Bone, Sr., Robert L.

Services for Robert L. Bone, Sr., of Sorento, were held at noon today in Perfetti Funeral Home there. The Rev. Norman Fenton officiated. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery. Mr. Bone died at 6;15 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 1999, in his home. He was 64 years old on September 9. He was born in Sorento, a son of Floyd L. and Blanche Carlton Bone, and spent all of his life there. His first marriage, to Mary Schoeneweiss, ended in divorce. He married Patty Hubbard on September 8, 1973, in Montgomery and she survives. Surviving also are sons, Terry, Robert L. Sr., and Willis Bone, all of Sorento; daughters, Robin Bone, Juanita Zeller, Mary Jo Thomas, Batty Burris and Barbara Earnest, all of Sorento; brother, Frank Bone of rural Green ville; sisters, Delores Turner of Sorento, Ruby Miller of Gillespie, Dorothy Lyttaker of Rushville, Ermilie Bondurant of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Bonifer, Margaret M.

Memorial service for Margaret M. Bonifer, of Staunton, will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father George Radosevich officiating. Her remains have been donated to Washington University School of Medicine. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until the time of service. They suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to St. Michael's Church. Mrs. Bonifer died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 1999, in St. John's Hospital North, Springfield. She was 82 years old on September 19. She was a secretary for 40 years and worked for the Fischer Insurance Agency, Staunton, at the time of her retirement in 1975. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Staunton, Staunton VFW Auxiliary and Staunton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Casper and Laura Fischer Felchner. She married John Bonifer on August 27, 1947. He died June 4, 1974. Surviving are brothers, Charles Felchner and wife Florence, Robert Felchner and wife Violet, both of Staunton, Bill Felchner of Virginia Beach, Va.

Booher, Charles W. Services for Charles W. Booher, of Atlanta, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Atlanta Christian Chruch with Andy Glass and David Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery with military rites conducted by Atlanta American Legion Gresham Crutchley Post 341. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Booher died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 1998, in his home. He was 77 years old on March 30, and a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was the Atlanta Township road commissioner for 25 years before he retired, member of Atlanta Masonic Lodge 165 AF&AM, Atlanta American Legion Post. He was born in Jonesboro, Ark., a son of Charles and Iva Bingham Booher. He married Rachel Fraley on February 25, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives. Sruviving also are a son, Charles Booher Jr. and wife Wanda of Chesapeake, Va.; daughters, Pat Johnson and husband Robert, Linda Evans and husband David, all of Atlanta; sisters, Alberta Bishop, Tabitha Fisher, Alma Jean Leitschuh, Eunice Bishop, Mildred Odle, all of Litchfield; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceding him in death were two sisters and a brother in infancy.

Boone, C.W.

C.W. Boone, who was city clerk in Hillsboro from 1967 to 1985, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 1999, in Barnes - Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. He was 83 years old on July 23. Besides serving as city clerk, he was treasurer of the Hillsboro school district for nearly 30 years and for many years had worked as a bookkeeper for his father in Donnellson. He served in Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1954, he moved to Hillsboro from Donnellson. He was a Boy Scout leader in Donnellson and a member of the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro. He was very active in both his church and in the community. He and his wife, the former Billie Young, would have been married 57 years on Wednesday. They were wed on January 20, 1942, in Warrenton, Mo. She survives. He was born in Donnellson, a son of Walter E. and Effie Mae Laws Boone. Surviving besides his wife are sons, Charles Boone and wife Mary of Rolla, Mo., William Boone and wife Maryann of Colorado Springs, Colo., Vince Boone and wife Vicki of DeKalb; daughters, Becky Olroyd and husband Jim of Belleville, Gwen Frazer and husband Bob of Irving, Tammie Christian and husband Ken of Harrisburg; a sister, Ruth Jean Reining of Edmond, Okla.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, Herschel, Marvin and Raymond Boone and a sister, Mary Jeanette Sellars. Services were held Sunday afternoon in the United Methodist Church of Hillsboro. The Rev. Tom Compton officiated. Burial was in Donnellson Cemetery. Bass Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to the United Methodist Church or the Heart Association.

Boone, Eileen

Services for Eileen Boone, formerly of Donnellson, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Bass Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. James Howie, of Donnellson, officiating. Burial will be in Donnellson Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mrs. Boone died Sunday, February 14, 1999, in St. Anthony's Hospital, Effingham. She was 82 years old on April 10. She resided most of her life in Donnellson and attended schools there. She was born in Donnellson, a daughter of Jesse O. and Edna Edwards Harrison. Surviving are sons, David Boone and wife Marilyn of Effingham, Richard E. Boone of Oakland, Ark., and two grandchildren. A sister, Ruby Menzer, preceded her in death.

Boone, Gerald

Services for Gerald "Billy" Boone, of Hillsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bass Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.ŒFriends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Boone died Sunday, November 29, 1998, in Montgomery Health Care Center at Taylor Springs. He was 79 years old on February 16. He was a lifetime resident of the Hillsboro area and retired as a government contract specialist, having worked with the Amry Corps of Engineers. He was born in Donnellson, a son of William Cyrus and Violet Olive Ross Boone, and never married. He helped to rear a niece and nephews, Earl Lorrie and Gary Powell. Surviving also are sisters, Doris Powell of Hillsboro, Betty N. Porter of St. Louis. Preceding him in death were brothers, Kenneth, William Henry and Ross Boone and sisters, Dorothy Jean Boone and Aeola Hunter.

Boone, Virgil L.

Memorial services for Virgil L. Boone, formerly of Donnellson, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Wilton Mortuary, Peoria. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens there. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the mortuary. Mr. Boone died June 29, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was 74 years old last August 18, and an Army veteran of World War II. He resided in Peoria where he worked for 18 years at Hiram Walker distillers and then for 19 years at Caterpillar. He retired in 1992. He was born in Donnellson, a son of Joseph and Nancy Weaver Boone, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in the class of 1944. He married Vera Hall on December 24, 1947, in Peoria. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Terry Boone of Peoria; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers and a sister.

Borders, Kenneth W.

Memorial service for Kenneth W. Borders, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at graveside in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento. The Rev. Steve Revisky of The Christian Church of Litchfield will officiate. Meinschein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends will leave from the funeral home for the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. No visitation will be held. Mr. Borders died at 3:45 this morning, Tuesday, July 20, 1999, in his home. He was 57 years old on March 20. He was a setup operator at Consumer Plastics. He was born in Piedmont, Mo., a son of Bill and Mildred Lacy Borders. He married Sharon Kay Banovz on March 18, 1967, in Hillsboro. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Tim Borders and wife Chris of Vandalia; his mother, Mildred Gualandi of Litchfield; sister, Wilma Beam of Hillsboro; and a granddaughter, Amanda Borders. His father, Bill, preceded him in death. Memorial service for Kenneth W. Borders, of Litchfield, was held Thursday in Sunnyside Cemetery, Sorento. Steve Revisky of the Christian Church of Litchfield officiated. Carol Burke sang "There Will Be Peace in the Valley." Meinschein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Borders, 57, died Tuesday, July 20, in his home.

Borop, Ruth Esther

Services for Ruth Esther Borop, formerly of the local area, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Central Christian Church, Decatur. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home, 2827 North Oakland avenue, Decatur. Mrs. Borop died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 4, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, from injuries suffered when her car went out of control and struck an office building Friday in Decatur. She was 80 years old on October 14. She and her husband, the Rev. James D.W. Borop, served the Harvel and Waggoner Christian Churches for several years and before that served the Central Christian Church. She graduated from Eureka College in 1940. She was born in Decatur, a daughter of E.J. and Bertha Pease Muffley. She married Rev. Borop on July 26, 1942, in Miami, Fla. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Dr. Miriam Prins and husband Dr. Gwyn Prins of Great Eversden, Great Britain, Nancy Borop of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Harry Muffley of Moline; and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Susannah Prins.

Bost, Marvin S.

Services for Marvin S. Bost, formerly of Morrisonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church there with the Rev. Stephen Burwell officiating. Burial will be in Morrisonville Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Moffitt Funeral Home at Morrisonville. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. John's Hospice or the Morrisonville United Methodist Church. Mr. Bost, of Taylorville, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. he was 75 years old on February 23. He was a life-long farmer in the Morrisonville area until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville and a graduate of Raymond High School in the class of 1942. He was born in Atwater, a son of Dwight and Alice Snell Bost. He married June Billiter on March 1, 1945, in the United Methodist Church of Morrisonville. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Eric Bost of Taylorville; daughter, Marla Bost and husband Tim Lyerla of Austin, Texas; brother, Maynard Bost of Raymond; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Others surviving include a daughter in law, Rita Green wood of Morrisonville. Preceding him in death were a son, Larry Bost; twin sister, Margaret Bost; and a brother, Lt. Murray Bost.

Boster, Vinson L.

Services for Vinson L. Boster, former Staunton police chief, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Williamson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Frank Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.îFriends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeralhome. Memorials are suggested directed to the family.Mr. Boster died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 1998, inStaunton Memorial Hospital as the result of injuriessuffered in an automobile accident. He would have been 60 years old on May 29. He headed the Staunton Police Department as its chief for 11 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First United Baptist Church of Staunton and the Staunton Lions Club. He was born in Staunton, a son of Raymond and Dorothy Eller Boster. He married Barbara Kay Trout on June 11, 1960, in McLeansboro. She died May 28, 1998, in the same accident. Surviving are daughters, Kimberly Boster of Alton, brother,John Trout of Joliet; Michelle Mitchelar and husband Chuck of Ocala, Fla.; son, James Douglas Boster of Dallas, Texas; sister, Shirley Schoenleber of Edwardsville; brother, George Boster of Seneca, Mo.; two grandchildren, Amber and Raymond Mitchelar of Ocala, Fla. Preceding him in death were a son, Jeffrey Boster; parents; brothers, Jack, Jerry and James Boster. Preceding her in death were a son, Jeffrey Boster; her mother, father and step mother, Verla Trout.

Boston Jr., Harry James

Harry James Boston Jr., whose parents reside in Mt. Olive, died unexpectedly Monday, January 25, 1999, in St. Louis. He was 40 years old on October 7. A resident of St. Louis, he was a laborer in construction. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Harry James, Sr., and Sybil Palmer Boston, and attended the Hazelwood Grade School and Berkley High School in St. Louis County. Surviving besides his parents, are a son, Harry James Timothy Boston of St. Louis and a brother, Kenneth Boston of South Haven, Mich. Preceding him in death were sisters, Candace, Dawn and Bridgett Boston, another sister in infancy and a brother, Ronnie Boston. Memorial service is planned at a later date. Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, is in charge of arrangements.

Boston, Steve

Services for Steve "Daff" Boston, of Livingston, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lesicko Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Veterans Memorial Fund in care of the American Legion, Olive Fire Protection District, Southern Illinois Hospice or the Sacred Heart Church Restoration Fund. Mr. Boston died at 8:40 a.m. Monday, November 16, 1998, in Hampton Nursing Care Center at Alhambra. He was 75 years old on January 22, and an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was an operating engineer and member of Operating Engineers Local 520 of Swansea, before retiring in 1988. Before that he worked as a laborer with Laborers Local 179 of Edwardsville. He was commander of the John J. Slifka American Legion Post 1984 of Livingston, VFW Post 6628 of Panama, Croatian Federation Union Lodge 217 of Benld, and past fire chief for the Olive Fire Protection District of Livingston. In the Army he held the rank of Surgical Technician Grade 4 and served from 1943 to 1945 and from 1950 to 1952 in Korea. He was born in Livingston, a son of Joe and Dora Fedrovich Matesa. He was not married. Surviving is a sister in law, Helen Boston of Livingston and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a sister, Mary Regna and brothers, John and Anton Boston and John and Peter Matesa.

Boswell, C. Melvin

Private graveside service was held this week in Girard Cemetery for C. Melvin Boswell, formerly of Girard. Hough Memorial Home, Farmersville, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boswell, 80 last December 19, died in Yucaipa, Calif. Services were held there. He was a mechanic and owned a body and fender shop in Girard. Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Ann Hamilton and husband Bill of Yucaipa; a sister, Lula Bonnington of San Bernardino, Calif.; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Bothwell, Verda Emma

Services for Verda Emma Bothwell, formerly of Mt. Olive, were held today in the Dusckas Fuenral Home in Erie, Pennsylvania. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Lutheran Home at 149 West 22nd street, Erie, PA 16502 or to the Blind Association of Erie. Mrs. Bothwell died Saturday, January 23, 1999, in her home at the Richford Arms Lutheran Home in Erie. She was 85 years old last April 2. She retired in 1976 after working for 17 years at the Erie County Geriatric Center, now called Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Edward A. and Elizabeth H. Aberle Remmert. She married Harris B. Bothwell on January 2, 1934. He was a veteran of World War One and died April 28, 1972. Surviving are a nephew, Robert Remmert of Worden, and several cousins.

Boulware, Velda R.

Services for Velda R. Boulware, of Nokomis, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stiehl - Dawson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Hal Mesner officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Boulware died at 4:46 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 75 years old last August 15. She was born in Chenoa, a daughter of Everett and Virginia M. Maple Henline. She married Everett Boulware on May 15, 1945. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Mark Boulware of Chenoa; daughter, Charlene Spinnie of Ramsey; sisters, Marlene Perkins of Chenoa, Beverly Heinrich of Bloomington; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, Everett Henline and a sister, Melba Jean Lyons.

Bourke, David W.

Services for David W. Bourke, of Hillsboro, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Stiehl - Dawson Funeral Home, Witt, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in the Witt Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be accorded. Mr. Bourke died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 65 years old on July 27, and a veteran of the Korean war. He worked for a glass factory, in coal mines and retired as an employee of the Witt school. He was born in Witt, a son of Daniel and Ava Rufus Bourke. His first marriage, to Anne Wilhelm, ended in divorce. He married Mary Jarman on September 30, 1968, in Hillsboro and she survives. Surviving also are a son, Roger Bourke of Irving; daughter, Lisa Furlow and husband Lance of Witt; sisters, Sheila Galvin of Athelstane, Wis., Donna Roberts of Addison, Barbara Tompson of Witt, Brenda Eller of Fillmore; and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, Robert, Larry and Terry Bourke and a sister, Linda Bourke Allen.

Bowen, Lucille G.

Lucille G. Bowen, formerly of Waggoner, died Sunday, August 16, 1998, in the Regency of Tacoma Nursing Care Facility, Tacoma, Washington. She was 79 years old last September 2. She was a registered nurse, having been certified in Illinois in 1940 after attending the Springfield Hospital and Training School. She served in the Army as an operating room nurse from March 1945 to October 1945, and earned the rank of second lieutenant. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma and the Memorial Hospital Society of Nurses Alumni Association. She was born in Waggoner, a daughter of Clyde and Edna Webb Gerlach, and graduated from Waggoner Community High School in 1936. She married Dr. Robert E. Bowen in 1955. He preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Robert E. Fitzgerald of Lakewood, Wash.; step daughter, Eloise Pearson Hamatani of Tokyo, Japan; and two grandchildren.

Bowles, James Barnett

Committal services for James Barnett Bowles were held this morning in Cress Hill Cemetery in rural Hillsboro. The Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church, officiated. Mark's Mortuary of Wood River was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bowles died at 8:20 a.m. Friday, May 29, 1998, in Colonaides Nursing Home, Granite City. He was 86 years old. He worked in the leather department for International Shoe Company for 33 years. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially gardening, hunting ginseng, fishing, hunting and trapping. Surviving are his wife, the former Madge Schwartz whom he married September 21, 1941, in East Alton; a daughter, Beverly Bowles Cannon of Ipsanti, Minn; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Eulalia Best Bowles; brothers, Mayo, Levi, Barney, Ira, Jesse and John Bowles; and a sister, Ona Wohlert.

Bowman, Forret M.

Forret M. Bowman, formerly of Waggoner, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in the hospital at Sterling. Mr. Bowman, of Sterling, was 80 years old on December 16. He was a son of Clarence and Amanda Whitworth Bowman. Surviving are his wife, Olivia; daughters, Neta Marie McCleary and Bonnie Bowman; granddaughters, Bethany Campbell and Jennifer McCleary. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Margaret; brothers, Vallee and Dayton Bowman and sisters, Lois Lester and Neta Lewis. Services were held in Rock Falls Methodist Church with burial in Oak Knoll Memorial Park near Sterling.

Bowman, Marcella Lee

Marcella Lee Bowman, mother of Thomas E. Bowman of Farmersville, died Monday, March 15, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. She was 68 years old on January 17. Mrs. Bowman resided in Pekin until after her retirement in 1994. She then moved to Springfield. She worked at Cobbler Corner, Three Sisters restaurant and the deli at Mr. K's, all in Pekin. She was born in Beardstown, a daughter of James E. and Ada M. Suddeth Smith. Surviving, besides the son in Farmersville, are other sons, Mark A. Bowman of Bath, Clark R. Bowman of Palmyra; daughter, Toni D. Davis of Pekin; sisters, Veda Stark of Versailles, Zeda Perriles, Inez Morgan, Dorene Woodworth, Betty Lemon, all of Pekin, Rosalie Wubker of Virginia, Joan Staake of Arenzville, Deloris Walters of Peoria; brothers, Louis E. Smith of Peoria, James O., Richard J. and Tommy R. Smith, all of Pekin; and 10 grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Pekin.

Boyd, Sr., John Charles

Services for John Charles Boyd, Sr., of rural Irving, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Gloria Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Boyd died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, at his home. He was 80 years old on December 11. He was employed at Hillsboro Glass, retiring in 1981 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Glass Blowers Association, past member of the Hillsboro Moose Club and the Montgomery County Farm Bureau. He resided in the Irving and Hillsboro area for most of his adult life, but spent his childhood years in the Taylor Springs area. He boxed in the Golden Gloves in the 1930s. He was born in White City, a son of John and Hannah Osborn Boyd. He was first married to Violet Pierce. On November 7, 1953, in Hillsboro, he married Margaret Oakley. She survives. Surviving also are sons, John Boyd and wife Vickie of Hillsboro, Clifford Boyd and wife Cindy of Irving; a daughter, Evangeline Purkes and husband Wayne of Taylorville; brother, Joe Boyd of Hillsboro; sister, Opal Mikalasek of Hillsboro; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were daughters, Diane Lynn Boyd and Laura Ann Davis; brothers, Henry, Howard and Jacob Boyd; and sisters, Grace Robinson, Mable Grossinaud, Rose Burris, Eva Mcgowan, Mary Jane Sanford, and Pearl McKenzie.

Boyett, Virginia Marguerite

Virginia Marguerite Boyett, mother of Linda Burnet of Waggoner, died Sunday, August 16, 1998, in St. John's Hospice. She was 84 years old on July 16. Mrs. Boyett resided in Carlinville and formerly in Harrisburg. She was a member of the Dorris Heights Methodist Church in Harrisburg, the Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary, the Dorris Heights Home Bureau and the Farmersville Home Bureau. She was born in Saline County, a daughter of Barney and Maude Baker Ashe. She married Robert Charles Boyett in 1932. He died in 1968. Surviving, besides Mrs. Burnet and her husband Larry, are another daughter, Shirley Martin and husband Bill of Harrisburg; a son, Charles R. and wife Pat Boyett of Carlinville; brothers, Richard Ashe of Marion, Robert Ashe of Marion; a sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gaskins Funeral Home, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery there.

Boynton, Alcidean Bethard

Alcidean Bethard Boynton, formerly of raymond, died Wednesday, September 16, 1998, in Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, Fla. She was 87 years old on September 7. She was born in Raymond, a daughter of Wesley and Nettie Freeman Bethard, and attended country schools in the area. She graduated from Raymond High School in 1930. Her husband, Donald Boynton, preceded her in death in 1982. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Tutor of Bradenton, Fla.; sons, William Boynton of Pascaqoula, Fla., Robert Boynton of Oconee, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Preskar of Barry; brothers, Oral Bethard of Pittsfield, Eldon Bethard of Cape Girardeau, Verlyn Bethard of Carthage, Gail and Robert Bethard of Streator; three granddaughters, Tiffany and Michelle Tutor of Bradenton, Shawna Boynton of Columbia, Mo., and a great grandson, Joseph Michael Tutor of Kentucky. Preceding her in death were sisters, Evelyn Johnston in 1945, Ruby Bethard in 1997, and a grandson, Robby Boynton in 1980. Services were held in Florida with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lakeland.

Brabec, Lorena K.

Services for Lorena Katherine Brabec, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Union Miners Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Barbey officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10 a.m. until the service. Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service. Mrs. Brabec died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 1999, in Litchfield HealthCare Center. She was 95 years old on February 17. She attended Mt. Olive schools unitl 1919 and then worked for Western Electric Company in Cicero for a time. She was born in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Ferdinand and Louisa Schwertfeger Schwing. She married Burton Strunck on March 30, 1925, in Carlinville; he died June 19, 1930. On July 13, 1934, she married Frank J. Brabec in Carlinville; he died September 13, 1963. Preceding her in death also were a son, Burton Strunck, Jr.; brothers, Elmer, Louis and William Schwing; sisters, Julia Thelen, Bertha Gehner, Florence Lorenz, Minnie Fetter and Violetta Dietiker. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Lorena Katherine Brabec, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Union Miners Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel Barbey officiating. Becker and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The last of her immediate family, Mrs. Brabec, 95, died Sunday, August 15, in Litchfield Health Care Center. Her obituary was in Monday's paper. Nieces and nephews will receive friends at the cemetery from 10 a.m. until the service. They suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service.

Brachear, Juanita

Violet Juanita Brachear, of Girard, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in Carlinville Hospital. She was 75 years old on July 26. She an Avon representative for many years in the Girard, Atwater and Waggoner areas. She was born in Oden, a daughter of William Presley and Rubby Alice Reed Eskew. She married Oscar Beal in 1940 in Jacksonville; he died in 1972. She married Steven A. Brachear in 1976 in Jefferson City, Mo.; he survives. Surviving also are sons, Lee Beal and wife Karen of Cornland, Robert M. Beal of West Virginia, Steve W. Beal and wife Patty of Waggoner, Dale P. Beal and wife Brenda of Farmersville; daughters, Alice M. Seago and husband Carl of Carlinville, Sheryl A. Beal of Waggoner; brother, William P. Eskew of Cornland; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Girard. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Moore Cemetery, Waggoner.

Brackney, Leah Faye

Services of Leah Faye Brackney, formerly of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Grote, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville, officiating. Burial will be in Elm Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield or to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Brackney, of Shelbyville, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 1998, in Shelbyville Manor there. She was 84 years old on December 3. She was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Ltichfield. She was born in Herrick, a daughter of James Frederick and Lilly Belle Austin Bieber, and graduated from Sullivan High School in the class of 1931. She married Jack Willis Brackney on January 28, 1933, in Sullivan. He died May 24, 1983. Surviving are sons, James W. Brackney and wife Rita Sue of Shelbyville, Terry N. Brackney and wife Linda of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother, Frederick Bieber and wife Betty of Charleston; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a brother, Rollie Bieber and sisters, Trixie Blankenship, Lola Wright, Hilda Storm and Bernadine Buxton. Services for Leah Faye Brackney, formerly of Litchfield, were held at 11 this morning in Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Grote, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville, officiated. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Musical selections for the service were "Abide with Me" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Steve Brackney of St. Louis, Patrick Carney of St. Charles, Ronald Hoffmeister of Altamont, Jerry Holley of Shelbyville, Todd Stevens of Mapleton and Dean Storm of Glen Carbon. Mrs. Brackney, 84 of Shelbyville, died Sunday, July 12, in Shelbyville Manor.

Bradley, Geraldine L.

Funeral Mass for Geraldine L. Bradley, of Nokomis, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Louis Catholic Church there by the Rev. Father Pat Jakel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home. Mrs. Bradley died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 1999, in Golden Manor Nursing Home. She was 82 years old on August 8. She worked for the State of Illinois before she retired, and was a member of St. Louis Church. She was born in Montgomery County, a daughter of Eugene and Olivia Whitmore Pieper, Sr. She married Robert O. Bradley on November 19, 1935, in Pana. He died December 27, 1991. Surviving are a daugher, Maxine Tosetti and husband Kenneth of Nokomis; brothers, Orville Pieper of Springfield, Eugene and Jr., Melvin Jospeh Pieper, both of Nokomis; sisters, Gladys Kunz and Bernice Snyder, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Tod Tosetti of Nokomis, Tina Tosetti Menin of Taylorville, Stacey Tosetti Franzen of Gilbert, Ariz. Preceding her in death were a sister, E. Rita Miles and a brother in infancy.
