, 1981.

She is survived by a daughter- Eula Willmore and husband Perry of Farmington, MO, son- Kenneth Walters and wife Nancy of Chillicothe, MO, daughter-in-law- Shirley Walters of Du Quoin, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant children, son-Edgar Lewis Walters, grandson, brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 25, 2002 at the Elkville cemetery with Rev. Kevin Weaver officiating.

Those attending the services were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

The Searby Funeral Home of Du Quoin was in charge of arrangements.

Interment was in the Elkville cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the St. John's United Church of Christ.

Herschel Barnett
Herschel Barnett, 80, of DuQuoin, passed away Friday, February 15, 2002 at 2:50 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital.

Mr. Barnett had been a welder for DuQuoin Machine World. He served in the Army during WW II.

He was born September 7, 1921 in Richland, Ill., the son of Laymon and Alma Lena (Cross) Barnett. He married Winnona Gail Hoagland on October 14, 1945 in Morgantown, Tenn. and she preceded him in death on September 26, 1988.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law: Lena Mountain of DuQuoin, Joetta and Richard Hyink of St. Charles, Mo. and Debra Barnett of DuQuoin; grandchildren, Tobhe and Tara Barnett, Christe Barnett, James Hyink, Erica Hyink, Karen Hyink and Jordan Barnett and one great-grandson, Logan Barnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four brothers.

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 19 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart cemetery in DuQuoin.

Visitation was at the Neal-McClure Funeral Home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

B. Wesley Williams
B. Wesley Williams, 84, of DuQuoin, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.

Wesley was a retired agent-manager for Metropolitan Insurance. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of DuQuoin.

He was born September 11, 1917 at Johnston City, the son of Benjamin and Minnie (Huffman) Williams. He married Jessica L. Newman in 1940 in Missouri and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin; daughter, Kathy Enyedi and husband Carlton of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son, Keith Williams of Dallas, Tex.; three grandchildren, Allison Williams of Dallas, Tex., Mark Enyedi and wife Laura of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Matthew Enyedi of Birmingham, Ala.; three great-grandchildren, Emily Enyedi, Andrew Enyedi and Natalie Enyedi, all of Chapel Hill, N.C. and a sister, Wanda Carr of Westmont, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Maurice and Clydell Williams and two sisters, Ollie Lowry and Classena Avery.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 23 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. John Somers and Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.

There was no visitation.

Interment was in the East Lawn Memorial Gardens at Energy, Ill.
