Catherine Naas
Catherine "Kate" Naas, 99, of Ridgway, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1997 at 1:30 a.m. in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
She was born on March 13, 1898, in Omaha, to the late Frederick and Barbara Warmath Naas.
She was a retired beautician and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Ridgway.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Muenstermann; and six brothers, Edward, Fritz, Emil, John, Bill, and George Naas.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway. Fr. Mark Stec will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Ridgway.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Vickery Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgway, where the prayer service will be at 5 p.m. Monday.

Mildred B. Goolsby
Mrs. Mildred B. Goolsby, 79, of 801 Sahara St., Harrisburg, died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 1997, in Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Goolsby, on March 7, 1976.
Her parents were the late Otto and June Rose Ledbetter, and she was born in Posey County, Ind., on Feb. 24, 1918.
She was a Baptist by faith.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Helen Goolsby of Harrisburg, Dennis and Marilyn Goolsby of Oxford, Miss., and Paul Richard and Jo Ellen Goolsby of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter and her husband, Linda Kay and Wally Annis of Pinckneyville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Goolsby of Harrisburg; two brothers, Norman Ledbetter of Golconda and Randolph Gene Ledbetter of Phoenix; a sister, Helen Ralph of Harrisburg; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, L. Dean Goolsby; a brother, Nolan Ledbetter; and a sister, Faye Wilbanks.
The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Blanche Elsie Briercheck
Mrs. Blanche Elsie Briercheck, 92, died in the Pine Lake Hospital in Mayfield, Ky., Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997. She was a former resident of Harrisburg and Paducah, Ky.
On Nov. 9, 1957, she married Eugene Briercheck and he preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1981.
She was born on April 21, 1905, in Harrisburg, to the late Esco and Cleo Cozart Yates.
Surviving is a niece, Mrs. Edgar Humm of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Hurt and Oma Lanham; and a brother, Charles Yates.
Mrs. Briercheck retired as a nursing home attendant.
Graveside services will precede burial Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at 1 p.m. in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg. The Rev. Jon Althoff will officiate.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville.

Betty Iles
Mrs. Betty Iles, 69, of 1518 Fisk Street in Eldorado, died on Friday, Dec. 19, 1997 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign.
Mrs. Iles was born on Feb. 28, 1928 in Fairfield, daughter of Walter David and Eva (Atteberry) Conway. She was the widow of Luther Elmo Iles who preceded her in death in 1982. She was also preceded in death by her father; a son, Luther Iles Jr.; two brothers, Walter David Conway Jr. and Charles Conway.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church.
In addition to her mother, Eva, Mrs. Iles is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Alan) Michner of Tuscola; a brother, Joe Conway of Ridgway; three sisters, Jean Hall of Eldorado, Elsie Windland of Fairfield and Norma Dressen of Hudson, Fla.; four grandchildren, Scott and Phillip Michner of Tuscola, Christina Iles of Carbondale, and Andy Iles of San Francisco, Calif.; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Services were held at the Gospel Assembly Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dewayne Jolly officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery at Fairfield.

Jessie Ramsey Randolph
Mrs. Jessie Ramsey Randolph, 61, wife of Don Randolph, of Las Vegas, Nev. former Rosiclare resident, died Monday Dec. 15, 1997, in Las Vegas.
She was born on December 13, 1936, in Rosiclare, to Walter and Pauline Ramsey. She grew up in Rosiclare and graduated from Rosiclare High, with the class of 1955.
Survivors include her husband, Don Randolph; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mitch Rule of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two grandsons, Derek and Randy of Steamboat Springs; her mother, Pauline Ramsey of Rosiclare; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Gerald Miller of Rosiclare; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Linda Ramsey of Golconda and Doug and Gloria Ramsey of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four nieces; four nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Rebecca and Rachel; her father, Walter Ramsey; and three brothers, Kenneth, David and Donald Ramsey.
A memorial service was held in Las Vegas on December 20. The body was cremated and burial will be later in Steamboat Springs.

Patricia Ann Madonia
Mrs. Patricia (Pat) Ann Madonia, 45, wife of Sam Madonia, of Hancevillle, Ala., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, in Alabama.
She was born on June 30, 1952 in Chicago, to the late Alfred Earl and Mary Magaline (Millikan) Potts.
Surviving are her husband, Sam; a son, Michael Thorp of Seaside, Calif.; a daughter, Teresa Thorp of Germany; two grandchildren; four sisters, Linda Day of Altoona, Fla., Brenda Humm of Carrier Mills, Helen Duncan of Elizabethtown, and Carolyn Reed of Cave-in-Rock; five brothers, Ronnie Potts of Rosiclare, Jackie Potts and Harold (Potts) Bebout of Harrisburg, Larry Potts and Steven Potts, of Cullman, Ala.; and her stepmother, Lois Potts of Hanceville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Clifton Dennis Potts.
Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 12:30 p.m. at the Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel in Hanceville, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Cullman City cemetery in Cullman, Ala.

Maurice D. Cook
Maurice D. Cook, 85, of Paducah, Ky., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at 2 p.m. at his residence.
He was born on September 12, 1912, in Coles County, the son of Dr. Robert Calvin and Clara E. (DeLap) Cook.
He was employed as a microbiologist by the Illinois Department of Health for 33 years and a World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are several cousins in this area.
The body has been cremated and memorial graveside service will be announced at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the Norris City Memorial Library, Box 430, Norris City IL 62869.
The Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of the arrangements.

James Lewis Turner
James Lewis Turner, 62, of Rt. 1, Herod, died Tuesday night, June 3, 1997 at his home.
He worked for the EJE railroad 20 years and was a Vietnam Army veteran with service in Germany and a member of Rosiclare Free Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Loretta Lynn Turner and Debra Ann Turner, both of Joliet, and Javanna Berry of Ohio; three stepdaughters, Laura Pedroza of Merrillville, Ind., Theann Jarman of Cheboygan, Mich. and Leonida Tolbert of Rosiclare and James Allen of Joliet; a stepson, Theodore Trautman of Fort Payne, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hughey and Mary Ledbetter Turner; and a sister, Freda Smock.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hosick Funeral Home in Rosiclare, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The Revs. Vernon Shaw Jr., Escol Smith Jr. and Steve Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope cemetery with military rites.

Gene Sanders
The Rev. Gene Sanders, 74, formerly of Shawneetown, and surrounding area, died Wednesday morning in St. Anthony Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was the husband of Dorothy Sanders of St. Louis.
Services will be held Friday at Bayliss Baptist Church in St. Louis. Burial will be in St. Louis.
The Ziegenhein Funeral Home of St. Louis is in charge of the arrangements.

Nelle Mae Smith
Services for Ms. Nelle Mae Smith, 53, of Indianapolis, Ind. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997 at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Roger Lyons will officiate, assisted by Minister Harold Smith. Burial will be in Lindale cemetery at Eldorado.

Lawrence Nathaniel Cole
Services for Lawrence Nathaniel Cole, 29, of Chicago, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997 at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Fr. Richard Swan will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview cemetery at Carrier Mills.
