Mr. Thomas Herbert Hudson
Thomas Herbert Hudson, 85, of Westminster, California, died February 12, 2003 in Westminster. He was born on September 3, 1917, in White Hall, the son of Herbert and Lucy Irlam Hudson. He married Pauline Heinl on August 26, 1944, and she preceded him in death in December of 1982. He is survived by one brother, Charles Sandman; one niece, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward A. Hudson; and one sister, Illene Grady. Mr. Hudson took up permanent residency in California in 1974. He was a member of the Army Air Corp during World War II. He served as a Deputy Comptroller for 24 years with the United States Coast Guard Search and Rescue Operations, at Long Beach, California. He was a member of the Jacksonville Elks Lodge for over 60 years, and the American Legion Post 888 at Midway City, California. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2003, at Roberts Cemetery near Woodson. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Westminster Senior Citizen Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, California, 92683; or the American Kidney Foundation.

Mr. Herbert H. Hundley
Herbert H. “Hubie” Hundley, 74, of Jacksonville, died Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2003, at his residence. He was born April 7, 1929, in Lynnville, the son of William Anderson and Lula Fay Summers Hundley. He married Betty Lou Grady on January 7, 1950, in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Jackie Dunlap of Palm Desert, California; two sisters, Marjorie Louise Cole of Denver, Colorado, and Freda Delores Johnson of Jacksonville; one brother, Vernon Eugene “Pete” (wife, Helen) Hundley of Hennepin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Elizabeth Ater and Florence Abigail Lee. Mr. Hundley was employed with Illinois Power in Jacksonville for over 38 years. He served in the United States Army, as a medical aviator, during World War II. He was a member of the AMVETS and American Legion; and enjoyed fishing and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. Mr. Hundley was a member of Central Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Central Illinois, Jacksonville Branch.

Mrs. C. June Hypke (Pope)
C. June Hypke, 93, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday morning, March 12, 2003, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She was born on June 4, 1909, in Illiopolis, the daughter of John and Anna Conlon Pope. She married Albert Best in 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1937. She married Thomas Hilliard in 1950 and they were married until his death in 1970. She later married Larry Hypke, and he preceded her in death in 1978. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. “Betty” (husband, Edward W.) James of Alamo, Texas; and Helen L. Best of Jacksonville; one son, Joseph A. Best of Leesburg, Florida; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, two sisters, Opal Moomey and Gladys Rogers; and four brothers, Larue “Hap” Pope, Lester Pope, Jack Pope, and Charles Pope. Following the death of her first husband, Mrs. Hypke worked for the nuns at Blessed Sacrament in Springfield while her children attended school there. Later, she ran a daycare center from her home in Springfield for many years. In 1987, she moved to Jacksonville and became a parishioner of the Our Saviour Parish. Mrs. Hypke was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and enjoyed playing pinochle. She was formerly a member of the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. The family will meet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Walker Nursing Home.

Edna C. Jackson (Perry)
Edna C. Jackson Edna C. Jackson, 97, of Jerseyville died at 2:30 A.M. on Monday May 26, 2003 at her home. born in Alpine, Arkansas on June 14, 1905 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Perry. She married Jake Jackson in 1921 in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1961. Surviving are 9 daughters: Opal Crafton of Jerseyville, Wilma (husband Glen) Edison of Bossier City, La., Mary (husband Walter) Adams of St. Louis, Mo., Joann (husband John) Crafton of Jerseyville, Rose Bushong of Peoria, Carolyn Salto of Jerseyville, Sandra (husband George) Leone of Godfrey, Joyce (husband Jerry) Votaw of Louisville,Ky., Judy Panchame of Jerseyville, 5 sons: Glen (wife Berta) Jackson of Jerseyville, Perry (wife Kay) Jackson of Medora, Guy Jackson of Jerseyville, Donald (wife Mary) Jackson of Jerseyville, Clyde Jackson of Roodhouse, 69 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Charles Perry of Eldorado and John Perry of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters: Elba Dewitt, Frankie Bailey, a brother: Gus Perry, 4 grandchildren: Lori Crafton, Steve Crafton, Aron Bailey and Roger Bailey. Mrs. Jackson was the oldest member of Faith Temple Church in Jerseyville. She was a kind and gentle spirit whose presence will be missed. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. on Friday until service time at Noon at the Faith Temple in Jerseyville. Following services graveside rites will be conducted at Witt Cemetery near Rockbridge. Memorials may be made to Faith Temple Church.

Vivian Brooks Jackson
Vivian Brooks Jackson, 73, of Winchester passed away Sunday afternoon (March 16, 2003) at her home. She was born July 3, 1929 in Jersey County the daughter of the late Raymond P. and Callie Hutchens Brooks. She married Glen Jackson May 2, 1945 in Carrollton. Mrs. Jackson attended Jerseyville Schools. She worked at the Jerseyville Community Hospital and also the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church east of Jerseyville. She is survived by her children Patricia (husband Doug) Owings of Winchester, Glen (wife Lou) Jackson of Newalla, Oklahoma, Barbara (husband Rex) Chapai of Peoria and Robert Jackson of Jefferson City, Missouri, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and a sister Minta Gross of Jerseyville. Preceding her in death were 4 brothers Ralph, Clarence, Everett, and Howard Brooks, and 2 sisters in infancy. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday March 19, 2003 at the Kane Cemetery in Kane. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to the donors choice.

John Raymond Jackson Sr.
John Raymond Jackson Sr., 47, of Jacksonville died on March 23, 2003 at his residence. He was on Sept. 30, 1955 in Danville the son of Harry Ira, Jr. and Patty Lou Hinman Jackson. He married the former Mary Fairfield on March 3, 1989 in Jacksonville and she survives. Also surviving are his mother, Patty Lou Johnson of Concord; 4 daughters, Elizabeth Nichole Jackson of Wrights, Amelia Jo Eddinger of Green field, Anna Brogdon and Mellissa Hopper both of Jacksonville; 6 sons, John Raymond Jackson Jr. of Danville, Aaron Rausch of Iowa, Gary Eddinger of Wrights, Paul McGee of Etrick, Wisc., Brian McGee of Jacksonville and John McGee of Neelyville; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shari Larson of Channelview, Tx., and 2 brothers, Bruce Wayne Jackson of Springfield and Josiah Jackson of Pasadena, Tx. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Jackson was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era, he was an over the road truck driver for 18 years and later worked as a mental health tech at the Jacksonville Developmental Center from 1992-1996. He was a member of the AFSCME Local 38. Mr.Jackson loved to play guitar, having played with the South Will Rise Again Band from 1979-1980. He liked to use the computer and spend time with his grandchildren and his dog Gizmo. A memorial service will be held at later at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Care of Central Illinois-Jacksonville Branch. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Ellen Jameson (Hardwick)
Mary Ellen Jameson, 83, of Winchester passed away Monday (April 7, 2003) in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born December 29, 1919 in Jacksonville the daughter of the late George William and Mary Elizabeth Wood Hardwick. She married Charles Shipley in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1966. Mary Ellen was a Nurse and had worked in Texas, California, Jacksonville and Winchester. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Winchester. Survivors include 4 sons David Injerd of Papallacta, Ecuador, Raymond Injerd of Orville, California, William Injerd of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Wesley Injerd of Hillsboro, Oregon, a daughter Beth Thomas of Aurora, Illinois. 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, a brother Thomas Hardwick of Jacksonville. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday (April 17, 2003) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the 1st Christian Church or to Union Baptist Cemetery near Pisgah.

Mrs Judith Ann Jennings (Fracaro)
Judith Ann Fracaro Jennings, 53, of Sunset Lake, Girard,Illinois, died Sunday, March 23, 2003 in her home. She was born February 15, 1950 in Joliet, Illinois a daughter of Leonard Christopher and Barbara Jean Cusick Fracaro. She married Roger H. Jennings on August 22, 1970 in Lockport, IL. Surviving are her husband, her parents of Lockport, IL.two sons: Jeffrey (wife Megan) Jennings of Springfield; Jason of Girard; three daughters: Melinda (husband Rick) Thoroman of Girard; Melissa Jennings of Chicago, Michelle Jennings of Chicago, three sisters: Deborah Sessoms of Lockport, IL.; Nancy (husband John) Flaherty of Festus, Missouri; Denise (husband Jim) Juriga of St. Charles, IL; and two grandchildren. She was a Warrantee Administrator at Jennings Chevrolet, a member of Girard Lions Club, Very active in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Girard, Director of the CYO at St. Patrick’s, member of Terry Park Golf League and Oak Leaf Country Club Golf League in Girard, and Springfield Area Bible Study Group. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School, and Lockport Central High School, attended Western Illinois College and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday March 27, 2003 in St. Patrick Catholic Church in Girard, IL. Visitation will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 from 3 until 8 pm. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery, Girard. Memorials are suggested to Girard Fire and Rescue Squad. Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra is serving the Family.

Mr. Robert D. Jones
Robert D. Jones, age 56, of East Peoria, formerly of Roodhouse, died early Wednesday morning, April 16, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born April 17, 1946 in Roodhouse, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy Overby Jones. He is survived by two sons, Todd (wife, Gina) Jones of O’Fallon and Cory Jones of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Alison and Nathan of O’Fallon; one sister, Patricia (husband, Larry) Gilmore of Pontiac and one brother, Art (wife, Helen) Jones of Florissant, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Ann Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from North Green e High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria for many years. He was of the Protestant faith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Robert H. Kainz
Robert H. Kainz, age 66, of Griggsville, Ill. died 2:29 p.m. Sunday (March 2, 2003) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. He was born August 9, 1936 in Chicago, Ill. son of Frank and Georgette Pahnke Kainz, Sr. He married Betty Bullard on June 6, 1964 in Oak Park, Ill. and she survives. Also surviving is four sons, John Kainz and wife Bina of Chicago, Ill., Steve Kainz and wife Jean of Wood River, Ill., Tim Kainz and wife Tara of Keokuk, Iowa; and Joshua Kainz of home; three grandchildren, Adam Kainz of Chicago, Ill., Stephanie Kainz of Wood River, Ill., and Brandon Kainz of Keokuk, Iowa; one sister, Sandra Lawrence and husband Robert of Spring Hill, Tennessee; two brothers, Frank Kainz, Jr. and wife Lorraine of Chicago, Ill., and Terry Kainz and wife Rosemary of Chicago, Ill.; a sister-in-law Dianna Kainz of Chicago; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathy Berry; and a brother, Raymond Kainz. Bobbie as he was known, was a truck driver for IBT Local 705 for 40 years. He retired in 1987 due to a disability. He moved to Griggsville, Ill. in 1993 with his wife Betty and son Joshua to enjoy retirement and the small town life. Robert was working at the Pittsfield Manor currently as a cook. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield, Ill., Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and was a Rules of the Road Instructor. He was very active with the Boy Scouts, Little League, and the Pike County Youth Soccer League. Robert and Betty were Foster Parents for 28 years. Bobbie loved the town he lived in and never met a stranger. He was willing to lend a hand or an ear for anyone who needed one. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday (March 7, 2003) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Fr. Michael Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Mae Kessinger (Kramer)
Mae Kessinger, age 79, of Griggsville, Ill. died early Tuesday evening (April 15, 2003) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. She was born January 16, 1924 near Kampsville, Ill. daughter of Thomas “Tom” and Gladys Steinberg Kramer. She married Glenn Kessinger on February 12, 1942 in St. Charles, Mo. and he survives. Also surviving is one daughter Peggy Gaff and husband Tony of Kewanee, Ill; two sons, Eugene Kessinger and wife Jean of Eustis, Florida and Dewayne Kessinger and wife Nadine of Griggsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Steve Kessinger and wife Jeannie and Joey Kessinger and wife Amy all of Perry, Ill., T.J. Kessinger of Griggsville, Ill., Isaac Gaff and wife Krista of Normal, Ill., Gretchen Forman and husband Chris of Champaign, Ill., and Christopher Kessinger and wife Rhonda and Ryan Kessinger and wife Carrisa and Becky Kessinger all of Eustis, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Allison and Dakota Kessinger of Perry, Ill., Kyra and Lexie Kessinger of Perry, Ill., Austin and Emma Kessinger of Eustis, Fla., Aleigha Kessinger of Griggsville, Ill. and Riley Kessinger of Eustis, Fla.; one brother, Carl Kramer of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilma Stephenson and Alberta Kessinger; and one brother, Estis “Buck” Kramer. Mrs. Kessinger was a past employee of Trio Manufacturing in Griggsville, Ill. and was a former cook at the Griggsville School, retiring in 1988. She loved to crochet and made several afghans for all her grandchildren. She also loved to cook, making her “famous” cinnamon rolls. Mae’s greatest love was for her family. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Pittsfield Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (April 19, 2003) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Alan Brokaw officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the Griggsville Cemetery.

Ms. Teresa Bernice Koster
Teresa Bernice Koster, 79, of Carrollton died at 11:55 P.M. on Wednesday April 16, 2003 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. born in Eldred on July 15, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Herman H. and Mary M. Langer Koster. Ms. Koster was a retired Registered Medical Technologist with Specialty Blood Bank. She was a graduate of Webster (College) University in 1946: St. Louis University in 1948: worked in St. Louis from 1948-1977 when she retired and moved to Carrollton. She served as blood bank supervisor at Firmin Desloge Hospital (now St. Louis University Hospital), St. Louis City Hospital and Barnes Hospital (2 times). She was a member of the American Assoc. of Blood Banks (past officer), received the Golden Service Award for the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, emeritus member of the Illinois Society of Medical Technologists, the Carrollton Business and Professional Womens Club(was named BPW Woman of the Year in 1994), the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Green e Co. Historical Society where she was the current Vice President. She served as Green e Co. Red Cross Blood Chairman for many years receiving the Citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service from the American Red Cross in 1988, and has remained active in the Red Cross Service Delivery Unit until her death. She was International Commissioner Chariman for the Jacksonville Deanery of the DCCW. Surviving are many cousins. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. on Monday until Mass time at 11 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery and memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Winifred L. Lackscheide (Dewitt)
Winifred L. Lackscheide, age 86, of Perry, Ill. died Tuesday morning (February 11, 2003) at her residence. She was born October 7, 1916 in Mt. Sterling, Ill. daughter of the late Hurley and Ada Stevenson Dewitt. She married Robert L. Lackscheide in 1946 in Canton, Mo. and he preceded her in death in 1981. Surviving is one brother, Guy Dewitt of Perry, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Kenneth Loyd Dewitt; and a sister, Zelma Lackscheide. She attended Fargo and Mt. Sterling schools and attended the Fargo Church near Mt. Sterling, Ill. as well as the Perry Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Perry American Legion Auxillary. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (February 14, 2003) at the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill. with Rev. David Schultz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Perry Cemetery Association.

Ben C. Lake
Benjamin C. “Ben” Lake, 77, of Carrollton died at 3:45 P.M. on Tuesday Feb. 25, 2003 at his residence. born in Carrollton on June 7, 1925 he was the son of the late Benjamin and Anna Frank Lake. On Nov. 18, 1958 he married the former Georgine Schild in Carrollton and she survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters: Mrs. Ken “Linda” Feraris of Springfield, Phyllis Lake of Quincy, a son: Jim (wife Julie) Lake of Carrollton ,4 grandchildren: Lisa and Jason Feraris of Springfield and Bradley and Curtis Lake of Carrollton, 2 brothers: Charles (wife Clara) Lake and Robert (wife Janet)Lake both of Carrollton. Mr. Lake was a longtime farmer, World War II U.S. Army veteran, Member of St. John’s Catholic Church, The Carrollton American Legion Post #114, and the Green e Co. Farm Bureau. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family, hunting, fishing and trapping. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton where a prayer service will be held at 8 P.M. Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Saturday at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Catholic Church, the Blessing Hospice of Green e Co. or for Masses. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Robert L. Lawless Sr.
Robert L. Lawless, Sr., 88, of Jacksonville died Friday afternoon, May 30, 2003 at Passavant Area Hospital In Jacksonville. He was born August 30, 1914 near Winchester the son of Michael and Nanny A. Howell Lawless. He married Edna Weder on September 27, 1936 at St.Marks Church in Winchester and she survives. He is also survived by 3 sons, Michael A. Lawless and Jack (wife, Kay) Lawless both of Winchester and Ronald E. (wife, Marilyn) Lawless of Jacksonville; one daughter, Sharon (fiance’, Lynn Hossner) Schindler of St. Anthony, Idaho; 16 grandchildren, Dr. Steve Lawless, Laura (husband, Jeff) Lonergan, Tracy (wife, Karin) Lawless, Linda (husband, Joe) Eilering, Lisa Lawless, Randy Lawless, Terri (husband, Rick) Valstad, Tammy (husband, Bruce) Zulauf, Becky Lawless, Rita (husband, Duane) Crockett, Joni Bledsoe, Kelly Lawless, T.L. (wife, Leigh Ann) Schindler, Senta (husband, Mike) Cornelius, Margie (husband, Jeff) Constant and John (wife, Linda) Hawkins and 21 great-grandchildren and one sister, Sophia Zachary of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert L. (surviving wife, Frances of Franklin) Lawless, Jr.; 5 brothers, Dick Lawless, Tom (surviving wife, Erna of Winchester) Lawless, Ed Lawless, Dave Lawless and Gene Lawless and 3 sisters, Sister Michael Marie, Blanche Thomas and Gertrude Lawless in infancy. Mr. Lawless farmed his entire life in the Lynnville and Jacksonville areas, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and the Farm Bureau. Mr. Lawless enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards and fox hunting. He was also an avid baseball fan. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at St. Bartholomew Cemetery near Murrayville. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Monday at Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends until 8 p.m. following a 4:45 prayer service. Robert William Lawson, 77, of Palmyra, died Friday, June 6, 2003 in his home in Palmyra. He was born November 18, 1925 in Murrayville, IL a son of Charles and Alma Riley Lawson. He married Bonnie Shade on July 4, 1998 in Palmyra, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter: Faye (husband Jerry) Wilson of White Hall, four sons: Robert L. (wife Barbara) Lawson of Pacific, Missouri; James L. “Butch” (wife Kelly) Lawson of Jerseyville, IL; William Ray (wife Lorrie) Lawson of Bowling Green , Missouri; Greg W. Lawson of Mattoon, IL; Three brothers: James Earl Lawson of Fulton, Missouri; George Lee Lawson of Lewiston, New York, John Norman Lawson of Jerseyville, IL. three sisters: Anna Lou (husband Bob) Epps of Jerseyville, IL; Linda Claudine Edwards of Libby, Montana; Hazel Mae (husband Frank) Huff of Cheyenne, Wyoming; nine grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four great grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson: Charles Hazelwood; two brothers Harvey Milton Lawson, and Charles Junior Lawson; three sisters: Helen Marie Ogle; Bessie Virginia Lockhart and Lois Jean Hendrickson; and one great grandchild. He was a carpenter and a veteran of World War II. serving in the European-African Theatre. He was a member of Palmyra American Legion Post #1034, Nifty-Fifty Club, AARP. Macoupin County Farm Bureau, and Modesto Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, June 9, 2003 in Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, from 4 until 8 pm Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Modesto, IL. Memorials are suggested to Carlinville Area Hospital Home Care. or Palmyra American Legion.

Mr. Stanley Kelton Lemmons
Stanley Kelton Lemmons, 89, of Chapin, formerly Waverly, IL died at his home in Chapin on Tuesday March 4, 2003. He was born August 18, 1913 in Springfield, IL a son of Ora and Iva Baggerly Lemmons. He married Margie Roberta Underwood on September 11, 1932, and she preceded in death on February 2, 2000. Surviving are one son: Albert Lemmons of Chapin; three grandsons: Kevin (wife Heather) Lemmons of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Stanley Lemmons of Denver, Colorado, Anthony Kelley Lowe (wife Sheila) of Colusa, Illinois. one brother: Lowell “Maynard” Lemonns of Decatur, IL and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother Daryell Dwayne (Mose) Lemmons He was a mechanic at Pittman Ford in Waverly for many years, and served as Fire Chief of Waverly Fire Department for 16 years from 1958 to 1974. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003 in Neece Funeral Home in Waverly. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, March 10, 2003, from 4 until 7 p.m. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Fire and Rescue Squad.

Mr. Karl Henry Leonhardt
Karl Henry Leonhardt, 69, of Bluffs, and formerly of Chicago, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2003, at Prairie Village Healthcare Center in Jacksonville. He was born January 26, 1934, in Chicago, the son of William and Anne Stokes Leonhardt. He is survived by two sons, Greg Leonhardt of Bluffs and Gary Leonhardt of Franklin Park; six grandchildren, one brother, Robert (wife, Lois) Leonhardt of Crown Point, Indiana, and his former wife, Jane Leonhardt of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one son, Glen Leonhardt. Mr. Leonhardt retired from Illinois Bell after 33 years of service. He later worked as a security officer for AC Humko, Excel, and with Pinkerton Security. Mr. Leonhardt served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953-57. He was a member of the Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Chicago and the Lions Club. Private services will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Muscular Distrophy Association. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ruth Hilda Lingle (Roberts)
Ruth Hilda Roberts Lingle, age 96, of Pittsfield, Ill. died 11:50 p.m. Saturday (May 17, 2003) at the home of Joean Schlieper who cared for her for many years. She was born April 20, 1907 in Bee Creek, Ill. daughter of the late James Walter and Laura Deemer Roberts. She married Ellis Lingle in 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1972. Surviving are two nieces, Billie Garrison Riddle and husband Wayne of Homewood, Ill., and Elsie Jo Spillman and husband Bob of Godfrey, Ill.; a great-niece, Anita Riddle of Chicago, Ill. and several other great-nieces and great-nephews; and her close friend and caretaker Joean Schlieper of Pittsfield, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Roberts Lingle who died in Iwo Jima during W.W. II. and Gene Gregory; a sister, Josephine Garrison; and a brother, Ronald Roberts. Mrs. Lingle resided in Lafayette, Indiana until her husband died then moving to Pittsfield, Ill. in the late 1970’s. She wrote several articles for the Pike Press as well as having several works of poetry published. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Pittsfield Garden Club for many years. She was a member of the Pearl Community Church and had donated the original carillon as well as the communion table at the Green Pond Christian Church near Pearl, Ill. Most important to her was her friend and caretaker Joean Schlieper who took care of her for many years and was there for her at the time of her death. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (May 20, 2003) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. Burial will be in Green Pond Cemetery near Pearl, Ill. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Green Pond Cemetery.

Mr. Donald "Lehi" Lipcaman
Donald “Lehi” Lipcaman, age 79, of Perry, Ill. died Tuesday morning (April 1, 2003) at his residence. He was born September 5, 1923 in Perry, Il. son of the late Albert L. and Iola Greiwe Lipcaman. He married Dolores “Dee” Nadine Elledge on February 27, 1955 in Pittsfield, Ill. and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, Rhett L. Lipcaman wife Paula and D. Brent Lipcaman and friend Nadine all of Jacksonville, Ill., and Todd B. Lipcaman of Quincy, Ill.; two granddaughters, Eryn and Abby Lipcaman both of Pittsfield, Ill.; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; a sister, Miriam Rocke of Perry, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Lipcaman was a 1941 graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Ill. and attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. Lehi worked in Ypsilanti, Michigan during W.W. II making B-24 bombers and later worked at the Navy Dry Dock in California as an inspector. He began working with his father at the Lipcaman Lumber Yard and took over ownership in 1955. He loved antiques and working with wood. He enjoyed watching baseball, quail hunting with his dogs and fishing. Lehi loved spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (April 3, 2003) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Mark Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Perry, Ill. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Perry Cemetery Association.

Mrs. Verlena D. Liter (Wood)
Verlena Liter, 73, of Jacksonville, died Sunday evening, April 6, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born June 19, 1929, in Roodhouse, the daughter of William James Allen and Mary Jane Christison Wood. She married Glenn Liter on April 23, 1950 in Roodhouse, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1972. She is survived by one son Gary (wife, Marilyn) Liter of Jacksonville; one daughter, Valerie Leigh Liter of Memphis, Tennessee; one granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Liter; her mother, Mary Jane Plessing of Peoria, one brother, Delbert Lee Wood of Murrayville, one step-brother, William J. Allen Wood of Collinsville, and one step-sister, Doris Penninger of Dunlap. Mrs. Liter was hostess and cashier at Tops Big Boy in Jacksonville for many years. She later worked in cosmetics with Merle Norman and Lord and Taylor. She was a member of the Jacksonville Woman’s Club and attended Midwest Christian Ministries. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Services.

Mrs. Margaret Louise Long (Fitzsimmons)
Margaret Louise Fitzsimmons Long, 83, of Jacksonville, died Friday evening, March 28, 2003, at St. John’s North in Springfield. She was born November 23, 1919 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Joseph D. and Ruth A. Sandberg Fitzsimmons. She married William Gerald Long on February 23, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1982. She is survived by one son, William Walter (wife, Karen) Long of Ashland, one grandson, Matthew W. Long of Ashland (fiance’, Brandi Slocum); one granddaughter, Sara M. Long of Ashland; two sisters, Ruth E. Cully of Jacksonville and Doris J. Wilson Ohnemus (husband, Jerry), of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivan C. Fitzsimmons, Joseph Fitzsimmons, and Harold L. Fitzsimmons, killed in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Mrs. Long graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1937 and Hardin Brown’s Business College in 1941. She was a legal secretary at Thomson and Thomson Law Offices for 16 years. She was past-president of ISEA/Retirees, Chapter 201. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, and she enjoyed life. She was a member of Liter Baptist Church at Literberry. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where the family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Liter Baptist Church, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or St. John’s Hospice.

Mr. Kenneth L. Love
Kenneth L. Love, age 76, of White Hall, died early Monday morning, Jan. 20, 2003 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall. He was born Feb. 15, 1926 in White Hall, the son of William Eldon and Effie Mae Jones Love. He married Aline Harney on Jan. 18, 1952 in White Hall and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Kellee Love Zegree of Kalamazoo, Michigan; one son, Ted Penning Love of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Wendy Love, John Love, Sarah Zegree and Nathaniel Zegree; and one sister, Virginia Daniels of Baltimore, Maryland. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ward. Mr. Love was a decorator for Love and Son and later for himself, retiring in 2000. He painted and wallpapered homes and businesses in and around White Hall for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II in the South Pacific. He was interested in athletics and was a sportscaster for WJBM Radio in Jerseyville for many years. He played the trumpet for the Kentucky Colonels and played “Taps” at military funerals for many veterans. He was active in Jaycees and the White Hall Lions Club for many years and was the emcee for the White Hall Lions Homecoming Parade. He enjoyed coaching Khoury League teams and following his children’s activities. He attended the White Hall First Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the White Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Green e County Health Department Visiting Nurses.

Grace Mabel Lovelace (Coker)
Grace Mabel Coker Lovelace, 105, of Palmyra, IL. died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, in Sunshine Manor, Carlinville, IL. She was born April 28, 1898 in Pisgah, IL. a daughter of Cyrus Fletcher and Elizabeth Rufus Coker. She married Loren Logan Lovelace in Patterson, IL on December 4, 1915 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her children: two sons: Loren Leroy Lovelace in 1989, Paul Wayne Lovelace in 1996, her three daughters: Letha Elizabeth Albertina in 1996; Dorothy L. Mangers in 1989 and Shirley L Hettick in 1981; her two brothers: Brock Mayfield Coker on 1946, and George Edward Coker in 1982; one sister: Ethel Louise Coker in 1994; three grandchildren and one great grandson. Surviving are one son-in-law, Arnold Albertina of Collinsville, IL and one daughter-in-law Anna (Polly) Lovelace of Modesto, IL; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren, and two step great great grandchildren. She was a telephone operator for Central Illinois Telephone Company in Palmyra, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, December 27, 2003, in Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, IL, with visitation from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, Il. Memorials are suggested to Northwestern Rescue Squad.
