Brown, Fred W.

Fred W. Brown, of Springfield, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, in Carlinville Hospital. He was 70 years old on September 22, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. A 45 year resident of Carlinville, he was owner and operator of Brown Heating for 20 years and was chief engineer with Carlinville Hospital for 20 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, 20-year sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, member of Guy Baird American Legion Post 554 and the Macoupin Club. He was born in Altoona, Pa., a son of Fred W. and Mary Richardson Brown. He married Margaret Baird in 1949; she died in 1983. In 1991, he married Norma Snodgrass in Carlinville; she survives. Surviving also are sons, David R. and Daniel B. Brown, both of Carlinville; daughters, Marihelen Rogers of Yucaipa, Calif., Peggijane Stover of Carlinville; step sons, Mike Snodgrass of Valdosta, Ga., Tim Snodgrass of Mt. Olive; step daughters, Debbie Palazzolo of St. Louis, Ann Beeler of Raymond, Norma Snodgrass of Carlinville; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The remains have been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Heinz Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements.

Brown, Gordon Brian

Services for Gordon Brian Brown, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Christian Church of Litchfield with the Rev. Steve Revisky officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Meinschein Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Christian Church of Litchfield. Mr. Brown died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 1999, in Deaconess Hospital, St. Louis. He was 42 years old on January 2. He worked in general contracting as a laborer. He was born in St. Louis, a son of Clayton Alfred and Lorraine Rosemary Gordon Brown. Surviving are a son, Carl Andrew Brown and his parents, all of Litchfield, and a sister, Cindy Lynn Brown of St. St. Louis. Services for Gordon Brian Brown, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in The Christian Church of Litchfield. The Rev. Steve Revinsky officiated. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Musical selection was "Under His Wings." Kathleen Chandler was the vocalist. Gail Felts was the organist. Pallbearers were Doug Whitten, Ralph Bullar, Tom Graham, Kevin Bullar, Jim Gordon, Andy Bullar. Mr. Brown, 42, died Wednesday, February 17, in Deaconess Hospital, St. Louis.

Brown, Letha Irene

Services for Letha Irene Brown, mother of Elsie Kahl of Hillsboro, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home, Auburn, with the Rev. Linda Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. Mrs. Brown, of Auburn, died Monday, February 15, 1999, in her home. She ws 90 years old on September 17. She was a baker with the Southernview restaurant for 15 years before she retired in 1973. She was born in Aden, a daughter of Charles Edward and Grace Buchanan Baker. She married Ross H. Brown in 1925 in Springfield. He died in 1988. Surviving are sons, Clarence Brown of Springfield, Carl James Brown of Centralia, W. Gene Brown of Auburn, Charles Russell Brown of Dawson; other daughters, Wanda R. Affolter, JoAnn Jones, Judith O'Neil, both of Springfield, Bernice Kruse-White of New Berlin; brothers, Raymond, Russell, Floyd and Paul Baker of Springfield; sisters, Beulah Bodine, Helen Horn, both of New Berlin, Opal Tuxhorn of Pawnee, Alice Crow of California, Mary Cheffe of Springfield, Myrtle Koke of Petersburg; 31 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a son, Harold "Jake" Brown.

Brown, Mary W.

Mary W. Brown, sister of Josephine Leonard of Farmersville and Alice Stieren of Raymond, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998, in St. John's Hospice. Mrs. Brown, 89 years old on May 19, was a resident of Divernon. She was born in Cotton Hill Township, a daughter of Edward J. and Marie Albers Welsh. Her husband, Charles Harvey Brown, whom she married in 1930, died in 1968. Surviving besides the sisters aresons, George H. and Alan W. Brown, both of Divernon; daughters, Martha Marie Matte of Tucson, Ariz., Jean Applegate of Divernon and Jane Angelo of Guilford, Conn.; another sister, Mildred Klein of Divernon; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchidlren and a great great granddaughter. Services were held Friday in Divernon with burial in Brush Creek Cemetery there.

Brown, Merabah Jean

Merabah Jean Brown, great granddaughter of the Rev. William and Maribah Jean Laughlin of Litchfield, died Sunday, October 18, 1998, in Fort Collins, Colo. She was 16 days old. She was born on October 2 in Fort Collins, a daughter of Jeffrey and Gail Brown of Fort Collins. Surviving besides her parents and the Laughlins are grandparents, Bob and Linda Brown of Thornton; Orville and Jean Welmann of Cheyenne, Wy.; and a great grandmother, Mary Brown of Bloomington. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Northglenn, Colorado. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery at Longmont. Horan and McConathy Funeral Service, Denver, Colo., is in charge of arrangements.

Brown, Robin W.

Memorial services for Robin William Brown, of Lake KaHo, Mt. Olive, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, in the Religious Center at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, with the Angelical Archbishop Hartley Ward officiating. Afterwards the family will receive friends in the Art and Design Atrium at the university until 6 p.m. Becker and Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers memorial contributions be directed to the Mt. Olive Public Library. Mr. Brown, chairman of the Art department at the university, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 52 years old on December 16. He had chaired the Art department for the past 10 years. Prior to that he was a professor for seven years at Lyndon College, Lyndonville, Vermont. He earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y. He was born in Kirby Moorside, England, a son of Thomas Alec and Cynthia Grey Brown. He married Edith Bell on August 8, 1987, in the Meeting House Church in Burke Hollow, Vermont. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Jamin and William Brown, both of Portland, Maine; brothers, Michael Brown and wife Lynda of Arlington Heights, Glynn Brown of Elgin; a sister, Dianne Frank and husband Laurence of Streamwood. Services and burial will take place in Burke Hollow, Vermont. On Friday, the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. in Woods Trefren and Pearson Funeral Home at Lyndonville, Vermont. Saturday, services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Meeting House Church at Burke Hollow with the Rev. Robert Leno officiating. Burial will be in the Meeting House Cemetery.

Brown, Ruth Narcissus

Services for Ruth Narcissus Brown, mother of Marcia Eller of Hillsboro, were held this afternoon in Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mrs. Brown, of Vandalia, died at 11:04 a.m. Monday, August 3, 1998, in Fayette County Hospital there. She was 71 years old on March 30. She was born in rural Ramsey, a daughter of John Walter and Sina F. Murphy Morell. She married the Rev. Noah Caselton Brown on February 1, 1946, in Ramsey. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Charles Reed, Ricky, Scott and Kevin Brown, all of Vandalia; other daughters, Phyllis Brown of Oconee, Rhonda Miller of Jefferson City, Mo., Dawn Crain of Vandalia; brothers, Edmond Morell of Marshfield, Mo., Charles Morrell of Jerseyville, John Mac, Ray, Roy and Ralph Morrell, all of Ramsey; sisters, Martha Hicks of Lakewood, Virginia Pierce of Maricopa, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were twin sons, two brothers and a sister.

Brown, Walter V.

Walter V. Brown, formerly of Hillsboro, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in Lexington Health Care Center, Lake Zurich. He was 92 years old on May 28, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He taught science and history at Hillsboro High School before World War II. Following his military service, he worked for a time with the Illinois State Department of Education and the American Legion, informing veterans of their rights and opportunities for education. He was born in Mulberry Grove, and was reared in Hillsboro graduating from high school there in 1925. Surviving are a son, John Gale Brown of Harvard, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceding him in death were his first wife, the former Alma Bertha "Bonnie" Brooks; his second wife, the former Elizabeth McCredie; a daughter, Mierley Jean Brown Bailey; five brothers, including Hillsboro attorney McLin Brown; and a sister. Graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.

Brown, William

Services for William Brown, of Wilsonville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, with the Rev. Mike Paddaock officiating. Burial will be in Benld City Cemetery with bagpipes played by Bill Rogers. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Mr. Brown died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 85 years old on February 13. He retired from Laclede Steel in Alton where he worked as supervisor in the service department. Before that he worked for the Superior Coal Company and was a member of the Progressive Coal Miners. He was also a member of the Gillespie Country Club. He was born in Blayerte, Scotland, a son of Norman and Mary Rooney Brown. He married Emma Patrick on January 4, 1935, in Gillespie. She survives. Surviving also are sons, William L. and Norman Brown of Wilsonville, Donald Brown and wife Kathy of Staunton, Robert Brown and wife Debbie of Gillespie; daughters, Pat Frensko and husband Larry of Benld, Mary Ann Nash of Gillespie, Margaret Paddock and husband Mike of Godfrey, Nancy Bearden and husband Kent of Benld; brothers, Phil and Robert Brown, both of Gillespie; sisters, Kate Michelson of California and Mary Jackson of Benld; 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death brothers, Norman and Peter Brown and sisters, Agnes Klein and Margaret Brown.

Brunetto, Mary L.

Services for Mary Leone Brunetto, of Benld, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be in Benld City Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday in the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Mrs. Brunetto died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999, in St. Frances Hospital. She was 83 years old on February 13. She was born in South Wilmington, a daughter of Pete and Angelina Giroddo Leone. She married John Brunetto on August 7, 1943, in Benld. He survives. Preceding her in death were a brother, Anton Leone and a sister infancy.

Bruntjen, Louise Polston

Services for Louise Polston Bruntjen, of Litchfield, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvel, with the Rev. Kit Belk officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Raymond. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Hough Funeral Home, Raymond, or from noon until the time of service Tuesday in the church. Mrs. Bruntjen died Friday, July 24, 1998, in Cori Manor Nursing Home, Fenton, Mo. She was 84 years old on June 8. She was a telephone operator years ago, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel and the VFW in Litchfield. She was born in Irving, a daughter of Joseph and Minnie Wilson Polston. She married Chris Bruntjen on August 16, 1953, in Raymond. He died in 1967. Surviving are a son, Chris Bruntjen Jr. of Walshville; brothers, Ronald Polston of Raymond, Robert Polston of Taylorville; sisters, Lillian Herzog and Alberta Griffin, both of Taylorville; and two grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Roscoe, Joseph, Woodrow and Wilbur Polston and a sister, Alice Perry.

Bruntjen, Melvin E.

Funeral arrangements for Melvin E. Bruntjen, of Raymond, are pending at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Mr. Bruntjen, 87, died at 7:50 this morning, Friday, September 4, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Services for Melvin E. Bruntjen, of Raymond, were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church there. The Rev. Herb Goeltzer officiated. Burial was in Harvel Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Raymond Harvel Ambulance Service. Mr. Bruntjen died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, September 4, 1998, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 87 years old on July 4. He was a farmer and a livestock dealer, and was a life member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and a member of the Raymond Harvel Kiwanis Club. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Harvel and taught Sunday School there for many years. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Raymond. He was born in Harvel in Rountree Township, a son of John and Mary Potter Bruntjen, and attended the Prairie School. He married Helen Johnson in 1934 in St. James Lutheran Church at Harvel. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Harold Bruntjen and wife Darlene of Harvel, Carl Bruntjen and wife Loretta of Waggoner; a daughter, Mary Snyder and husband Jack of Raymond; sisters, Margaret Bates and husband Wayne of Raymond, Hazel Fogler of Columbus, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a brother, John Bruntjen in 1986 and a sister, Esther Crawford in 1993.

Bryant, Kenneth Allen

Services for Kenneth Allen Bryant, formerly of the local area, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mark's Mortuary, Wood River, with the Rev. Kenneth Clark officiating. Burial will be in Wanda Cemetery at South Roxana. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Bryant died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, December 6, 1998, in St. Clare's Hospital, Alton. He was 43 years old on July 31. He was employed in the parts department at Mike's Marine in South Roxana and previously worked for the Montgomery County Highway Department for 13 years. He was born in Alton, a son of Earl and Rosetta Hagen Bryant. Surviving are sons, Kelly Bryant of Seward, Neb., Kurtis Bryant of Neoba; his father, Earl Bryant of Brighton; brothers, Mitch Bryant and wife Sue, David Bryant and wife Sharon, all of Gillespie, Kevin Bryant of Cottage Hills; sisters, Dixie Lamparter and husband George, Sharon Bryant, all of Gillespie, Jean Halcom and husband Irvin of Brighton, Sandra WEaver and husband Bill of Katy, Texas, Brenda Bryant of South Roxana. Preceding him in death were his mother, Rosetta Bryant; brothers, Paul and Danile Bryant and a sister, Ruth Antrobus.

Bryant, Kenneth D.

Services for Kenneth D. Bryant, formerly of Gillespie, were held this morning in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Bryant, of Springfield, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, in St. John's Hospital there. He was 79 years old on September 19. He was an over the road truck driver for Springfield Produce Company before he retired. He was born in Gillespie, a son of Asa and Alice Mae Hamilton Bryant. His wife, the former Geraldine L. Johnson, survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Shrolynn Sue Hammitt of Chatham; brothers, William, Robert and Asa Bryant, all of Springfield; and four grandchildren.

Bryce, Mildred LaRue

Services for 105 year old Mildred LaRue Bryce, of Irving, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bass Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Gloria Davis, pastor of the Irving United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Irving Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Irving United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bryce died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, October 19, 1998, in Hillsboro Health Care Center, having observed her 105th birthday on June 2. She spent most of her life in the Irving area. She assisted her husband, Ralph with farming on the Bryce family homestead and was a graduate of Irving High School. She was an active member of the Irving United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors, Methodist Women's Society and a long time member of the choir. She was born in Irving, a daughter of John and Cora Austin Grantham. She married Ralph Bryce on November 24, 1915, in the Irving Methodist Church. He died November 10, 1968. Surviving are grandchildren, Penny Sue Bales and husband Lee of Fairview Heights, Nathan Bryce and wife Nancy of Irving, Greg Bryce and wife Doris of Irving; and great grandchildren, Ricky Bryce of Westmont, Tara Bryce of Little Rock, Ark., Dan Bryce and Lisa Bryce, both of Irving. Other survivors include daughters in law, Toots Bryce and Helen Bryce, both of Irving. Preceding her in death were sons, Geroge Bryce on March 18, 1974 and Robert Bryce on June 28, 1995; brother, Austin Grantham; sisters, Bertha Wright and Edith Grantham.

Bubb, Harvey S.

Harvey S. Bubb, formerly of Litchfield, died at 9:04 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 1998, in Astoria Health Care Center. He was 95 years old on August 11. He taught in the Possum Hollow School near Astoria in the early 1920s, and also worked at Bubb Produce in Astoria. He worked as a superintendent for the post engineer at Camp Ellis in Ipava in 1942. He also worked as a bookkeeper for Rouland Trucking in Jacksonville. He wrote a column, "Possum Hollow Nostalgia," for the Argus Searchlight in Astoria, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Astoria Church of the Brethren. He was born in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of Jesse and Sarah Bucher Bubb. He married Verna Horton on September 15, 1923, in Astoria. She died August 14, 1983. Surviving are daughters, Margery McMullen of Ipava, Helen Wright of Williamsville and formerly of Litchfield, Marilyn "Peg" Danner of Astoria, Shirley Smith of White Hall; a son, Harvey Bubb, Jr. of Bethany, Okla.; brothers, Ernest Bubb of St. Joseph, Mich., Eldon of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a sister, Flora Anderson of Chula Vista, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, including Kerry Wright of Williamsville and James Wright of Litchfield, 21 great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren. Services were held Monday in Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. The Rev. Gary Schultz officiated. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery there.

Buchanan, Ethel E.

Services for Ethel E. Buchanan, sister of Elbert Austin and Doris Young of Coffeen, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Liberty Baptist Church, Green ville, with the Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemtery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday in Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home, Green ville. Mrs. Buchanan, of Mulberry Grove, died at 10:47 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, in Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Green ville. She was 90 years old on January 10. She was an LPN and worked at Utlaut Hospital for 11 years before she retired. She had also worked at Eakin Egg Company and during the war at Olin Industries in Alton. She also worked on the family farm. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was born in Montgomery County near Mt. Moriah Cemetery, a daughter of Jessie James and Coralie Heckman Austin. She attended the New Boston School and the Donnellson High School. She married Harold Buchanan on January 13, 1927. He survives. Surviving also are daughters, Louise Reeves of Mulberry Grove, Dorothy Hawley of Pocahontas, Nina George of Collinsville; son, Donald K. "Buck" Buchanan of Green ville; another sister, Mildred Martin of East Alton; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

Buchner, Virginia M.

Virginia Marie Buchner, formerly of Litchfield, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, September 13, 1999, in her home in Rantoul. She was 75 years old on December 6. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of William and Rose Saathoff Arends. She married Donald Buchner on November 11, 1944, in Litchfield. He died May 28, 1991. Surviving are sons, Dennis Buchner of Gifford, Jim Buchner of San Lorenzo, Calif., Tom Buchner of Glen Ellyn; a sister, Evelyn Moehle of Litchfield; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday in the American Lutheran Church at Rantoul. Burial was in Eden Park Cemetery there.

Buck, Louis J.

Services for Louis J. Buck, formerly of New Douglas, were held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Lesicko Funeral Home there. The Rev. Richard Feyen officiated. Burial was in New Douglas Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to Hitz Memorial Home, Alhambra. Mr. Buck died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, September 10, 1999, in the Hitz Memorial Home. He was 96 years old on June 12. He worked for the New York Central Railroad for 40 years, last working out of Livingston and retiring as section foreman. He was mayor of New Douglas from 1952 to 1958. He was a member of the New Douglas Volunteer Firefighters, serving as trustee and secretary for the New Douglas Community Fire Protection District. He was also a member of the 3-M Firefighters Association, the Madison County Firefighters Association, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Staunton. He was born in Pana, a son of John and Minnie Eilers Buck. He married Minnie Hildebrand on October 14, 1923, in Ohlman. She died September 12, 1994. Surviving are a son, Dale Buck and wife Marie of Palm Desert, Calif.; daughter, Donna Mohme and husband Leonard of Highland; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Allen, Lana Simning, Debi Buck, Jordan Buck, Sandy Hogg, Lisa Beck and Larry Mohme; 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A brother, Harry Buck, preceded him in death.

Buckley, Maxine E.

Services for Maxine Elizabeth Frix Buckley, mother of Carol Harty of Taylor Springs, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Richmond, Va. Burial will be in the Hampton National Cemetery at Hampton, Va. Mrs. Buckley died Monday, February 15, 1999, in Richmond. She was 90 years old on May 19. She was born in Charlotte, N.C., a daughter of James Brownlee and Hatie Warlick Payne Frix, and moved to Richmond at the age of 8. She married Dr. Millard Robert Buckley on August 8, 1931, in Severn Cross Roads, Md. He died April 25, 1960, in Newport News, Va. She returned to Richmond in 1979. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints and the William Byrd Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. An avid genealogist and member of several genealogical societies, she served as one of the original ordinance workers in the Washington, D.C., temple from 1975 to 1979. Surviving are daughters, Margaret Buckley of Colony, Va., Eleanor Nowitzky and husband Miles of Fayetteville, N.C., and Carol Harty and husband Paul of Taylor Springs; sisters, Alice Frix Booth and Frances Atkinson, both of Richmond; and 11 grandchildren, including Randolph, Joshua, Nathaniel, Dale and Adrienne Harty, all of Taylor Springs. Preceding her in death were a brother, Alton G. Frix and a grandson, Chip Nowitzky.

Buckmaster, William H.

Services for William Harold Buckmaster, of Mt. Olive, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Woodcock officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Mr. Buckmaster died at 7:31 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 1998, in Mt. Olive. He was 93 years old on April 21. He retired in 1968 as a foreman with Granite City Steel after working there for 19 years. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Granite City. He attended grade school and high school in Indiana. He was born in Bern, Ind., a son of Albert and Susan R. Elliott Buckmaster. He married Dorotha Fern Williams Holder on February 2, 1957, in Benton. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Phyllis Stewart and husband Elmore of Reno, Nevada; brother, Leland Buckmaster of Michigan; sister, Naomi Coffman of Tucson, Arizona; a grandson, David Tordeur, two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Lois Marquiss; brothers, Harry, Stanley, Clarence, Ivan, Jess, Clyde, Virgil and Joe; sisters, Iva Finley and one in infancy; and a grandson, Richard Tordeur. Services for William Harold Buckmaster, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home there. The Rev. Matthew Woodcock officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olive City Cemetery. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace," "There's Something About That Name," and "Dear Lord Forgive." Rose Messner was the pianist. Pallbearers were David Six, Bob Boyer, Gary Nelson, Dean Brown, Tom Walker and Paul Echols. Mr. Buckmaster, 93, died Saturday, December 26, in Mt. Olive.

Budd, Andree' M.

Services for Andree' M. Budd, formerly of Litchfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Kirlin - Egan and Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Render officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Contact Ministries, 1100 East Adams, Springfield, IL 62703. Mrs. Budd, of Springfield, died at 2:43 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1999, in Northwest Suburban Community Hospital. She was 49 years old on February 24. She worked as a realtor since 1987 and was a member of the Springfield Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association and the National Association of Realtors. She was also manager of Women's World at White Oaks Mall for many years. She was a long time volunteer with Contact Ministries, where she was administrator of the Project Relief program for individuals and families who require utility assistance from the power company, CWLP. She coordinated the "Adopt a Family" program for Christmas, planned activities for other holidays throughout the year and assisted with many fund raising events. She was named Volunteer of the Year and received the Sid Wood Memorial award from Contact Ministries in 1984. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of John and Laurence Mole' Gurley. Besides her parents, who live in Springfield, other survivors include a brother, Richard Gurley and wife Victoria of Maryville and their daughter, Amy; and many relatives in France.

Bunning, Richard

Richard LeRoy Bunning, brother of Lorraine Murphy of Nokomis, died at 3:08 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 1998, in his home in Moweaqua. He was 77 yaers old on March 28. He was a farmer for many years, and an avid coin collector. He was born in Moweaqua, a son of William and Anna Zimmerman Bunning. He married Hazel Thomas on March 17, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Mary Ann Dry of Decatur, Margaret Milligan of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Robert of Moweaqua; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church of Moweaqua. Burial will be in Long Grove Cemetery in rural Macon.

Burgard, Magel K.

Memorial service for Magel Krummel Burgard, daughter of Mary Krummel of Donnellson, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Christian Church of Hillsboro with the Rev. Harry Meyer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Donnellson Cemetery. Mrs. Burgard died Sunday, August 29, 1999, in her home in Rochester, N.H. She was 68 years old on February 18. She was born in Madison, S.D., a daughter of Albert "A.J." and Mary Krummel, reared in Donnellson, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1949, and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign. She married John P. Burgard on July 3, 1953, in Pennsylvania. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Phillip Burgard of Kinnelon, N.J., Kevin Burgard of Dallas, Texas, Brett Burgard of Plakton, N.H.; daughter, Alecia Ricco of Seattle, Wash.; brother, Fred Krummel of Donnellson; sister, Shirley Passley of Chesterfield, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her father, Albert Krummel; brother, Williamson Todd Krummel; and a granddaughter, Jessica Leaf.

Burger, Beulah

Beulah Burger, mother of Peggy Hammann of Waggoner, died Thursday, September 9, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was 77 years old on August 23. She was born in Carlinville, a daughter of Cecil and Beulah Baugh Denby. She married Loren H. Burger in 1937; he died in 1985. Surviving besides Mrs. Richard Hammann, are another daughter, Bonnie Wills of Carlinville; sisters, Maxine Tonsor and Mary Kitzmiller of Medora; four grandchildren and one great grandson. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Zion Lutheran Church of Carlinville. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery there. Davis Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Burgess, Lillian M.

Services for Lillian M. Burgess, of Gillespie, were held at 1 p.m. today in Kravanya Funeral Home there. The Rev. Father Larry Auda officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Edwardsville. Mrs. Burgess died at 9 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 76 years old on September 19. She was the owner and operator of Val and Lil's restaurant in Gillespie for 15 years, of Uncle Charlie's restaurant in Granite City for 19 years and currently of Val and Lil's Lawn Ornament and Flea Market in Gillespie. She was a member of the VFW Post 4547 auxiliary in Gillespie. She was born in Pilot Knob, Mo., a daughter of Mathew and Rose Pare Kozyak. She married Val Burgess on May 7, 1966, in Granite City. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Bob Ferratto of Edwardsville, Gib Ferratto of Staunton, Randy Burgess of Alton; daughters, Barbara Weldon of Winter Haven, Fla., Sheila Shelton of Imperial, Mo.; brothers, William Kozyak of Glen Carbon, Mathew "Junior" Kozyak of Granite City; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a daughter, Jeanna Ferratto.
