Laskach, Jennie M.

Services for Jennie M. Laskach, of Staunton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Williamson Funeral Home with the Rev. Father George Radosevich officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Michael's Catholic Church of Staunton. Mrs. Laskach died at 9 a.m. Sunday, August 9, 1998, in Barnes � Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. She was 80 years old on December 4. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She was born in Staunton, a daughter of John and Antonia Carli Mosele. She married Rudolph Laskach on December 21, 1942, in Staunton. He survives. Surviving also is a daughter, Jean Unger of Staunton. Preceding her in death were four brothers, Domonic, Chris, Geno and Victor Mosele.

Laucis, Maria

Funeral Mass for Maria Laucis, of Mt. Olive, will be said at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Church there by the Rev. Father Larry Anschutz. burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Becker and Son Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Holy Trinity church or cemetery or to Lithuanian orphans. Mrs. Laucis died at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 1999, in St. Louis University Hospital. She was 73 years old on August 11. She was born in Kretinga, Lithuania, a daughter of Jonas and Angela Delinikatis Radidnovas, and her early schooling was in Lithuania. She received nurses training in Bregenz, Austria in 1944. She served as a nurse in the Bregenz hospital in 1944 and the following year she immigrated from Austria to Argentina. There she worked as a nurse in a German hospital in Buenos Aries. She married Dr. Augustinas Laucis on November 29, 1949, in Avellaneda, Argentina. in 1957, the couple moved from Argentina to Waterbury, Conn., and in 1960, they moved to Mt. Olive. She continued to practice nursing, assisting her husband in his medical practice. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, the American Lithuanian community and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed music and played several instruments. She also sang in the church choir. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Augustinas Laucis of Mt. Olive; a son, Peter Laucis and wife Winnie of Sunset Hills, Mo.; brother, Edas Radidnovas and wife Jadze of West Hartford, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Nicholas Laucis of Sunset Hills, Mo. Others surviving include two uncles, Zigmas Delinikaitis of Waterbury, Conn. and the Rev. Vladis Delinikaitis of Rome, Italy. Following the services a luncheon will be served for family and friends in the church hall by the women of the church. Funeral Mass for Maria Laucis, of Mt. Olive, was said at 11 this morning in Holy Trinity Church there. The Rev. Fathers Larry Anchutz, Bernard Schloemer, Ted Schelich and John Shehan officiated. Altar servers were Braden Grejtak and Daniel Dragovich. Organists were Ruth Zubal and Susan Vonderweld. The church choir sang. Soloist Mary Ward sang "Ave Maria" and "Psalm 23." Pallbearers were Zachary Laucis, Nicholas Laucis, Scott Parker, Albert Radionovas, Joe Ruggeri, Edward Radionovas, Jon Petri and Ray Stockglausner. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Following the services a luncheon was served for family and friends in the Holy Trinity hall by the women of the church. Mrs. Laucis, 73, died Thursday, May 20, in St. Louis University Hospital.

Lawrence, Dena

Services for Dena Lawrence, of Hillsboro, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church there with the Rev. Ronald Rhodus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, and Friday from 10 a.m. at the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church Elevator Fund. Mrs. Lawrence died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 1999, in her home. She was 64 years old on April 12. She was a nurse, farmer and gardener. She was born in rural Rileyville, a daughter of Bert Ray and Ora Smith Keelin, and attended Galatia High School. She married John Lawrence of Hillsboro on July 25, 1953. He survives. Surviving also are a son, Ron Lawrence and wife Karen of Coffeen; daughter, Rene Shipman and husband Roger of Hillsboro; brother, Bert Keelin and wife Ruth of Benton; sisters, Velma Hall and husband Bob of Florissant, Mo., Vurble Mahoney and husband Bob of Owensboro, Ky.; and grandchildren, Robbie, Ryan and Randy Shipman, Jennifer, Daniel, Julie and Ashley Lawrence. Preceding her in death were a sister, Verna Gaddis in 1996.

Lawson, Alexander

Alexander Lawson, formerly of Mt. Olive, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 87 years old on February 11, and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the State of Illinois as director of Adult and Veterans Education before retiring in 1972. He retired from the military as a lietenant colonel and moved to Springfield in 1949. He earned a master's degree from the University of Illinois and was national commander of Scabbard and blade of National Collegiate Military Society, member of American Legion Post 32 and the DAV. He was born in Mt. Olive, a son of Alexander and Mary DeBuhr Lawson. He married Dorothy Rose Meiser in 1941, in Mt. Olive. She survives. Surivivng also are sons, David A. Lawson of Valparaiso, Ind., John Lawson of Springfield; daughter, Sandra Lawson of Springfield; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield. The family will receive friends during the hour before the service. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Lawson, Marion

Graveside memorial service for Marion Lawson, formerly of Hillsboro, will be held there at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery. Hough and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lawson, of Atascadero, Calif., died Saturday, December 11, 1999, in California. She was 93 years old on July 1. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of John and Anna Pederson. She married Ralph Mathew Lawson in 1927; he preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Audrey L. Heterington of Atascadero; a sister, Delma Pedersen of Hillsboro; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death also was a son, Robert S. Lawson.

Lazenby, John D.

Services for John D. Lazenby, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Meinschein Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Volunteer Ambulance Service. Mr. Lazenby was pronounced dead by county coroner at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1999. He was 80 years old on January 14, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad until his retirement in 1982, and he also farmed. He was a member of VFW Post 3912, Moose Lodge, Legion of the Moose, and the Fox Hunters Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and his family. He also enjoyed gardening and fish frys. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Alvin and Nancy Jarvis Lazenby. He married Twyla Mansfield on July 28, 1940, in Ferguson, Mo. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Lee C. Lazenby and wife Carol of Hillsboro; daughters, Barbara Gretak and husband Robert of Mt. Olive, Alice Friend and husband Terry of Benton, Ark.; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, Hollis and Calvin Lazenby and sisters, Elizabeth Dennis, Elva Alvarez and Katie Lazenby in infancy. Services for John D. Lazenby, 80 of Litchfield, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in Meinschein Funeral Home with burial in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Following the services a luncheon for the family and friends will be served by the Women of the Moose in the lodge hall. Obituary for Mr. Lazenby was in the paper of April 14. Services for John D. Lazenby, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Meinschein Funeral Home. The Rev. Elmer Fenton officiated. Organist was Irene Graden. Pallbearers were Robert Gretak Jr., Donnie Nowell, Stacey Carroll, Chuck Wilson, Alfred Wilson, Billy Wilson, Lendell Turner and Ron Kahl. Military rites were conducted at graveside in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Representing the VFW were Dave Allen, Jim Fenton, Ray Benton, Joe Wilson, Dennis Lewey, Corky Parson, V.C. Chasteen. Representing the American Legion were Will Tackaberry, Bill Bates, Jess Yellowly and Al Lopinot. Mr. Lazenby, 80, died Tuesday, April 13, in rural Litchfield.

Lebeda, Mary

Funeral Mass for Mary Lebeda, of Mt. Olive, will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church there. burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Becker and Son Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to Mt. Olive Ambulance. Mrs. Lebeda died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 1999, in St. John's Mercy Hospital, St. Louis. She was 88 years old on February 27. She taught school for 35 years, including at White City, Mt. Olive, St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Monica's in St. Louis. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Mt. Olive Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting and reading. She attended White City GradeSchool and graduated from Mt. Olive High School in the class of 1929. She continued her education and received her degree in education from Illinois STate Teachers College in Normal. She was born in White City, a daughter of Peter and Aurelia Lantermo Scala. She married George Lebeda on October 2, 1947, in the St. Louis Cathedral. He died on April 28, 1988. Surviving is a son, Larry Lebeda of St. Louis. Preceding her in death are, besides her parents, a step father, William Rudolph and a sister, Amalia Boeker. Following the services, a lunch will be served for family and friends in the Holy Trinity basement by the women of the church. Services for Mary Lebeda, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 this morning in Holy Trinity Church. The Rev. Fathers George Radosevich and Terry Borderling were assisted by altar servers Brandon Grejtak and Anthony Obernuefemann. Organist Ruth Zubal accompanied the Holy Trinity choir and soloist Ernie Thomack in "Ave Maria" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Ronald Ulrich, John Ulrich, Frank Busonic Jr., Ray Danner, Ralph Ramseier and Tom McKay. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Following the services a lunch was served for family and friends in the church hall by the women of the church. Mrs. Lebeda, 89, died Sunday, September 26, in St. John's Mercy Hospital, St. Louis.

Lee, Mary S.

Graveside services for Mary Sabo Lee, mother of Donald R. Lee of Waggoner, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Roselawn Memorial Park. Bisch and Son Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lee, of Mattoon, died Sunday, August 22, 1999, in her home in Mattoon. She was 92 years old on February 27. She had resided in Mattoon for the past two years, having moved there from Springfield where she spent most of her life in America. She was born in Dortmund, Germany, a daughter of John and Barbara Weber Sabo, and came to America in 1914. Her husband, Patrick Joseph Lee, whom she married in 1926, died in 1982. Surviving besides the son and his wife, Edna, are a daughter, Patsy R. Cooper and husband Lowell of Mattoon; a sister, Elizabeth Bright of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Lehman, Lee E.

Services for Lee E. Lehman, of Nokomis, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Stiehl - Dawson Funeral Home there with the Rev. Rick Miles officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery at Rosamond. Friends may call on Wednesday in the funeral home after 5:30 p.m. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Lehman died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, October 11, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. He was 72 years old on March 31. He was a farmer, and member of the South Fork United Methodist Church, Nokomis A.F.&A.M. 456, Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine and the Nokomis Sportsman's Club. He was born in Christian County, a son of Otto and Augusta Engleman Lehman. He married Donna Waddington on April 2, 1950. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Jerry Lehman and wife Debbie of Coalton; daughters, Jane Johnson and husband Chuck of Holiday, Fla., Judy Lehman of Shelbyville; brother, Cletus Lehman of Nokomis; sister, Nadine Lovall of Decatur; and six grandchildren.

Lehnen, Jesse Charles

Services for Jesse Charles Lehnen, formerly of Nokomis, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Paynic Funeral Home at 618 East Airline drive, Bethalto. Mr. Lehnen, of Bethalto, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 1998. He was 85 years old on February 25. He was a son of Leo and Ollie Lehnen and married Eulila Holmes of Witt on July 13, 1937. Surviving are daughters, Ruth Ann Nappier, Debbie England and sons, Mike, Thomas and Paul along with 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Connie Matire and brothers, Edward, Wesley, Delbert and Lester Lehnen.

Lehnert, Carl A.

Funeral arrangements for Carl A. Lehnert, of Litchfield, are pending in Meinschein Funeral Home. Mr. Lehnert, 83, died at 1:07 this morning in St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Mass for Carl Albert Lehnert, of Litchfield, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church by the Rev. Fathers David Schmidt, pastor of the church, and Ted Schelich, chaplain at St. Francis Hospital. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Litchfield. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Meinschein Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Heart Association, Kidney Foundation or Masses. Mr. Lehnert died at 1:07 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 83 years old on August 31. He was owner and operator of a Standard Oil service station at State and Union in Litchfield for 15 years, and retired from Standard Oil Company in 1981. He also farmed. He was a member and trustee of St. Aloysius Church and when it merged with Holy Family, he became a member of the Holy Family Church of Litchfield. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 699 where he served as Grand Knight for four terms. He held the 3rd and 4th degrees, was a member of the Patrick Carroll Assembly, treasurer of Council 33, and member of the Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois. He was also a member of Litchfield Senior Citizens. He served on the original board that constructed Litchfield Memorial Pool. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was born in Mt. Olive, a son of Rudolph and Wilhelmina Mehlberg Lehnert. He married Barbara Mary Hoog on March 30, 1940, in St. Aloysius Church. She survives. Surviving also are a son, William Lehnert and wife Linda of Springfield; a daughter, Carol Riemenschneider and husband Robert of Litchfield; a sister, Frieda A. Savage of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Becky Gudgel and husband Gary, Cindy Bergman and husband Tony, Robert Riemenschneider Jr. and wife Karen, Bradley Riemenschneider, all of Litchfield, Christopher J. Lehnert of Springfield; and five great grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Gudgel, Tanner and Taylor Bergman and Brooke Riemenschneider, all of Litchfield. Preceding him in death were brothers, Frederick and Harold Lehnert and a sister, Ella Lehnert in infancy. Funeral Mass for Carl Albert Lehnert, of Litchfield, was said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev. Fathers David Schmidt and Ted Schelich were the officiants. Lector was Linda Lehnert, his daughter in law. Musical selections were "On Eagles Wings," "The Lord is My Light," "I Am the Resurrection," "Here I Am Lord," and "Amazing Grace." Kathy Skinner was the organist and Jan Johns, the cantor. Granddaughters and their children were the bearers of gifts in preparation for Communion. Mary Thunhorst was minister of Eucharist. Following the service the great grandchildren followed by the casket in honor of their great grandfather. Pallbearers were Robert Riemenschneider Jr., Tony Bergman, Bradley Riemenschneider, Gary Gudgel, Christopher J. Lehnert, Jay Ritter, Michael Stratmeyer, Joe Zalar Jr. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Meinschein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lehnert, 83, died Tuesday, January 12, in St. Francis Hospital.

Leitschuh, William F.

Services for William F. Leitschuh, of New Douglas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lesicko Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father William H. Hembro officiating. Burial will be in the New Douglas Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mr. Leitschuh died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 1999, in Utlaut Memorial Hospital, Green ville. He was 97 years old on December 7. He was a farmer for many years. He was born in Shoal Creek Township of Bond County, a son of Leo and Mary Hogg Leitschuh. He married Clara Anna Marie Schneck on December 6, 1926, in Highland. She died January 3, 1989. Surviving are seven children, Rolean Bailey of Morrisonville, Irma Hackerott and husband Kenneth of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, Irvin Leitschuh and wife Irene of New Douglas, Clarence Leitschuh and wife Bernice of Lakeland, Fla., Delmer Leitschuh and wife Marilyn of Highland, Loren Leitschuh and wife Janet of New Douglas, Ethel Korte and husband Larry of Highland; 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Others surviving include sisters in law, Ollie Schneck of Green ville and Faye Schneck of Litchfield. Preceding him in death were brothers, Edward, Frank and Otto Leitschuh; one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Lemon, Sr., James C.

Graveside service for James Carson Lemon, Sr., of Irving, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Irving Cemetery. Bass Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Lemon died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. He was 89 years old on October 26. He was a janitor at Beckemeyer School in Hillsboro before he retired. He was born in Mechanicsburg, a son of Burdett Carson and Carrie Rice Lemon. He married Althea Louise Nance on July 16, 1932, in St. Louis. She died October 7, 1973. Their son, James Carson Lemon, Jr., died January 28, 1978. Surviving are daughter in law, Joyce Lemon of Irving; two grandchildren, Larry Lemon and wife Karen of Hillsboro, Lori Murphy and husband Tom of Irving; three great grandchildren, Coby James Lemon and Chase and Chelsey Murphy.

Lemons, Christine P.

Services for Christine P. Lemons, mother of Norma Anderson of Litchfield, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka, Kansas. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Midland Hospice or the ALS Association. Mrs. Lemons died Saturday, June 19, 1999, in her home in Topeka. She was 90 years old on December 3. She spent most of her life in Topeka, graduating in 1927 from Seaman High School and then from the Capitol City Business College in Topeka. She was a 78 year member of the Kansas Avenue United Methodit Church, where she had served as reception coordinator. She was also a member and secretary for the United Methodist Women, charter member of the Priscilla Circle, member of the Joy group and the Sunflower Club of Topeka. She also volunteered for the Shawnee County Health Department. She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., a daughter of Charles and Pluma Souders Percifield. She married Thomas J. Lemons on July 19, 1930 in Topeka; he died March 13, 1980. Surviving besides Mrs. Norma Anderson are two other daughters, Louise Lemons and Carolyn Simpson, both of Topeka; a sister, Bernice Iles of Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Lentz, Myrtle E.

Myrtle E. Lentz, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 1999, in Anderson Hospital, Maryville. A resident of Edwardsville, she was 82 years old on March 13. She and her husband, Carroll, had a small band and played locally for 22 years. She was a member of the American Federation of Musicians. She was born in Hillsboro, a daughter of Henry and Ethel G. Sturgeon Lynch. She married Carroll L. Lentz on October 26, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Henry Lentz and wife Susan of Hamel, C. Leroy Lentz and wife Mary Jean of Staunton; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Harland and Harold "Cotton" Lynch, and one grandchild.

Leonard, Christopher C.

Services for Christopher Charles Leonard, of Litchfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crabtree Cemetery in South Litchfield Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Litchfield Terrace Activity Fund. Mr. Leonard died at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 1998, in Litchfield Terrace. He was 78 years old last September 2, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a carpenter with S.M. Wilson General Contractor in Granite City until he retired. He was a member of Southside Church, Disabled Veterans, Amvets Post 16, Moose Lodge 1634, Lodge 236 A.F.&A.M., all in Litchfield, life member and past commander of VFW Post 5790 of Mt. Olive, and Carpenters Local 633 in Granite City. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was born in Litchfield, a son of Charles and Mary Matilda Eller Leonard. His first marriage, to Dorothy Curto in 1945, ended in divorce. He married Mary Savage Gall on March 4, 1992. She survives.�Surviving also are sons, Danny C. Leonard Sr. and wife Janice, D. Sam Leonard and wife Donna, Johnny C. Leoanrd and wife Mellisa, all of Litchfield; step son, Dale Collette and wife Lorna of Citrus Heights, Calif.; daughters, Kitty E. Waters of Houston, Texas, Marla C. Mitchell and husband Joseph of Broken Arrow, Okla.; step daughter, Susan Akalan and husband Mehmet of Litchfield; sister, Lillian Curto of Brookfield, Mo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jackie M. Creech of Gillette, Wyo., Danny C. Leonard Jr. of Gillespie, Sherry C. Emery of Gillette, Adrienne and Tyler J. Mitchell of Broken Arrow, Brandon, Bruce and Heather Leonard of Litchfield, and Carrie Cooper of Mt. Olive; and eight great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his step father, William Dorr; brothers, his twin brother, Walter C. Leonard and Eddie Leonard in infancy; sisters, Daisy Belle Struebig, Pearl Schoenewise, Christina Sparks and Mary Leonard in infancy. Services for Christopher Charles Leonard, of Litchfield, were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home. Tony Corso, elder of Southside Church, officiated. Burial was in Crabtree Cemetery. Musical selections during the service were "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were William Hahnenkamp, Bernard Kaufman, Jim Kirby, Bruce Leoanrd, Danny Leonard Jr., and Kenneth Marit. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Burdell and Pat Brewer. Full military rites were conducted at graveside by members of VFW Post 5790, Mt. Olive. Mike Kasarda presented the flag to Mrs. Mary Leonard. Adam Roach played "Taps." Following the committal service a meal was provided for the family and friends by the Women of the Moose. Mr. Leoanrd, 78, died Wednesday, August 12, in Litchfield Terrace. In his obituary which was published Wednesday, a sister Rhoda Brewer was omitted. She preceded him in death.

Leonard, Josephine (Jo)

Funeral Mass for Josephine "Jo" Leonard, of Farmersville, will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Church there by the Rev. Father Alan McIntosh. Burial will be in St. Martin's Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thrusday in Bramley Funeral Home, Divernon. Prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Isidore School in Farmersville. Mrs. Leonard died Tuesday, October 6, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 87 years old on January 17. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Altar Society of the church and the Farmersville Senior Citizens. She was born in Cotton Hill Township, a daughter of Edward J. and Marie Albers Welsh, and graduated from Divernon High School. She married Dennis Leonard in 1938 in Matoon. he died in 1981. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Alice Gorman and husband Robert of Waggoner; sisters, Alice Stieren and husband Paul of Raymond, Mildred Klein of Divernon; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son, James "Jeep" Leonard, preceded her in death.

Leonhardt, Vicki

Funeral arrangements for Vicki Leonhardt, of Mt. Olive, are pending at Becker and Son Funeral Home there. Mrs. Leonhardt, 43, was found dead at 7:03 this morning in her home. She had reportedly complained of feeling ill last night when she went to bed. Services for Vicki Leonhardt, of Mt. Olive, were held at 11 a.m. today in Becker and Son Funeral Home there. The Rev. James Hennig officiated. Burial was in Union Miners Cemetery at Mt. Olive. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Peters Lutheran Church at Prairietown or the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service. During the service Rosemary Messner was the soloist and pianist. Musical selections were "How Great Thou Art," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." Pallbearers were Keith Johnson, Chris Johnson, Joey Matesa, Chad Matesa, Craig Wieseman and Brad Wieseman. Mrs. Leonhardt was found dead in her home at 7:03 a.m. Friday, January 22, 1999. She was 43 years old on June 29. She was co-owner and operator of Sundae Best Catering in Benld. She was formerly a dispatcher with the Mt. Olive Police Department, city treasurer in Mt. Olive and a beautician. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Prairietown, former member of the Mt. Olive Homecoming committee and a former EMT for the Mt. Olive Ambulance Service. She was born in Smyrna, Tenn., a daughter of Lawrence and Lorraine Hering Johnson, and attended St. Peter's Lutheran School in Prairietown. She graduated from Edwardsville High School with the class of 1973. On May 15, 1976, she married Robert John Leonhardt in the Zion Lutheran Church of Carpenterville. Surviving are her husband, Bob Leonhardt; mother and step father, Lorraine and Walter Wieseman of Prairietown; brother, Terry Johnson and wife Barb of Prairietown; step brothers, Craig Wieseman of Alton, Brad Wieseman and wife Liz of Bethalto; step sisters, Shirley Hanks and husband Bill of Bunker Hill, Kathy Jackson and husband David of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Preceding her in death were her father, Lawrence Johnson and a brother, Michael Johnson. Following the services today a luncheon was served to family and friends in the Mt. Olive Veterans Hall.

Leone, Rita M.

Services for Rita M. Leone, of Benld, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church there with the Rev. Father Larry Auda officiating. Burial will be in Benld City Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Kravanya Funeral Home, Benld. Prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. The family suggests memorials be directed to Heritage Manor, Blackburn College or the Alzheimer Association. Mrs. Leone died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 1998, in Heritage Manor of Gillespie. She was 83 years old on October 16. She taught in the elementary school at Williamson before retiring, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was born in Williamson, a daughter of John and Louise Marcolina. Her husband, Adolph Leone, died August 9, 1995. Surviving are a son, Larry Leone of Benld; daughter, Nancy Valenta of Chesterfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas and Emily Valenta, all of Chesterfield. Preceding her in death were brothers, Frank, Aldo and John Marcolina and sisters, Mary Marcolina and Rona M. Regenhold.

Leone, Rudolph B.

Memorial Mass for Rudolph B. Leone, of Benld, will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church there by the Rev. Father Larry Auda. Remains were cremated. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Kravanya Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to St. Joseph's Altar Society. Mr. Leone died at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 1998, in St. Francis Hospital. He was 80 years old on October 1. He was owner and operator of Leone Lumber and Redi Mix in Benld. He was born in White City, a son of James and Catherine Paglia Leone. His wife, the former Mary Balen, survives. Surviving also are sons, Robert Leone of Hanford, Calif., Richard Leone of Puyallup, Wash., Michael Leone of Carlsbad, Calif.; daughters, Mariann Leone of Brinnon, Wash.; brothers, Anton Leone of Benld; sisters, Catherine Leone of Lutz, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were brothers, James, Joseph and Adolph Leone and a sister, Anna Mae Frew.

Lesich, R. Marie

Services for R. Marie Lesich, of Staunton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Williamson Funeral Home there. The Rev. Father Richard Bockskopf, nephew of Mrs. Lesich and pastor of St. Blaise Catholic Church at Maryland Heights, Mo., will officiate. Burial will be in Old St. Michael's Cemetery, Staunton. Mrs. Lesich died at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Staunton. She was 82 years old on July 12. She was born in Bunker Hill, a daughter of William and Grace Drennan Fensterman. She married Mike Lesich on September 9, 1935, in Carlinville. He died March 16, 1967. Surviving are daughters, Mary Ann Carr of Benld, Rose Marie Skundrich of Wood River, Sandra Kay Prater of East Alton, Patricia S. Williams of Staunton; sons, John William Lesich of Shelby Township, Mich., Michael Joseph Lesich of Earlysville, Va.; a brother, Carl Fensterman of Alton; a sister, Ann Farlow of Alton; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was a brother, Louis Fernsterman.

Lesicko, Jr., Joseph E.

Funeral Mass for Joseph E. Lesicko, Jr., of Livingston, will be said at 11 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Livingston, by the Rev. Father George Radosevich. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Livingston. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Lesicko Funeral Home, Livingston. Scripture service will be conducted at 4 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Sacred Heart Restoration Fund. Mr. Lesicko died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 1999, in Rosewood Care Center, Edwardsville. He was 86 years old on July 29, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was an iron worker in the construction industry for 44 years before retiring Jan. 1, 1981. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Local 46 of Springfield, along with Local 487 of East St. Louis and Local 147. He was also a member of the John J. Slifka American Legion Post 1984 of Livingston and the Slovene Lodge of Chicago. He donated his time to raising the flag at the Veterans Memorial in Livingston. He formerly played baseball in the Livingston Area Outlaw League, and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He was born in Livingston, a son of Joseph and Josephine Knize Lesicko. He married Fern Schweppe on September 30, 1950, in the Sacred Heart Church. She died November 20, 1996. Surviving are daughters, Janice Libbra and husband Alan of Alhambra, Shirley DalPozzo and husband Joe of Livingston; brothers, Edward Lesicko and wife Lillian, George Lesicko and wife Clara, all of New Douglas; sister, Anna Marie Stoecklin and husband Roland of Alhambra; and four grandchildren, Jennifer and Curt Libbra of Alhambra, Angela and Michael DalPozzo of Livingston. Others surviving include sisters in law, Marie Lesicko of Staunton, Marie Lesicko of Gary, Ind., Beulah Urban of Livingston, Norma Turner, Esther Schuster, both of Sorento, Ruth Huber of Green ville; and a brother in law, Lester "Bud" Schweppe of New Douglas.

Lessman III, Joe

Joe Lessman III, formerly of Raymond, died Monday, August 31, 1998, in St. Davids, Pa. He was 78 years old on February 12. He retired in 1986 as president of Dodge Casting's of Philadelphia. He was born in Raymond, a son of Joe II and Chloe Rice Lessman. He married Joyce Snowden in 1959. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Joe B. Lessman and wife Amy and their sons, Jacob and Zachary, of New Jersey; daughter, Jennifer Brandt and husband Kerry and their children, Caleb and Sara, also of New Jersey; brother, Howard Lessman and wife Clara of Raymond. Others surviving in the local area include Max Neunaber of Harvel, a step nephew. Gary Lessman, a nephew, preceded him in death in September 1982. The remains were cremated and a memorial service is planned for a later date. Memorial service for Joseph L. Lessman III, formerly of Raymond, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hough Funeral Home there with the Rev. Father Maul officiating. The family will receive friends from a half hour before the service. Mr. Lessman, president of Dodge Casting in Philadelphia, Pa., resided in St. David, Pa., and died in St. David on August 31, 1998. He was 78 years old on February 12. He was born in Raymond, a son of Joseph and Chloe Rice Lessman. Surviving are a son, J.B. Lessman of Manito, N.J.; daughter, Jennifer Brandt of Palmyra, N.J.; brother, Howard Lessman of Raymond; and four grandchildren.

Lewey, Constance (Connie)

Services for Constance "Connie" Lewey, of Hillsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Patton Memorial Home there with the Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery in rural Green ville. Friends may call from on Tuesday in the funeral home from noon until the time of service. Mrs. Lewey died at 1:21 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 1998, in St. John's North, Springfield. She was 44 years old on September 3. She spent most of her life in the Hillsboro area and worked as a nurse's aid. She was disabled from an auto accident in 1972. She was born in Granite City, a daughter of Lloyd and Betty Sybert Bleisch, and was married three times. Her first husband was Dennis Thacker. Her second was Dan Long. Her third was William Lewey. Surviving are a son, Rob Thacker and wife Amanda of Hillsboro; a daughter, Laurie Flowers and husband Jason of Hillsboro; her mother and step father, Betty and Al Lienemann of Butler; brothers, Dave Matlock of Butler, Jim Bleisch of Green ville; Ralph "Joe" Jennings of Hillsboro; sister, Mary Wilson and husband Mills of Laughlin, Nevada; three grandchildren and one step grandchild, Jordan and Kelcie Flowers, Jacob Province and Mercedes Thacker.

Lewis, John W.

John W. Lewis, husband of the former Betty J. Bitter of Litchfield, died Sunday, January 24, 1999, in Rosewood Care Center at Swansea. He was 82 years old. He and his wife, Betty, were married July 4, 1940, in Litchfield. He was an FBI agent before his retirement, working Washington, D.C., Norfolk, Va., Richmond, Va., New York City, Springfield and Belleville. He was also director fo the Belleville Area College Police Academy for five years and an adviser to the St. Clair County Sheriffs Merit Commission. Surviving are sons, John R. Lewis and wife Nancy of Glendale, Ariz., Mark L. Leiws and wife Jeannie of East Moline; daughters, Frances A. Benard and husband Edmund of Brisbane, Australia, Sara K. Klappert and husband Rainer of Johanesburg, South Africa; brother, James R. Lewis and wife Wilma of Champaign; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Others surviving include sisters in law, Barbara Bitter of Alton, June Lewis of Lagoona Beach, Calif., and Betty Lewis of Litchfield. A memorial service is planned at a later date in the Signal Hill United Methodist Church at Belleville. The remains were cremated with Kurfus Funeral Home of Belleville in charge.
