Bradley, Gladys

Gladys Bradley, formerly of Coffeen, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, in St. Mary's Extended Care Unit, Decatur. She was 97 years old last May 16. She was born in Coffeen, a daughter of Anthony and Emma Gates. She married Ira Carl Henemeyer on October 19, 1919; he died July 15, 1943. She married George Edward Bradley on February 24, 1955; he died July 17. 1970. Surviving are sons, Frederick N. Henemeyer of Decatur, Leland H. Henemeyer of Cape Coral, Fla.; five granddaughters, one step grandson, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. Graceland - Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, was in charge of arrangements.

Bradshaw, Wayne

H. Wayne Bradshaw, father of Vicki Wallace of Irving, died Sunday, February 21, 1999, in his home at Griggsville. He was 71 years old on May 13, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was active in Griggsville, serving as city superintendent for a year, past member of the school board, secretary of the Great Rivers Pilots Association and an unofficial weatherman for a Quincy television station. His hobbies included flying, oil painting and meterology. He also enjoyed writing and was a published author. He managed the Federated Dry Goods store and Kopps Furniture and Appliance, both in Griggsville. He also worked for Caterpillar Corporation. He retired in 1989 from Trio Manufacturing in Griggsville. He was born in Griggsville, a son of Everett and Edith Young Bradshaw. He married Betty Phillips on June 19, 1948, in Detroit. She survives. Surviving also, besides Mrs. Allen Wallace of Irving, are sons, Steve Bradshaw of Macomb, Gary Bradshaw of Brainerd, Minn.; brothers, Robert and Keith Bradshaw, both of Griggsville, Kenneth Bradshaw of Pekin, Mike Bradshaw of Pittsfield; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were held in Griggsville with burial in the Griggsville Cemetery.

Brady, Henry T.

Services for Henry Thomas Brady, of Gillespie, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Kravanya Funeral Home there with the Rev. Dennis Hill officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday in the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Make A Wish Foundation. Mr. Brady died at 4:25 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 60 years old last June 9, and an Air Force veteran. He was a tool and die maker for Deaton Tool Works in Chicago before he retired. He was born in DuPage County, a son of Charles and Marie Brady. His wife, Monica, survives. Surviving also are sons Jimmie D. Allen, Henry T. Brady, Jr.; step son, Bobby L. Doss; daughters, Cindy D. Doss, Evelyn M. Rodgers, Veronica L. Brady and Georgia L. Brady; and 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Braido, Frank

Services for Frank Braido, of Benld, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie. Burial will be in Benld City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Benld Nutrition Center. Mr. Braido died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Gillespie. He was 87 years old on June 14. He was a sheriff's deputy in Macoupin County for some 20 years and before that a coal miner. He worked in Superior Coal Company mines 1, 2, 3, 4 and for Little Dog Coal Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Benld and a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Gillespie. He was born in Benld, a son of Anton and Maria Remunda Braido. He married Mary Fulton on Novmeber 30, 1933, in Carlinville. She preceded him in death. Surviving are daughters, Frances Goodman and husband Roger of Carlinville, Mary Jo Henrichs and husband Lyle of Dorchester; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Others surviving include a son in law, Joseph Reano of Bonita Springs, Fla. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Shirley Reano; brothers, Pete, Dominic and John Braido; and a sister, Josephine Braido.

Brandt, Albert W.

Services for Albert W. Brandt, of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Meinschein Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Revisky, pastor of the Christian Church of Litchfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mr. Brandt died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 1999, in Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights, Ill. He was 96 years old on June 9. He worked at American Radiator and Schutt Manufacturing in Litchfield before he retired. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Wilhelm and Elizabeth Schmidt Brandt. He married Faye M. Harris in 1927 in Carlinville. She died in 1964. Surviving are a son, Jim Brandt and wife Sharon of Beaver Creek, Ohio; a daughter, Judy Kirkham and husband Jim of Tinley Park; a sister, Mary Johnson of Nokomis; four grandchildren, Kyle Kirkham of Bartlett, Kevin Kirkham of Chesterton, Ind., Dan Brandt of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Michelle Manassah of Plainfield; and two great grandchildren, Emily Manassah and Emma Kirkham. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Charles, William, Isaac, John and Martin Brandt; and a sister, Emma Niemann. Services for Albert W. Brandt, of Litchfield, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Meinschein Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Revisky officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Musical selections were "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Irene Graden was the organist. Pallbearers were Steve Manassah, Kevin Kirkham, Kyle Kirkham, Dan Brandt, Larry Hartke, Larry Brandt. Mr. Brandt, 96, died Saturday, February 6, in Palos Heights.

Brandt, Louis E.

Services for Louis E. Brandt, of Farmersville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Zion Lutheran ELCA Church in Farmersville with the Rev. Kenneth Sandlin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Friends may call on Saturday in the church from 9 to 10 a.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Farmersville - Waggoner American Legion Post or the Zion Lutheran ELCA Church. Hough Memorial Home, Farmersville, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Brandt died at 2:13 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, in Pleasant Hill Village Nursing Home, Girard. He was 90 years old on May 29, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked as an auto mechanic. He was born in Springfield, a son of Edward F.W. and Mary Roth Brandt. He married Martha Birkenkamp on April 26, 1945, in Springfield; she died June 5, 1995. He was the last of his family.

Brannan, Scott

Scott Brannan, grandson of Fred and Joyce Mulvaney of Staunton, died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, in his home. He was 6 years old on August 3. He was born in Springfield, a son of Steven and Tina Brannan of Taylorville. They survive. Other survivors include brothers, Seth and Sean Brannan, both at home; grandparents, Maurice and Bev Brannan of Taylorville; great grandparents, Jack and Treva Burges of Mountain Home, Ark.

Bray, Cleta L.

Funeral Mass for Cleta L. Bray, of Girard, will be said at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Virden by the Rev. Father August Sparrow officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery, Farmersville. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hough Memorial Home, Farmersville. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Heart Fund. Mrs. Bray died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 1999, in Doctor's Hospital, Springfield. She was 79 years old on February 19. She worked as a waitress before she retired. She was born in Oklahoma, a daughter of James and Mary Havron Vollintine. She married Gerald Bray on June 13, 1937, in Farmersville in the rectory of the Catholic church. He died January 15, 1974. They had no children. Surviving are a brother, Cleo of Springfield; sisters, Eva Mortin of Oklahoma, Frances Aherin of Princeton, Mary Schmedeke of Carlinville. Preceding her in death were four brothers and three sisters.

Braye, Calvin H. Services for Calvin H. Braye, of Raymond, were held Sunday afternoon in Moffitt Funeral Home, Morrisonville. The Rev. Earl Turner officiated. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Nokomis. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Raymond - Harvel Ambulance Service. Mr. Braye died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 1999, in St. John's Hospice, Springfield. He was 74 years old on February 4, and an Army veteran. He spent most of his life in the Raymond area. He was a route salesman for Mickelberry Meat Company and also operated a service station. He was born in Butler, a son of Henry and Bessie House Braye. He married Norma Warnsing on March 6, 1953, in Springfield. She preceded him in death along with three brothers and a sister. Surviving are brothers, Dallas and Kenneth Braye, both of Nokomis; sisters, Loretta Irwin of Springfield, Bonnie Braye of Farmersville.

Bregant, Michael

Graveside service for Michael Bregant, formerly of Witt, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Witt Cemetery with the Rev. Orrin L. Johnson officiating. Mr. Bregant, of Minier, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 1998, in Bro Menn Regional Medical Center, Bloomington. He was 47 years old on May 8. He worked in purchasing at A.Y. McDonald Supply Company and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Minier. He was born in Witt, a son of Frank and Evelyn Davis Bregant, and was a graduate of Witt High School. Surviving are sisters, Carol Miller of Cottonwood, Ariz., Nancy Moreland, Copperas Cove, Texas; brothers, Richard Bregant of Flagstaff, Ariz., Robert Bregant of Chattam. Other survivors include a companion, Ronnie Melvin.

Bremer, Helen Louise

Helen Louise Bremer, last of the founding members of the Bremer Wildlife Sanctuary in rural Hillsboro, died Monday, February 15, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. She was 81 years old. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Henry and Hazel Hoes Bremer. After graduation from Hillsboro High School, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., graduating from there in 1937, and the Bryant-Stratton Business College in Chicago, graduating from there in 1938. She worked as a dining room supervisor at Menlo Junior College in Menlo Park, Calif., and for one year as a dormitory supervisor at Stephens College. She was employed by Columbia University in New York City as supervisor of the crew and football training tables, and also special parties. Upon her return to Illinois, she joined her father in the operation of the family farm. At her father's death the farming operation came to an end. In 1980, she and her sister, Betty, chose the Illinois Audubon Society to maintain their ideals of land preservation and protection. Thus the H&B Bremer Wildlife Sanctuary was formed. Helen Bremer served as its president until two years ago. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by her sister Betty. Surviving are cousins, John Wallis and wife Della of Portland, Oregon and Otto Bremer of Berkely, Calif. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Enduring Hills Cemetery, also known as the Bremer Cemetery, on the Bremer farm. Patton Memorial Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Hills Chapter of the Illinois Audubon Society, P.O. Box 395, Hillsboro, IL 62049.

Brewer, George A.

Services for George A. (Sonny) Brewer, Jr., of Sorento, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Perfetti Funeral Home there with the Revs. Phillip Schneider and Andrew Lovins officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Friday from noon until the time of service. Mr. Brewer died at 7:50 a.m. Monday, June 15, 1998, in Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Green ville. He was 72 years old on February 16. He was affiliated with the Sorento Assembly of God Church, and resided in many places during his ministry. He was born in Osage, Oklahoma, a son of George Atwell and Zela Catherine Winkleblack Brewer. His wife, the former Ludean Lowe, survives. Surviving are sons, Dr. David Brewer of San Francisco, Calif., Dr. Phillip Brewer of New Haven, Conn.; brothers, Paul Vernon Brewer of Antioch, Calif., Richard Harrison Brewer of Arlington, Texas; sisters, Virginia Ruth Cromeans of Granite City, Berniece Elizabeth Wall of Sorento, Catherine Maxine Baker of Aurora, Marcella Eva Walker of Creve Couer; and two grandchildren.

Brewer, Marie E.

Services for Marie E. Brewer, formerly of Gillespie, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kravanya Funeral Home there with the Rev. Arthur Roemer officiating. The remains will be cremated. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday one half hour before the service. The family suggests memorials be directed to the St. Anthony's Health Care Center Hospice in Alton. Mrs. Brewer, of Hartford, died at 8:32 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 1998, in St. Anthony's Medical Center. She was 71 years old on November 23. She was born in Carlinville, a daughter of Leonard and Mildred Gray Blevins. She married Max E. Brewer on June 15, 1968. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Paul Maguire of Jacksonville, Perry Maguire of Hillsboro, Phil Maguire of Litchfield, Danny Maguire of Ellsberry, Mo.; daughters, Peggy Moore of Godfrey, Patti Maguire of Litchfield, Pam Hall of Hartford, Diana Hendrickson of Litchfield; step son, Rick Brewer of Rolla, Mo.; brothers, Luke, Leonard, James, Richard and Thomas Blevins, all of Gillespie, Lindell Blevins of Troutman, N.C., Wayne Blevins of Dorchester; sisters, Edna Mae Releford, Viola Edwards, both of Gillespie, Clarissa "Babe" Troxel of Fallon, Nevada, Alberta Shemph of Peoria, Carolyn Rimar of Troy; 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Debra Ann Maguire; sisters, Marianna Peacock, Alvena Friend, Dorothy Blevins; and three grandchildren.

Brewer, Ralph V.

Services for Ralph V. Brewer, of Coffeen, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Perfetti Funeral Home, Sorento, with the Rev. Elmer Lynn Fenton officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Reno. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Carlinville Hospice or to the family. Mr. Brewer died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 1999, in his home after an illness of five months. He was 84 years old on October 20. He resided in Coffeen for the past six years and spent most of his life in the Reno and Sorento area. He was a member of the Laborers Union 1084 of Hillsboro. He was born south of Reno, a son of Lawrence T. and Ora "Glenn" Brewer. He married Frances Micenheimer on January 11, 1942, in Sorento. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Gale Brewer of Sorento, LeRoy Brwer of Coffeen, Randy Brewer of Green ville, Pat "Steve" Brewer of Mt. Olive, Rodney Brewer of Woburn; daughters, Karen Turner of Green ville, Margie Wall of Sorento, Kathy Cunningham of Eagarville, Darlene Brewer of Kinmundy; brother, Douglas Brewer of Oregon; sister, Nileene Kinderney of Licking, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were sisters, Nora and Freda White; a brother, Omer Brewer; and two grandchildren.

Breza, Michael A.

Services for Michael Albert Breza, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 a.m. today in Becker and Son Funeral Home there. The Rev. Father Ted Schelich officiated. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Marietta, Matt Marietta, Mark Thomas, and sons, Mike and Richard Breza and grandson, Mark Breza. Mr. Breza died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 1999, in Bohannon Nursing Home, Lebanon. He was 84 years old on August 4. He was a welder at Shell Oil Company in Wood River for many years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Mt. Olive, and an avid reader and bowler. He attended Benld Grade School and graduated from Benld High School in 1933 then graduated from David Rankin Vocational School in St. Louis. He was born in Benld, a son of Mike and Anna Banovic Breza. He married Mary Theresa Thomas on April 20, 1938, in Holy Trinity Church, St. Louis. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Michael Breza and wife Ann Marie of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Richard Breza of Brighton; daughter, Elaine Breza of Mt. Olive; two grandsons, Michael and Mark. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Holy Trinity Church, of which he was a member, or to the Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Briggs, Howard E.

Committal service for Howard E. Briggs, whose late wife was from Hillsboro, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Briggs died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 79 years old on September 3, and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 25 years before he retired in 1997. He was born in Green ville, a son of Alfred and Mata Kleinik Briggs. His married Leslie W. Brees in 1940 in Hillsboro; she died in 1988. Surviving are a son, David Briggs of Springfield; daughter, Sue Brooks of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Briggs, Jr., Ralph G.

Graveside service for Ralph G. Briggs, Jr., of Carlinville, will be held privately on Sunday in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Davis - Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Briggs died Wednesday, November 3, 1999, in an auto accident near Auburn. He was 75 years old on July 4. He was an engineer for Morse Diesel in Boston before he retired in 1989, and a member of Living Stones Fellowship of Litchfield. He was born in Upton, Mass., a son of Ralph G. and Blanche Styles Briggs. He married Fern Miclon in 1945, in Leominster, Mass. she survives. Surviving also are daughters, Judy Briggs of Carlinville, Sharon Gregory of Youngstown, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Phipps of Medfield, Mass; brothers, George Briggs of Clarkston, Mich., Kenny Briggs of Richmond, N.H.; a grandson and a great granddaughter.

Brines, Verne Eldon

Services for Verne Eldon "Bummy" Brines, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Becker and Son Funeral there with the Revs. Matthew Woodcock and Albert Chaney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Mt. Olive Ambulance Service or to Adopt A Pet. Mr. Brines died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 73 years old on February 3. He served as Mt. Olive Township supervisor for 24 years. A medical technologist, he first worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur. He then returned to Mt. Olive as a medical assistant to Dr. Frank B. Warner from 1949 until Dr. Warner retired in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Olive. He attended Mt. Olive schools, graduated from Mt. Olive High School in 1944, attended the University of Illinois, and graduated as a medical technologist from Gradwhol University in St. Louis. He loved the outdoors, enjoying coon hunting, fishing and taxidermy. He also played the guitar in several Mt. Olive area bands and was an avid dog lover. He was born in Mt. Olive, a son of Clem Henry and Naomi Cisel Brines. He married Doris Violet Gill on October 15, 1949, in the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Olive. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Kelly Brines and wife Kay, Warner Brines and wife Maria, all of Mt. Olive; daughters, Priscilla Monke and husband Donald of Plain City, Ohio, Jill Spencer and husband Clayton of Edwardsville; and six grandchildren, Travis, Holly and Nathan Monke, Valerie and Jeb Brines and Kyle Spencer. Others surviving include sisters in law, June Hinz and Rhoda Pegel, both of Mt. Olive, and a brother in law, John Pakovich of New Douglas. Preceding him in death were a brother, Clem Eugene Brines who was killed in action in World War II and a sister, Mary Sawyer. Following the services Friday, a meal will be served to family and friends in the Methodist Hall by the women of the church. Services for Verne Eldon "Bummy" Brines, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 this morning in Becker and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Matthew Woodcock and the Rev. Albert Chaney officiated. Eulogy was given by his son in law, Donald Monke. The pianist, Jane Kozielek, played "In the Garden" "Old Rugged Cross" "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Mr. Brine's favorite recording was also played, "If I Have Wounded Any Souls Today" by Marty Robbins. Pallbearers were sons, Warner Brines, Kelly Brines and sons in law, Don Monke, Clayton Spencer and grandsons, Jeb Brines and Nathan Monke. Honorary pallbearers were John Pakovich, Kyle Spencer, Bill Adams, Buel Scheller and Ralph Birdsell. Burial was in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Following the services a lunch was provided for family and friends in the Methodist Church Hall by the women of the church. Mr. Brines, 73, died Teusday, March 9, in St. Francis Hospital.

Bronstein, Irene

Irene Bronstein, of Staunton, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, October 11, 1998, in her home. She was 76 years old on January 17. She had resided in Staunton for 57 years and worked as a receptionist for her husband, optometrist Dr. Sol Bronstein, until 1982 when she retired. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Harry and Sarah Bloom. She married Sol Bronstein on February 4, 1939, in Chicago. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Gary Bronstein and wife Jean of Sunny, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara Haun and husband Bob of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Greg and Chad Bronstein, Shannon Mueller, Paula Hermann; and three great grandchildren, Jessica Mueller and Alex and Andrew Hermann. Preceding her in death were two brothers. No services are scheduled. Her remains were cremated. Williamson Fuenral Home, Staunton, was in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Brooks, George Willis

Services for George Willis (Sonny) Brooks, of Litchfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Crawford Holden Funeral Home, Jerseyville, with his son in law Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Kane Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Kane Cemetery. Mr. Brooks died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 1998, in the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital. He was 60 years old on October 7. He was a welder by trade and was employed for many years through union locals in Alton and St. Louis. He was born in Kane, a son of Vernis Leo and Marvell Talley Brooks. Surviving are daughters, Trinna Johnson of Litchfield, Mavis Jean Stone of Glendale, Tina Marie Brooks of Dunedin, Fla.; a brother, Robert Brooks of Roodhouse; sisters, Leola Stone of Roodhouse, Ida Kallal and Juanita Kallal, both of Kane, Diana Hammon of Roodhouse; and six grandchildren. Preceding him in death were an infant son and a sister, Mary Imogene Drake.

Brooks, Ulis

Ulis Brooks, whose wife is the former Dorothy Granier Baker of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, September 2, 1998, in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. He was 85 years old. Surviving besides his wife, Dorothy, of St. Louis, are two daughters, two sons, two step sons, Bob and Dick Baker, and numerous grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Burchholz Morturary, 2211 Clarkson road, Chesterfield,Mo.

Brookshier, Margaret L.

Services for Margaret Lorraine "Pat" Brookshier, of Taylor Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home, Litchfield, with Brother Ed Diveley, pastor of the Southside Church, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery at Lincoln. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Pat Brookshier Memorial Fund. Mrs. Brookshier died at 4 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in the home of her daughter in Raymond. She worked in many places, including Roller Derby Skate Corporation, Brown Shoe Company, both in Litchfield, the Manor Hotel in Hillsboro and Trails Inn. She also worked as a companion for senior citizens staying with them in their homes. She was a member of the Montgomery County Women's Pool League. She was born in Taylorville, a daughter of William Russell and Edith Viola Perry Hancock. She married John Walton Nalley in 1947 and they were later divorced. On April 15, 1961, she married Wallace Richard Brookshier. He died December 31, 1973. Surviving are sons, David Nalley Sr. and wife Sue of Bloomington, Richard Brookshier Sr. and wife Imogene of Normal, Mason Brookshier and wife Brenda of Irving; daughters, Mary Gould and husband Ed of Springfield, Donna Conder of Litchfield, Cheryl Rock and husband William of Green sboro, Ky., Linda Jackson and Husband Gene of Lincoln, Susan Groves and husband Tom of Raymond; a brother, Irving Hancock of Missouri; a sister, Ida Horn and husband Floyd of Butler; 22 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, William, John "Red" and Ross "Bob" Hancock and a sister, Evelyn Dvoracek. Services for Margaret Lorraine "Pat" Brookshier, of Taylor Springs, were held at 10 a.m. today in Plummer Funeral Home. Brother Ed Diveley, pastor of Southside Church, officiated. Burial was in Zion Cemetery in Lincoln. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art," "In the Garden" and the closing hymn, "Just a Closer Walk with Thee, recorded by Patsy Cline. Pallbearers were Darrin Conder of Bloomington, Donald Conder Jr. of North Carolina, Bobby Hancock of Butler, Dean Hancock and Ron Hancock, both of Coffeen, John W. Hancock of Irving, Russ Hancock of Fillmore, Terry Hancock of Litchfield. Following the committal service a meal was provided for family and friends by the Women of the Moose. Mrs. Brookshier, 73, died Monday, May 31, in Raymond.

Broverman, Theodora F.

Theodora F. Broverman, formerly of Gillespie, died Thursday, February 4, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 79 years old on November 19. A resident of Taylorville, she managed the St. Mary's Catholic School cafeteria program there for more than 30 years. She was born in Gillespie, a daughter of Louis and Anna Ross Grassel. Her first husband, Earl J. Baker, whom she marred in 1940, died in 1974. She married Harold "Porky" Broverman in 1982 and he died in 1983. Surviving are daughters, Luana Dees and husband Gerry of Kincaid, Jill Short and husband Floyd, Janet Chiavaro and husband Tony, all of Taylorville; a son, Gerald "Jerry" Baker and wife Linda of Springfield; a step son, Robert Broverman and wife Linda of Taylorville; a step daughter, Sandra Hafliger and husband Don of Taylorville; a brother, William Grassel and wife Martha of Hoffman Estates; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery there. Connolly - McClure Fuenral Home, Taylorville, is in charge of arrangements.

Brower, Cleo

Services for Cleo "Kelly" Brower, step father of Nancy Eggerman of Nokomis, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Sutton Funeral Home, Taylorville, with the Rev. Randy Myers officiating. Burial will be in Fraley Cemetery. Mr. Brower, of Taylorville, died Monday, May 3, 1999, in Meadow Manor Nursing Home. He was 81 years old on August 12. He was a lineman for CIPS before he retired. He was born in Edwardsport, Ind., a son of James and Ruby Sanders Brower. He married Maxine Clements in 1953, in Taylorville. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Edward Brower of Rose Hills, Kan.; step sons, Larry Eggerman of Taylorville, Ernest Eggerman of Carthage, Texas; daughter, Marjory Adams of Minnetrista, Minn.; other step daughters, Donna Stephens of Taylorville, Colleen Bowman, Helen Mason, both in Indiana, Dorothy Gaynth in California; and many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Brown, Sr., Billy D.

Services for Billy D. Brown, Sr., of Irving, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis, with the Rev. Orville Denton officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. Mr. Brown died at 5 a.m. Monday, July 26, 1999, in Doctors Hospital, Springfield. He was 68 years old on July 22. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of the Nokokoms AF&AM Lodge 456. He was born in Bingham, a son of Morris and Idola Forbus Brown. His first wife, the former Lora Lowe and his second wife, the former Carol Gibbons, both survive. Surviving also are three children, Billy D. Brown Jr. of Nokomis, Judy F. Pearse of Decatur, George M. Brown of Pana; step daughters, Mischelle Merritt of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dawn Donaldson of Tuscola; brothers, Donald Cerlock of Coalton, Michael Cearlock of Kincaid, Keith Cearlock of Coalton; and seven grandchildren. A grandchild preceded him in death.

Brown, Clifford E.

Services for Clifford E. Brown, of Nokomis, were held at 11 today in Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Mary Etta Skinner officiating. Burial was in Nokomis Cemetery. Mr. Brown died at 6:25 a.m. Monday, July 20, 1998, in Golden Manor Nursing Home, Nokomis. He was 67 years old on March 21. He was an avid gardener and operated a green house. He was also a barber, and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a son of James R. and Dora Stanley Brown and married Patricia Staples. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Cindy Ginos and husband Mark of Irving, Lisa Brown of Nokomis; sister, Martha Cox of Butler; and three grandchildren, triplets. Preceding him in death were brothers, Raymond, James, Lloyd, Robert Williams, James Darrel and Robert Brown; sisters, Iola Day, Doris West, Evelyn Pearl, Mae Michaels and Grace Brown.

Brown, Dolly

Services for Dolly Brown, of rural Walshville, were held at 1 p.m. today in the Walshville Christian Church. The Revs. Keith McCaslin and David Carnine officiated. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Christian College in St. Louis. Perfetti Funeral Home, Sorento, was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. Brown died at 8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 93 years old last May 12. She spent her early life in Sorento then moved to St. Louis. In 1936, she moved to Walshville where she spent the rest of her life. She enjoyed the outdoors. She was a member of the Walshville Christian Church. She was born in Bond County, a daughter of Charles and Ida May McGilvary. She married James R. Brown on March 3, 1937, in St. Louis. He died March 9, 1979. A daughter, Naomi Titsworth, wife of Charles Titsworth of rural Walshville, died March 17, 1997. A sister, May File, also preceded her in death. Surviving are granddaughters, Michelle Gash of Ashburn, Va. and Keely Mullins of Litchfield

Brown, Elizabeth

Services for Elizabeth "Liz" Brown, of rural Raymond, are pending at Bass Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Mrs. Brown died at 10 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999, in her home. She was 82 years old on March 26. She resided all of her life on the family farm where she was born. She was a daughter of William and Mollie Weller Fricke. She married James Brown on October 21, 1936, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Farmersville, and they resided on the same farm. She continued to live there even after her husband's death in 1984. The couple had no children. Surviving are sisters, Mary Tester, Genevieve Keiser, both of Nokomis, and Opal Huff of Langleyville along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were four sisters, Helen Wells, Louise Short, Lydia Tester and Delilah in infancy. Graveside service for Elizabeth A. "Liz" Brown, of rural Raymond, was held at 10 a.m. Sunday in St. Raymond's Cemetery. The Rev. Father Ted Schelich, chaplain at St. Francis Hospital, officiated. No visitation was held. Mrs. Brown, 82, died Thursday, June 10, in her home. Her obituary was in Friday's paper.
