Mr. Thomas E. Weeks
Thomas E. Weeks, 58, of Jacksonville died Saturday evening, July 6, 2002 in Springfield. He was born on December 13, 1943 in Jacksonville, the son of Everett and Dollie McDaniel Weeks. He married Susan Ryan on September 2, 1966 at Central Christian Church in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Jeff (wife, Katie) Weeks of Chicago; two daughters, Amy Arnold of Concord and Megan (husband, Sean) Noonan of Springfield; four grandchildren, Zachary Bunch of East Peoria, Shelby Arnold and Ryan Arnold of Concord, and Macy Noonan of Springfield; his mother, Dollie Atchison of Chapin; one brother, John (wife, Kathy) Atchison of Franklin; two sisters, Linda Kelley of Chapin and Maryann (husband, Chuck) Gaudio of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and his step-father by whom he was raised, Kenneth Atchison.
Tom was a fraud investigator with the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Springfield. He retired from the Jacksonville Police Department in 1996 after 25 years of service. He served as Chief of Police his last nine years with the department.
Tom was a graduate of Triopia High School and was a member of the first undefeated football team in the school’s history. He attended Illinois College and graduated from Sangamon State University in Springfield. He was also a graduate of the National FBI Academy and various police training programs. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Tom was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church in Jacksonville and had sung with the church choir. He was a former member of the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club and an avid golfer. The biggest joy in his life was spending time with his wife and family. One of his greatest honors was being a grandpa.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2002 at Central Christian Church in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Thomas E. Weeks Memorial Fund, being established to benefit various youth programs.

Ms. Martha Weise
Martha Weise, 66, of Jacksonville, died Friday afternoon, October 24, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on October 29, 1935 in Bloomington, the daughter of John and Bernice Weise. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Immanuel East Cemetery in Jacksonville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Imogene Flowers Welch (Flowers)
Imogene Flowers Welch, 70, of Carrollton was died Monday May 27, 2002
at 7:34 A.M. at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
Born on Jan. 19, 1932 in Woodville Twp. she was the daughter of the
late Jesse and Ethel Hires Flowers.
She first married James “Dick” Childress on Dec. 24, 1949. They later
divorced. She later married Melvin Welch on April 2, 1989 and he preceded
her in death on May 29, 1989. Surviving are: a daughter and son-in-law
Marie and Ron Stuart of Carrollton, 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Danny and
Renee Childress of Brighton and Mark and Donna Childress of Carrollton.
There are 7 grand and 4 great grandchildren, two brothers: Kenneth (wife
Irene) Flowers of Rosewood Heights and Harry (wife Helen) Flowers of
Carrollton, a sister Eva (husband Richard) McFain of Carrollton. She was
preceded in death by a daughter Diane (Danny’s twin) 4 brothers: Jerry,
Murrel, Keith and James “Red” Flowers and a sister: Viola Cadle.
Imogene had worked as a nurses aide and as a housewife. She will be
missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wed. at the Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Thursday at 10 A.M. with
burial to follow in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
the Meals on Wheels or the Green e Co. Visiting Nurses.

Mr. Lloyd E. West
Lloyd E. West, 73, of Murrayville, died Saturday evening, November 2, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on August 8, 1929, in Jacksonville, the son of Lloyd C. and Pauline Griffith West. He married Shirley Martinson on May 16, 1953 in Kushequa, Pennsylvania, and she survives. He is also survived by one son, Glen (wife, Kelly) West of Geneva; one daughter, Kendra (husband, Kevin) Moore of West Lebanon, Indiana; two grandchildren, Shane Moore and Allessandra West; one sister, Norma (husband, Larry) Long of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was a Korean-era Marine veteran, having served as a drill sergeant stationed at Quantico, Virginia. He farmed most of his life near Murrayville and enjoyed golfing in his spare time. He was a life member of the Jacksonville Elks Lodge. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2002 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Murrayville Ambulance Fund, Jacksonville Elks Little League, or the donor’s choice. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edith Marie Westerhold (Campbell)
Edith Marie Westerhold, age 90, of White Hall, died Saturday
afternoon, Feb. 2, 2002 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
She was born Sept. 16, 1911 at home west of Belltown on High
Street, the daughter of Roy and Lila Hildebrant Campbell.
She married Alfred Westerhold on Feb. 18, 1932 in White Hall and
he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1985.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Wayne Westerhold of Cary,
NC and Frederick Westerhold of Houston, TX; two great grandchildren,
Brian and Benjamin; and one brother, Don Campbell of Williamsville. She
was preceded in death by one son, Wayne E. Westerhold (surviving wife,
Bernice of Cary, NC).
Mrs. Westerhold was a long time resident of Alton and worked at
Myers Brothers Department Store in Alton for many years before retiring
and moving back to White Hall. She was a member of the White Hall
Presbyterian Church.
Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Private committal services
will be held at a later date at the White Hall Cemetery. Memorials are
suggested to the White Hall Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Robert H. White
Robert H. White, 77, of Concord, died Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2002 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on April 18, 1925 in Alexander, the son of George Martin and Mary Ann Ridder White. He married Barbara Scott on November 25, 1950 in Waverly and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, John W. “Jack” (wife, Beth) White of Arenzville and William D. “Bill” (wife, Peggy) White of Virginia; two daughters, Monica S. White of Concord and Marcie (husband, Kevin) DeGroot of Arenzville; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, George M. White of Waverly and John (wife, Anita) White of Abingdon; and two sisters, Mary Kay White of Jacksonville and Frances White of Waverly. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Scott White, and one grandson, Kyle DeGroot. Mr. White retired in 1985 from Oscar Mayer at Beardstown, after 17 years of employment. He served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in Germany, France, England, and Scotland. He attended the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed lawn mowing and snow removal with his John Deere lawn tractor. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church at Waverly with burial at St. Sebastian Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12:30 until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. David "Duke" White
David E. “Duke” White, Sr., 69, of Franklin, died Saturday evening, December 28, 2002, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on June 29, 1933, in rural Morgan County, the son of Edward and Josephine Fortado White. He married Marjorie L. Long on November 23, 1952 in Franklin and she survives. He is also survived by three sons, David Eugene “Buddy” (wife, Paula) White, Jr. of Franklin, Richard Edward (fiancé Mary Collard) White of Winchester, and Gary L. “Cork” White, Sr. of Franklin; four daughters, Brenda “Berne” (husband, Glenn) York of Jacksonville, Cindy L. White of Jacksonville, Pam (husband, Carl) Colwell of Franklin, and Tina M. (husband, Mike) Coop of Jacksonville; twenty-one grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Joe (wife, Debra) White of Waverly, John (wife, Deb) White of Springfield, George “Butch” White of Franklin, Donald (wife, Ella) White of Jacksonville, and Robert “Bob” (wife, Linda) White of Jacksonville; five sisters, Mary Green of Jacksonville, Delores “Sis” (husband, Bob) Flynn of Jacksonville, Connie (husband, Ron) Decker of Jacksonville, Linda “Susie” (husband, Charles) Ator of Winchester, and Betty (husband, Brian) Carl of Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Samuel Edward York and Gary L. White, Jr.; one brother, Charles White, and one infant sister. Prior to retirement, Mr. White was operations superintendent for the Pillsbury Company and Louis Dreyfus Elevator at Curran. Earlier in life he had worked at Orleans Elevator and farmed at Waverly. Following retirement, he worked for several area farmers and at the Woodson Sale Barn. He was a member of the Liar’s Club at Franklin, Indian Creek Trail Riders, and the Jacksonville Moose Club. Mr. White had coached Little League Baseball at Franklin and enjoyed quail hunting and fishing, and loved riding his mule, Kate. He also enjoyed going to auctions and watching John Wayne movies. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Franklin Cemetery or the Waverly Rescue Squad.

Mr. Larry Charles "Country Boy" White
Larry Charles “Country Boy” White, age 32, and his daughter Shelby Lyn “Sunshine” White, age 10, both of Griggsville, died Monday morning (February 18, 2002) at the scene of a one-vehicle accident north of Mt. Sterling, Ill. in Brown County, Ill..
Larry Charles White was born January 22, 1970 in Pittsfield, Ill. son of Larry White and Linda Neff White Stanberry.
He married Tammy Renee Kirgan on June 14, 1997 in Griggsville, Ill.. and she survives.
Also surviving are his parents, father, Larry White and wife Robin of Pleasant Hill, Ill. and his mother Linda Stanberry of Griggsville, Ill.; one son, Christopher White of home; one brother, Jim White of Jacksonville, Ill.; three sisters, Stephanie White Morse of Griggsville, Ill., Cassandra White and Tracy White both of Pleasant Hill, Ill., maternal grandparents, Roy and Darla Neff of Griggsville, Ill. and Betty Brasel of Beardstown, Ill.; maternal great-grandmother Bernice Neff of Pittsfield, Ill.; several aunts and uncles; great-aunt, Jessie Williams of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Charles White in infancy; paternal grandmother, Leona Rowley of Pittsfield, Ill. and paternal grandfather, Erbie White; maternal grandfather, Jim Brasel; maternal great-grandfather, Charles Neff; maternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Robinson; and an uncle Dickie White.
Larry was employed by Clinard Trucking in Mt. Sterling, Illinois. Larry was involved with Cub Scouting and was getting ready to take over the Griggsville Cub Scout Troop later this month. He was an avid sportsman and loved CB radio’s. His “handle” on the CB was “Country Boy”. He was a member of the Griggsville Nazarene Church where he was very active in the church. He enjoyed auto racing and was an avid Rusty Wallace fan and also followed the St. Louis Cardinals. He was very active with his children’s sports activities and tried never to miss a game. He also loved country music and playing his guitar.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday (February 22, 2002) at the Griggsville High School Gymnasium in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Dan King and Rev. Jeff Allen officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, Illinois. Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Griggsville Church of the Nazarene.

Miss Shelby Lynn White
Shelby Lyn White and her father, Larry Charles “Country Boy” White died Monday morning, February 18, 2002 at the scene of a one vehicle accident north of Mount Sterling, in Brown County, Illinois. She was born September 10, 1991 in Springfield, Ill. daughter of Larry Charles White and Tammy Dorzab.
Surviving is her mother, Tammy Dorzab Freand and step-father, Tim of White Hall, Ill.; her step-mother, Tammy White of Griggsville, Ill.; her brother, Christopher of home; a sister Amber Rose Hayes of Jacksonville, Ill. her maternal grandparents, Sandy Meline of Jacksonville, Ill.; and maternal step-grandmother, Linda DaValbiss of Jacksonville, Ill.; paternal grandparents, Linda Stanberry of Griggsville, Ill. and Larry White and wife Robin of Pleasant Hill, Ill.; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Brasel of Beardstown, Ill.; paternal great-great-grandparents, Roy and Darla Neff; step-grandparents, Larry and Janet Kirgan of Griggsville; maternal great-grandmother, Ann Meline of Jacksonville, Ill.; maternal step-great grandmother, Doris Bequeaith of White Hall, Ill.; step-brother and step-sister, Dennis Rabe and Carmen Freand both of White Hall, Ill.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her an infant brother, Lawrence Charles White; and a step-grandfather, Lonnie Freand.
Shelby Lyn was a 4th grade student at Griggsville-Perry Middle School in Perry, Ill.. She was actively involved with sports and loved softball and soccer. She loved to smile, roller skate, sing, and dance and was a past student at Stevens School of Dance. She was a Girl Scout in Troop #82.. She was a member of the children’s youth group at the Griggsville Nazarene Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday (February 22, 2002) at the Griggsville High School Gymnasium in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Dan King and Rev. Jeff Allen officiating. Mr. Frankie L. Whitefield
Frankie L. Whitefield, age 88, of Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Griggsville, Ill. died Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 23, 2002) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. He was born April 15, 1914 in New Salem, Ill. son of the late Frank Worthington and Mary Ann Miller Whitefield. He married Bernice Irene Bauch on January 30, 1937 in Monticello, Mo. and she preceded him in death on November 19, 1984. Surviving are three daughters, Darlene Harter and husband Bill of Pittsfield, Ill, Donna Hyde and husband Eddie of Macomb, Ill. and Diana Anthony and husband Paul of Griggsville, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Cathy Welch and husband Demetruis Welch and Doug Harter and wife Kim all of Pittsfield, Ill., Jeff Hyde and wife Debbie and Meleiah Gardner and husband Bill all of Blandinsville, Ill., J.R. Hyde and wife Jodi of Macomb, Ill., Anita Mathis and husband Keith of Conway, Ark., Laurie Walters and husband Jerry of Griggsville, Ill., Steve Shelton of Dallas, Texas and Tammy Gilbert and husband Melvin of Barry, Ill.; eighteen great-grandchildren, Ashley and MacKenzie Welch, and Kelsey, Bryce, and Cayden Harter all of Pittsfield, Ill., Jamie Link and Lacey Hyde, and Joel and Mattison Gardner all of Blandinsville, Ill., Brandon, Bridgette, and Allison Mathis all of Conway, Ark, Justin, Jessica and Alyssa Walters all of Griggsville, Ill., Megan Shelton of Houston, Texas, and Chris and Samuel Gilbert of Colorado; three sisters, Cleo Powell of Stockton, California, Grace Bauch of Perry, Ill., and Bessie Wagner of White Hall, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister, Erma Ritter. Mr. Whitefield farmed in Pike County as well as Brown County, Ill. for many years and was also caretaker for Bethel Cemetery near Griggsville, Ill.. He also worked at Ackel’s Orchard in Griggsville, Ill. as well as being a gate watchman for the Western Illinois Fair in Griggsville, Ill. He loved horses and horseback riding. He also had a rose garden and loved working with his roses. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (October 27, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, Ill. Visitation will be held from noon Sunday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ralph Wilmot Whitlock
Ralph W. Whitlock, 89, of Carrollton died at 7 P.M. on Friday at the Boyd
Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born in Jersey County on July 19, 1912 he was the son of the late Peter A.
and Rosa Lela Thiel Whitlock.
He married the former Virginia Lemon on Sept. 30, 1939 in Carrollton at
the First Baptist Church parsonage by Rev. Crouch and she survives.
Also surviving are: 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Lois and Martin
Andrews of Jerseyville, Judith and Darrell Runyon of Jacksonville, 7
grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 3 step great grandsons and a brother
and sister-in-law: Walter H. “Jack” and Mary Whitlock of Carrollton.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Mildred Irene Wagner, Helen Idela
Whitaker and an infant Edith Roberta Whitlock and 1 brother Edwin Beal
Whitlock.
Mr. Whitlock was a farmer and heavy equipment operator. He had
served as the first motion picture projectionist for the movie theater above
Schild’s store in Eldred from the silent pictures up to the “talkies” quitting in
1938. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9-11 on Saturday Feb. 9 at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton with memorial services at 11 A.M. that morning.
Interment of the cremains will be at the Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Eldred. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer and Related Disorders
Foundation or the American Heart Assn.

Ms. Vada Louise Whitmore
Vada Louise Whitmore, age 96, of the Pittsfield HealthCare Center in Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Perry, Ill. and Jacksonville, Ill. died Wednesday afternoon (November 13, 2002) at the care center. She was born May 6, 1907 in Fairmount Township, Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late Orville and Melvina Deeder Whitmore. Surviving is one brother, Eldred Whitmore of Perry, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Owen Whitmore, and two sisters, Dorothy Whitmore and Sylvia Fritsche. born and raised in the South Prairie area in Pike County, she was a graduate of Griggsville High School in Griggsville, Ill. and attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College in Macomb. She taught in various schools including Barry, Ill. and Springfield. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teacher’s Association. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (November 17, 2002) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. Burial will be in McCord Cemetery in Perry, Ill.. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Irene Edwards Wiley
Irene L. Edwards Wiley, 88, of Abingdon and formerly of rural Winchester passed away early Thursday morning (November 14, 2002) at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. She was born June 18, 1914 in Frostburg, Maryland the daughter of Rev. Guy M. and A. Elizabeth Douglas Taylor. She married Fred M. Edwards June 20, 1935 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death November 12, 1974. She married Loren A. Wiley August 20, 1983 in Abingdon and he survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Mark (wife Margie) Edwards of Winchester and Nolan (wife Chris) Edwards of Stoke Poges, England; 2 daughters, Diane McIntyre of Towanda, IL and Kathleen (husband Armyn) Daley of Allen, Texas. A sister LaVerne (husband Frank) Panish of Joliet, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Karen Edwards, a grandson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She graduated from high school in South Bend, Indiana. She worked as a dorm counselor for 16 years at the Illinois School for the Deaf, retiring in 1976. She was the choir director and pianist for the 1st Baptist Church in Winchester for many years. She moved to Abingdon in 1976. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church where she also played the piano. She enjoyed playing the piano and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (November 19, 2002) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Memorial contributions can be made to the Abingdon Christian Church or to the 1st Baptist Church in Winchester.

Mrs. Thelma Williams (Coonrod)
Thelma Coonrod Williams, age 96, of Belton, Missouri, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 2, 2002 at the Beautiful Saviour Nursing Home in Belton, Missouri. She was born Aug. 11, 1906 in Dayton, the daughter of Charles and Florence Hushman Knorr. She married Russell Coonrod of White Hall, Ill. on Sept. 3, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1970. She later married Carl Williams and he also preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, John Coonrod of Belton, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and three sisters, Ruth Spitz, Jean Schrier, and Virginia Gaynor. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilynn Coonrod Aufdemberge. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Blue Valley Chapter #2, Eastern Star where she was worthy Matron, District Deputy Grand Matron in 1960 and Grand Organist in 1963. She was also a member of the White Shrine where she was the Worthy High Priestess. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the White Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Williams (Miller)
Mary Elizabeth Williams, 85, of Jacksonville died Sunday evening, March 10, 2002 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown. She was born January 15, 1917 in Springfield the daughter of John Albert and Octavia Whitener Miller.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan (husband, John) Moseley of Sherman and Patricia (husband, Jerry) Cooper of Beardstown; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Miller and Michael Fox.
Mrs. Williams worked as a cook on a river barge for many years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jacksonville with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery.
