Leonard J. McGuire
Leonard J. McGuire, 76, of Winchester passed away Sunday morning July 1, 2001 at Pittsfield Health Care.
He was born September 26, 1924 near Alsey the son of the late Lawrence and Ellen Coleman McGuire.
He married Alma Marie Coultas on January 29, 1944 at St. Marks Church in Winchester.
Mr. McGuire attended school in Glasgow, Alsey and Winchester. He was an over the road truck driver all his working life, driving for Mid-America Trucking, Mid-States Trucking and Merchants Trucking. He was a member of St. Marks Church in Winchester and the Teamsters Union local 710.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Alma McGuire of Winchester, a son Reggie McGuire of Winchester, 1 grandson and 2 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter Dale Elaine, his twin brother Leo, brothers Francis, Bernard, Mike, Alphonus, Paul and Lawrence McGuire. 2 sisters Catherine Shaull and Joan White.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday (July 4, 2001) at St. Marks Church in Winchester. Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the donors choice.

Margaret Caroline McKeevers
Margaret Caroline McKeevers, 94, of Winchester passed away early Friday morning (June 15, 2001) at Prairie Village Health Care in Jacksonville.
She was born September 19, 1906 near Bluffs the daughter of George and Melvina Campbell Green .
She married Eathel “Mac” McKeevers December 4, 1922 in Pittsfield. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Mrs. McKeevers was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving is a sister Anna Wells of Beardstown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a brother Royal Green , and 3 sisters Lula Gunsaulas, Lois Johnson and Mary MacMurray.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:30 PM on Sunday until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to her church or to the Winchester EMS.

Mr. James Allen McNeely
James Allen McNeely, 47, of Hamilton, Ohio and formerly of Jacksonville died Tuesday, January 9, 2001 in Hamilton, Ohio. He was born August 8, 1953 in Jacksonville the son of Albert H. “Bert” and Emily R. Lonergan McNeely.
Mr. McNeely is survived by his mother of Jacksonville; his special friend, Anne Burkhart of Fairfield, Ohio; one brother, Charles E. (wife, Susan) McNeely of Jacksonville, and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. McNeely graduated from Routt High School in 1971. While at Routt, he excelled in baseball and basketball. He was a co-founder of the local band Tapestry, and played drums with that band from 1971 to 1976. He then played with a variety of bands, including “Shelter” in Springfield, “Voyager” in Milwaukee, and “Johnny,” “Sonny Moorman and the Dogs,” and most recently “Wizard” in Cincinnati. He was an avid tennis and basketball player.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2000 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at St. Bartholomew Cemetery near Murrayville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Routt Athletic Department.

Mr. Frank C. Menezes Jr.
Frank C. Menezes, Jr., 64, of West Peoria and formerly of Jacksonville, died Tuesday afternoon, June 5, 2001 at St. Frances Medical Center in Peoria. He was born April 5, 1937 in Jacksonville the son of Frank C. and Lelia Curry Menezes, Sr.
He is survived by one sister, Delores Anderson of Urbana, and two nephews: Brent Anderson (wife, Christine) of Urbana and Bryant (wife, Laura) Anderson of Montgomery, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Menezes retired from Caterpillar in Peoria after 30 years of employment. Following his retirement, he opened Club 30 Karaoke in his home, and began a singing career. This career included recording his own CD’s, and performances in Branson, Missouri and on television shows locally, in Peoria. An avid country music fan, Mr. Menezes was an active member of the Dottie West Fan Club for over 19 years, and enjoyed close friendships with Dottie, and many other musicians.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, on Highway 67 south of Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday at Wilton Mortuary, 2101 North Knoxville Avenue Peoria. The Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Merle Frank Menezes
Merle Frank Menezes, 76, of South Jacksonville died Saturday afternoon, November 24, 2001 at his residence. He was born November 24, 1925 in Jacksonville the son of Andrew and Charlotte Mullen Menezes. He married Nellie Louise Wemken on November 27, 1948 at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on May 28, 1990.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Ann Lanni of Orange, California; two sons, Frank Menezes II of Mount Lake Terrace, Washington and John Andrew Menezes of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene, and two brothers, Harold and Otto.
Mr. Menezes had worked as a purchaser for North American Aviation, Inc. in California. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville Prop Kickers, Jacksonville Moose Lodge, and VFW Post 1379 in Jacksonville.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2001 at White Hall Cemetery in White Hall. There will be no visitation. The Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.

Dean C. Meyer
Dean C. Meyer, 76, of Green field died at 11:45 P.M. on Wednesday Oct. 3,
2001 at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Walkerville Twp. on May 18, 1925 he was the son of the late
Christopher T. and Myrtle F. Collins Meyer.
He married the former Addie Bowen in Jerseyville on Jan. 4, 1947 and
she survives. Also surviving are 7 sons: Michael (wife Patricia) Meyer of
Jacksonville, Dave Meyer of Peoria, Steve (wife Dawn) Meyer of Carlinville,
Phil (wife Sherry) Meyer of Rockbridge, Jeffrey (wife Kimberly) Meyer of
Green field, Jerry (wife Robin) Meyer of Seoul, S. Korea and Eric (wife
Janice) Meyer of Green field. 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren
survive as does a brother Marvin Meyer of Hillview and a sister Jewell Dyer
of White Hall. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Troy, Lynn and
Harvey.
Mr. Meyer was a retired farmer, retiring in 1997. He was a member of
the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Green field.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Saturday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2
P.M. at the Charity Southern Baptist Church in Green field. Burial will be in
the Oak Wood Cemetery in Green field. Memorials may be made to the
Charity Southern Baptist Church or the Green field First Baptist Church.

Mrs. June Ula Meyer (Brasell)
June Ula Meyer, 85, of Jacksonville died early Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Prairie Village Health Care Center in Jacksonville. She was born June 17, 1916 in Arenzville the daughter of Luther and Ruth Kennedy Brasell. She married Kenneth W. Meyer on April 4, 1941 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Arenzville and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1994.
She is survived by one sister, Lois (husband, John) Clark of rural Arenzville; one son-in-law, Peter Lyons of Falls Church, Virginia; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Elaine Lyons; one son, Kenneth Luther Meyer; and one brother, Robert Brasell.
Mrs. Meyer was raised in the Arenzville area. She attended Carthage College at Carthage for two years and later taught at Buck School and Lovekamp School in Arenzville. Mrs. Meyer spent most of her adult life in Arizona and New Mexico. She earned her real estate license while in Arizona. In Los Alamos, New Mexico, she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Women’s Group and Altar Guild.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Arenzville with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Francis L. Miller
Francis L. Miller, 84, of Scottville, died Thursday, November 22, 2001 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1917, in Flemington, Missouri, the son of Homer Virgil and Nellie Mae Masters Miller. He married Hallie Marie Powell on January 6, 1939 and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Virgil Ray (wife, Pat) of Scottville; two daughters, Darlene (husband, Thomas) Woolfolk of rural Palmyra and Mary Frances (husband, Mark) Keeney of Scottville; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Dale Miller; one grandson, and one sister, Maxine Fansler.
Mr. Miller was retired from trucking and farming. He served for several years as Road Commissioner and Water Commissioner in Scottville Township. He was an avid camper and a member of the Coachman Camping Club. He served in the 12th Armored Division Medics during World War II in Germany. He was a member of the Scottville Christian Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, with burial at Panther Creek Cemetery in Scottville. The family will meet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Macoupin County Hospice, Scottville Christian Church or Northwestern Rescue Squad.

Grace Miller (Miller)
Grace Miller, 94, of Bethalto, formerly of White Hall, died on Tuesday
evening Dec. 5, 2001 at 4:20 P.M. at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born in Winslow, Ark. on August 30, 1907 she was the daughter of the
late Robert C. and Dora Jane Hilliard Miller.
She married Thomas W. Miller in East, St. Louis on Jan. 30, 1927 and he
preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1988. Surviving are a daughter and
son-in-law: Mrs. Wanda and Ernest Phipps of Staunton, a son and
daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Rosemary Miller of Godfrey, 5 grandchildren:
Thomas (wife, Teresa) Miller, David Miller, Richard (wife, Gloria) Phipps,
Donna Vesper and Peggy (husband, Ted) Leland, 9 great grand and 3
great-great grandchildren, 1 brother Virgil (wife, Connie) Miller of Cottage
Hills and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son
Normal G. “Bud” Miller and 4 sisters: Maggie Sorenson, Creta Pike, Mary
Grego, and Bonnie Dietrich.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Hillview Baptist Church and will be
sadly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in White Hall where services will be held on Monday at 10
A.M. with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Graveside rites will be conducted at 1
P.M. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials are mentioned to the
Hillview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Shirleen Miller (Robinson)
Shirleen Miller, age 64, of Roodhouse, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 16, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 26, 1936 in Carrollton, the daughter of Harold and Loretta Cain Robinson.
She married Earl Mogg in June 1956 and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1993. She later married Floyd Miller and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1998.
She is survived by five daughters, Sheila (husband, Steven) Skaggs of Henderson, KY; Karen (husband, Mike) Sherbert of Athens, Alabama; Kathy (companion, Jesse Young) Mogg of Roodhouse; Mary Mogg of Evansville, IN and Joanna (husband, Ryan) Jackson of White Hall; three sons, Gary Mogg of Oregon; Brian (wife, Michelle) Mogg of Jacksonville and Terry (wife, Anne) Mogg of Roodhouse; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Lawson; three sisters, Juanita Whalen, Cleo Dixon and Doris Ross; and three brothers, Ronnie, Harold and Leroy Robinson.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at the Miller Cemetery at Old Pearl. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 18, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse.

Mrs. Frieda Ima Molen (Crawford)
Frieda Ima Molen, 98, of Modesto, died Monday morning, January 8, 2001, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville. She was born on June 18, 1902, in rural Palmyra, the daughter of Grant and Maude Hays Crawford. She married Luther Molen on August 15, 1917 in Carlinville and he preceded her in death in 1960.
She is survived by two sons: Harold (wife, Barbara) of rural Modesto, and Wayne (wife, Louise) of Virden; one daughter, Jean (husband, lee Canada of Kissimmee, Florida; nine grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and two sisters: Faye Scroggins of Palmyra and Flossie McDevitt of Heritage Manor in Carlinville. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Harold Richard “Dickie” Molen, and one sister in infancy.
Mrs. Molen accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and remained a faithful member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Modesto Baptist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Molen enjoyed regularly attending Silver Strands Senior Citizen’s Center in Palmyra. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Modesto Baptist Church in Modesto, with burial at Union Cemetery in Girard. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Memorials are suggested to the Modesto Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mary Ann Cecelia Morris (Evans)
Mary Ann Cecelia Evans Morris, 79, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, January 20, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on November 22, 1921 in Peoria the daughter of Joseph Anthony and Gertrude Tebben Evans. She married Harold Stewart Morris on September 4, 1948 in Winchester and he preceded her in death in March of 1986.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (husband, Cas) Bied of Jacksonville and Jo Jean Morris of Downers Grove; two grandchildren, Erin and Cullan; and three sisters, Margaret Mary Irving of Pittsfield, Rita Yahnke of Plainfield, and Charlotte Thompson of Downers Grove. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Anthony Evans, II, and Frances Xavier Evans, and one niece, Miki Irving.
Mrs. Morris served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Yeoman First Class, stationed in Northhampton, Massachusetts. After the war, she worked for the State of Illinois, Division of Children and Family Services, setting up Crippled Children Services offices. She later served as office manager and insurance secretary for County Companies Insurance in Winchester for 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was a Girl Scout Leader, and a member of Jollies Home Extension Unit and the local VFW Auxiliary. She served as a board member for Gillham Cemetery, Scott County Extension, Scott County Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Church of Our Saviour, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar and Rosary Societies of St Patricks Church at Bluffs and the Church of Our Saviour.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Gillham Cemetery, near Winchester. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation.

Melba Jean Morris (Brandt)
Melba Jean Morris, 71, of Woodson died Friday morning, April 27, 2001 at her residence. She was born June 4, 1929 in Dalton, Missouri the daughter of Gustav Adolf and Henrietta Elizabeth Manson Brandt. She married Alvin J. Marlow and later married Earl C. Morris and he survives in Jacksonville.
She is also survived by one son, Gary (wife, Debra) Marlow of Woodson; two granddaughters, one great-grandson, one brother, Billy B. (wife, Nell Jean) Brandt of Brunswick, Missouri and one sister, Hildreth H. (husband, Melvin) Neidholdt of Brunswick, Missouri. She was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Brandt.
Ms. Morris had worked at the Central Laborers Pension and Welfare Fund Office in Jacksonville prior to retirment. She later worked as a waitress at the VFW and Elks Lodge in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Dalton, Missouri and the Women of the Moose in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Friends may call after 12 noon on Sunday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at Dalton Cemetery in Dalton, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Woodson Fire Department.

Betty F. Morris (Long)
Betty F. Morris, 68, of Jacksonville died Wednesday morning, July 25, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on October 21, 1932 in Jacksonville the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth A. McManus Long. She married Russell A. “Busey” Morris on September 22, 1956 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann (husband, Louis) Chapman of Jacksonville and Linda Morris of Beardstown; one son, Douglas Morris of Springfield; one sister, Mary Dobbs of Jacksonville; and two brothers, Tom (wife, Toni) Long, and John (wife, Marilyn) Long both of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard E. Long and Bill R. Long (surviving wife Nancy of Jacksonville).
Mrs. Morris served as a Registered Nurse in Jacksonville for many years. She graduated from the Passavant School of Nursing and was employed at Passavant Hospital, the office of Drs. Charles and Thomas Wilson, and with the State of Illinois, Department of Public Health. She was a member of the Passavant Nurses Alumni Association. Mrs. Morris enjoyed yearly trips to Florida.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends following the service at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Waverly East Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials are suggested to the Betty Morris Continuing Education Fund for Nurses at Passavant Hospital.
