Mrs. Mary Louise Moore (Steele)
Mary L. Moore, 67, of Jacksonville died Sunday evening, December 17, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1933 in Chicago, the daughter of
John H. and Lucy Bruntz Steele. She married Herschel W. Moore on November 5, 1948 in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1999.
She is survived by one son, Gail Wayne Moore of Jacksonville; three daughters, Brenda Pond of Jacksonville, Darla Stambaugh of New Berlin and Susie (husband, Russell) Woodley of Pana; fourteen grandchildren and one sister, Linda Mae Spradlin of Ashland. She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, James David Moore.
Mrs. Moore had worked at the Jacksonville State Hospital for 38 years. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Williamson Funeral Home. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Samuel Taylor Cemetery in Rockport. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society.

Mr. Charles Harold Moore
Charles Harold Moore, age 85, of Roodhouse, died early Thursday
morning, Oct. 26, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born May 15, 1915 in Patterson, the son of Charles and
Maude Moore.
He married Mildred Margarete VanMeter in Bowling Green , Missouri
and she preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1974.
He is survived by three sons, Lloyd R. (wife, Yvonne) Chism of
Laporte, TX; Randall C. Moore of White Hall and Gale K. (wife, Jewel)
Moore of Roodhouse; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two
brothers, Ivan Moore of Springfield and Kenneth Moore of Alsey; and two
sisters, Clover Wildhagen of Winchester and Ruby Cardwell of Drake. He
was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Moore worked at the Western Cartridge Company for 13 years,
then at the White Hall Sewer Pipe and Stoneware Company for several
years. He also worked at the White Hall Co-Op Elevator for 13 years and
was a farmer for several years until his retirement. He was of the Baptist
faith.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the
White Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Memorials are suggested to
Meals On Wheels.

Ms. Roberta Motley
Roberta Motley, age 77, of Glendale, Colorado and formerly of Rockport, Ill. died Wednesday (October 11, 2000) at her residence in Glendale, Colorado.
She was born March 12, 1923 in Rockport, Ill. daughter of the late John W. and Effie Ray Ward Motley.
Surviving is one brother, Woodrow Motley and wife Della of Pittsfield, Ill.; and four nephews, Steve Woods of the state of Washington, Timothy Woods of Denver, Colorado, Stanley Motley of Union City, Georgia, and Jerry Motley of Barry, Ill..
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marjorie Woods; and three brothers, Thomas, Walter, and Hubert Motley.
Ms. Motley had been employed as a waitress for most of her working life, retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Rockport United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (October 15, 2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Bro. Robert Hammitt officiating. Burial will be in Samuel-Taylor Cemetery in Rockport, Ill.. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Samuel-Taylor Cemetery.

Mrs. Della Motley (Ator)
Della Motley, age 82, of New Hartford, Ill. died Friday evening (Dec. 8, 2000) at her residence.
She was born October 14, 1918 in Martinsburg Township, Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late George and Nettie Howland Ator.
She married Woodrow Motley on December 22, 1937 in Pittsfield, Ill. and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Motley and wife Ruth Ann of Barry, Ill. and Stanley Motley and wife Betty of Pacific, Mo.; four grandchildren, David Motley of Barry, Ill., Mrs. Allen (Mary Elaine) Nigg of Battle Creek Michigan, Mrs. Scott (Lisa) Gard of Kansas City, Mo., and Steven Motley of Pacific, Mo.; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Lee Motley, Rachael Ester Motley both of Barry, Ill., Jacob and Morgan Nigg both of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Michael Gard of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Homer Ator of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Russell Ator of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Pauline Myers and Kathryn Ash; and three brothers, Carl, Art, and Jerry Ator.
Mrs. Motley was a 1936 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, Ill.. She farmed with her husband near Rockport, Ill. before becoming employed by Curtis-Wright Co. in St. Louis, Mo.. She was a member of the El Dara United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (December 12, 2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Bro. Robert Hammitt officiating. Burial will be in Samuel-Taylor Cemetery near Rockport, Ill.. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pike Co. Cancer Transportation Fund.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Myers (Roark)
Mary Elizabeth Myers, age 97, of Griggsville, Ill. died Friday morning (July 14, 2000) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill. following a short illness.
She was born October 29, 1902 in Winchester, Ill. daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Coultas Roark.
She married Richard J. Myers on September 19, 1931 in Winchester, Ill. and he preceded her in death on October 2, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Richard R. Myers and wife Gladys Ann and Ronald K. Myers and wife Carolyn all of Griggsville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Dr. Bradley (Susan) Roberts of Godfrey, Ill., Gordon Myers and wife Karen of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Vince (Elizabeth) Kurr of San Mateo, California, Steven Myers and wife Lori and Mrs. Wayne (Kristine) Bingham all of Griggsville, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Deborah) Duszka of Antioch, California; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son in infancy.
Mrs. Myers was a graduate of Winchester High School in Winchester, Ill. and graduated from Illinois Women’s College in Jacksonville, Ill. with a degree in Home Economics in 1924. She taught home economics at Astoria and Griggsville schools before her marriage in 1931. She was a member of the Griggsville United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Circle and United Methodist Women at the church. She was a charter member of the P.E.O.; first president of the Home Bureau, which later became Home Extension; Pike County Order of the Eastern Star Cornelia Chapter 791; the Fortnight Bridge Club; and the Abby A. Hatch Chautauqua.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 18, 2000) at the Griggsville United Methodist Church in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. David Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Griggsville United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Griggsville United Methodist Church. Skinner-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Griggsville, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.

Marie K. Nevius (Gilmartin)
Marie K. Nevius, 89, of White Hall died on Thursday afternoon Dec. 7,
2000 at the Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born in New York City on May 16, 1911 she was the daughter of the late
Michael and Catherine Ray Gilmartin.
She married Dr. Hal S. Nevius on March 17, 1942 in New York City and
he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1983.
Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Gene “Marie” Smith of Roodhouse, a
step-daughter: Mrs. Ed “Grace” Westre of Sudbury, N.J., a grandson Marty
(wife-Melisa) Smith and a great granddaughter Mandie all of Roodhouse, 1
step-granddaughter and 3 step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Nevius was a homemaker and an avid volunteer for the White Hall
Hospital Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross Blood
Drives, food pantry and meals on wheels.
Visitation will be from 4-8 on Sunday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in White Hall. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 A.M.
at All Saints Church in White Hall. Burial will follow in the White Hall
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Reisch Memorial Nursing Home or
Boyd Memorial Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Albert Raymond Newberry
Albert Raymond Newberry, 75, of Winchester passed away Thursday evening (July 6, 2000) at his home.
He was born August 28, 1924 in Jacksonville the son of the late Albert Z. and Eileen McGlasson Newberry.
He married Vivian Workman in 1945 and later married Mildred Benton on December 3, 1970 in California. She preceded him in death September 1988.
He is survived by a daughter Donna Lawrence of Winchester, a son Richard Stephen (wife Theresa) Newberry of Copperas Cove, Texas, 3 stepdaughters Trish Hensley of Whittier, California, Mary Colleen Watts of Oregon and Bev Amador of Irvine, California. 5 granddaughters, 2 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 4 sisters Catherine (husband Edward) Henderson of Alton, Mary (husband David) Wells of Godfrey, Margie Miller of Fenton, Missouri and Patricia Nichols of Jacksonville, 1 brother Elmer LeRoy (wife Leata) Newberry of Alton.
Mr. Newberry was preceded in death by his parents, a son Curtis Raymond a brother Paul and a sister Betty Latham.
He attended school in Scott County. He was a US Army veteran of WW 2 where he received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Newberry farmed in Scott County during his youth and worked with his father at Newberry’s IGA in Winchester until moving to California in 1965. He worked as a foreman at Boeing Aircraft and was General Manager for Tel-Com Communications in Bueno Park, California until his retirement in1988.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday (July 9, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial be made to the Winchester EMS or to the charity of the donors choice.

Mr. Mark A. Newman
Mark A. Newman, age 38, of Walkerville, died Thursday, July 20,
2000 in Jersey County.
He was born Dec. 21, 1961 in Carrollton, the son of Billy Gene and
Betty R. Price Newman.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Newman of Walkerville; one
brother, Joe Newman of White Hall; one sister, Mrs. Roger (Melanie) Mast
of Harvard; four nephews; one niece and five great nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Jeffrey Newman.
Mr. Newman was a member of the Walkerville Baptist Church. He
attended North Green e schools and worked as a telephone contractor for
many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial in the Walkerville
Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Sunday. Memorials
are suggested to the Walkerville Cemetery.

Mr. George Dinsmore Nichol
George Dinsmore Nichol, age 75, of Pittsfield, Ill. died late Monday evening (October 30, 2000) at Pittsfield Manor Nursing Home in Pittsfield, Ill..
He was born July 28, 1925 in Jacksonville, Ill. son of the late Ross and Helen Dinsmore Nichol.
He married Patricia Lockhart on April 5, 1955 in St. Albans, West Virginia and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robb (Catherine Jane) Mudd of Jacksonville, Ill., and Mrs. Glen (Sally Nichol) Sexton of Springfield, Ill.; one son, Ross L. Nichol of Springfield, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lexi Nichol of Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Ann Sexton and Natalie Sexton both of Springfield, Ill.; and one niece and for nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Mary Virginia LoBueno.
Mr. Nichol was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a 1950 graduate of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo. with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was the originator and owner of Viking Engineering and developed and held patents for products used in the dental industry.
He was a member of the Old Orchard Country Club in Pittsfield, Ill. and a member of Beta Theta Pi social fraternity.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Rev. Bob Morwell officiating. Burial will in Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield with graveside military rites conducted by Pittsfield American Legion Post. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice or to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Marie C. Nolan
Marie C. Nolan, age 96, of White Hall, died Tuesday evening, June
20, 2000 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
She was born April 21, 1904 in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Austin
and Emma Long Hemphill.
She married John A. Nolan on May 31, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas
and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1989.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Bona Adkins
of White Hall. She was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie Draper and
four brothers, Ray, John, Austin and Baylis Hemphill.
Mrs. Nolan was a salesperson at Walgreens in St. Louis for 14 years
and owned and operated a laundry in Texas for many years.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2000
at the Hillcrest Cemetery near Kampsville. The Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in White Hall is in charge of arrangements.

Laura Louise O'Neal (Byers)
Laura L. O?eal, 82, of Jacksonville died Wednesday afternoon, December 6, 2000 at her residence. She was born on September 26, 1918 in Rushville the daughter of Lloyd and Mabel Persinger Byers. She married Everett Guy O?eal on June 15, 1948 in Bourbonnais and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1975.
She is survived by one son, Everett Lee (wife, Patty) O?eal of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Holly (husband, Ed) Souza of Springfield, Jason O?eal, serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS George Washington in the Persian Gulf, and Joe O?eal of Jacksonville; one sister, Mildred McKean of Jacksonville, and one brother, Ralph (wife, Velma) Byers of Sherman. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene (surviving wife, Mary Ann of Jacksonville) Byers and Lloyd H. (surviving wife, Jeanne of Jacksonville) Byers.
Earlier in life Mrs. O?eal had worked in the business office at Montgomery Ward and as a nurse at Our Saviour? Hospital. She was employed for over 50 years at Edward? Jewelers in Jacksonville, retiring in January of 2000. Mrs. O?eal served in the Army Air Force. She was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Mary Martha Circle and United Methodist Women. Mrs. O?eal was also a member of the I.S.E.A Retirees; AARP; Women? Army Auxiliary Corps in the Air Force; Caritas Rebekah Lodge #625; Amvets Post #100, Moose Lodge Chapter 1079. She was a former member of the Easy Riders Bicycle Club.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at which time Rebekah services will be conducted. Memorials are suggested to Centenary United Methodist Church Building Fund.
